[Q] [App Request] Text Response Overlay? (MIUI style?) - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Basically I'm looking for an app that works the way MIUI handles receiving a new message. For those who don't know it goes as follows:
Instead of just displaying an icon notification MIUI actually visually shows you the entire message with the text box underneath, tapping the text box makes my keyboard come up allowing me to respond immediately all while still seeing what was happening prior to the text coming in the background. Once i hit send the message goes away and i'm back to whatever i was doing. (even though i never left and could see it the whole time)
Whats so great about this?
I don't have to pull down the notification tab, select the message, wait for it to open, respond, then hit back until hopefully back to where i left off.
Its all done over top of what i was doing seamlessly.
Is there an app like this for when i may want to try something other then MIUI? If not, someone needs to really make this.
EDIT :
great suggestions given and listed below.

had it for a bit, it would display a pop up notification, but when i hit reply it would take me to go sms messaging app and out of what i was doing. Once i was done with sending the message i'd still have to exit out of the convo thread and the messaging app itself to get back to where i was.
Not quite what i'm looking for.

I use this the way you described in the OP. I answer directly in the popup, and hitting "Send" just sends the message, and closes the popup. Unless I've received multiple messages in which case I can answer them all one by one. I can also scroll this popup to read the individual messages. I urge you to try again.

thanks for all the suggestions guys!
although i would like to continue using the standard messaging app and not move to a new one.
Regardless i will update the first post with links to your suggestions

All you have to do is to install Go SMS, and then choose the iPhone theme
I did that, but after that, i received messages both in GO SMS an Stock Messenger app.How to do to receive messages only in Go SMS or set Go SMS as default?

I use 360 launcher and when click message icon there is a option to select default but I think it's a launcher option.
Anyway try the launcher it's cool and I'm in love with it it's amazingly smooth.I extracted it from a ROM in development section and use it over cm7.for screen shots check the LG ROM there.

I don't know about you, but when i installed it I got the question about whether I wanted use GoSMS as the default application for receiving messages. But you could do this:
Go into messages (the normal app) -> Menu -> Settings -> Scroll down to where it says notifications, and unhook it That should work.
Worked when I installed the ported ICS Messaging app and had the same problem as you
None will receive. It's the android system that receives the sms and not the app. The app only deals with them. It will appear on both and you can use even both. That's why you choose the default one

Both receive but GO sms allows u to.disable notifications in stock app
I think this will help you. if it does please THANK me.

Sprint and Google voice

I have been restoring a titanium backup of voice for a long time but being the happy new owner of a GNex I Installed fresh from the market. It didnt ask about the google voice number integration (the part we all skipped) Did I miss something or have they changed something. I also remember it asking about texting but now it only asks about calls. Can someone confirm. Thanks

I'm not sure what your question is? Do you or don't you want the integration? Are you having problems making or receiving calls or texts?

I dont want integration I just remember having to skip that part and now it no longer asks. I just wanted to verify with someone who has set it up recently that they removed that part. also if someone who JUST uses it for voicemail only would check their settings within voice > sync and notifications > it says receive texts via google voice app (which was another step which was missing I didnt choose that option upon expanding it the choices are that and via the messaging app. I do not want google voice to do anything but voicemails and the new app dosent appear to have the previous steps to deselect those options. I was just looking for verification
Thanks
also on the sprint GNex I recieve a flashing led upon rec of a voicemail but do not have the flashing led with a new text can someone verify this as well Thanks agn
Edit
I chaged the setting to receive texts via the messaging app and now i get a flashing indicator weird
U can select it to receive text also but it doesn't automatically integrate....have to go into settings and check it....

Text Messages linking to Calendar

This may not be note 10 specific but I know this didn't occur on my Note 9. I've noticed since last night when I started texted with my note 10 that any text I send with "today" "tonight" "Tomorrow" Upon sending the text message the word becomes a link to create a new calendar item. Thus far I've been unable to find a way to turn this off. Has anyone else noticed this? If so has anyone found a way to stop this behavior?

Try turning this off in your message app settings.

No change unfortunately. Had tried that already and just tried it a second time after your suggestion.
Anyone ever find a solution to this? It's super annoying. Happens with both the Samsung messaging app and the Google messaging app on my S10e.

Thanks.... but was asking about SMS text messages, the subject of this thread.
For me it's under calendar itself.
Go into calendar settings or app settings for calendar and clear it's data and restart the calendar setup.

Yes, i know what's your subject of thread.
However, above info etc,
was my fix to my "problem",
when i had similar issues .
I found that it was my G calendar was recording Sms.... , email etc, everything, that had references to dates, days etc.!
and as my Samsung and Google calendars are linked,
it appeared in both calendars, as events etc.....!
Bottom line,
If my fix /info, does not apply to you or fix issues.... just ignore !
Good luck
I see. Thanks. I can't find any setting in my calendars that is linking to gmail or SMS. And it happens only on the stock Samsung and Google messages apps, not 3rd party SMS apps like Textra or Handcent. So I assume it's something related to the SMS apps...

Using Voice to text with Messages text app - annoying problem

Samsung Galaxy S20
Messages App
Microsoft Swiftkey keyboard
I just got this Galaxy S20. On my previous phone (Galaxy S9), when I hit the little "microphone" button on my SwiftKey keyboard to do voice to text when using the Messages App for texting, I would simply start talking and the words I was creating by voice would populate the text field in Messages. I could easily see the words as I spoke. After I was done taking, I'd just hit the send button and I was good to go.
With this S20, when I hit the little microphone button, the window pictured below (left image) pops up. It is super annoying for a few reasons. One, that stupid grey box that says "Your audio Will be sent....." blocks the first several words that I am speaking, so I can't see that the text to words is translating correctly. Second, if I stop talking for around a second, the voice to text assumes I'm done speaking and closes, preventing me from adding more words if I hesitate to complete a thought. Third and worst of all, after I'm done talking the words I just spoke don't transfer to the text field in Messages. If I tap the empty text field in messages, SOMETIMES the words I just spoke suddenly appear in the text field- maybe 50% of the time. Supper annoying as half the time I have to repeat the whole voice-to-text process or revert to typing.
On my S9, when I hit the microphone button, I got a pop-up as shown in the second picture (bottom right), and my words simply transferred directly to the text field in Messages, where I could clearly see them and simply hit "send" when done speaking.
When I use Facebook Messenger and do voice-to-text, I still get the pop up box with the annoying grey "Your audio will be sent......" blocking my words, but when I'm done speaking, at least my words transfer into the empty text box automatically and edit/send as required.
Anyway, tried getting this answered on another Android forum to no avail. I hear the posters on here are much smarter : )

Samsung Messages - How to stop it from waking screen and how to see message text in notifications?

Hey Everyone, I have 2 quick questions regarding the Samsung Messages app. I am on 11.0 OneUI 3.0. When I receive a text my phone screen turns on for a second and I cannot figure out for the life of me how to stop it from doing that. Does anyone know how to stop that? Also, when I receive a text and I pull down my notifications panel it just says new message but doesn't show me who or a preview of the contents of the text message. I would like to have it not show that info on the lockscreen but when the phone is already unlocked I would like to see who the message is from and a preview of the text also, on top of that, when I get a text and I try to check it on my Fit2 it just says new message also. Does anyone know what setting I can change to fix that as well? I cannot seem to change the correct setting for either of these 2 issues. Thanks in advance!
Hi mate,
In order to screen not being woken up on receiving a text message you need to set up edge light notification instead - it will just show tiny colour animation instead. It is this or wake the screen. Alternatively, you can use different app for messages - Google Messages, Textra, etc. and set it up as you wish.
With relation to showing message content, you need to change it in Messages setting called Message Preview - it is turned off by default.
I hope this helps.

The setting should be under
Flash Notifications > Screen Flash Notifications
Do a search as soon as you open settings for Flash Notifications and you should see the toggle just below.
