[Q] Volume Control - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I'm looking for a way to control the volume for specific notification types separately.
I get emails frequently, but SMS/MMS messages less frequently. I want to be able to set the "New E-mail" notification sound lower, but keep the "New SMS/MMS" sound higher since they tend to be more important and require immediate responses.
Is this possible natively or with a 3rd-party app?

Menu>Settings>Sound>Volume
In that drop down you can set the notification volume to what ever you want.
EDIT: I read that wrong. I didn't realize you wanted to set each notification to a different volume.

Try "Audio Manager" from the Market. The free version will do just what you are asking and also has a nice widget profile.

Thanks for the suggestion, but after installing the free version and watching a YouTube video of the Pro version, I don't think this will do what I want.
In case my original post wasn't clear, I want to be able to have different volume levels for the alert sound made for "New E-mail" and "New SMS/MMS".

Six - I got ya now. Did not fully understand what you were asking.
I have been struggling with the same types of issues. Coming from the Blackberry where you could associate sound and LED profiles for every type of action and each separate account and contact.
The only thing I would suggest is using a more aggressive ringtone for your SMS and a barely audible ring tone for e-mail. That is the only thing I have been able to come up with so far.

How to change calendar notification tone?

Hi, I've got my Galaxy S for 3 days now and can't figure out how to change the notification tone for calendar reminders.
Searching the net and this forum did not bring me really further (there is supposed to be a "more" under settings but it is just not shown for me).
Thank you for your help and sorry if it's a dumb question it is my first Android after years of HTC WM.

1) On SDkard make a new map called; media.
2) Open media and make a new map called; audio.
3) Open audio and make two maps, notifications and ringtones
Inside the map of notifications attach your personal mp3.
Finished
thank you for your instructions. which i followed. but still can't choose a tone from the menu options in the calendar just the overall notification tone.
I have the same problem (I have started another thread for this a few days ago)...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714948
Yeah I was interested in changing some of the default tones as well, such as the battery low tone.
The program Calendar Snooze lets me choose an alternative tone for reminders BUT additionally to the original tone (but still better than nothing).
There is a hint screen in Calendar Snooze saying that one should disable the default alert in the calendar to exclusively use the one chosen by yourself - what of course I can't do.
My friend's HTC Legend shows (within the calendar app) the option to change the reminder tone.
And yes I read something about reaching the "more" option in the calendar by using hw keyboard or trackball both not available for us.
Any further hints on this highly appreciated

[Q] All notifications sound the same?

Looking in settings I can't seem to set a different sound for different notifications. IE email sounds different than SMS.
Really? Clearly Android is in need of some 'Mobile Phone' settings.
This was one of my 1st gripes and the way round for me is to use 3rd part apps
1. Disable notifications in Settings
2. Install Handscent SMS and set it to play what ever sound when you get a SMS
3. Install Gmail Popup and set this to play a different sound for Emails received
Works for me and makes my Desire more desirable
removed
Try looking in the apps themself rather than in settings!
i.e. change Gmail notifications in GMail, SMS notifications in your messaging app etc et.
Regards,
Dave
Yikes... Every mobile phone since like 1982 has been able to change this in one place. I knew I was going to have a few problems with android but wow.
Is there an official place to submit enhancement (20 years ago) requests to the android development team?

You rather miss the point. Since Android allows all sorts of new applications, with all sorts of potentially new notifications, there is no way you can have a "one stop shop" for notifications.
I have 4 email accounts setup in Gmail, and each of them has a different notification sound. It would be very hard to achieve this if notification sounds were handled centrally.

Dave
And if you don't change the sound in an app it uses the default one as set in the 'Sound' settings in the menu, under 'Notification sound'

Custom Ringtones Per Contact

I think I saw this mentioned before but I can't find the thread it was in for the life of me.
I really need to be able to set custom ring tones per contact. I have clients that pay for 24/7 support and I have set really annoying and distinctive ring tones per client. I have no way to do this on the Razer phone. I tried using Zedge (I really don't want to do this as I have made my own tones) and setting a ringtone to the contact in the app but it doesn't seem to work and I see no way to do it in contacts, as you would normally would.
Any big brains out there have some thoughts?

Default notification sound overriding individual app notification sounds

This appears to be a new "feature" with Pie. If you have apps that use their own notification sound but don't have a setting to allow the user to change the notification sound (e.g., ESPN, Life360, many others), Pie now apparently forces the app to use the default notification sound instead of the app's own "built in" sound. So I have the 3 XL's default "Popcorn" notification sound going off right and left and no idea which app is signaling me with a notification.
I have no idea how to approach this. Are the apps just in need of being completely updated to comply with Pie's apparent new requirement of a setting to select notification sounds? Or is this something that Google should be asked to change (back to)? Bearing in mind how few people are on Pie -- what is it, 2 or 3% of Android users? -- I'm not sure how responsive developers for big apps like Facebook or ESPN would be to requests to update their apps to comply with this new, um, feature of Pie.

Messages app notification sound settnigs

Cannot find option te set notification sound in messages app settings. It is possible in general device sound settings but causes the same notification sound in all apps. Is it solution ?
Open your message app
Next tap on the person message you want to customize the notification sound
Next tap on the 3 dots on the top right corner and select custom notification and tap one more time to enter the customized field
There look for sound
Thats it
Hope this helps
Unfortunately when you delete a thread with an individual where you have set a custom sound, the sound goes back to default.
You can also use Textra App. Amazing UI and customization with that app. Support Dev with pro version to unlock other useful features.
Only if you don't use RCS (well I can't find anywhere that third party apps support it).
If your looking to change the message app notification sound it self then do this

Yes that's it.
I didn't notice in first look that "new messages" and "general notifications" could be double tapped with further possibility to set sounds.
Thanks for that and for previous posts as well.
