Do you like my SGS II Android Robot? - Galaxy S II Accessories

My korean friend sent me this over from Korea since we both bought this phone practically on the same week. Me in London, him in Seoul.
Thinking of selling a ton of these as they are good screen wipers.
You guys like?

Very nice! So, the Galaxy S2 does have a place to put cellphone straps in? Or do you need some kind of adapter?

I want that phone strap !!
Edit: Found it on ebay. LOL

There is a insertion hole above the volume rocker. Loving my robot

Yeah I was wondering where that hole was on my S2, considering most phones developed by Asia based companies have some sort of cell phone strap hole or hook. You open the back plate and loop the strap onto a bit of plastic inside the back compartment. I thought it was a mic or speaker hole at first and didn't look into it further.
Also found my T-DMB antenna on the other side, it's a good 22cm long. It's been just under two weeks now, I feel like an idiot.

Take the battery cover off
Get a needle ready. I have some fine twezzers I used
push the end of the robot cord up and grab with needle..then gentlyuse other end of needle to push it around the small plastic raised bit and make sure its secure and replace cover
I ve hung my phone over sofa and flicked it side and spun it and it doesnt come out or pull batter off

that bulge on the side is a serious buzz kill
Yeah wtf its the bulge about?

just a guess here but I'm thinking the bulge is the micro usb connection to the backup battery in the case.

The Mytouch4G 'Boner Skin'.
where could i get this case?
Too bad the MT4G doesn't have an alternate way of charging aside from the usb port so that a case like this could use a less intrusive, low profile, way of making contact. Like charging pins or something maybe...
Ignoring the side pins for a moment... Why is that bulge so large? It's like the designer has never seen a right angle plug on anything before.

Recycled one piece silicone case with a comfortable non-slip cover and full protection. Smart sensing, rechargeable built-in battery that keeps your myTouch powered automatically. LED lights that show your current battery strength and charge status
Patented XPAL battery chemistry providing twice the power and ultra thin profile.
Still waiting for something that uses the pins on the side... *sigh*

I got this case for 70 bucks from T-mobile store. I have used it for about a week and love it. The bulge is a micro USB connector underneath. You charge the case from the oppisite side when installed on phone. Can't computer doesn't read phone with case installed. The budge doesn't get in the way though. Almost adds a better grip. I would buy it again.
I just got the case today adds a lot of bulk and the case is slippery.

i saw it at the tmo store but unfortunately i'm not fond of rubber skin cases so i had to pass since i couldn't see it outside of the box but i'm really considering trying it out
That's the one thing I hate about mytouch 4g is the side usb connection!
Can't hold the darn thing while charging !
Case is a piece of crap because it lacks a power switch. This means it charges the phone whether it has to or not. Returned it today.

Modified stock portfolio case for charger

I know I am not the only one to feel some dissapointment in one or more aspects of the portfolio case from Moto. I had this mod in mind mere minutes after I first placed my launch day Xoom inside but wanted to be sure I would not wish to return it before hacking away. At any rate I have decided that the overall design is quite to my liking with the exception of the charging port situation.
The process below is how I choose to deal. The whole project took about 20-25 minutes. I am not a true craftman of any kind but the end result is one that will stand up to casual observation and I can take this into a clent meeting without fear of embarrassment.
1) Determine the proper amount of clearance required an to use a patch of post it note to mark the spot.

}
2) Overlay a second but larger patch of post it note so that it covers the original cut out portion of the cover. Next use a razor to trim away excess post it note in order to create a template of the original curve.
3) Relocate the newly created template leftward using the original post it note to maintain proper spacing and alignment.
4) Use tape to fully secure the template and cut the plastic with your tool of choice. I used a dremel multi-max tool with the "standard" wood metal blade. The curve was done with a normal dremel and a mini sanding drum on low speed.
5) Test fit plug and enjoy.

Forgot about screen rotation But you still have to access on/off button, and it would be hidden (in closed state, of course) Anyway, nice solution
PS: Thought about such modification (but without rotating the device) prior to buying this case, but it was reduced to making only a small hole for charger
Good Idea! I just left the tablet in the normal way and used a soldering iron to melt a small round hole in the bottom of the case where the power adaptor goes. Since the case is made of some sort of rubber it melts easy. The hole came out good and looks almost stock.
Awesome thanks for the idea. Was trying to figure out how to make a nice hole

Transmission sent from a Galaxy S II, CODENAME style.
You could mount it on a motorcycle, however, it doesn't fit the epic I forgot that the SGII is 4.3 inch and our phones our a bit bigger. I really like to product so I will be modifying it to fit, wont be the best but its better then all the other ones that leave the phone out in the open.
Bought this a few months for both my son & I. It has a bungee to keep it from flying off over railroad tracks. Highly recommended.

Thanks I did notice but the s has a 4" screen which is even smaller, the volume and power might align better though. I cut out holes for the volume and power button obviously not as water proof anymore but really I just want it to protect the screen/speaker/front front from any moisture which it still does. I also had to modify the rubber lining because the screen didn't aligh with the screen on the case and I was unable to press the home/back etc buttons.
BTW I found my on ebay for $30 so if anybody is looking for one start there. It does not show the brand on ebay but its the same stuff.
Placeholder for now. I'm out and will search when I get home. This'll just show up in my subs so I don't forget. There's a member Miami_Son, he does serious off road riding and found an adjustable mount he used for the captivate.

oh the irony, i was just about to make a thread asking for recommendations for a bike mount...
@polska, can you share the link of the one you found on ebay? is it specific to the ET4G ?
This is what I got, again keep in mind the that SII is 4.3" not 4.5 like our phones and the buttons do no align
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-GAL...633177?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5649389819

I'm getting ready for a motorcycle trip next month and bought a waterproof hard case from Ultimate Mobiles in the UK completely forgetting that the European s2 has a smaller screen. It will cost more to send it back to the UK than I'd get for a refund so Ivee been looking at modifying it, sadly I can't without making the case useless. The charger and mount will work perfectly for whatever solution I finally end up with.
I'm very interested to see if the ebay case works for our phones, if so I'd be all over it!

So I got a T999 T-Mobile Galaxy S3 off Craigslist for $80 with a shattered screen (lights up and makes noise but no image). Thought I'd make a thread of my progress/observations.

Guy got it for Christmas, broke three days later. Came with original box.
16 GB T999
Took the phone apart to get to screen assembly and noticed this.
I thought I'd been had, until I noticed this.
So, an i747 is just re-purposed to being a t999? I've been searching other threads to find info but haven't found any.
(Either way I use T-Mobile, so as long as it is a t999 all should be well...just thought that it odd to have an AT&T model # in a T-Mo phone.)
Can't wait to finally get a working Galaxy S3, got lucky in much the same way when I got my Galaxy S2 (i777) on the cheap by just replacing the screen (which I then sold for my Galaxy Nexus, which I sold to save up for one of these). Looks like I'll be getting to pocket a lot of that.
Exploded view, found a ribbon cable labeled GT-I9300...good to know parts are so cross-compatible on this model.
AFAIK some parts are just stamped that way.

Nope, as with any Samsung device, dis-assembly is quite straightforward. Literally a single screw holding the mobo, everything else held in place by ribbon cable tension and the adhesives holding those down. 10 screws around the outside perimeter holds all the plastic covers on.
Aside from the heavy adhesive holding my i777 S2's screen, dis-assembly was about the same simplicity...Apple devices on the other hand make you solve riddles to get them apart (not to mention multitudes of specific-sized screws).
...another reason why Samsung has my vote over Apple (had every iPhone from original to 4S...still didn't come close to my GS2/GNex).
And every one of those phones (with exception to GNex) was purchased broken...tis a sort of fun hobby

The only stickers I've seen so far are moisture indicators and like...1 strip of tape over the Wi Fi antenna cable.
Looks interesting. Had to take mine apart a little while back because my half retarded German Shepherd knocked a Coke over on it It was a pretty straightforward process, and I don't recall any warranty stickers on mine either.

Its plastic. CNC machined then engraved then light scotch brite rub for a matte finish.
Prototype created by calprecision.com
I went with 4 Neodymium Magnets 1/2 x 1/8 inch Disc N48. 4 discs hold fine since I keep my phone naked. Even a case like the Neo hybrid from spigen allows charging.
Let me hear your thoughts.
wanna build me one? ill make it worth your time
If the magnets hold strong enough with a case on while using it in a car you have a hit on your hands. Or if a small bracket could be added to the bottom to ensure it doesn't slide off would be good too.
Sent from the jaws of my Hammerhead!
Where would you mount this in a car. I had 2 made originally. One for me one for a co worker. He did a little something on the bottom because he has a case. It wouldn't be hard to make it more professional.
I only needed 4 magnets, he needed six, but with eight it would hold very tight.
These could be done, and probably would have to, without the nexus logo. Thereby opening it up to other devices.
id take one just like that one right now lol
Looks Good
Can you please post a picture with N5 resting on the charger? Any plans to sell it? I will buy one if you can ship internationally.
I'll get you a pick later today or tomorrow psy_spy
How much would everyone be willing to pay for the dock? Market rate of $65 plus shipping? That's if these were to actually be produced. Would this dock be comparable, in your eyes, to the tylt vu dock?
Me too i take one.
How much for the dock with charger and can you post internationally? :good:
I'll take one!
As promised phone charging image.
clean setup man! let me know if you ever decide to make more to sell cause im definitely interested!
I'd be in for one.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I'd also buy one
oh. maybe start a kickstarter for it?
Brilliant, how much?
I'm interested as well if its got a strong magnetic hold on the phone
Is there any chance you could build something like that but with a different shape? I mean, I would prefer a dock/charging station that could hold the phone horizontaly.
Would that be possible?
The dock as i have it now has a good hold on the phone, even landscape. I actually typically have my phone in that direction. I have been rolling ideas around in my head for different configuration of the magnets and charging coil.
I 'm going to start a kickstarter and see what ground it picks up. Maybe toy with some design options or possibilities. I also need a sweet name for it, anyone got any ideas? If this thing takes off I would offer the dude that gave up the name something in return obviously.
If these were in the $55-$65 would everyone still be interested in them?
kickstarter would be sweet. $55-$65 via kickstarter or retail? are you thinking about including the charging coil?
by any chance do you have a nexus 7 (2013)? just wondering if this would work with the nexus 7 as well.

55-65 would be retail, kickstarter would be in the 30-45 range i would think. Im looking at other projects to se how they have them set up. There is A LOT to making a project....
Does the N7 have magnets? would pronanly be to heavy and would require a set up similar to a phone that doesnt have magnets.
The nexus 7 2013 does have magnets. They don't seem to be as strong as the 1s in the nexus 5. They might just seem weaker because they're spaced out more tho.
