i prefer sgp ultra silke
or ultra capsule
because it come with ultra clear screen protector
and sgp is the best.
[you can find it in ebay]

Yes but the case-mate tough case is of better quality, and gives you a better grip.

It will depends on what you'll want to protect.. if entire body or just the critical areas..
the barelly there covers the back and side while the tough covers the top and bottom too and add a little bump in the 'face' edges.. i think you understand.
the tough maybe get a better effect if you somehow drop your phone to the floor, while the barely there will cover the just the essencial agains scratches for most.
it's a dificult decision i know...
good luck anyway

I went with the tough and a zagg screen protector I don't want this phone hurt it's my baby

How I wish the Barely There gave total protection. Why can't a case be slim and thin and protect everything?

I went and ordered BOTH
Plan on using the BarelyThere for general everyday use, and the Tough for when I'm doing outdoors stuff or travelling.

I'm using the tough case. I actually wanted my phone thicker as I find handsets too thin nowdays. I also like full protection as I'm pretty active and my phones tend to take some hits. This one will take that thinness away that many covet so if a person were one of those this one should get a skip unless the need for protection overrides that. Other attributes are that it has a decent gripiness factor for a hard case. Does not collect lint on the exposed rubberish parts. Cut outs are very accurate and sized so that I did not have to trim to get any of my chargers or headphones to fit but the cutouts are not overly large either. Overall I would rate this case highly for the right person.

I had the second one for a few days but found the edges very rough and poorly made - took it back

What's the second one for you? (because mahdibassam puts the tough image first and barely there image the seconde, but in links is barely there first..)

I'm waiting on my tough case to arrive. Should be here tomorrow. I also have a zagg on the way thanks to the 50% off sale.
Would one of you that own the tough case mind posting up some pictures of it on the phone? I've only seen the promo shots.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
my heart is with the tough case, because i like its full protection and good grip, but i am worried it will make the phone too bulky.
Could some of you who have the Tough case post some Pictures in this thread? i and everyone else will really appreciate it.

I always got the orange Peel effect off zagg
...Ill never buy another one.
I can say though that they do really protect the screen ... also due to the material they get really dirty round the edges ...

SGP cases are awesome ...
Did you go with the silke or the capsule ?
EDIT - I was lucky enough to see both of them, my mate ordered quite a few of both ..I prefer the silke ..feels and looks better ..
SILKE
Fully recommend...
CAPSULE
More of a vinyl look ..gets a little greasy from fingerprints ..still a great case ...seems a little tougher too ...

is the tough-case the same as they the iPhone one, they have in the video on their site?
Does it have an internal silicone (type) case? and then the tough case goes onto of that?

I have a tough case on mine, I buy it for all my phones. Love the grip and protection it adds. I also like the fact that the edges around the screen are raised so if you drop it wont hit the screen unless its an uneven surface.

Yes, it has a thin silicone inner liner and then the hard case around that. The fit is very good with both and the cutouts are exactly right and line up on both. I have now drop tested my phone on a linoleum floor and the phone and case were unblemished so that answered my question about this case and others like it as far as popping out on a drop. At least in this instance the phone stayed in.
And guys, some of us have had SGP and not liked it as well so remember in many ways you are talking opinions and those will change based on needs and preferences. For me looks are at the very bottom of my buying criteria. To be honest I liked my old seidio innocase better than this case. Fit and other factors were about the same with that case but I really like the hard rubbery feel of it, I thought they nailed it with that material and feel. Great grip, didnt get sweaty in the hand when you were forced to make a long call, didn't collect lint, no fingerprints.

Got my tough case in the mail today. Slapped it on as soon as I got home. Fits beautifully. Adds size to the phone but honestly I prefer it a bit bigger. Has a nice grip feeling to is now and I'm not in panic mode every time I take the phone out. I'm sure the phone is durable. I just don't want to take the $750 challenge.
My screen protector should be here tomorrow and I'll be good to go.

Incipio Feather case for Samsung Captivate

I'll try to make this quick. The case has a very nice soft rubbery finish. it fits realyl nicely and tight, but it is not hard to put on at all. It is also easy to take off starting from the top of the phone. It doesn't block any buttons nor the bottom-front and sides of the phones where the soft keys are located and where you usually scroll on the touch screen. I bought this directly from Incipio instead of waiting for it to hit eBay.

Thanks for the hi-def pics. I'd been looking at the two Incipio cases versus Otterbox. Still not convinced I need a case yet, but the feather looks nice.
awesome - i had a feather case for my zune, and loved it. i was kinda hoping they'd make something for the captivate.
Seems to rather miss the point of a case IMO; what's the point of a case that doesn't cover all 8 corners?
I have this now and like it a lot
Its a case thats meant to stay out of the way but still have some protection, just the back obviously lol. Main thing i like about it is the feel, without a case i always feel like im goin to drop my phone....but with this it gives a better/secure feel in your hands
Hmm this case looks pretty decent. Thanks for the pics, I may end up getting this!

Same here. I have dropped my phone 3 times outside since I have owned it from September and once with this Feather case after going to a club and getting wasted.
I'm using this one as well. Tried a number of cases when I had the iphone 3GS. So when I saw they have one for the captivate it was the first case I got.
I'm a bit disappointed though. It doesn't look as symmetrical as the one for iphone. And the rubbery material has rubbed off quite easily at the corners. I did not have this problem with the iphone case.
Still a great case. Love the feel and how thin it is.

I agree. If you drop it face first there doesn't seem to be any protection. Personally I like the Otterbox Commuter case as it gives you protection on all corners and still is pretty slim.... but that's just me.

The otterbox commuter case is going to make the phone larger in width it but it offer 100% protect to the phone. The plastic is no way cheap. It is made of the same polycarbonate material as your case. It is a tight fit with a silicone lining to offer impact protection. Your case only protects the back of the phone. The most most breakable part such as the glass is left completely exposed. I'm not trying to start anything but that case seem completely pointless.
Also, the feather case you are showing is very different from what is showing on their site. You look like to have some sort of belt clip phone holder then a case.
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Ca...tivate-feather-Ultralight-Hard-Shell-Case.asp
Some people don't need the Commuter. I have it and realized it's annoying to take it in and out of your pocket. So a nice thin minimal case like the feather is just what we need for day to day use. When I go camping I'll throw on the commuter.

It seems like it's a website mistake as those pics are exactly the same as the ones used for the EDGE case.
I agree though, the part of the phone that needs the most protection is the part where this case has absolutely none. Their feather case for the Vibrant is designed far better.
that case looks pretty sweet

They will send you a new one. Just be careful putting it on and taking it off.
bought Insipio feather from Amazon. Love it. It gives you protection for back and some protection for corners, but it doesn't make it totally alien or bulky looking because the glossy parts are still exposed. If you want complete protection then this is not for you, but if you want some protection yet still sharp looking without matt/dull finish all over the phone then this is for you. Something about matt cover not being visible over the front of the phone makes it appealing.

Atrix TPU Case Received, pics inside

Hey everyone, I received my TPU case from EBay (item 290530353216) today, here are some comments and pics. The fit is only OK - the cutout for the USB/HDMI ports is a little off, and there is a little bit of an edge around the power button that impedes fingerprint swipability a little. I will say too that I didn't expect it to have the goofy pattern - what is it with TPU cases and argyle patterns?? Also, as you've noticed it is somewhat translucent.
I give it a 3/5. $7 shipped in the US. I'll keep it until another inexpensive case rolls around that is higher quality.
And just in case anyone wonders, on my screen are the Pandora Widget, Android Agenda Widget, and some apps. I am running ADW Launcher (free). Also, I know I left my back panel sticker on there, and that was on purpose.

Yeah seriously with the frikin argyle ****! Its like they made a billion sheets of the argyle TPU and they just like heat mold them to phones (not like thats how they're made). This will be my third phone encased in argyle TPU. Other two were the dark one like yours, this time I got sick of trying to hide the argyle and people asking about the stupid pattern. I got clear so, "yes its frikin argyle! got a problem!?"
Waiting for the Realook screen protectors to be cut. no idea why it takes them so long to cut the right size. Realooks are by far the best screens...
Everything is temporary at this point...I'll buy nicer stuff once my 30 days are up.
I was fortunate enough to have a solid black non-patterned TPU case for my EVO that someone on this forum actually commissioned and was selling out of their garage essentially.
Check out tpu-cases.com. I bought an all black one there, shipped same day. Quality is nice, it's glossy, feels good in the hand for an 8$ case.
the 1.99 one I got from ebay is decent
Nice, never seen that site before. I'll order one up and hopefully it'll get here by the time I'm home from travel. Wish someone would make one like I had for my Evo though - it was matte on the back and shiny on the front.

Well I tried the Speck (or whatever it's called) case from AT&T and hated it...looked and felt like a toy.
Then I tried the Otterbox Impact (the smallest case they make). It's made of a type of rubber that sucks up all dust and won't let it go. It's pure black rubber but after putting it in my pocket and driving up to Starbucks to meet some friends...it looked gray. My pockets don't have any lint or anything in them...and yet the case now looks completely gray. I just put it on yesterday. It's also a bit big for my tastes...and the phone can easily come out of the bottom.
I'm going to try the cheapest cases on eBay. They always worked great for my Nexus 1 and most other phones I've used. The cheap thin rubber is fantastic for me. The phone's so freaking sexy...I just don't want to add a bunch of mass to it.

i like the feather as well. not much in terms of impact protection, but most of my scratches come from the phone vibrating on the desk over time and scuffing the battery door, so its a nice line of defense against that. also, its a little less slippery than the standard battery door which i like

Yeah its great for worrying less about the normal wear and tear.
I particular like the argyle tpu cases which give decent protection and feel. i have it for the ipad, galaxy tab, atrix, inspire, and xoom.
www.degasis.net offers these as well
I ordered my case from http://www.degasis.net/models/atrix.html (as the poster above recommended. $6.98 shipped
This is the best fitting TPU case I've had across all my devices. The best part is that it actually makes the on/off button easier to push and the finger scanner easier to operate (its cut at the perfect angle to compliment it). Its slightly different cut but a better fit than the pictures posted above.
I'll post pictures when I come across another camera some time today or tomorrow.
TPU is far superior to any other case material in my book. perfect balance of grip/non-stick, thinness, protection, and fit.

That's the problem I have with the feather - it doesn't protect either end of the device, only the sides and back.
Judging by the picture, it looks like you have that "textured" screen protector. What is the screen protector you are using? Those are my favorite kinds and I have been trying to find one for a while! thanks in advance

I have the speck and the incipio feather. The speck adds too much bulk to the phone but the case looks nice and protects the phone appropriate. The incipio feather is really nice but it cracks easily even without dropping the phone just by taking it off the phone several times....

I have the Speck case and am more than impressed with it. Although it does add a little size to the stock phone, the protection is more than worth it. Side by side with the otter box and this thing looks as thin as a poker chip. Also the back of the case does get scratched up but who cares, that's what cases are for! This case meets every one of my needs so to me there's no better case on the market right now.

ive been using the case since i got the phone and really like how theres a hard shell and the rubber lining around the screen. also makes the phone feel really solid. it does scratch really easily but i put some carbon fiber tape on it to cover it up and add some grip. its still a bit slippery for me so i just ordered a tpu case from ebay to see how it feels.

I have this same issue with the Speck case, and its really frustrating. The way I do it is to turn it over, push the center of the case with both my thumbs (as if you're holding a sandwich/burger). Keep pressing it and flexing the sides until the back cover pops off partially (usually from the top of the phone), and then separate the phone from the case by slowly pulling on it from top to bottom.

Sigh.....
call me a fruit, but it pisses me off that Speck is only making making one color of the case
just purchased the Speck case today from AT&T
It fits perfectly, in my opinion it DOES NOT add very much bulk to the phone AT ALL. But I did just come off of the OtterBox Defender that is a big freakin case
Overall, the Speck to me, seems like a phenomenal case, fits well, doesn't add any weight or size to the phone that is unnecessary, and the all black gloss looks sleek
I compared the spec against the otterbox commuter the other day at AT&T store and went with the commuter for the same price. About the same bulk. Both the store employee and I struggled to remove the spec, which at least means it's secure, and it dang near broke my battery cover since it popped off and got stuck in the spec. If the spec were a lot cheaper or you didn't want to pop it off often it seems great but the 2 piece design of the commuter is pretty ideal.

i absolutely love my speck case. i take my phone out by just using one hand to kinda pull the lip away from the phone screen, and the other hand to push in the fingerprint scanner.
i wish it looked cooler, but for the protection it adds with not a lot of bulk (IMO at least, it's not that bad at all, i compared it to my friend's otterbox'd iphone and i much prefer my speck)
it is a pain in the arse to remove.. i push the phone out by the power button/fingerprint scanner, while simultaneously pulling back on the lip of the case.
it keeps your phone protected thats for damn sure --but I use the Incipie feather as my everyday ---- the sleekness of it is way better

the only thing i dont like about this case is the scratches that it gets on it. best way for me to get it off is left thumb in the camera hole right thumb in the bottom of the finger print scanner and fingers on the rubber edges on the front.
I think the case is good, better then decent drop protection but the scratches make me sad haha, honestly it was worth getting but I will be searching for a new one simply because I am picky and like different cases for different situations.

Thin cases or even none!

I'm looking for a really thin and lightweight case for my note. I really prefer to use it without the flipcase, and like the SGP ultra thin that I had for my S2. But the ultra thin is not out yet and just about every case is either too bulky or made of tpu or some other material that I don't like.
So what do u guys think? Is it sufficient to just use a screen protector? I keep my phone in my bag when not in use.

supposedly the slimmest case around.
either grab one of those, or grab one of the ebay plastic cases.
but pointless to get a case that is too slim as it wont end up offering any worthwhile protection. it may prevent scratches, but wont help with drops.

i got it 2 days ago , great grey/smoke transparent case , also i noticed it is very thin ,even thinner than the Nillkin cases (i have 2 Nillkin cases).
now i can easily plug my MHL / those big 3.5 stereo audio adapters, while with the nillkin, i had to take it off for both those adapters to fit , not saying Nillkin case is a bad one , no its is a great case.
so far im loving this new case , cos i tend more to like transparent dark cases.
hope this helps someone making up his mind
cheers

Trying to influence geeks to buy it now? Lol!!
SGP Ultra Thin
Thank you for all the suggestions! I didn't know about the existance of some of them! I may still go for the Ultra Thin Air now that it is available as I had it for my S2 and coupled with an SGP screen protector, seems good enough.
For those who are unsure about how good the screen protector is, check out the video at the bottom of this page.
Does the SGP ultra easily get fingerprints?

Surprisingly you can't find that case on Casemate site. Fake case maybe?
Well being a glossy plastic I suppose it does. My case for the S2 was white so it wasn't that obvious. Btw, I had dropped that phone at least a couple of times with the casing on, without any issues to the screen or bezel. Though admittedly the height was about three feet or less.

This case, FlexiShield Skin is pretty good in the thin department. Not the thinnest but then I think its good to offer some protection just in case theres a drop and you need it:

this one should be thinnest u can found..

Not fake.
Yet to be released, along with Case Mate Tough Case and Smooth Case for the Note.
i like the golla but note sure how much protection it really offers
I have read bad reviews for the Ultra thin air sgp for the GS2.
What are the chances that SGP will fix the problems from the S2 for the Note Ultra thin?
What bad reviews did you read about the S2 version?

Got one of these a few days ago, the case itself is thin and fits like a glove, that being said it scratches really quickly (it was scratched by the time I put the screen protector on) on the backside, screen protector so far seems solid.

Ultra Slim Covers

These are covered in the "Master List" but that doesn't seem like the appropriate forum to discuss specific items on the list in detail...

"This 2-pack comes with two different colors and textures of Samsung Galaxy S III Ultra Slim Covers. The Galaxy S™ III Ultra Slim Cover provides additional protection for your handset against scratches on the back of the device. If you typically don't buy cases for mobile phones, this is the option for you. The case is ultra slim, giving you the feeling that it's not even there - aside from the texturized grip it provides, keeping the phone from sliding off surfaces or falling out of your pocket. Allows unimpeded access to ports and buttons, assuring your Galaxy S III is fully functional."

Does anyone have one of these? What are your thoughts? Exactly how thin are these things?
There's three main reasons that I never use a case:
There's only so much room in my pocket as it is
Decreases sexiness
I use mounts that are designed specifically for my phone. A case would get in the way of that.
If I am to believe their marketing... "The case is ultra slim, giving you the feeling that it's not even there"... then it would seem like at least #1 and #2 on my list would not be as much of a concern. #3 would probably still be an issue, but who knows. I plan on getting a ProClip holder for my SGSIII, and I've never had one before so I don't know exactly how snug it will be. If this cover really is as thin as they make it sound, maybe it'll even fit in that too.
Thoughts?
P.S. Show of hands... who saw "ultra slim, giving you the feeling that it's not even there" and immediately wanted to make a sexual joke?
I've also been looking for the slimmest case possible and been eyeing these. Any input would be appreciated!

+1 also interested in these but have no idea how they translate as noone has reviewed them or has them that I've seen.
I'm not as worried about scratches as I am about the thing sliding out of my pocket or very short falls.
Although I'm sure this thing would probably increase friction enough to lower my concerns about pocket escape I'm not sure that it looks like it provides any additional padding vs my kitchen floor.
My main doubt with these is whether the case is so thin it breaks or becomes stretched..
Will have to check best buy to see if they are going to carry this like the flip cover.
And I will be the first to admit that I thought of a sexual joke too.
Well I went to buy them and they are on back order... guess they are more popular then we thought.

Doesn't look like that item really offers anything in terms of protection, aesthetics, or ease-of-holding. The Samsung ones probably don't offer much protection either, but the texture will at least help to grip the phone. Looks a little nicer too.

Just ordered that few days ago. lol
0.3mm thin! think about it! Though it doesnt offer much protection, im only planning on using it around the house and my friends houses.
I typically get a tough case like a Silicryllic or Otterbox, and a lighter/thinner hard case to protect from scratches when being put down, keep cameras protected, and a slight drop.
For my thin case I bought the Rock Quicksand in grey for my Pebble Blue GS3, and am VERY happy with it. It adds a lip around the screen so it can be set face down, controls are easy to get to, and it's different from everything out there. It's great to just have around the house, and set on a desk or counter and not worry about scratching the back.

Also considering the Diztronic blue TPU when it's released, and then either the Silicryllic or an otterbox maybe.

Slim Cases
I'm (DBA Cases) am going to release one in 2-3 weeks.
That one for a few bucks is going to be garbage. When you are talking thin cases you have to use the right materials - no way they are.
Mine have a special blend of polycarbonate to take falls and scratches, a great grip and better design.
Of course they will be more than a few bucks but I'll have them on EBAY probably.
Let me know I'd love to test and write a full review for ya I'll cover shipping

Saw a review for it on youtube. Looks really sleek but the deal breaker for me was that it doesn't have a lip in front that lets you leave it face down without scratching it up.
Here's the link though:

I went with the Incipio NGP in translucent gray and it looks really slick on my blue s3
hey this one is also a genuine samsung case and it has the lip:

does anyone have a pic of the genuine samsung clear one on the pebble blue phone? i can't find one online anywhere

I've got the Rearth Alpine White Ringke earlier in the week. It's super thin. I've got a Speck Candy shell arriving today for comparison...
I owned one of the 0.3mm cases from ebay for my s2 and I'll give you my opinion:
1. They protect the phone pretty well. Even through some minor falls the case still held on and didn't crack
2. The case scratches pretty easy. If you get the clear one its not as noticeable, but it was very noticeable when I owned the black one.
3. I kept a screen protector on the phone as the lip on the screen side is minimal and I was still scared of setting it down on the screen side otherwise.
4. Used the case for ~6mos(2 mos black version, 4 mos clear version) with no major issues. It is still on the phone as we speak.
5. Super cheap(~$3) and did exactly what it was supposed to do(prevent scratches on the phone and case
I already have one on order for my S3
