Breffo SpiderPodium - Galaxy S II Accessories

My Breffo SpiderPodium arrived today. For those who don't know, it's a flexible 8-legged (hence the name) phone holder which I intended for use in the car. You can pick them up on Amazon or eBay for about £8 for the white or £12 for the black.
I wanted one for use in the car, and since I have a silicone skin for my SGS2 I knew a "proper" fitted mount wouldn't work.
I have to say, I'm quite impressed. It was very easy to bend the legs in such a way that they'd catch on the vent fins, and when the phone's in it's held pretty securely - there's no noticeable wobble or rattle, and I never feel worried that it will come loose. Most importantly it's nice and easy to get the phone in and out - I was worried that I'd have to wrap and unwrap the legs each and every time. Luckily with the leg configuration I've made it's easy enough to pop it in and out without disturbing them.
I think I'm going to pick up another one for use in the office and out and about . . . this one is definitely staying in the car!

Looks nice but strange! Would out of place in most cars though!

Yeah, it's unusual, but I think it has a certain charm

Which seller did you use for the Black? Can only see whites on Amazon or eBay.

I got mine from magic-toast-direct, but he seems to be out of stock
You can buy from Breffo themselves at http://www.breffo.com/buy.html (£17.74 including shipping)
Alternatively there's this seller or this seller selling black ones on eBay for £15.95 (search for spider podium with a space rather than all one word).
Can also find clickshop at £13.95, never used them before but a reasonable price . . . .

Ended up ordering the one from Amazon but for delivery to home, a mate did it at the same time but had it sent to work. Turned out it was the black version for him.
Bargain for £8.95

I've got this black one from Amazon for £8.95 and I am amazed with it - such a great idea! Its so easy to mold to any shape for any use you desire, its amazingly grippy and looks very cool - like some organic Giger-esque addition to your phone

For a black one, that's a steal!
A mate suggested getting a white one and seeing how well it would take paint or markers . . .

Wanted one too badly and ordered a white one, I know black will look better, but white will do fine! Might provide a nice contrast ;D
I stupidly bought it off eBay in the heat of the moment, ended up paying £13 D:
It looks like it'll be useful though

Here's mine (no photo with phone in as I was using the phone as the camera)
Spiderpodium by artesea, on Flickr

can any users tell me whether this is suitable for use as a tripod too?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be - it's rigid enough to not bend out of shape when the phone's held in it.

It is! Its actually one of the reasons I've bought one - easy to hook up on almost anything by adjusting the phone/surface arm distribution & shape

Is surfase of this holder soft like rubber or something? Will it scratch unprotected phone? Thanks for answers!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

Its fairly thick grippy rubber shell. I don't think it could scratch the phone, because its not hard and it lacks any kind of sharp edges.

It's soft-touch rubber, I can't see how it would scratch anything. Feels very similar to the back of the Desire if you ever held one.

Is it fixed well enough to the ventilation not to fall when I drive on a bumpy road ? That's my main question about this kind of product :/

Not really fixed well to the ventilation, more wedged through the gaps and gripped on to the dash. Had no problems driving from Lincoln to London and if you've seen the road around here we've not had any repairs since the bad winter.

Mine is well solid - two of the top legs have got their "feet" (about 1cm) bent back almost 180 degrees to form two hooks - I pushed them through the vents past the vent edges, then pulled them back so they're hooked on. It'd be pretty firm with that, but then two of the bottom legs serve to push it up slightly.
If you're driving a jeep properly offroad then you *might* have a problem, but just for potholes and bumpy roads I'd be amazed if it came loose.

Found this thread last week while figuring out what sort of a stand to get. I basically wanted something versatile that I could use mainly to take HDR pictures [requires either a VERY steady hand, or a stand of some description]. I got mine last week and took a bunch of photos over the weekend.
Aside from the awkwardness of bending it into shape at the beginning, it works well enough for my amateur-ish purposes. Recommended if you can pick it up cheaply and just want something to mess around with.

Received this case this morning. It's light, protects brilliantly, looks good, is functional in that you can access all buttons answer calls etc while it's cased, and has 2 slots for SD cards. You can even charge/connect GPS cable while cased. All in all pretty pleased and took just 4 days from order to delivery.

hi i had this case for a month now only1 bad thing against it the glass on case scratches easy but iam happy with it
Cant see on the picture, does it have a belt clip?
MDAUser
Yes it does have a detachable belt clip. If you click on the link there are 10 good pictures truly representative of what you get !
How much you paid for the shipping ???
as it comes from the USA...
P&P was $6. Not bad in my view.
I'm interested in this case too, but I have some questions:
1. Does it have a hole for the phone micro? (in the screenshots is not clear)
2. Is reception affected by that kind of metal?
3. Is the close mechanism secure enough? Cannot the PDA slide down to the floor too easily?
4. Can I use the headphones even while cased? (in the screenshots is not clear)
Thanks,
Mr B

Mr B
1. Yes
2. Not that I've noticed, so no
3. Close clips are secure, and it can't slide out open or closed. I can actually hold the case upside down while open with the PDA in it and the side clips hold it in place - not recomended !!!!
4. Haven't actually tried this but almost certainly. The socket is accessible and I think the elbow on the plug would clear the case
(Just been out to the car to get the h/phones and there's no problem.)
I've had my case for some time now - I use and recomend a screen protector on it.
The only minor complaint is that it has a few minor paint scratches - but overall very much worth having.
is it just me or does it look a bit like some sort of a halo helmet ?

A WHAT ??
halo == some game for xbox or something
a halo helmet is the helmet the hero (i'll asume)
is wearing

Halo hemet it is then - but definitely not red !!!!
hello brothers...
maybe just like this...
i hate to know that inno didn't make a magnE for my himalaya...
cheers!

thanks for the pics: www.filairsoft.com
The girl on the left has definitely joined two cases together to make her helmet - no question. Even the colour's right !
Thanks a lot, Rick GM. Ordering one right now!

Ok i have had this case shortly after they were first available.
I have had the following issues.
The paint is chipping off
Second day I had the case I accidentally dropped it and I broke off one of the plastic clips that hold the case closed. (my SX66 flew out but still worked)
The plastic screen on the unit is heavily scratched (and I am careful)
I stopped using this on my belt as I chipped and scratch it this way.
Reception degraded a little bit but not to bad
I think the clips that hold this thing together could be revised (sent and Email to Innopocket)
the paint chipping off is a bit of a pain (now i have silver marks everywhere)
and they should fix that cheap screen they have on the front.
Would I say buy it. No not yet...wait till they fix the problems (if they fix the problems)
I am now looking at the aluminum case as it looks sturdier (and no plastic clips holding the sides)
My personal choices for best case(s)... PDA2K/SX66/XV6600
I have a few case suggestions I'd like to share. I have found a couple of cases that are exceptional and have been using both since I got my Blue Angel.
This is the second case I've owned from Bellagio Designs and they are of the highest quality I've ever seen. They are somewhat unknown and it's a bit difficult to find a vendor selling below retail price... Those factors notwithstanding, this is an excellent case with steel reinforcement, full access to the keyboard when open and will fit into the sync cradle (with a standard-size battery). When I couldn't find a re-seller with a significant discount, I purchased the case directly from Bellagio.
Check it out here:
http://bellagiodesigns.com/templates/images/pdacases/audiovox/xv6600/flip/animation.swf
My other favorite case is the Otterbox 2600. It is a crush-proof, waterproof case (it even floats) with access to the touch-screen and the keys on the face of the device while in the case (through a plastic screen saver). The case is considered universal and fits a wide variety of PDA's, so test the waterproof quality on a junker if you're unsure... I found the lowest price (believe it or not) for this case at HP's Small/Medium Business site. The price was $45 after shipping, less than the suggested retail ($49.99) and less than I found on eBay.
You can check it out here:
http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product.asp?sku=2520052
These may not be the right cases for your particular needs... I needed a high-quality case to carry on my belt that wouldn't spill my PDA when I least expected and I needed a protective case for the elements I'm occasionally forced to work in. I think that these two cases are exceptional values to protect the money and time I've invested in my PDA.
Cheers to all...
Mick
Uhmmm... the case is like the BA itself
I finally got the case like 45 days ago, and i must say it works as the Blue angel it self...
It arrived and 2 seconds after putting the BA on it the plastic screen was scratched.
The paint chipped off almost on contact to air...
a week ago the belt clip broke
in general it protects the BA and it has withstand several falls and stuff how ever after just a few days of normal wearing it started to look horrible all chipped and silver marks everywhere...
Is like the BA a helluva Idea wich is not fully functional yet... but it works sometimes

My personal car dock setup(oh god, another one!?)-video

First off let me state that, yes, sorry, another car dock thread, but i feel that i have a really damn good setup that i haven't seen anyone post pictures or videos of yet(sorry if i missed one :x). Secondly, sorry for the long length, I drone on sometimes, but at least it isn't too ridiculously long.
But, to business, i bought the M2 car mount, and a cheapo case off of ebay, and must i say, i am QUITE impressed with my setup, turned out WAY better than my expectations. Works perfect, spent just over ten dollars on both items(case case with a really good screen protector as well!), overall win! It spins like a charm, holds up great, everything is amazing with it. The little adhesive circle is literally just a tiny bit bigger than a penny, slightly rounder and just as thick, barely noticable when you hold it in case you wish to use the case day to day. Adhesive strips work good both on this and in the car, extremely strong! Case covers camera lens which is a HUGE plus, great buy links will be below the pictures! Lo and behold, the video:

Nice!
I picked up a few of those m2 mounts as well, they're really nice.
I've got mine mounted a little lower, sorta inbetween radio and climate controls, but I'm tempted to move it to the top for the in car video capability.
And nice find on that case! Looks like the closest one to a case-mate barely there yet. I've been waiting for one of those, but they've been out of stock forever.
The previous ebay ones had the big oval hole cutout for the flash camera and speaker all in one opening which I didnt like. May just have to jump on these ones.
Nice find, and lookin good.

Next long trip i take, i'm probably going to record the entire trip and turn it in to a time lapse, would probably do one of my hopeful future trip from chicago to pheonix as well, that would be crazy! Also, I've been using the case for a bit now, and i must say, i love it, i would recommend it to you 100% man.
Ordered 2 black and 2 white cases. What will I do with 4 cases you ask. I have no clue. lol
I figure I can have the dot from the m2 mount on a black and white, and then have two naked cases as well. shoot for 3.99 shipped from hong kong.. why not!
I bit the bullet and bought the mount. Who knows when Sprint will be selling a specific EVO CarDock..
Going on cross country trip next month and need it.
I have the same mount but a clear case. The clear case does not need to be sanded.
I put the lock tab to the left, so that way I never have to worry about the lock tab. It has never fallen off. This makes it a lot easier to rotate the phone.
I also tightened down the mount so that it doesn't pivot at all, makes it much much easier getting it on and off of the mount.
Question, how solid is the mount? Does it handle the road vibrations well? My biggest complaint from most mounts is they don't absorb the vibrations thus watching a movie (for example) would be extremely difficult.
Thanks in advance!
I have no problem putting mine in anymore, it was simply because that was literally the like...second time i had tried it. But yeah, i ended up tightening it up really good, never moves an inch anymore(jiggles a LITTLE when I hit BIG potholes, otherwise good). I would say if you have really crappy shocks in your car, it might jiggle a bit, but my car has pretty crappy shocks and it isn't really bad enough to the point that it annoys me at all.if you don't want any jiggling, you have to lock that thing down hard.
just so you guys know...
i bought a cheap case (1 penny), a cheap car charger ( 3 pennies) and an inexpensive mount (9 dollars), with 5 dollars shipping for all three items (total, not separate), from different retailers, on amazon day before yesterday.
grand total? less than 16 bucks for all three.
should be here in a few days. will let you guys know how it fairs
Got to love how cheap this crap is, think i got mine for a total of(including the extra batters/wall charger) 24 bucks, pretty damn good deals considering all of the stuff i got was pretty good quality!
Thanks "Tickle My Elmo"
Just installed the car Mount and it works perfectly. I have a NAVI in my Honda Ridgeline so my main purpose is to use it to listen to SLACKER when I go cross country next month.
Thanks again..
I just jumped on this... I plan on making some type of "snap in" with a Seido case.
I went ahead and bought the M2 and I also purchased the case from Deal Extreme http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.40745 ... If the suction mount doesn't work well (Honda Element), might add double sided tape and mount to my dash tray where the aux input is... If I'm not satisfied going to use the snap on from suction mount and mount the disc from the M2 to it.
So I bought the case linked here and recieved a completely different case 1 month later. I wanted this case because it looks exactly like the case-mate barely there. What I got was a two piece case with a piece that covers the back and a front piece that sandwiches the phone....not very happy at all.

I'm going to write up a quick first impressions review for it and post it up here in a bit.
Review is here.
nice job. on the review you might want to compare the prices. was the price of the HC worth it?
I paid $52 with shipping, so it was about $5 more than I got the Defender.
I might end up getting this I'm on my second defender case the first interior shell cracked in one corner and the gel is not standing up to the heat in South Florida, left it in the car a few times and the gel fits oddly now. The Ballistics don't have the gel form fitting exterior so I doubt I'll have a problem with it.
I searched on Google Shopping and eBay and I found this case for $33.50 with regular expedited shipping. It actually arrived at my house in NJ from Texas a day earlier than it was expected.
At first, I was surprised at how much bigger it was than I thought it was going to be, but then I tried it out for a few days and I got use to it. If you want "maximum" protection, I would recommend buying this case. I use the whole setup with both the rubberized and the hard case. I haven't dropped it that many times and when I have it was usually on carpeted floors and occasionally from small heights so I really haven't tested out its durability and whatnot, but it doesn't look like it's going to break or anything. The plugs for the headphone jack as well as for the charging/HDMI ports are an awesome feature for keeping dust and water drops away from the actual phone. The only part I can find that is exposed is that fingerprint/lock button. I understand why, although I don't use the fingerprint feature, so it's not too bad.
It's pretty light and the supplied swivel clip is greatly appreciated, too. It is bulky enough to make it harder to get in and out of pockets so the clip works very nicely, especially since you put the screen facing in to provide as much protection as possible. I have tested how it fits and everything and it stays in the clip even when moving around, jumping, jogging, and shaking so I would say it works pretty well. There's a screen protector on the front part of the hard case, but it's almost as sensitive as the actual phone's screen so you don't have to press much harder than normal. The one other thing I didn't really like was that the HC's bottom was too close to the phone's touch buttons along the bottom, making it slightly harder to press them sometimes. If there was slightly more space between the two as well as a little less bulk, this would be the perfect case for protection and functionality.
Still, a great buy, I must say so myself. I definitely recommend it.
So after a week of having this on my phone the only thing that I could see someone not liking is the volume keys are harder to press. You really got to squeeze on them to get a press to register, but other than that, I really like this case. I might take the phone out and run a file on the bottom edge of the top of the finger print sensor hole. It sticks out a tad, and it kinda sharp. It's only a problem for me when the phone is in my dash mount and not in any car mode. When I swipe my finger "backwards" from the normal top of the phone to the bottom, the edge catches my finger and causes misreads. I think rounding it off a bit will help with that.
I have this case, and i must say - even though its bulky, it feels great in my hands. Its not as annoying as the otterbox defender is/was. it feels much more solid and well built. Also - its certified military grade protection. I got the black/black case in the mail about a week and a half ago - havent taken it off since i put it on! The holster is much better than the Otterbox defender also!
i originally had the shell gel before buying the hardcore. all i can say is this case is awesome!
although i kinda wished the plastic inner case had the rubber port covers as well though, since the whole rubber case makes the thing too chunky for my liking.
one other thing i didnt like is the included screen protector. first, i didnt realise it was attached to the case, lol. but my main issue with it is that it kinda messes with the display a bit. not too sure how to describe it, but it has the random colour pixels that you'd normally see if you had water on your screen. im sure after a week of wearing it in, this should go away.
the thing that annoyed me the most was that for like 3 months, ballistic had a black and red one listed on their website. now all of a sudden, it doesnt exist.

Very nice Tridea case

I've searched high and low for a case that suited me and my Note and eventually found a very nice case from Tridea on eBay. I received a couple of days ago and think that it looks and performs great. You can find it by searching on Tridea.Essentially it's a hard bumper in a nice sort of faux suede flip case. I went for the gray version.
It's a bit pricey at £25 and it took a couple of weeks to arrive from South Korea but I've yet to see a case that looks anywhere near as good for the money.
I just bought one too! It should arrive within a week, I got the same color as you did. I'm glad you like it, because it makes me more excited to get mine
I wanted this case more than most others but my number one issue with them all is that very few have a cut out for the ear piece!! not even a notch, i want my face oils off the screen and not have to hold the flap back on a call, simple design i would think, sigh.
I love this case, I bought the grey one as well. I do wish it had a hole for the speaker though.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Hmm, the front flap does fold round the back when using it to make calls and even gives a bit more of a better grip on the phone so I'm not that bothered about it not having a notch for the earpiece.
lamou1nr: As far as a hole for the speaker goes, it's got one but I guess you meant the same as Mrglass86.
I like the case because 1) it looks good 2) it's very light 3) it offers good bumper protection with the addition of a cover for the front that also keeps the screen clean. 4) it feels really nice and solid without adding a load of bulk to the phone.
I don't see the fascination with the aluminium bumpers. They don't look as though they'd offer any protection in a drop.
I like some of the Zenus cases (it was either the Tridea or the Zenus Capsule case) but they're expensive and the diary types just seem like a bit of a gimmick - would you really keep your cash and cards in the same case as your Note? Not me!
Until otterbox or a similar maker comes up with a really tough aluminium case I'm happy to stick with the Tridea.
If you fold it too often it will eventually get loose or have lines along the edge. Another issue with all such book-like case is that we cannot use our thumb to operate the phone anymore.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
Just ordered it. I hope it'll arrive sooner than expected.
Anybody bought this kind of Tridea case? Available on eBay for $22.

Wow I dont normally like flip cases but this one looks very nice. Not sure if i'll fork out for one as i've already got cases for it but can you guys post pictures when you get it, i'll get a better idea than from the ebay pics
Just thought I'd follow up on my OP. I've been using this case for almost a couple of months. The phone gets a lot of use by me and is constantly being taken in/out of my pockets. I'm happy to say that the case is holding up well. I think that the 'spine' of the cover would be the first part to go since it's the part that gets the most stress.
After two months the fabric along the spine has been smoothed but doesn't look bad, kind of what you'd expect really, it 'weathered'. There is some very thin rubber edging that runs along the edge of the whole case and this has initially split on the spine hinge area but it has only come off in one tiny section. It's hardly noticeable.
The main thing is that it's protected my Note very well. I don't expect a huge lifespan from it (at least the cover) but the bumper around the note will last. I may utilise a bit of gaffer tape to strengthen the spine and you could do this without spoiling the aesthetic if you do it properly. I may also use some rubber spray that I bought from Amazon which is really useful stuff (it coats whatever you spray in a matt rubber coating). One last thing to mention is that some people were bothered that you couldn't get to the volume controls while the case was shut, well you can press the rocker through the spine without any problem so you can use the volume control even with the Note in your pocket. I'll update this if I notice anything further degradation but all-in-all I like this cover a lot still.
My case has also held up reasonably well. It provides great protection. I too had the rubber on the edge ware off but only on the "hinge" of the cover. The only other part that is showing signs of age is the metallic plastic piece that is on the back, it has a few scuffs and a chip. For a flip case this is one of the best.

Head Case Hard Back Case's for Note 10.1

Anyone hear of Head Case Hard Back Case's??? They are in the UK and make cases for many devices including the Galaxy Note 10.1
They are selling on Ebay with free shipping, prices are from $7.95 to $10.95 us., for that price I may take a risk on one or two,
Here are a few examples of the hard back cases, they have 100's to choose from.

Did you end up buying one? Just saw them couple of days ago, I found some designs that I liked but not sure about the quality and how it looks in real life.

I still have not, it just not a priority as I'm happy with the cases that I have now. But I am very curious of the quality myself.
.
I have bought a couple for my gf's note1 and my razr phone. The case is so so, and the sides of the case are white despite the design of the back being colored.
I Bunch of cool designs wish they have a front protector built in to protect the screen when not in use

I did order one, it took about 10 days for delivery to USA from the UK.
I got the purple one shown above, it is very thin with the bottom and top edge completely open.
The sides wrap around the front to attach the case. The design coating on the back feels tacky and less likely to slip from your hand.
The inside of the hard back is white and the right and left sides have a strip that is about 3/16 that is also white.
Did not expect much for the price, and I probably got my moneys worth.

Would you say this is decent enough protection for while it's in use, and should still be put in a sleeve or other case when tossed in a bag?
Do you happen to also have the keyboard dock? If not, does it appear to add too much thickness to be able to dock while still protected? That's my only complaint about my folio case, is having to remove it from the holder whenever I want to use the keyboard dock. I figure it's only a matter of time before the case holder snaps or something from the constant in/out

There is no screen cover or protection. You would have to use a sleeve to travel with it. I do not have a keyboard dock but it may work.
I use it when at home while playing racing games, my 360 case is just to bulky and awkward when playing these types of games. I don't have to worry about setting in down for a few minutes on a hard surface if I need to take a call or something like that. I also have a jelly case that just covers the back but this one is much thinner. It is about 3/64 of an inch thick.
