[Q] upgrade 1.84.832.2 ???? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok just coming from HD2 running CM7 2.3.4 (flashed a lot of roms on them)
Just got a DHD (yesterday) - has build 1.84.832.2 on it and stuck with Android 2.2.1.
Missing 2.3.4 and no official upgrade yet for HK version.
Questions
How can i root this phone (visionary+ does not appear on market)
is there anyway to upgrade to an official 2.3 rom from another region?

Yes, you can root the phone, but since you have 1.84 FW, you need to downgrade.
Once you downgrade, you can then install CWM recovery and flash different ROMs
*for downgrade guide - CLICK HERE
*for official ROM sources - CLICK HERE (files by andy, credit goes to him)

sorry but u answered the same thing like me but with another words....

uuuuhhhh...no, not really,

Semantics aside - thanks. to both of you.
still trying to get to grips with DHD.
Quite familiar with HD2 rooting and flashing.
have put adw launcher on it and it feels a bit more like home.

Rooting WWE 1.21?

I have just read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=665974

That's a load of rubbish. following the guide on here or MoDaCo will give you a rooted 1.15.xxx.x ROM with SU or you can use the MCRr3 ROM which is based on 1.21.xxx.x
2.1 you're on about is Android 2.1 which the Desire has out of the box...

Thats not True ! If u root a 1.21 Rom u stay 1.21 !!! U cant downgrade the Desires bootloader !
If u flash the testimage with
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash update testimage.zip
U will have a rooted ROM without SuperUser but with RootAccess ;-)
Can you root the stock 1.21 WWE ROM, though? I didn't think it was possible yet as it's not properly out yet...might be worth asking Paul on MoDaCo to be sure...

Possible root for official 2.1... (Confirmed not Working)

EDIT: It doesn't work, let's move on.
Just saw this now, apparently it works for all HTC 2.1 devices using the 'fake ota' method.
I will rewrite the guide here once someone has confirmed it works.
I can not and will not test this as I wasn't stupid enough to flash the official 2.1 RUU.
http://forum.androidspin.com/showthread.php?p=13939#post13939
Once you get to clockwork mod recovery you should be able to flash a custom rom!
Thanks to Eugene373 for this

Reports on the guide website suggest that this will NOT work for HTC Hero users or in fact any phone which did not originally ship with v2.1 of Android.
I'd love someone to prove this wrong so keep trying but don't get your hopes up.

I just wan't to make it more clear to my self. If I understood you ppl right, there is no possible way to root official GSM 2.1? Or am I wrong?
And does anyone know, how fast we will get rooted GMS EU 2.1 after it is released? Fast thing to do?
Also first part of OTA (YouTube update), i hope it didn't take ability to root from me?

There is no known way, yet.
There are already rooted GSM custom rom's based upon the 2.1 releases which have happened so far. It takes dev's a few hours from release usually to get them into the public domain.

If you installed the latest ota just downgrade & root.
For rooting the europe 2.1 I aim to be as fast as last time but it depends on when it is released.

Well then IMO you have to add to your guide.
"First, you need to downgrade your ROM to 2.73.xxx.x"
Like: "Also downgrade 2.73.405.93, even if it starts with 2.73...".
Btw: If I would flash Part 2 OTA update, 2.1 andoird, would it be as easy as now, to downgrade?

You can't downgrade once you flash part 2 as the version will change from 2.73.xxx.xx
Yeah I do need to change that, I just couldn't remember it when I was writing it!

[Q] Upgrade my HTC Desire on 2.3 gingerbread ?

Hi all...
I'm really not an expert in this, so I need help and advice from you guys...
My question is,how can I upgrade htc desire from version 2.2 to newest verion , i thins 2.3 is latest or maybe I can upgrade it to 3.0 ?
Thanx in advance
Regards
No official upgrades available. 3.0 will be never released for the Desire, it's mostly for Tablets.
You can Root your phone, and then flash a custom ROM, if you want the latest version.
Tutorials and ROMs are here.

[Q] 2.42.415.1 not rooted yet ..!!

Hi all,
I follow the instructions in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152233 from CuBz90
But still not working in Desire HD with builed number 2.42.415.1
I try many times but I unfortunately failed..

downgrading 2.42 is not yet found.........
we must hav to wait........
Thanks man i just wanted to know if it will work on my 2.42.... .
Hello,
I think it should works. This is using the Goldcard method. The goldcard is a general method which should not be dependent on the phone version !
With goldcard you can install other OFFICIAL stock roms.
In the field of Android custom ROMs, what a Gold Card does is letting you install ROMs on your Android device that aren’t intended for your carrier. For example, if you have a T-Mobile USA HTC Desire, you can install an official ROM intended for the O2 UK HTC Desire, or even a generic ROM that isn’t locked to a carrier. It does so by disabling the CID (Carrier ID) check that the device does when installing a ROM.

Using the goldcard doesn't need any root permissions. It is a htc way to use other official stock roms. First you try to downgrade to official stock rom 1.32.405.6 then try to root this version.

it could be ,but it wont work ,i also contacted jsl about it ,and he kept telling me u just need to let it go to sleep and then wake it up u will find an error which i couldn't get
but somehow i feel we are going root soon with 2.42.415.1 maybe this week,
but what do u think about going to the latest 2.50 ?
no way...am not going to update......the we have to wait again for downgrading 2.50.............
I will downgrade my 2.42 wen it comes.......
It will be great if we downgrade this week itself..........
I have lost almost 1 month for rooting my fone.....
now no way......
thanks all for reply ..
The waiting answer is not enough for me and the others , unless some one tell us if they works on it to figure out how to solve the root issue
thanks to all members in this forum specially the supportive peoples who give us that hope.
Am Still waiting since along time.. for a hope
i agree with you ,knowing someone is working on it is good and hopefull.

What do you mean official ? What I assume your official is stock . And you want stock JB ROM . If you want that , just find the JB RUU for your CID if it's been released for your CID and flash it ??
Yeah, if you have the official RUU for your phone then you're good to go. I doubt you have it though?
If you're still on an ICS hboot such as 1.28 you could always flash the official 4.0.4 stock RUU and then wait for the OTA update.
If you're on a 1.31 or 1.33 hboot, I read a thread about downgrading them, might be worth a search on the forums.

If you're on 1.33 that means your CID is Taiwan's CID . Just go check if anyone have posted the latest RUU and flash it .
