Text message already filled in - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I have been having this problem for quite some time now, the problem is that when I try to text a few of my friends, the text entry box is already filled in with thee text from a text message I was going to send but never did. This is very annoying and I NEED it to stop, anyone else have this problem? If my description isn't clear I'll try to illustrate it more clearly.
Say I go to send a text to my buddy, J. I start typing in the entry box "blah blah blah. blahhhblahhblahh." However, i do not send the text, instead I hit the back button (probably had to check something before i finished the text, and never ended up sending it to him.) Now every time I goto text J, the text entry box is always already filled in with "blah blah blah. blahhhblahhblahh." I have to delete the text and then start typing what i wanted to. I've tried just sending the "blah blah blah. blahhhblahhblahh." when it is auto filled in, however, it keeps reappearing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

You have to backspace delete the entire unsent message contents before backing out of the unsent message or it will show up each time until you do.

well I backpace out of it now and then back out but the "blah blah blah. blahhhblahhblahh." still comes up. Any ideas on how to fix that?

I had this exact problem when I first got my incredible2. Your phone has saved that text message you backed out of as a draft. Try hitting the menu key on your phone when visiting your messages. There should be a tab to hit caked " drafts". Hit that and you should be able to delete them. It's been awhile but that's what your issue is. Maybe someone else could chime in with things exact steps

Just did what you said, had a bunch of drafts of the undesired text. Deleted them all, problem still exists...any other suggestions?

had the same problem and was SUPER annoyed. I think its just a dumb bug in the default Messaging app. I switched to GO SMS Pro (free in the market) and haven't looked back. Way better than the default, in my opinion

I've been using TextSecure for some time now and haven't seen this problem. Keeps your messages encrypted as well so you can keep snoopers out.

Try restarting your phone after you do that. It seems to help, at least sometimes. Last time I had that problem it did.

Im with pioneer. Go sms is way better for texting and other messaging. I would still want to find the problem though

i had the same issue. I deleted all drafts, then restarted. But I've since moved on to Go SMS.

.
all you have to do is clear cache of "messaging" app in android management and close the app and restart it. It will be fixed

Such a pain in the ass...
I hate the way HTC implemented this.

Sent SMS keeps resending, can't delete!

The title says it all really. And the woman that I sent the text to originally is getting really peed off!
Any suggestions on how to get at the offending text & actually delete it from the Outbox? It's constantly there!
I had this happen to me once. I had to HR the phone to get it to clear. Nothing, not even a SR would clear it.
Dave
I had the same problem haha and the girl was getting pissed, hard reset was all I could find to fix it
Dang! What about software to delete from PC?
I used to have this problem when i had a wizard... what was happening was SPB Pocket Plus would terminate the messaging application, then when i would open it back up to write a message to someone it would resend a couple of my previous messages.
That was resolved by adding the messaging app to be excluded from SPB Pocket +'s feature to shut down apps upon pressing the close button. I think now SPB has realized this, among many other task manager apps, and u don't need to add the messaging app to a 'safe list' because i haven't had to do it forever.
Then it happened to me later but that was a problem with the network.
i'd go ahead and do the hard reset... :S

It says "Will do"....... hope the other 'alf doesn't see it & draw her own conclusions!

Help..Text message Inbox says I always Have "1 Unread" and wont go away

After messaging last night I realized I had one text in my inbox in both the touchflo icon, and in the normal windows message centert (next to inbox on the drop down it says 1). I thought I just missed one in my long thread but it was not the case.
I deleted all messages from my inbox, outbox and cleared deleted messages. No luck. I tried using the "clear all text and multimedia" selection with no luck. Numerous soft resets, and even switching my theme to see if it would vanish. I have been texting all day, and deleting and no luck with the phantom inbox. Any help would be appriciated to rid of this problem. Thanks!

This issue has been discussed in length here in other threads. Use the search function in the top right of the page to look for "SMS unread count fix"
Unzip this and put it on your storage card and then run the exe. It will fix your problem.
Thanks It worked perfectly. And sorry for the repetitiveness never found a solution searching, only numerous folks with the same problem.
Thanks again to you both!
This worked great!! Thanks!!!!
wow, it works on my x1
worked for me as well, although the problem came back... again... i managed to fix it permanentally by switching the phone from threaded to classic text view, deleting ALL text messages, then running the program. issue resolved.. it seems to have occurred because of the 2016 date stamp issue, one text was unaccounted for and coincidentally had the 2016 year stamp on it.
Hope this helps future readers - Mark
Hey guys,
I've run this thing about 10 times, and it's simply not removing that 1 from my homepage. The inbox doesn't show it but the HTC homepage does.
Any ideas?

It happens when you somehow texted yourself.. or so the theory goes... if that's not working I would suggest a hard reset..
I also suggest this thread be locked as this is the 100th or more thread about this topic
Edit.... also did you try soft reseting your phone after you ran the program?
I did try soft resetting. I used the reset button on the side of the phone. I don't understand it. I've never texted myself as you mentioned. So, I don't understand. And hard resetting is simply not an option. I have too much set on this phone now to go and update everything.
I'm using DeepShining's ROM from around February.
Hey, thanks !
It worked GREAT on my HTC Touch Pro !!!
Thank you again...

When I try to send a text message or any kind of message for that matter from the messaging program that comes on the phone....the message just sits there and say sending..... underneath what you are trying to send. So that tells me its hanging and net getting out. I can receive message with no problems. Can anyone direct me of what to do to correct it ? I have made sure all my settings in Network settings are the way they are suppose to be like they have been all along. Any help or directions or ideas would be so great. Thanks for your time.

more details.. on stock?
silly question but you'll be surprised... have you tried rebooting?
wipe caches?
fix permissions?
3rd party messenger?
yeah I have went over all that. I have checked all the messaging settings/permissions. I have rebooted a number of times. I have cleaned out all cache that I can...even with deep cleaner apps from the market. I even tried to install and use the handcent messaging app from the market and I get the same results. I try to send a text and the message notifier just sits there and spins because it is not going through. Again though, I can receive messages. this is really beginning to upset me.

Try 3rd party app? That's what I did. Messages would not go through...kept getting failed messages. So I downloaded am sms app and it worked with that one. (on Juggernaut ROM btw)

My phone is sickly much quicker and system storage and my main gig drive space increased because this new rom requires less space to install. Check it out. awesome !!!!! Look for the video on youtube..search these keywords.....Tuesday ROM for T-mobile Galaxy S2! [SGH-T989]

Too many SMS now messages won't work!

Hi all,
Having looked around I don't see anyone with the same issue as mine with regards to SMS.
I just got a new Nexus 2 days ago, and got the 4.0.4 update by doing the clear cache thing. All good.
I installed SMSBackup+ and started to restore all my text messages. Now I have about 21,000. Honestly I have no idea how I have that many, its possible some are dupes or something, I really don't know. But basically I left it to restore them overnight and woke up this morning with all my messages restored. Lovely.
But now, I tried to send a text to someone and it just froze. I quit to the home screen, went to go back to the message app but it just sits with a black screen doing nothing.
I presume its got something to do with it trying to load all the messages for the first time or something like that but I'm a bit gutted that it can't handle it. My old Galaxy S could handle them all with ease.
Is this a known issue on the GNex or am I asking too much with the volume of SMSs??
I'm a bit gutted if I've bought this brand new state of the art phone and it can't handle what my two year old SGS could!
It might have been the case that a couple of messages were corrupt. Try clearing the sms data and restoring again but only blocks at a time. If that doesn't work the messaging app might have an issue since your now running ics.
This could be an issue that hasn't been explored as your not the average user. I for 1 limit my messages at 200 a contact.

Thanks RT, but its so slow/congested it won't let me delete them either! I tried by going into the message app and choosing delete threads.
It loads every time I reboot the phone but if I do anything on it at all, it just shows me a black screen.
On first load I can see all the messages, but if I go into one of them, even one that is only 2 threads long, it just freezes on me.
Any idea how I can delete the SMS data without going through the message app?
Or am I staring down the barrel at a factory reset? (this isn't the end of the world as I only got the phone yesterday and haven't really installed anything yet)
Right then,
So instead of trying to do something with the stock message app to delete the sms messages, I downloaded delete old messages app and ran that before loading up the stock message software.
I think the next time I restore them I will try and put the 200 cap on them like my SGS did (I thought this was a limitation of the phone not an actual setting that I could adjust! I presume I'll find it in the stock SMS settings somewhere?)
Thanks for the help RT.
I've had that issue since froyo. anytime I restore thousands of texts, the messaging app just hangs. On the rare occasion it'll come to life but for the most part unusable. only solution seems to be to restore a small portion of your texts or have a blank slate

Quit being so popular. Too many SMS.
I made a second label in my GMail I call SMS Backup and every few weeks I'll change my backed-up messages from SMS to the Backup label so when/if I wipe and restore, it doesn't pull in all my messages. If I need anything, I can easily search for it.

To delete your messages / settings go into the sms app under Settings-Apps and clear all your data.
Yes you find the sms limit setting in the general setting within the sms app.

Where the hell did my messages go?

Ok so I had just received a text. Went to open from the notification bar and when I did it just took me to the message home screen saying "no conversations". I tried using Handcent to see if it was a glitch in default app but nothing there. Tried restarting and powering off phone. Nothing!
But what's weird is that there is no way in hell it could have actually deleted all those messages that fast (I had a 1500 message thread with one person alone). It's almost as if it just lost access to them.
Yes my phone is rooted and I believe I'm running one of the AOKP roms (been a while since I switched that's why I'm not completely positive)
Never had anything like this happen before, I know the messages have to be there somewhere, it's impossible for a phone this slow to just instantly delete over 2000-3000 messages.
Thanks for any help!

Dont quote me on it but i think text messages are stored in a database in the /data/data/com.android.messaging. I removed messaging from mine and use handcent so i cant really look. Just look for something in /data/data with messaging in the name.
I've had that happen on my original Droid a few times. I think it's caused by a low space thing, (which is extremely common on this device) and I've never found a way to get the texts back if they weren't backed up somewhere else. I agree with you that it's odd how quickly it can delete that many texts, though.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Cmlusco, Yea I checked /data/data and there was nothing there.
godsmacked, But shouldn't I have gotten a low space warning beforehand? My phone seemed fine at the time of doing this. But whatever, I had nothing important there that I needed.
But I still hate having lost all of them, maybe I'm just sentimental and liked having some of those convos. Especially since one was with a special girl (gay I know but whatever)
That happened to my friend who has an Inc as well. I don't see any way to get them back. SMS backup works I think or you can download go SMS to backup as well.

I can verify this happened to me several times using the stock OS. Never happened after I rooted/CM7'd it.
