Good quality Micro USB cables - Galaxy S II Accessories

Hi,
Does anyone know of any good quality USB 2.0 Micro USB cables for use for charging the Galaxy S2 and also for connecting it to PCs?
Thanks,
James

Errr I use a variety of micro usb cables for my soon-to-be-expelled-into-space Galaxy (i7500)
- Nokia
- Blackberry
- Generic
and guess what...they all do exactly the same thing. Get the cheapest.

Cool, thanks. I had heard that some don't take a full charge...

I have had quite a few issues with thin, cheap micro usb cables not charging properly. Had issues charging HTC Legend, HTC Desire and LG Optimus 2x. Even when using a 1amp wall socket usb charger, they took forever to charge the devices. Bought a handfull of HTC and LG cables and now no more charging problems.

Loving the Amazon Kindle charger. You can plug in any micro USB cable and it charges just fine.

Sorry to contradict you but this is not entirely true.
Yes, they all get the job done but in terms of charging it can take you up to 4 times longer with a low quality USB cable.
To prove this to myself, after buying a cheap USB cable on Ebay and noticing a much longer charge time, I used a 1 Amp USB wall charger and measured the output current at the micro-USB end of each cable (cheap and original). The oiginal HTC cable gives around 700-800mA whereas the cheap one only gives around 250mA.
Conclusion : It takes 3 times longer to charge the battery using the cheap cable that the original cable.
Get's even worse when connected to a PC cause USB ports usually only give out 500mA. If you divide that by 4 when using a low quality cable, charging takes forever.
They are both USB 2.0 cables so the data transfer is probably the same, but the the cheap cable is much thinner which is probably why there is more loss in current.

Car Charger - Slow Charging

Hello,
I'm trying to find a car charger that will work right with my One. So far I've tried two different 2-USB port car chargers and both 2.1A chargers and I've gotten an error of "Slow Charging" on my one. I've tried various chargers I had from before when I had an iPhone and they are giving me the same warning. Is there a charger that is known to work well with the One?
Thanks,
Tim
Try using a different USB cable as some of them have different pin configurations. I am using http://www.amazon.com/Anker%C2%AE-Output-Simul-Port-Charger-Built-/dp/B0080AWCTY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1373316550&sr=8-4&keywords=anker+car+charger this Anker car charger and I have never got any messages. Although every charger does charge the One slowly. If you leave the screen on and use the phone (like ingress or navigation) the phone looses charge while charging.
Hi, i'm using this one for myself
Two USB ports and charges pretty fast
Also works at home
http://www.amazon.com/Sprint-Vehicle-Battery-Charger-Travel/dp/B0050FDFQQ/ref=pd_sim_sbs_cps_1
I just went through this as well and have solved it by buying the HTC vehicle charger. You can check your phone charging in the car by going into "Settings" and then to "Power". When the phone is plugged in it will indicate charging either by USB (slow) or AC which is faster.
I have several car chargers including 2.1 amp models and every single one would only go to USB charging mode. Another quick way to tell if you're in USB charge mode is that the screen will turn on when you plug in the charge cable. In AC charge mode the screen stays blank when you plug in.
I picked up the HTC single port USB charger online at Amazon for around $10 bucks. Plugged it in with my existing USB cable and boom, AC mode. Model of the charger I believe is C200 (pn 25531) and it comes with a coiled charger cord as well. They also have a dual port charger which is the C300 but I haven't tested that one.
I also feel a little more comfortable using the HTC charger as I know it's tested and sanctioned by HTC. Not that I haven't used a lot of really good in-car USB chargers by other manufacturers but in this case, the HTC charger is doing the job and was inexpensive. Cheers!
Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. I like having two USB ports, but it's pretty rare I charge both my Blackberry and One at the same time so I'll probably just get the single port. I see it on Amazon for less than $6, whereas the dual port is $25!

You're using the two port one? I just didn't want to pay so much extra to have a two port charger when I can get the one port for so cheap. Also, I did just discover that while running ARHD GE I don't get the error, so it seems to only be the Sense related error, but either way I ordered the HTC charger from Amazon, thanks!

The official htc one car charger in the htc website is only one works for me. 24.00but worth it.

these duel USb chargers from just wireless charge 1A per port in AC mode ... can pick them up at walmart or target

I use Avantek. This little guy did an excellent job. With its combination of power ports and USB plugs it works perfectly for everything from iPads to radar detector. Charges my phone as fast as my home charger and always gives full charge to my One when I'm using the navigation app. FYI I found it on Amazon.
I buy from Amazon
Only have had my phone for 3 months but I have only used the HTC charger and cable one time. The charger got extremely hot when I charged my phone, since that first time I have used a samsung galaxy tab charger and samsung galaxy tab 6' usb cable. I have a 2.1 amp dual charger from pepboys in my truck. Phone charges quickly and does not overheat or any of the other issues i've heard of on here. I just chalk it up as samsung having good chargers and usb cables.
See my post regarding fast charging for specifics on the electrical damage in a car and the value of having a good charger:

Is a fast USB car charger harmful?
On that note. Monoprice.com offers great chargers at a great price. Guaranteed to charge at stock speeds. Great internal parts and quality control at near eBay pricing. I've bought many many of their products over the years and never has it once failed in me.
Alternatively, and unpractically, buy stock chargers.

The best car charger that I've found is from TechMatte. They have a black one and a white one, and I use the black one. It charges pretty quickly, and was only $8 to purchase, which was not bad at all for a high quality charger.

Help me understand micro usb cables and slow charging

I have been having trouble recently with my galaxy s3 charging extremely slowly. Every since the OEM cable broke, I have tried to find replacements that charge at 1amp. The only cable that does this is the monoprice premium micro usb cable 6ft, but it breaks quite easily. I have also tried the 28awg 6ft monoprice cables, which were pathetic and charged at 100ma. This was all plugged into the OEM 1a wall charger fyi.
I have heard that the 24awg cables with ferrite core charges at a full 1 amp because the cables are thicker, but what I don't understand is that the OEM and premium monoprice cables both charge at 1100mah but are really thin compared to even the 28awg cable. The OEM and monoprice cables don't have specifications printed on them. I had always thought that generic usb cables were the same as OEM cables, and would charge at the same speed, unless there's something wrong with my micro usb port or phone.
I have tried looking for solutions but the answers on most forums are people asking why their phone charges slow when it is plugged into a usb port, and everyone just replies that the usb port output is limited to 500mah, but I am using the oem ac adapter and it's still slow. Only the premium monoprice cable charges full speed but its very poor in quality, the rubber cable separates from the plastic micro usb head, and it breaks. I have had 3 of these premium cables break in less than a weak and only 1 of them works, for now.
Is it my phone's micro usb port? I tried charging it using CM10.1 as well as Touchwiz 4.1.2, but they all charge slowly from the generic cables so it can't be the rom. I don't remember having any of these problems when I first bought the phone on ICS, and I don't see many posts on slow charging.
Is there a cheap, reliable cable that charges at a full 1 amp out there? Most people I've seen had suggested monoprice cables but their 6 foot micro usb cables have changed recently and are really, really bad. I guess the ferrite core cable might work, but I have yet to try it, and I am not fond of the idea of a thick 24awg cable and a big ferrite core sticking out of my phone.
First of all, do you have Galaxy Charging current app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abmantis.galaxychargingcurrent.free - I think it's free for N2 and S4, but you have to pay $0.99 for S3 (I use it for free on my N2, but a buddy of mine had to pay to use it on his S3). That app will give you an idea of what's going on. You can also check out Charging Doctor I reviewed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451375
Second, charging speed is a combination of both a charger and a cable. The only way to guarantee full 1A/2A output without high resistance which contributes to a drop of charging speed is to use thick wired cables like 24AWG as you correctly pointed out. But with wall chargers - just because they state 1A you will NOT actually get 1A due to efficiency losses. You know how your charger gets warm? That due to AC/DC conversion inefficiency which results in drop of speed and release of energy in a form of a heat. I personally don't trust labels on cheap chargers and also over the time even an efficiency of a trusted converter will go down. I have reviewed a lot of Anker batteries and chargers (check out review link in my signature), and those are the one I highly recommend.
What I would recommend getting one of these trusted 2A chargers and use 24AWG cable and check it with Charging Current app. If you are still seeing a very slow charging speed it means your micro usb connector is wearing off or loosing a contact with a main printed wiring board (pwb) inside of the phone.

What's the secret of HTC USB cable ?

It may just be a higher quality USB cable. I bought a monoprice gold plated cable with a ferrite core and it works great!
It got higher ampere, but doesn't note 3 have usb 3.0 charger cable out of the box? anyway, i believe it's a 2.0 amp adapter.
BUT, do you mean just the cable or? because some cables are poor quality, and not delivering all the power to the phone, chinese cables for example does (some cheap ones).
I dont recommend to fast charge if possible, try to charge your phone as much slow as possible (with slow, i dont mean charging from pc, just dont use those fast-charge options and/or high ampere adapters, it could decrease battery capacity, and overheat the phone during charging. I did some experiment with my stock charger with 2.0 amp, and another stock samsung charger which is 1.5amp, and it charged slower, but guess what? my battery somewhat feels like it lasts longer. Maybe i feel.

USB cable, 2 Meter long with high or same speed as original cable?

I want to get 2 Meter long Micro USB cable for OnePlus One, Which should charge OnePlus One same speed as original cable is doing. I have tried few from Amazon.in but no luck, also tried the local brand oem cable but no luck.
Please suggest that can be Available in India and budget is Not higher than 500 Rs.
I'm using the anker one. http://www.amazon.it/gp/aw/d/B00SUX...r+usb&dpPl=1&dpID=31ynDmfEZZL&ref=plSrch&th=0
90,180,300 cm is your choice. Same charging speed if not better.
Charging speed with the Anker cables is really great. I am mainly using this one: http://amzn.com/B00MLP3JMS
Buy usb cable online in india
I understand this problem. i have alredy faced this problem by purchasing local usb cable. so i suggest u to always buy branded gadgets. Now i have Ultraprolink USB cable and its performance is better. i think this option is also good for u.
Link please
Very happy with Monoprice's micro USB cables on eBay...fast charge, good prices...
90,180,300 cm is a lot of length!
I use 2.4 AMP Micro USB Sync & Charging Cable (1m) (Reversible), 2.0 amp rate = fast charging and works with data transfer as well. Its about a meter in length.
I'm also having some strange cabel behavoir.
I'm charging my OPO using a Samsung Cabel. This Cabel charges my S5 with 2000mAh. But, the same cabel on the OPO just charge with 500mAh only.
Might the OPO has some kinda cabel detection?
it is impossible to have a quick charger for a 2M long cable
I use Aukey 2m micro USB wire. You'll find it on amazon.in. its under Rs. 400. Great cable. Reputed international brand.

[Q] Need a new charger - where should I look for a good one?

Hi.
Two questions:
1. Where should I look for one?
Found this on Ali-express but wanted your opinion:
http://bit.ly/2ze7U2U
2. Regarding the cable: are all cables the same? Or is this (in link - the one that comes with the OPO) different (can move more current)?
Trying to save where I can
Thank you!

I have been using a 5V 2.1A charger (from Belkin) but with a "regular" old Samsung micro-usb cable and it took 6 hours to charge till full.
I can't imagine it's right.
Perhaps a new, more powerful cable?
Also, how long should it take to fully charge the One?
Thank you!!! :good:

if you use cable that support fast charge you can charge your phone less then 2 hour...just get a cable that support fast charge or support quick charge 2.0 and you will see the difference....
getting a good cable makes all the difference. I'm not sure if it is due to Lineage, firmware or the kernel... but my OPO has been very picky with the charging cable for at least the last 9 months. I first noticed this when my Jaybird Bluebuds X flat short cable charged significantly faster (then i lost the cable). then on some cables, it would say it's charging but the percentage would remain constant or even drop at a slower rate! I then tried different cables and charger combinations using the the AccuBattery app and OPO Charging Current app to note the ampere.
the xiaomi fast charging micro usb 1.2m flat cable is cheap and charges "fast". I highly recommend the xiaomi cable (i even bought like 4 of them for the office and for home).
paired with new-ish samsung quick charge chargers (which came with the S7 and C5 Pro that i had lying around), i get about 1.58A (screen off).... i also get comparable results with an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 charger from like 2011 and an ipad 3 charger.

well I went with blitzwolf ...I don't use my original charger as blitzwolf is faster(just a tad but still) ...BW-S5 is my main and I've ordered an BW-S9(I'll make BW-S5 a second to charge my phone in my shop and also charge clients phones/tablets if needed - I fix them too)
BW-S5 has an extended review from a dude with all the pros and cons ...great review if you want to look at it(he'll do the S9 as well but didn't receive it yet and I couldn't wait, I needed a good 2nd one)
P.S. Using custom cable made by me to avoid getting slow charges(only power cable, no data - for safety too)
I'm on this charger: http://s.aliexpress.com/qeaIfIrE and reversible micro USB cable from the same manufacturer (reversible micro usb seems to be not available to buy any longer though, I can see regular micro usb only)
Both are excellent.
Reccomend a Anker Charger

Chotech SMT0008 5V/2.4A charger
Hi anybody who want to use a longer cable (1.8m -3m) without losing the charging speed, I would recommend Chotech SMT0008 5V/2.4A charger. You would be able to increase the charging speed up to 10-15%.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CHO...er-for-iPhone-Samsung-Xiaomi/32742790687.html
This charger can supply up to 5.5V to compensate USB cable resistance (especially when using a longer cable).
https://lygte-info.dk/review/USBpower Choetech usb 5V 2.4A SMT0008 UK.html
Don't forget a good quality cable as well for fast charging. Up to 1.5m 22AWG is OK, but over 1.5m get a 20-21 AWG cable. If you want to learn about cable resistance during charging the below article is helpful.
https://goughlui.com/2014/10/01/usb-cable-resistance-why-your-phonetablet-might-be-charging-slow/
I myself use Chotech SMT0008 5V/2.4A with a Tronsmart 20AWG 1.8m cable. I have tested some cables: Mageek 21AWG 3m, Blitzwolf 21AWG 1.8m, Ugreen 22AWG 1.5m all of them are OK. Avoid VoxLink cables !! their "fast cable" uses fake 24-28AWG!
