uk power adaptor - Xoom Accessories

hi all
will be in usa in a few weeks and will be buying wifi xoom
problem is i need a uk power adaptor
anyone know where i can pick one of these up online?
i googled it but got no favourable results
tia
john.

I would probably just go with a travel adapter that you can buy at the airport or virtually every electronics store.

Yeah - thought of that but using a travel adaptor is not ideal on an ongoing basis for me
surely there is somewhere online that is selling these?
Has anyone seen any website offering them - only ones i have seen all have the same pic of the back of the charger where you cant see the pins to tell if its uk/US
would prefer a straight thru to the wall connection for charging if at all possible
thanks....

I would try eBay. Maybe you can get something from Taiwan or any other former UK colony since many of them will use the UK format. But honestly, why would anyone in the US sell a UK adapter for a specific device? That wouldn't sell very much so you still might want to consider something more general.

Thanks again creature
I do realise that noone in US would probably sell these
I was aiming this more towards anyone who may have bought one in US but is using it in UK or anywhere compatible with Uk style 3 pin plugs
Obviously noone has done this - surely I wont be the first......

Ok - I have found a UK site selling replacement charger units but again no pic of the front of the unit to see if its actually three pin
http://www.bmcdigital.co.uk/catalog...-charger-for-motorola-xoom-asm18wchargertri2a
It does list a part number though.
Could I ask two of you nice xoom owners one from US and one from UK to check the part number on your mains charger/adaptor please and post it here
The part numbers I see on the product details is
TEL-PDA-ACC-00622 (seems to be a motorola #)
and
ASM18WCHARGER-TRI2A (seems to be a site specific #)
Thanks you very much for your help
j.
just as a matter of interest - does anyone know if the atrix uses the same mains charger type as the xoom?

The model number on the US power adapter is FMP5632A.
From what I can see on the picture in your link it seems like what you need.
I think the Xoom has a unique charger b/c of the high power requirements. It is also not listed as compatible with the Atrix.

Thanks for your help on this - really appreciate it

Europe vs UK box size question

Hello, can anybody tell me the size of both boxes?
here a link that compare them:
https://picasaweb.google.com/107138125722399503006/GNEX?authkey=Gv1sRgCL2zqoO8icyOsAE&noredirect=1
*or is there a way to know from S/N or other number on the box, if it made for UK or other Europe country? I just want to be sure that I buy the variant that sold for Europe, so I would not need to buy adapter for UK plug, as I live in Israel, I asked local shops, they all say it's Europe variant with EU charger, but most sell them in sealed boxes, so I cant be sure what inside, not even sure if they can allow me to open box before I pay $$, thank you all for help.
You could always buy a usb adapter if you don't get the right plug?

I know I can, but don't want to, just want to be sure that I buy original Europe package, and not the UK one that is bigger, so any one can measure the boxes for me?
Seriously what is the world coming to these days.

USB Host Cable for Xperia Tablet S

Hi.
I need help.
I want to buy USB host cable for my new Sony Xpeia Tablet (model SGPT121) and it seems that it is not available in whole Europe. I tried to order it from US or from Japan, but I can not find shop which sends to Czech Republic. Does anyone know where to get his cable?
It is SGP-UC3 http://www.sony.co.uk/product/other-sony-tablet-accessories/sgp-uc3
Thanks.
After running a quick search on the cable, not much was returned. The cable seems to be quite scarce and this is surprising seeing as most tablets require this. Worse still, your asking for it to be shipped to the Czech - Not many people will do that. After a year of membership with XDA, you will have access to the marketplace and you can look there. Or maybe you can appeal and a mod will let you in. Alternatively, if you have a friend with a year membership, ask them to have a look.
There is a high chance you will find your cable there.

this should be it
ehm, cannot post link because I am new but czech Alza has some usb cable for sony xperia tablets. (prodlužovací kábel is the name)
It seems that Sony do not want to sell tablet accessories in some countries and if they do, they do not allow it to send to diferent countries
like alza has eshop in slovakia too but they won't sell this cable (or cover, keyboard for sony tablet) in slovakia..
Yes, that's it. But Alza doesn't have it in stock. The same situation is in all Czech shops. I work in Sony Center in Prague, and even for our shop is impossible to obtain this cable at this moment. It seems that Sony - as usually - doesn't care about Czech customers. But it seems that we could have it in about 14 days from other supplier, so I will wait.
so still no new alternative cheap cable found yet??

[Q] buying note 2014 in another country

Hi,
I'm considering getting a note 10.1 2014, and may have the chance to pick one up in Hong Kong in the next few months. I've never bought a gadget from another country before though - and wondered if anyone can advise me on the implications of this, whether it affects usability or if there are any other reasons it's not a good idea.
Many thanks,
Andii

I've bought tons of Samsung devices from other countries for use in the U.S. My N10.1-14 is from Latin America. The biggest downside is you'll give up your warranty completely unless you send it back to HK for repair. I've stayed away from Asian imports because Western market devices allow you to interchange s/w whereas some of the Eastern devices don't. Maybe someone from Asia can offer more insight.
You need to make sure what you bought! They also have many "smuggle" from europe, and US. Which most of the US model is "14 days return" item. (I guess europe is the same but I dont know their policy.) Yes smuggle is cheaper.
If you buying HK model, then you dont care this. but if you want to buy the smuggle product, please note that some of them may change the original bettery, or is used item. To ID it, is check the SIM card slot, and USB port. If is new then good to go. For bettery, I don't know how to check is real or fake.

Buying HTC One M8 from Aliexpress, question about model.

Hey guys,
Has anyone here bought or had anything to do with Aliexpress? I want to buy an HTC One M8 my self, but I come across different models, which are usually 16/32GB EU and 16/32GB US version. for example: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Unlo...G-WIFI-Quad-Core-5-0-Dual-4MP/1993568822.html
Does anyone know what is the difference between them? Could I still use the US version in Europe? US version is cheaper and has more space (16GBvs32GB).
And if anybody bought from there, what is your experience, was everything okay?
Thanks in advance
useful
Yeah, I want to know too, as prices are significantly lower than ebay, like 20% off
did anyone bought from there?

Read through the feedback, though stars are high. Couple of them are trying to change the faulty devices they received (which is gonna take lot of time). Also, there could be problem with the antenna not working for US LTE bands. By the way, US CDMA (Verizon/Sprint) won't work on this. Also, if it comes with SIM locked version, you will have to do all the research and work (saw recently in M8 forum). Maybe contact the seller and know product ID, network bands etc
