You think so?
Well, seems like I've been way too much in the off topic section...
Mods are free to delete this, but until then, people are free to vote

For me Sense

perhaps it would've made sense to include a poll (see what I did there..?) but for what it's worth, I prefer AOSP

I agree with this, Sense rules

AOSP for me. I prefer the speed.

Sense for now; when android 2.4 come out, probably AOSP

Haven't been using custom roms for long but so far I'd definately vote for Sense.

Definitely AOSP, far more faster and cleaner UI.

AOSP fo' sho'!
Sense lasted about a week for me until it lost it's sheen. It's quite slow and bloated compared to other ROMs I've tried.

Sense is king of the hill here. Too much awesomeness under the hood to let it slide. It ain't all in the widgets and bling u know.

AOSP for me just bcoz of speed and clean interface....
For those voting sense and never tried AOSP their vote doesnt matter.
Question would be how many of them came back to sense after AOSP? That will be interesting. If you never tried both world its useless voting.

Hm yes where are the poll buttons I think there's a few threads like this gone by over the months - but Sense for me too

I have never got pissed and twitching to install aosp if I was using Sense due to the lack of some feature I needed at that moment, but did vice versa. So the real question is how you live with that lack of feature? Similar speed when using alternative launchers and lower battery efficiency seem like a tough tradeoff here.

Sorry If I might have sound like im against sense. Im not against it. Its about personal choice.
My only point was if you only tested sense you can not say sense is best.
For me I found AOSP better in terms of battery and I cant find any lack of feature compare to sense.. Can you mention any particular.
(I have used leedroid and insertcoin in sense and oxygen gingervillian and miui-xj in AOSP)

I prefer a clean AOSP!
BUT its more complicated to keep up to date and its not homogeneous!
So i stick to sense at the moment!

This is like the 3rd thread on the same topic. Stop creating topics that already exist. Gingerbread will come out in Q2 at some point so you have to wait for the official release.

To be honest, I prefer having no sense interface... bulky and ugly... CM7 is far better.

So stay out this thread
I'm waiting on a new (official) Sense update - prefer it to fugly stock Android and don't wanna be running an HD ROM as they've all gone a bit mad since the first builds
I dont need sense but,
I need good working APN-VPN-Tethering
MMS-Camera vs. vs.
Gingerbread roms are good but everytime i can find some mistake or something else...
So I want gingerbread update.

In which way it is better? I tried it and realize that I need to buy LauncherPro Plus to have usable widgets and even after that it has FAR LESS features inside than Sense. So if by "better" you mean basic system that without dozens of additional apps can't do almost anything more then any other non-smartphone, then yes, I agree.
I'd rather have a Sense upgrade than an Android upgrade.

I tried several launcher before install a custom roms, Go Launcher, Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher... no one it's like Sense. Htc Sense it's far better than other launcher, and it has several useful widget and apps "I can't live" without.

Every sense rom has a default launcher built-in too. I use sense rom, but I use Launcher Pro since sense doesn't allow you to change icons, and I prefer something minimalistic, which sense widgets are not
I have tried many aosp roms, and too much great features are missing 'under the hood' for it to be usable imo. Plus classic aosp bugs you don't get with sense rom.
Personally, I want it to be out not because sense or newer version of Android, but because we won't be stuck with the 2.6.32 kernels anymore when it does.

ROMS??

I have done a search and have not found the answer I'm looking for what is the difference between roms they have aosp, sense, miui all kinds of different roms what makes them different.... Any links that tell me would be good or any info on them thanks
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Not really...
Sense - Some sense version of HTC sense. Has the stock UI, though its advanced in the more current version; 3.5 is the latest/ Each version offers improvements/features over the previous
AOSP- Android Open Source Project roms are light and fast, and don't have the heavy laggy sense UI on them. They over heavy customization and generally have bettery battery life and performance over sense. Though you lose the Sense integration of some things and apps, over using sense.
MIUI- AOSP rom, but its its own source, not built upon CM. has an Iphone aesthetic looks, but its android. No 4G on the rom, and it offers its own uniqueness you won't get in other roms; such as its lock screen customization.

they all have different advantages and disadvantages AOSP= Android Open Source Project basic google rom offers the opportunity to customize more to your liking offers different UI's like GO launcher and ADW
Sense is an interface laid over android more of an eye candy then anything else in my opinion.
MIUI Chinese iphone clone
The real answer to this question Now that you are rooted you are free to try out anything you want and make your own decision.

I tried all of the roms they got on XDA and the best is to stay with the sense. Personally that is the main reason I chose HTC android over other android devices.
Im running Radiance RC4 right now, and its been running smooth. it has a sense 3.5

Ics Sense 4 fanatics club.... c'mon guys

Hello all, lets discuss your feelings, emotions, confusions:what:, predictions, fears, jubilation etc etc about the upcoming release of ics sense 4 for desire HERE, in THIS thread, and leave the dev threads for logcats, tweak scripts and bug fixes..... desire has a few devs left, try to keep them here.....

Great idea ....
I never really got into Sense, as I quickly rooted my phone and went with a CM type of ROM - and now using BCM9 3.3.1
However, my wife like Sense on her Desire ... so I am keen to see v4, as this seems to have been stripped back a bit from the bloated GB version.
I originally chipped in towards Shaky's Desire so that he can get on with Dev'ing for it.
Hopefully it comes soon.

Deal. If this means this is the last of useless Sense 4/ics thread, fine by me.
But you violate the deal, I guess we normal who don't want our phones be partially stable have the right to pull the big guns out? Or keep them that way.

Your choice, everyones got the right of having opinion... I personally love miui and sense roms although they have always been a little laggy for me later on [gb ics both].... cm7, oxygen etc have been super fast, but they lack the special elegance, beauty, whatever you call it....sense n miui, they LOOK good.... sense has the elegance, miui too.....cm7 has millions feature tweaks themes, but always keeps missing something.. oxygen is too barebones, and I hate the stock apps on it, almost always replaced with apps from store....

Anyone know - informed guess or not - weather, with the inclusion of Sense framework this will mean 720p video recording will be possible/ported with this rom? If so, perfect!
what???
@bingley
no one KNOWS that....
you get what you get.... i doubt whether devs will put that much effort into stuff like 720p recording, or 2way call-rec**8 watever that is, etc etc....... Even if they make a fully functional port will be more then enough for most of us..... i doubt usb tether will be not there and vid cam might give trouble just like ics stock.. otherwise the same functions wud be possible....
I don't know about the general opinion, but for me 2 way call record is a dealbreaker.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I provided the reason for me not even considering ics, not to mention tons of bugs and lag.
There recently were some Chinese Desires released with specs similar to our desire what proved our desire can run ICS Sense 4 romantic smoothly. Sense 4 nice. Would like to try it on my phone.

Once I tried ICS is hard to go back... unless I'm putting stability above everything else, which I am.
But I'm patiently waiting till ICS sees stability and smoothness, then I might reconsider it
And I believe it can be such a smooth experience and fast, not much diference from GB roms, after all, desire has a pretty good specs.
I think I heard people say Sense 4 is less mem hungry than sense 3.6 anyway

Any sense 3.6 or 4.0 roms for this device?

Just curious...

Nope
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
nope, and i doubt there will ever be a port.
The best you will get is to use AOKP and use the AOKP cm9 sense theme and set the recent programs to be sense style and use sense style widgets. If you are really into sense that much. I actually like the way sense looks but I hear it is a real battery sucker. I have never owned a HTC device so I dont know.
Stock, unrooted sense has classically drained battery, but I can say from experience that there are tons of great ROMs (for other phones) that have sense and get terrific battery life. Sense 4.0 looks pretty great, and I think it would be cool to see any ported over.
I had the same question as the OP, but didn't post because I knew several people who weren't developers would post things like, "probably not," or "if you love sense go buy an HTC phone." Just a question, guys.

[Q] What ROM?

I got my phone rooted.. Now what ROM would you recommend? I've moved over from HTC Sense.. so I would like something that has some sense alternatives like favorite contacts widget, bookmarks, and weather. So what would you recommend for me?
FreeGS3...all kinds of mods, a good theme, update me so you can customize your way...you will be very happy..link is in my sig below
I'm loving FreeGS3, but really try them all. Ask yourself a question - Do you want to stay with touchwiz or go with a aosp Rom.
Currently there is only a handful of each. Read the OP before you flash anything. And it wouldn't hurt to backtrack a few pages from the last one and get caught up on what bugs people are talking about.

I don't know either ROM. They say developers are flocking to S3 but there is so few ROM's compared to HTC why is that? Like I said I een a fan of HTC Sense and I prefer whatever has the closest feel to it.. the favorites widgets, animated weather, Messenger Widgets I just can't seem to find any variation of for Android. The UI is just so clean of a feel to it what would come closest of the two?

I've always liked AOSP roms(CM9/10, AOKP) but dang man Sammy got it down with the GS3's TW so i find myself running FreeGS3 since its still TW with extras(mods and themes baby!) but yeah like everyone else is saying try them out. My other rom i keep up with though are the Cm10 Nightlies.
FreeGS3 user here. Best Rom I've flashed so far and the developer (clark44) is on top of things and talks to his userbase regularly via irc and responds relatively quickly in thread.
I came from the evo4g so I know the feel.
I installed a sense clock lookalike and when I have some free time plan to at least see if I can install a similar contacts/dialer app if I can't get the real deal. Everything else is awesome though, and the TW calendar is definitely better.

I think the reason theres not a lot of roms for the gs3 yet is that the phone is relatively new. Wait... we'll have a ton of them in a month or 2.
Anything with an aosp base for sure. Touchwiz sucks although sense is htc's touchwiz so its about taste i guess. I would flash freegs3 or some other tw based rom and use the dualboot setup as a means of trying some aosp flavor so you can have both while u make up ur mind

I've been using phantom hacker's blazer Rom since I got mine and loved until the last few weeks when the updates pretty much stopped due to ph getting is laptop stolen. Also using joshs jellybomb domination for a theme setup. Now while I like this set up I haven't yet tried others much because I have liked it so far mad if I like a Rom I tend to stick with it. I do prefer the stock lock screen over the jb one though.

Personally I don't mind at all having just a handful of good roms. I'll take quality over quantity any day. Of the devices with tons of roms how many of those are either slight variants of other roms or just not quality? I mean how many roms does there need to be really as long as the themes/mods are plentiful? My 2 cents.

Does dual boot work well with TWRP recovery? Just want to make sure before I try it as I am using the FreeGS3 v0.1.0 on the phone now. It uses Update Me for many mods for that ROM. Been nice and stable ROM for me.
no twrp wont work it gotta be the cwm thats linked on their page
Ok.. btw since CWM it won't work with the CWM Touch Recovery either? The non touch recoveries really suck.
