[Q]Create a theme app/cook theme into rom? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One of two things I'd like to do.
1.create an android theme app for the cm7 theme manager
2.or, be able to cook/insert theme into a post inc rom build. Can someone help or point me to someone who can?
I realized this topic had been covered for other devices but not the inc.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean.. pretty much just follow this guide and by the end you just have to drag the file to your phone and install then select it from the T-Mobile theme chooser.

Is there a way to copy a theme from a particular ROM?

I saw a ROM that I like the Theme of but I don't want to use that ROM. It doesn't use some features that I would like on my phone. I wanted to use another ROM but wanted to use the theme I liked. Is there a way to extract/copy a theme from a ROM?
Most of the roms here are using themes as basis that have already been released and posted up in seperate threads, so you could just search through the forum and find the one you're looking for.
You could also just take that one, extract the theme files, and then just drag them into your own phone's apk and adb push it back into your phone.

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to search around and read up to find those theme files.
I noticed your K-Style theme and that is what I want to do! I want to get icons (or even make them myself) and replace the one in the EnamoRed Theme to have my own touch. From that I will build my own ROm for with features that I like. I doubt it would be anything like the ROMs on here but just my own monster.

How can I chance the notifications screen to that one?

I want to change the notification screen to this one, is it possible? how can I do it?
Not sure I can see the identical screenshot, but there are very similar themes in JKay's theme mod thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154278
Or maybe try the uot kitchen?
http://uot.dakra.lt/
it is a screenshot from Steel Blue CM7 Theme for SGS2
how can I use this theme with my rom?
This is my baseband version: I9100TJJKF3
my kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100TJJKG1
build number: GINGERBREAD.JJKG1
Oh right - you could have said so...
Seems like you need a custom ROM first - choose one then the installation seems pretty straightforward, all you need is in that thread (Steel Blue thread)
If it's your first time for a custom ROM, read, read, read and search
If I will flash the custom rom and then re-flesh to my rom the theme will be gone? I have to use the custom rom all the time for this theme?
Sorry, I'm not concentrating or reading enough myself
There are themes for stock firmwares there - see post#2 - but not yours (KF3).
So if you want this theme on stock firmware, you'll have to choose another stock ROM (KF2 for example).
Yes, if you reflash stock over a custom ROM you'll lose the theme.
If it's only the notification bar you want and nothing else, I'd try the uot kitchen if I were you. I've not tried it myself, but it seems user-friendly, supports stock ROMs and you can customise just about everything.
I dont know how to use the uot kitchen, can you please help me?
I want to change the notification screen and bar to solid black, like on the pic I posted
Sorry - as said, I've never used it, and I'm offline for the next few hours.
Hope someone else can help.
Decompile SystemUI.apk, browse to /res/drawables-hdpi/ and find the picture you want to change, replace it, compile it and switch the drawables-hdpi folder in the apk

can you please explain step by step how to do it?
I'm new to android. I know how to flash roms and kernels but that's it.....
As I'm sure Bruflot is well aware of, his "advice" is something that someone new to this shouldn't touch with a bargepole.. I'm still new enough not to try...
Just tried a quick go with the uot kitchen and it will do what you want, just play with it. The "generate preview" will help enormously. If I had time I'd do it for you, but screaming kiddies await me...

[HELP]Porting some CM7 Themes to TW Version

Hi There Guys,
I am trying to make a perfect ROM for Android with
Check ROM and WP7 Metro UI
I've noticed that there is a CM7 Theme for Metro UI
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1219691 - WP7 Theme
But i dont know too much on theme porting and making, as far i've studied i've manage to make a simple port of the theme.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/checkrom/files/Theme/All DK Versions/WP7_test.zip/download
It's a theme test for WP7 its very buggy and confusing, but the theme system its great don't need to compile anything just put the files and the System will flash them.
If any Themer want to help me porting this theme i will be very appreciated
There is another porting ideas too but haven't started those yet.

No one want some of this themes on Galaxy S 2?
I would like it, but I don't have the knowledge to help u :/
You'll just have to open up the apps you want themed (settings.apk for settings icons, sysyemui.apk for status bar battery etc) with winrar and add and overwrite the corresponding images that you want replaced. To edit XML files for font size, color etc, you'll have to use apktool to decompile the apps first.

Feeling creative in the theme kitchen?

I've grown bored with the 50-odd themes i have in my theme chooser. Wanna make me a theme? give it a shot, throw me a link and I'll upload it to my phone. I'm super bored but I can't really make themes right now (laid up in bed, and banned from the computer until I'm feeling better) so help a guy out!
Currently running CM7 nightly #134.
When you're done, send me the link or zip file!
I've tried kitchen but I really don't understand everything like the part at the end where you upload the system file from your phone. Any advice

theme chooser to zipthemer?

Was wondering if anyone out there knows of a way to take a theme chooser (apk) theme and turn it into a zipthemer theme. I know you can extract the apk just as if it were a zip file but I don't know what images go into what packages for zipthemer. Essentially I have a theme that was free that I love but I just upgraded my ROM to pa3.94 which doesn't have theme chooser anymore so I'm hoping there's a way to create a zipthemer theme with the extracted theme chooser theme. Anyone? Thank you in advance for any help.

There are several ways to do what you want to do, regardless from the fact that I hate roms without theme chooser and I have the strong suspect that this feature or similar will be officially integrated in KLP 5.0, hopefully, but:
1) you can create a vrtheme.zip, this way you only need a deodex system/app and the images will be flashed into the apk's, so non need for theme chooser
2) an easy one is UOT kitchen, you can create a basic theme composed by framework and systemUI, ofc you want to flash the output from the kitchen with a custom recovery, so no need for theme chooser..I don't know how is the support with android 4.x.x, but since it's very popular I asuume it will support latest android release (not sure for 4.3 specifically)
3) you can use exposed framework, just google "xposed framework" it will give you a lot of results, pick up one and start learn how it works..indeed it's basically a series of modules (apk) that allow you a series of customizations, among them, theming ones (battery, background, statusbar icons..etc)
4) but I understand this is probably out of your skills (just assuming, no offence), you can theme framework and systemUI to obtain what you want..you said the theme it's free, so you can do this, but it's very complicated, it implies xml edits, not just a right collocations of png's
5) You can also build a rom from source, and cherry pick the theme chooser code both from cyanogen git or aosp git (from a rom like slim rom or purity that has theme chooser as a feature in their code)...ofc, this is a dev job, I did it once on aosp, and it's not easy at all...theme chooser is more than two apk's, it requires a lot of framework edits, both in smali code and in the apk itslef, and a series of edits in setting.apk...very long way, very complicated, results are not 100% stable if you don't know exactly what you're doing..I mention this way of obtain what you asked just for the sake of the question.
..that's all I have to share for now..I personally use (when it's needed) vrtheme system, it's fast and clean, and allows you some xml customizations, but speaking frankly I eneded up using only rom that support theme chooser. Hope this helps:good:
ps. if you need further explanations, just ask me here, I'll help you as much as I can, but for now, take a look at the links below
