Yes, I've done that. I used htccode.com to get it unlocked.

Hi,
I unlocked my Arc and then set it up to run on Telus in Canada. I have everything working now including MMS.
I used this site for the unlock
www cellunlocker net
I cost me $7.50 CDN
p.s. I got an unlock code back within 2 hours

Thanks guys will give it a go many thanks.

can you give the apn setting that works for the arc on telus?? I seem to have to keep switching mine

3grepairs is 5.50. quick service quick code. a time or two he couldnt give me code for given device. i always buy two at once. even though one was successful he always refunded all the money for both. for that reason i say go with him he's pretty good. [email protected] high recommend. he's in north van or some ****. check your arc be sure you haz tries left. *#*#7378423#*#* and check simlock. top entry if it says zero and big X your device hardlocked. talk to alejandrissimo or Blagus here, if you haz locked bootloader AND your device is hardlocked thats only solution. under $25 nothin to cry about in that situation.
edit: oh i think manufacture method of unlock is free. but u can only do that if you haz fastboot enabled. unlocked bootloader, as far as i know anyway. just trying to help. to gather all the info i just typed out i had to read many many posts. manufacture method get sim unlock code from se site i got one of those before i realized i was hardlocked and locked bootloader. i am neither now.

Make sure your APN settings are right for Tmobile. Go to:
Menu/Setting/Wireless&Networks/MobileNetworks/AcessPointNames/T-Mobile US
It should read:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: leave blank
MMS port: leave blank
MCC: 310
MNC:260
Authentication type: leave blank
APN type:default,supl,mms
I checked the APN and T-Mobile US was all the same except
Username: spelt out "none"
Password: ****
Server: *
There is also another APN named "simple"
With a proxy, port, and some other stuff..
Also when I go to search for network with my t-mobile it says "error while searching for networks", with an at&t it does that once or twice but then it finds it. I really don't know what else I can do.

Yeah I'm miles away right now and still to no avail. I'm using a wifi connection right now.. and no I havnt used another tmobile sim on this rom but I had the same problem on the stock rom and kernel so I flashed a new one and still no service with tmobile, and with this rom it won't even find tmobiles network..

I say try reselecting tmoobile from the apn settings
Try wiping the sim card with your thumb, thumb grease has been known to help an ailing sim card. Has it ever worked in this phone? because sometimes a sim card will work in one phone but not in another. Also, try changing your username. the added karma just might make the sim work for you.
Hope this helps
I've been through 5 sim cards in 3 years. It's like my old G1 used to eat them. That's probably what the problem is. Go to a T-Mobile store and they should replace your SIM card for free.

Can't fully install stock ROM with Odin - help please!

Hi, and firstly, thanks to any and all who offer their knowledge to assist my conundrum.
I recently purchased a Bell Canada version of the SG Note 2 (i317), I am on Telus so I attempted to Unlock the phone. I looked online and found people were having success unlocking these phones for free using the *#197327640# method, (whereby you go into the service mode, turn off the PERSHO_256 and then INITIALLIZ).
I tried this method and the phone then seemed to work with my telus sim, but only for voice, not data. When I put in a Bell SIM from a friend, both voice and data worked fine - which tells me its not a hardware (radio) issue. I also tried using another friends Telus SIM and had the same results as mine - which tells me it's not a SIM error. Also, all the settings in the mobile network area appeared to be correctly set up.
So, my next step was to try and reflash the phone to the stock Bell ROM and then just buy an Unlock code. I downloaded the stock ROM (2 different ones actually) and used Odin 3.07 to reload the ROM. I've tried it several times now, with both Bell ROMs and each time it says it's been successful, but the phone remains in the same, partially unlocked state.
It seems as though by using the PERSHO_256 method I have permanently, PARTIALLY unlocked the phone. I can't seem to re-lock it by installing the stock Bell ROM, and since it's unlocked, I can't get the foreign SIM error to come up to enable me to put in my purchased unlock code.
If anyone has any insights, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
-Luke
did you check and/or setup the apn? it may be just the apn is not set correctly or you have to manually input hte apn
sounds like just APN needs setting...
APN?
How would I check/setup the APN? Is this to allow me to do a full reflash to a stock ROM or to access data with the phone in it's current state?
left ownsho
So I went into ACCES POINT NAMES and checked the sp.telus.net box, no change. Did a restart. No change Any ideas?
Wooooo Hooooo!!!
So, it's working now!!! I dug a little deeper and found the correct APN settings for TELUS. NOW IT F*@^&#*&@ING WORKS!
Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction!!!

ATT SIII rooted and unlocked with LiquidSmooth not able to connect to T Mobile.....

Hi All
Rooted, have done the unlocking trick to unlock my AT T SIII and then installed LiquidSmooth Rom.
However, it's unable to connect to the T Mobile network on my tmo sim? The T-mobile account is good as it works perfectly on my unlocked Note as well as another SIII that I have on Verizon.....
Any suggestions on what I can do next?
Thanks

You'll need to check to make sure you APN matches the tmo network. Liquid devs for att so the APN in his ROM is for att. You simply have to edit it for tmo. Google "TMobile APN Settings" or search around xda and you'll see how and what to change.

Yep, I've tried alot of other roms and have tried the below APN but that causes the Searching for Network screen to perpetually search and won't even bring up T-Mo and AT & T network options for me to choose from.
And yes, the default was already T Mobile on the APN when I first posted this.
The official error message was: "Can't connect to this network right now. Try again later." when I tried to click on T-Mobile in the Available Networks screen.

If its happening on stock, you may have lost your IMEI, check Settings > About > Status.
Report back and let us know.

Nope, IMEI still there. Also when I have the T - Mobile sim in there, it actually even shows my phone # in Status.

mm6 doesn't show in custom roms(aosp roms) but only touchwiz
if you get that, then chance that you get it fix, is really hard
i had once like that and regardless of what i did (restore imei, re-unlock, change value....) i tried all methods, it didn't work and i had to bring it in for warranty.
if you're not on stock, try go back to stock and see if you get it, "mm6 phone not allowed" message usually show on top in lockscreen
hope i'm wrong, or else the only option is warranty.
Definition of MM6 Phone not allowed
a) the handset was bought locked to a particular network (the network sells the handset at a subsidised price, but gets the money back by tying you into staying with them for 12, 18 or 24 months, paying a fee each month), and you've put in a SIM belonging to another network... in which case, you'll need to (pay to) get it unlocked (since you're unlocked, this shouldn't bother you)
or
b) the handset has been reported lost or stolen, and has been blacklisted in the EIR (Equipment Identity Register) of the network whose SIM you've put in the handset
or
c) the handset is unable to register on the network (e.g. you've been (accidentally) barred or disconnected, or there's a network issue that is preventing you from registering).

Your fix isn't that hard. You dont have to manually enter most roms apns because tmobile builds can sucsesfully flash on att builds with apns built it. Next time just flash tmobile because it is the same hardware almost and Is flashable without porting to att or that nonsense for what you have to do for theinternational variant

So you are saying to Flash a T Mobile rom ????
I was under the impression that we should ALWAYS ONLY flash roms that are specific to our devices (in this case, the SIII is AT &T) ?

[Q] How to determine which carrier I'm locked to when there are no bloatware apps?

I have a Canadian Bell S3 i747m which broke and I got some random guy to fix it for me. He frustratingly ended up installing a ROGERS circuit board(or so he says) without bothering to check the fact my phone was loaded with Bell bloatware or just asking me my carrier.
I now need to unlock the SIM in order to use it properly and I just want to be sure I have the correct information and I don't end up paying for an unlock code that will not work since I didn't provide the proper carrier.
My SIM card (not sure if that matters): BELL
My board/IMEI: ROGERS (Apparently)
I wanted to determine which carrier I was tied to but I see 0 bloatware in my phone which makes me think the guy is wrong/lying and it's not actually a Rogers board. Is there another way to determine which carrier my phone is tied to?

The carrier doesn't matter. Once unlocked, it's unlocked for every carrier (unless it's unlocked by code).
You could go check the APN to see which carrier it's from.

Oh really? I was looking at the gsmliberty site for unlocking and it asks for a carrier. I can't post the link since I'm a new account but here it is split:
gsmliberty(dot)net/shop/samsung-galaxy-s3-unlock-codes-p-3528.html
I then went into their Terms of Service and it specifies that if I provide an incorrect carrier and the unlock code doesn't work then I won't get a refund. Does this mean this site is BS and I should avoid it and find another?
EDIT: Oh I see you added info about checking the APN. Don't know what that is but I'll Google it. Assuming I find it should I still avoid gsmliberty or should I give them a shot?

I went to Settings > Connections > More networks > Mobile Networks and it tells me this: Insert SIM card to access network services
EDIT: Ok I finally found the AP and CSC by dialing *#1234# and then comparing it to sammobiles firmware to find out which carrier it is tied to. Still worried about the fact I get the SIM error above but hopefully that will go away when I attempt to unlock it

Umm I though you'd have access to it w/o a sim card.
I'm not sure how else you could determine which carrier the motherboard is locked to.

I just ended up editing my last post a minute before you posted this. I did determine the carrier and it is in fact Rogers. I was planning on just getting an unlock code through a website. You mentioned that means it will only be unlocked for them which I'm fine with but I'm just concerned about the fact I have a Bell SIM. Will that cause any problems with the unlock process or future dealings with BELL?
Actually I have a better question. Can I just put Bell's firmware on my phone instead of Rogers using Odin and then get an unlock for Bell and theoretically I'll be back to where I was?
What bootloader is on the phone? If you have the 4.3 bootloader, you'll have to buy an unlock code. If you have the 4.1.1 bootloader and you are running a stock ROM (doesn't matter about the carrier), you can use the free method to unlock it. If you have the 4.1.2 bootloader, downgrade to the Rogers 4.1.1 ROM and unlock it using the free method.

I'm running 4.3 so I know I need an unlock code unfortunately. I have a Bell SIM card but have Rogers firmware. The site I was looking to buy an unlock code from asks for my carrier so I presume I need to use Rogers. Will that be fine or am I able to just throw Bell firmware on my phone and buy an unlock code specifying Bell as my carrier?
I am not sure of you can load the stock Bell firmware and change the phone so it is locked to Bell. If this were the case, owners could switch carriers by flashing different firmware.

Unlocking is permanent and unlocks to every carrier. Knowing which one you're locked to only matters to get a unlock code, after that, it's free for all.

Gotcha, so there's no point in flashing Bell firmware at all. I just need the correct one for getting an unlock code in the first place. Thanks for helping a noob out.

Put these settings in the APN fields.

Hey thanks for your fast reply. I put in the info you provided, double checked, rebooted with no luck... however I did notice that the Cellular network type changed from unknown to HSPA if that helps, once again the help is much appreciated.
Any suggestions anyone? Would flashing a stock ruu or something along those lines enable me to start using data ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe. The most recent AT&T RUU is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/general/htc-one-m8-ruu-m8ul-4-4-3-t2860423
Did you buy the phone new or used? Did you buy the phone rooted and s-off? Or did you do it yourself?
What hboot and baseband number?

Hey I appreciate the response, sorry for getting back to you so late.. I purchased the phone through a friend who had done nothing with it. I rooted and got it s-off myself via a fantastic walkthrough here on XDA. I then put (sorry I can't link the rom) SkyDragon Google Play Edition Version 4.2.1 on it and then activated it.
hboot: 3.19.0.0000
baseband: 1.21.213311491.A04G_20.51A.4198.01L_F
Like I said it is working fine as far as texts and calls, but I have no data.
-Thanks again for your time.
Interesting, I don't see a reason why data isn't working. Try to switch back to a Sense ROM, Android 4.4.4 (software 3.x) based, and see if there is any change.
What firmware did you use to update hboot/radio (I don't know the radio numbers off hand) is it WWE or something else (US Dev Edition, etc.)?
