[Q] i9100 replacement battery cover - Galaxy S II Accessories

Does anyone know if I can pickup a replacement Battery cover for my GS2? I picked my phone up this morning and noticed some scuff marks on the back of my beloved phone. Could I call Samsung and get one do you think?

i'd actually be intersted in getting metal one, the plaggy one feels a bit to flimsy to me, although a metal version would be harder to get off and on.

i'd be quite interested in some coloured battery covers actually - either metal or plastic.
accessories seem a bit thin on the ground at the moment though ...

I'd prefer it if you could buy a battery cover with a kick stand built in!

Anymode have back covers.

metal wouldnt be no good as the phone will over heat,

Really? Why would metal make the phone overheat, wouldn't it be more conductive than the plastic?

the opposite if anything, in fact
although id prefer plastic since its so light lol

Btw the plastic cover dissipates heat better than metal because of it's meshed surface => more surface exposed to air => more dissipation than plain slick metal or plastic.

Surely a metal back would conduct heat away from the phone better than a plastic back hence why computer chips are cooled by metal coolers and not plastic ones

Still no replacement cover out?

Also interested in another battery cover. Might just make the phone 100% perfect instead of 99%

wouldn't be kind of impossible to get the cover into place?

deas anyone have any problems with backcover.
When you pout your nail to open back cover it pops up for about 1mm or 1,5 mm in the air and does not close to the main suface of the phone.
All clicks are good bak on the left and up, but on the upper right it sticks out. I'm going to servise tommorow and I'll see what will they say (100% they will say that it is my faulth)

Metal would always be a better conductor of heat but the real problem with having a metal battery panel would be the shielding affected to the radio components of the phone. IE the effect on 3g, WIFI and bluetooth and a possible reduction in signal strength. Many phones with metal back covers and cases have grounding connections on the the covers to the motherboards of the phones to stop this problem. The SGS2 was not designed to have a metal battery cover so would not have these connections. The cover is designed to be thin and light and is there purely to hold the battery in and cover the sim and memory card so why have it made of metal?

sure but still: the back cover is made of cheap plastic. i really had to fight against myself to not open the cover as usual. it took me some minutes to take off the cover without breaking anthing. thats it for me tho. forget the metal...but the plastic is just really really thin imho. and the feel is kinda crappy....metal is the better choice here.

Does anyone know of a replacement battery case or phone case which makes the knob (? dunno the right word for it) at the bottom just as high as the rest of the phone? So that it makes it plain.
I really dislike that knob. The phone never lies straight and it feels awkward in the hands. I wish they had kept the height of the knob at the bottom and made it more like the LG X2 or so.

Not seen one as yet but no doubt there will be a higher capacity battery come on to the market. This would probably be from a third party manufacture with a replacement battery cover that will take up this space that you talk about. Seen many for HTC phones so I am sure there will be one for the SGS2.

I hope so. If someone makes a 4000 mamp battery it MIGHT last nearly a day.

Original (?) battery back-cover out on ebay!

just happened to see this, check it out. if it's not genuine, it looks pretty close doesn't it?
Anyway, at that price, you really can't complain haha

$16 for a back cover?
For that price, I'm going to guard the one that comes with the phone with my life.
Might as well just spend a little more and get the official Samsung flip cover case which replaces the back cover.

I don't think is very cheap for the back cover, because the back cover of the Note is not something that worth a lot. ( my thinking)

you'd be surprised at how much companies will charge for replacement parts. nokia AU tried to charge me $60 for a replacement back cover for my n900, and the only thing unique about it was an integrated kickstand.
Hmm... I might have to get this. May have been a bit rough opening my Note's backcover once and since then there's a bit of creaking/flexing on the side of the cover closest to the volume keys. Fairly sure the creaking wasn't there before and it's annoying atm.
Stick a square of padded tape beneath the cover where it creaks

The N900 back cover actually has the spring-loaded lens cover that launched the camera app, so its not exactly THAAAT simple. I know, I tried to fix mine when I dropped it and the lens cover wouldn't open smoothly anymore.

the camera cover was actually quite simple. the spring is just a spring. if you look on the back cover, theres a black/white strip that moves when you move the lens cover. theres a light sensor near the camera that is aimed at this strip and is used to detect when the cover is open or not. still not worth $60.

I thought about that. The problem though is that area appears to be one of the places where a lot of heat is generated when the phone is getting stressed (ie. playing intensive games), and the last thing I wanna do is reduce the cooling capability of the Note, particularly with summer around the corner.
Anything over 10USD for such a back cover is a theft, I'd expect to find a decent replacement for 6-7USD given the material.
I paid more than 10USD for a spare back cover of my HD2, and that was *metal* with epoxidic colouring. OEM producers are going crazy selling plastic pieces for that kind of price.
I'll pay for $15 for a white back cover that doesn't make noises, not for the creaky black one that makes noises as you hold it.

Leather Case Cover VERUS "Classic K"

i have found this case at ebay for galaxy note and would like to hear your oppinion about it? maybe anyone has it and can leave some feedback
ebay link http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leather-Cas...ccessories&hash=item3371580d09#ht_5270wt_1270
I have the brown one and it looks elegant but mine doesn't fit well. I mean, I can hear some squeaking when I press on both sides and honestly it bothers me sometimes. I don't know if it's just mine though. The texture feels great and it protects the four corners of the phone, which in my opinion are the areas most likely to hit the ground first if you drop them. It's not stitched and I feel that overtime the sides might separate. I have not tried the free screen protector because I'm not into screen protectors at all. I just really like feeling the glass when I swipe, lol.
I've got a black one, really nice quality
was half the price of the samsung cover (well in New Zealand anyway...)
and much nicer, covers the back perfectly and protects from drops all around and looks really stylish. No magnets or clips to haggle with for flipping the cover.
Its true its not stitched around the corners which gives in a potential to separate, but it seems like a very thick kind of rubber type sealant edging, not cheap superglue type stuff, so very flexible and shouldnt seperate unless you bend it in ways it shouldnt go.
I've had mine for a couple of months and stick it in my pocket everyday, flip the cover over fully to the otherside all the time for holding/calling, got a nice felt material inside on the screen side of the cover, plastic holder for the phone but holds the phone very well but you can still get the phone out easily if needed.
The cover sits perfectly flat on the phone (standard back cover on my phone probably wont fit one of those non-oem aluminium covers which are slightly thincker I believe)
Arrived in a couple of weeks from an ebay seller in Hong Kong I think..
I recommend it! and hey, its only a few bucks so no big loss if its not your exact preference
thank you guys for very well-explained feedback samsung original flip cover cost same price as this cover, so i prefer buying this verus cover instead samsung flip

If you mean if the front cover can easily flip to the back of the note I'd say yes and you could actually squeeze it flat not like the free flip cover that it leaves an extra front cover out the side so you can't really hold it flat comfortably. Also, the logo in the flip cover leaves a mark on the screen, but not really a biggy. It's either dirt or moisture because of the concavity, I'm not really sure. You can wipe it off easily though. I have mine for just a couple of weeks so maybe that'll disappear over time. And I agree, it's a good case for the price and you won't regret getting it.
I've attached some pictures for reference.
And a few more.

I have a red sweet armor and i have no complaints about it. I can access the battery. The sides are raised.
Though i have recently thought of getting a leather case.
Thanks for the help, you two^. rawr.itservin, have you noticed any impact on signal for GPS, WiFi, 3G on your phone?
I know aluminium is a fairly light metal but doesn't this just add unnecessary weight?
Not no really. Everything seems to be fine. There is a small "hole" on the left side for the antenna. I've only heard that the Aluminum battery covers had problems with GPS.
Here is how mine looks like.

That looks really nice, I'm using a castmate barley there at the moment but I do like the look of that. Would you recommend it? and how easy is it to put on?
Yes i have no regrets in buying the bumper. The only complaint i have is my jack that i have in my home stereo is too big for the hole on top for earphones. Sorry i couldn't find the correct terms.
But everything else is great. There is cushions inside so in case you drop it, it absorbs some shock. The power and volume controls are easily accesed.
In terms of taking it off and putting it back on, It will take awhile since it's being held by 4 screws.
This is the thread you're looking for.

the impossible to find case

unlike most people i prefer soft silicone cases. it makes the phone stick to damn near any surface and that is important for me. i would LOVE to find a case that integrates the silicone into the back battery cover (replaces the cover) and also follows the shape of the phone to the sides (bumpers). i have seen some "hybrid" cases that are metal/plastic on the back with silicone bumpers but they are cases and not battery cover replacements.
anyone understand what im shooting for? its not so much protection from being dropped but more the ability for the phone to "not slip" on various surfaces.
i would also entertain a combination of soft silicone bumpers and a different battery cover as long as the silicone bumper is raised off the back and front enough to provide grip/protection.

Personally I have a "carbon" skin on the back plate, and an aluminum bumper, but I had looked into getting a silicone one. The sticker on the back A) looks cooler B) gets rid of the stupid Tmobile branding, and C) does make it a littler easier to grip in hand, but I doubt it adds much grip to other surfaces.
I would think it pretty unlikely that there will be what you are looking for unless you were to make one/have one made. You might be able to find some sort of stick on product to attach to the battery cover though. I am thinking you could maybe take one of those pads designed to put on your dashboard to make things stick to the pad, and instead apply it directly to your phone. Might be pretty thick though, but that would also give you some protection. Then you could get a silicone bumper on ebay for a few bucks and have something similar to what you are looking for.

So, you basically want the opposite setup of an Otterbox? Soft silicone on the back?
This crazy query netted me a ton of results. Note 2 silicone case.
This isn't exactly what you are looking for, as you need the harder case to snap into the battery compartment, but it might be a start?

I would hate to have to put your phone into any sort of pocket, lol!
Not sure if you'll ever find once since the NFC chip is integrated into the battery door which means whoever makes a replacement will have to include a NFC chip (which I don't see as very likely)
Oh, good point, didn't think of that.
double sided tape on the back of your choice of cases.
i have already ordered a simple silicone case with screen covers for the day to day until i find what im looking for.
also i found this last night after making this post

say delivery time is a month or so LOL but its only a few $ and looks like it has silicone edges front and back. i figure this will work great with a dark blue brushed aluminum back cover that seems to get so much love/hate on this forum.
There are a ton of bumpers. That's not the hard part. What you wont find is a silicone backplate, for the reasons listed above.

You actually don't have to have the NFC chip on the battery door. There's a ton of replacement back doors on eBay for the Note II that explicitly state no NFC in their description so it's not a requirement per say as long as the person buying it knows and is fine with not having NFC.
Personally, I went and bought one of those battery door replacements with built in flip cover for the front on eBay and made sure to buy one that did have the NFC chip. I doubt I'll ever use it but just in case.
When I looked though there was a ton that said no NFC.
yea, i really dont care about nfc... why not have a plastic battery cover with a rubbery/silicone back coating? does not have to be thick like a case, just enough to keep everything from sliding around... sounds simple enough.
If you don't mind modifying your backplate and really just want to ensure that it does not slide around as much, you might try applying a few thin layers of this - http://www.homedepot.com/buy/perfor...ubber-coating-spray-11203-6.html#.UKvGrod9JjY

The "CHIP" isn't in the battery door, the antenna plate is which is a lot easier to duplicate than the electronics.

It's also stuck on there. With enough patience and motivation it could be removed and attached to a new backplate. Might ruin the original, but that's replaceable.

True, but my point still stands, meaning most manufacturers won't want to tackle that problem. And yes, if you don't care about NFC then this doesn't really matter.

Aluminum battery cover and Bumper

Bought a back over and a aluminum bumper
can you post or pM me the link for this?
I'd be worried about a metal back prematurely wearing out the plastic notches it hooks to--as often as I do battery pulls when flashing, I'd want the latch tabs made of a softer material than the phone case itself, so that the way-more-expensive part doesn't wear out first.

I'd be more worried about the aluminum blocking reception to the antenna nubs directly beneath the currently-plastic cover; I also strongly suspect this isn't actually aluminum, but something made to resemble aluminum in appearance and tactility.
I'm actually more interested in a soft-touch plastic akin to the Droid DNA; if the HTC One had that (along with a removable battery and microSD slot), I'd be sticking with that phone.
+1, a slick shiny backplate looks nice but it's a real drop hazard. A rubberized one like on my old HTC Thunderbolt or Eris would be great for days I carry the phone case-less.
I got one it decreases the signal to unusable levels. Looks badass though.

This was my exact setup. I purchased the silver aluminum back with white border and a black aluminum bumper. It looked sweet. I didn't notice any signal issues. The reason I don't use this setup anymore is, the bumper was way too slippery. There was no grip at all and I was afraid the phone would slide out of my hand.
can you post or PM me the link of the product?

You shouldn't be pulling the battery when flashing, need to reboot? Press and hold power button for ~10 seconds.
