New radios for desire: in danger ?? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Maybe we will not have new radios for our dear beloved HTC Desire?
I read on Mo_firouz website that he will not retrieve the newest radios because he no longer has HTC desire but a sgs2. Sigh!!!
Anyone has any further news on this?

There is not just one guy who posts the radios. And if a new radio becomes avilable, you can download it from other sources.

Can tell you that in the past month we've had 2 new radio's. Maybe 2 months. And tbh there are loss of places to get them anyway. Not just devs that post them but members and they post them on other forums too.
Swyped...

thanks
Thanks to all that answered to my request.

HTC Hero Sprint Model brewed ROMs?

This may seem like a dumb question to many of you, but I've been out of the loops for years now... last rom i updated was on my HTC SDA! Anyway, I see a lot of ROMs circulating here, but am unsure if the lowest common denominator for all these is the GSM version; more so, if there's even a community for cooked Sprint ROMs here for the HTC hero. I'm looking to switch to Sprint; pick up a Hero, and hopefully put a quasi 2.1 Eclair on here before the official rls. date, and w/o all the obligatory Sprint bloatware.
Thanks in advance for any answers!
there is a CDMA Hero subforum! :]

Video recording 720P

Hi all !
N1 can recording video in 720p, is it possible for Desire too ?
Thx
There's a dirty rumour that the link at the top of this page (called Search) has all the answers you are seeking.
:-0 not another non searcher ....... getting sick of the same threads popping up
The video camera wont work because its froyo radio releated and 720p will (probably) never work due to source code from htc not being out and they will never release it (that i know of)
@foxilliams: wait for the source code of froyo to be released, after that mods/devs here can dish out that hack for u in a day or two.... we all r keeping our fingers crossed for the official froyo release and hence the source code.... got it buddy ????
Like N1 720p is not possible without a proper radio.img
Not possible yet.
As for the people who have nothing more to say but "Search"... Can you please get over yourself. You're not a moderator and you have no right to boss anyone around. In any case, Android is constantly changing and what may have been an adequate answer two weeks ago may not be an adequate answer today.
but I will update Desire with custom rom ,
only whan i have all gadgets in functions
this mean with videorecording(720p) also
Now I have searched. I have not seen an answer.
Can it be done?
I see the n1 update but no Desire update.
Is it a case of updating the radio to the correct version and then flashing the nexus one camera or of having a certain rom etc...?
Before being sarcastic can someone at least post the search terms one might look for, other than 720p,desire,video,camcorder,update etc..
FFS, couldn't you be bothered reading a couple of posts?
the answer has already been posted in this very thread
Again... No, 720p is not possible on the HTC Desire yet until we get an updated radio

Its not exactly an answer because no one has mentioned updated from what to what. I have updated my radio when I upgraded to Froyo is that new enough or does it require an even newer radio.

well considering the fact that we cannot use 720p on any of the current radios available...
i would say it's a definite strong possibility that we might need an even newer radio, yes

Ho ho very funny
Its quite hard to pick all this up I worked on something for a week(so I wasnt playing) and defrost went from 0.9 to 1.3. Some people dont spend all day on here so be gentle peeps.
You read on 1 link that the N1 has 720p then its not possible on the N1 or the desire and we just need a radio update but is the radio similar enough that there might have been a radio brought out that might be compatible. If you follow these threads other than all the time sometimes its hard to keep up even with searching.
But that all said thanks for the clarification guys.

HTC Desire now on Cellular South

Hey guys
So here is the deal. Cellular South has just released a CDMA version on the Desire. I plan on picking one up very soon. Until then I am trying to find out if any devs would help me port a desire rom for use on a my network. Please contact me through pm or this thread as I will frequent it. I have no prior knowledge of porting roms for use on different devices. I am assuming I will be able to root the same way I did with my Hero as they are probably similar in that aspect. I would love to be active in this process and hopefully learn something that I can take to the next level and give back to this great community that I have had the please of being a member of for the past year. Anyway I'm starting to ramble. If this is a feasible task please help point me in the right direction.

You should be able to use unrevoked 3.2 to root and install any cdma desire roms. which opendesire is the only one right now, and its still got the backlight and oj problem.
its the same phone as far as i know as USCC released last month.

[REQ] New Forum and Wiki for HTC Merge

Hi admins,
Ive been using the HTC Merge for over a month now, and the phone was released in the states a week or two ago. A bunch of us merge users have been hanging around in other device threads or general threads trying to make some noise and get this thing rooted. However, a separate forum and wiki entry would help to get things organized.
PS: Any devs interested in helping us get cyanogen working on this? Its quite similar to the G2/Desire Z/HTC EVO shift. A custom bootloader+recovery is all we need.
+1
My wife got an Alltel HTC Merge the day before they were to be released. It's a great phone; just needs some love from XDA.
Forum for HTC Merge
Agreed--please create a dedicated forum for this device. It has been available with Alltel for a month now, and it will soon be released on other CDMA carriers. Since it's GSM-capable too, there's much interest in it in other parts of the world, too. And Alltel's selling it SIM-unlocked!
True, i have a US Cellular merge, and its sim unlocked too. So this phone could be big on the account of being a world phone. And yet it has no presence on the internet other than rumor posts from last year on tech blogs and the likes.
bring it on! we need perm root, roms, and kernels! Its on the verizon site now so hopefully it will be much more widespread very soon.
Get my HTC Merge/Lexikion this week in United Kingdom, London
DEVELOPMENT INSIGHT: Read post 8 & post 23 below link - "steviewevie" seems to be a Admin/moderator the the HTC Vision [Desire Z & G2].
The Merge ADR6325 falls under the Vision list apparently.

FYI, Stevie is not an Admin nor is he the mod of G2/DZ - that would be me. The Merge for the two devices was not only because they were in the Vision family, but rather because the shared the same specs and development is almost identical for both.
As far as the Wiki, Users are allowed to add into it, so why don't you try your luck at creating an entry?
We will only be adding devices if we see that they are necessary on the forum and either if a few thousand people want the device or there is existing development for it.
This is very much needed. I check this site all of the time looking to see if there are any Merge news about root and dev being done. I think now that Verizon is releasing the merge that there will be a big community. Hopefully some people that know more about developing than I do will work with the Merge. I have had mine over a month now and it is the best phone I have ever had.

Guys I Have an ALLTEL Merge.
And the GPS is not working whatsoever.
Please see my post and someone independent confirming my experience....

Anyone else with ALLTEL experiencing this flaw?
What a load of crap!
From what I can see, this ALLTEL rom is only bespoke in the form that it has a few ALLTEL wallpapers and a bootscreen animation - other then that its all HTC Sence STOCK - so how the fuNk did they mash the GPS.
Very annoyed
GPS works on my Alltel Merge

GPS works on my Alltel Merge with only the GPS on and the wireless location service turned off.
It does, however, take quite a while to get a lock, especially with a cloudy sky.
GPS has never worked on my Alltel Merge. I love the phone but wish GPS worked and wish I could install custom roms.
I have been looking EVERYWHERE for HTC Merge rooting and themes and haven't found a thing. There definitely needs to be a dedicated forum on here.
We definitely do need a forum, and we also need to get these phones onto custom recovery so we can start making and flashing roms. We need these guys. Ive been trying to contact them, but cant find a contact vector, and dont have the time to dig in these days. Anyone else want to try? The more noise we make, the more chances we may have to get this done.
Looking forward to a Merge Thread too.
+1 more for a Merge forum. I just got the US Cellular version yesterday. Switched from WinMo TP2. Haven't found a decent forum yet. Got my fingers crossed.
I also have the USCC Merge...love the phone so far. Would love to see some custom roms and stuff for it!
I, too, am excited to see the HTC Merge rooted!! I have the USCC Merge and really really want to get it rooted so I can run a few specific ROMS. Great phone so far after about a week of having it (upgrade from a Blackberry Curve :0 ). Thanks XDA!
+1 more for merge development, great phone!
got my uscc merge few days ago and i love it! could be alot of potential if someone would just look into it. please please, and thanks!
It's already a great device, but it would be even better rooted. Thanks for your time.

[Q] Suggestion for making HTC Desire CDMA/GSM in seperate threads

Ever since I got this phone when it came out in the US I came on here and all I was seeing was GSM this and that. Now its even harder to find anything.
I used to work on phones with the help with the XDA forums. since last year I haven't found crap..well not much to get anywhere.
Just a suggestion.
I believe HTC Desire in the UK hit number one beating the iPhone so yes this phone is very popular and I really think there should be two threads for GSM Phones only and CDMA Phones only.
I spent hours on here and really didn't come up with anything that would help because by the time i finish reading it says for GSM phones only. URGH!!
I'm working on a CDMA Megathread, because it will hopefully bring in more development to our phones.
Thank you very much. I'm sure others will appreciate it as well.

So I'm assuming it's a no go?
I just want to root my phone. I'll keep reading more.
