SGS Tools ~ secret codes working - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Gentlemen,
I'm not the developer of SGS Tools, just an ex-captivate owner who used it extensively.
Those of you familiar with this great app will be happy to know the "secret codes" that worked on the Captivate, also work on our new S2s.
I just set my phone to lock on to the 850 band. I haven't tested all the codes, but everyone I tried worked.
SGS tools is in the market.
Those of you who haven't heard of or used SGS tools, be warned:
Many of the utilities/apps/actions available are ONLY for the Galaxy S/Captivate

Yep, GPS Test Mode is the one that causes force close. Everything else works as should though.

[Q] Netflix

So Netflix came out for some devices today. I grabbed a version of it and installed it and it seems it's authenticating the device type when a streaming request is sent. Who wants to figure out how to spoof this?
many have tried, all have failed.........so far.
Deja vu... again

I think I got it
I'll post steps soon. I've got it on Froyo on the Epic which is a little bit different than some of the other solutions floating out there.
Wont a change to the build.prop work to spoof the phone type

In theory it should work but we have yet to find the right combination of spoofs in the build.prop

I have been messing with build.prop but have yet to find a good config. Also some changes break other apps...may not be worth it.

Netflix works perfectly for me with this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082783
It doesnt support the Epic but with this ROM it thinks the phone is a Nexus S. I've had great success with this ROM. Everything works except for the FM radio but I use TuneIn so it doesnt matter. You still need a subscription to Netflix. Hoping ya'll can afford $8 a month LOL
Yup, Netflix works great on the Swiss Cheese rom (Gingerbread 2.3)

What do you mean by it works? Like the streaming video works? Or just the browser and such? Because that was working since the LG version leaked

(Q) Alternative to Widgetsoid?

It seems this Widgetsoid has been abandoned. The battery info switch doesn't display the correct battery info from the setting.
I contacted the author and got no answer.
So what do you use for toggle settings widget?
Widgetsoid was very good and powerful btw.

It works yes, but if I click it, I got the phone info from the settings.
And not the battery details information.
Extended Controls is not compatible with ICS yet, I read on it's market entry. They are working on it though.

Exactly, especially because I paid for it. Well, for such an inexpensive price, I won't complain much. But this kind of developer attitude make me sad.

FWIW, if you visit the dev's Facebook and Twitter pages, he mentioned this week that updates are on hold because his computer crashed and took his source code with it. He's trying to find a backup, but in the meantime it might be worth a try to contact him via either of those for help with the battery info issue.
Ok, hope he will update soon ...
Great to know it wasn't abandoned!

I use Notification Toggle. It also looks nice with the ICS blue. I paid for extended controls but havent used it in so long ever since Gingerbread.....too many bugs. Quicker is another good app ive used but i like a set of toggles that mimics touchwiz and/or cyanogenmod and this app does that nicely.

I purchased extended controls too. Its a good app.
I've tried several, 'extended control', 'widgetsoid' and switchpro:
- ec and widgetsoid can use notification bar
- none of them can activate the flash
- none of them can activate the gps, only redirect to the settings page, widgetsoid developer states in the facebook page that is an ICS security limitation but official widget is able to activate/desactivate the gps!
- only ec can activate/desactivate wifi tethering
- battery status is ok
- all of them are resizable with BRD Launcher at 241 DPI but not of all them can be installed directly from the market
Until GPS problem is fixed i'm keeping the official widgets

Someone needs to tell him that data doesn't exist unless it is in two places.
It surprises me that people who work on computers or computer related tech fail to back their stuff up.

Probably can just spoof your phone as a galaxy s3 via the build.prop and it should still work.

That program is a bust on my device anyway... /uninstall
I tried it and wasnt that excited about it. I was running GB and even flashed up to ICS just to try it. After checking it out I restored back to GB. When I had my 3D I tried vlingo, iris, and Jeannie. Not to impressed by any of them.
Finally just killed it on my phone. Was hoping to skate by on the whole Galaxy II thing but nope. Pretty obvious even if it's released for other Galaxy devices like the SII they will cut it off for use with other devices. Be smart, release it as a paid app, like $1.99 for other non Sammy models. Recoup those losses somehow

I agree! Put it on the market plus $1.99 hell I'll pay for it. but couldn't you just edit build.prop spoof sgs3 ?? I think that won't work! Anyone has tried spoofing it and it worked?

Wouldn't changing build.prop work ?

You would need to change a number of items. Plus how much of it is working. It does transmit what carrier you are on as well as carrier country. SIII not available on all providers atm, so I wonder if they blocked out by carrier and carrier country as well.
I found this fix that has a modified apk to make it appear to be coming from a GS III.

uninstalling/installing an app is easier and less time consuming than manually changing your build.prop and restarting. also, changing your build.prop doesn't fix the problem, it patches the problem. the problem is with the app not your phone, so dont fix your phone -- fix the app.

I wouldn't say that because it fixed my problem

Working with the new apk, the one draw back is it seems I get more functionality from Vlingo itself than this app. IE car mode and opening of apps.
When I say play a certain song no go, fc. Using Vlingo it works flawless.
patching the app worked for me. Someone on this board posted a pre-patched svoice-patched.apk which worked very well to fix my "network errors". Works fine now, FCs notwithstanding. Not super impressed by the app, feels like a gussied-up vlingo. Ain't no siri.

i didn't say it wouldn't give you your desired outcome, but it didn't fix the problem because the problem isn't the phone -- the problem is the app. by changing your build.prop, you may have introduced other problems that you haven't triggered yet or aren't aware of (such as apps on the market that wont install on gs3 devices).

MarketAccess and SGS3

I have an AT&T SGS3 and tried emulating the T-Mobile market using the MarketAccess app v1.0.6, but it appears not to work on the S3. I have given it Superuser authority, but the emulation does not stick. If I reboot the phone the app returns to the numeric value of the default market. Btw, this app still works fine on my old Captivate.
If there a different app or hack that I should get to replicate the MarketAccess app function on the S3?.

I doubt that this older code would work on the SGS3. My understanding is that MarketAccess is based on Market Enabler code. As per project web page "MarketAccess is a complete rewrite of the MarketEnabler" If I recall correctly, MarketAccess was developed to support Android 2.0+ devices.

[REQ] HTC_IME keyboard for jellybean

Been looking amd trying every version and it all does not work woth jellybean. Is there a keyboard similar to this also?
I once was a user of HTC IME, a long time user actually. I switched to SwiftKey, and use the light theme, which looks similar to HTC IME stock. I haven't looked back since due to SwiftKey having far superior prediction / auto correct. Just my two cents, if this doesn't help, good luck on the hunt.
