Nope, it's like the one I liked. You could fold where the base connects to the middle. It's made of metal also, but thanks though.
The phone can either sit horizontal or vertical. The reason why I'm looking for one is because once I get a case. I prefer not to take off the case when I have to plug in.

thanks, not what I'm looking for but I did try that once with my tablet

Finally found what I was looking for.
Amazon.com: Satechi R1 Arm Hinge Holder Stand for iPad, iPad 2, ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Galaxy 10.1, ViewSonic gTablet, BlackBerry Playbook, HTC Flyer: Electronics
It's a little expensive but I can use it to hold my SGS2 or TF when not using the docking station.

Looks too big to hold the SGSII in portrait orientation.
I just got this one, which is a battery charger that doubles as a stand. Cheap and it is an original Samsung accessory too!

The one that I got does not charge the phone because I wanted to be able to use it in the landscape orientation as well. There is a version that charges but you can only stand the phone in portrait orientation for obvious reasons. Pic below from Clove.

Well if you just want a basic stand, there is an Otterbox stand but Im not sure if they sell it retail. I got one at Showstoppers during MWC. Will try and find a link

Desk Dock USA

I just got my S2 from europe (couldn't wait any longer).
Really wanted a desk dock. From the AT&T store I purchased the dock for the Infuse, it seems to work great. Here is the amazon link if anyone else cares to take the plunge.
S2 is slightly thinner, but close enough for government work
Sounds cool - I was thinking of doing the same, but wasn't sure how loose the S2 would be in the Infuse dock. Anyway you can post some of pics?
It's pretty difficult to take a picture when the camera is my phone. You might just buzz into an ATT store and try it. My opinion so far it that it looks like they were made for each other; with perhaps a 1/8" gap on the sides.
interesting. Looks like it is $10 cheaper at AT&T

Now I feel bad. I just bought 3 or them from ATT store for $49 each.

Sweet, thanks OP for that find. Since I get 50% off AT&T accessories this was a no-brainer. Works well and I get a USA travel charger to boot. I did add 3 small strips of the soft side of a velco strip just to make the fit snug. I suspect with a case it may be perfect. I use a slip case. One other note - the speaker port on the dock is on the opposite side of the speaker. I am guessing the speaker on the Infuse is opposite of the GSII.
Well I tried to include two pics but being a noob, I have to post some before I can put in links to the pictures.

Breffo SpiderPodium

I bought a few days ago the Breffo Spider Podium with some doubt about the size, but once in my hands the result is spectacular.
To use as dock, as camera support (to timelapse for example), to see tv or videos, simply espectacular.
two days from amazon.com, and a reasonable price.
Search it!
I broke leg on it...but apart from that is so helpful thing

So now you don't think it's at all too small? Definately no need to go for the Spider Podium Tablet model?

One more question, how well does it fold up (obviously it can fold up) securely and safely for travel in a bag or something... Anyone can upload a pic of it folded up nicely for travel? Do you guys use some kind of pouch for it or just loose?

Nice. Just one thing. It's hard to judge, but from the little info provided there it seems a bit on the small side...
Great find! Just a little worried if its the actual Breffo branded one or just a generic no brand one since its half the price of the amazon ones. Anyone willing to take one for the forum? =D

That's right, the size info does not seem to match what you read in the breffo.com product-info page, for instance:

Portable desktop stands for the Galaxy Note

Thought I'd start a thread where we can discuss portable stands that you can carry with you all the time. This is the one I use and it works just fine with the Note in landscape mode. Link here.

I want to get one like this:

Cool. I just tried with the paper clips I have at my desk, but they are way too small.
What is a "butterfly paperclip" ? Can you post a photo of one in its original form?
I'm thinking of either this one:

or the one with a longer arm:

I have the icarpus which is pretty nice. Works great with the note.
And yea, that ebay stand was a complete dissapointment.

Don't see reasons to spend much. The cheaper stands are quite satisfactory.

Official desktop dock

Sorry if this has been posted before.
I have been looking around at desktop docks for easy access to my phone while its on a desktop under my window next to my sofa, I have been looking at this one
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it or could suggest something better, I will want to charge it via the dock and possibly connect it to my PC/laptop without having to remove the phone.
That'd be awesome to have.
The only thing bad about docks like the one posted in OP, is that your phone case might be too thick, and you wouldnt be able to connect it properly. there are other non specific stands out there that can hold any phone size, and then you just plug in a micro USB cable.
personally, I use this on my desk. works perfect, and it allows me to set my tablet or whatever device im using, on the stand, and then i just plug it in.
http://www.bracketron.com/products/mobile-dock-dash-mount
might not be the prettiest thing, but it works exactly how i need it to. and you cant see the stand at all once a device it sitting on it.

I personally am using this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008KP4ZFI/ref=oh_details_o02_s01_i00
EVERYWHERE.
you have to add a metal plate (i put mine between the battery and the cover.. it is pretty darn thin) and then have one of these at my desk at work, my nightstand and in my car. I just slap the phone on it, and grab it off. secure, doesn't slide around, but super quick to take off. for tha cabling part, yeah.. i have a cable ziptied to it to charge if i need to.
I bought this one http://smartphonepedia.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-desktop-charging-dock.html It SUCKS. Waste of $20.00 IMO
I like the Samsung one but It needs a spare battery charger for me to pay $50.00
This is the one I'd buy right now. http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com...ery-slot.html#
Nice to see some suggestions, of what, and what not to get. I saw some bad reviews of the official one so I decided to see what this wonderful community can say about this and other options, for the charging docks another thing needed would be it needs to know when the phone is charged as well (like the normal adapter) so I don't destroy the battery lol.
Keep the options coming

free postage - I highly doubt that if I would ordered it (to Germany) but yeah - something like that. Now i just have to find a less geographically challenging solution.
But thanks for the suggestion.

There is a company called EverDock that was on KickStarter, it features a DOCK where you can switch the plug from forward or reverse, plus you can either use it for Iphone, Ipad, Android Mini USB. There is also a dock they sell that allows two devices to be charged at one time. Here is a link

Any docks made specifically for OPO?
That would be awesome. Been looking for that.
An ideal one would be made out of bamboo, and with bamboo back cover...
I really dunno if this works, but I found a suggestion in another forum: http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00JGRIKOQ/ there I was told this works with the OPO, too.

That one breaks really easily. I've gone through 2 already (removing the phone from the dock eventually breaks the pegs that holds the cable in place).

Can you tell me what exactly breaks on this docking station? which pegs? why at the cable? the cable is on the backside, how does something break there when the phone is being removed?
BTW, stations for the HTC One M8 should be compatible I was told. Has anyone experiences with this?
could this be an alternative?
http://www.amazon.de/Emartbuy®-Funktion-kompatibel-Docking-Ladegerät/dp/B00KC0X98I
or such a universal usb docking station - as long as the usb plug has the right direction?
like http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00JFLV3KG/ref=nosim/andrhilfdeand-21 or http://www.ebay.de/itm/Universal-Do...e-Nexus-5-HTC-Desire-S-Desire-Z-/400802464581
Or is there more to watch out like angle of the plug or the distance to the backside?

it looks like the one from above: http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00JGRIKOQ/
but I am not sure: where does the phone have íts secure stand? Is the phone held by the usb connector only? My last shown examples above have a higher back, which can hold the phone very secure and protect the usb connector against the pressure when using the phone in the dock.
Check out the Lambda-Dock. The connector can be turned and its produced in germany...
