Executive Assistant - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

In the past few days I'm using Executive Assistant as my lockscreen replacement, and it's very complete: it is very customizable, and shows all your unread emails, sms, unanswered calls, upcoming events etc.
The only thing I don't like is that if I press the home button, the stock lockscreen kicks in, and I cannot find a way to get rid of it for good.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I would like Executive Asssitant to be the only lockscreen on my phone.
Thanks!
This is the URL to the app developer: http://www.appventive.com/executive-assistant

Try downloading Home Switcher from the Market, then launch the app.
If Executive Assistant is in the list, then tap Clear default at the bottom, scroll down, tap Clear defaults, press the Back softkey, press the Home button, then check the Set as default box before tapping Executive Assistant.

use the app called "no lock".

Thank you, but apparently doens't work with the Galaxy S2!!
So far the only lockscreen replacement that works flawlessly is GoTO, but I don't like it so much.

Executive Assistant doesn't show in the list so, if I got it right, the problem is with ADW Launcher: basically whatever lock screen replacement I choose, when I hit the home button ADW recalls the stock lockscreen.
Any replacement I choose is simply laid on top of the stock one, instead of substituting it.

So Executive Assistant is just an app and not a home/lockscreen replacement.
Dunno where to go from here, sorry.

So that's it, then? Is there NOTHING that gives basic missed notifications about calls/texts/emails etc with names on the lockscreen for android that works efficiently or smoothly?? I've searched and searched this forum and the market and even bought and tried widgetlocker with the Missed It! app which seemed to be the closest thing to what I've been searching and it didn't work. I mean, close, but no cigar. It was very inaccurate (said there were missed things when there weren't). Does it have to do with another of apple's f'ing "patents"? I just want to know, if anyone can help out, if this exists or not so I can stop my mindless searching that has been eating up my time for the past 3 days. Thanks all.
Oh, on samsung galaxy s3. at&t but i'm searching all over the forums.

Erm. Where's the home button on the browser?

I hope I'm being blind but I can't see it. Hell I only found out recently that a long press on the back button brings up bookmarks, history and saved web pages.
Someone please tell me I'm being blind.

I could be wrong, but I don't think there's been a home button in stock browser in a long time (if ever).
Im guessing if you open a new window, it will go to your homepage.

That is a massive tip it's been drving me nuts having to scroll to the top.
Yea I don't think there is a home button. I like the Honeycomb browser and the MIUI Siren Browser where the tabs are visible at the top like a desktop browser.
Not quite the home button but you can type a search into the address bar (with a quick flick to bring to life)
Although I can't answer your question, I like to thank you for the tip. Long pressing the back button is a great shortcut to get fast into the bookmark menu!

Home from app drawer?

I'm new to Nova Launcher, and to be honest 3rd party launchers in general. And the only question I have so far while using Nova is that once I'm in my app drawer hitting my home button closes the app drawer and zooms me out to see all screens I have with the option of wallpaper, widget or app to add to a screen. Rather than just taking me to my homepage like the home button does from any other screen.
Is this normal? is there a way to have hitting home from the app drawer just take me to my homepage?
You can turn that off in Nova settings. Its in gesture and inputs

Thanks all, that did it. :good:
Actually, in doing that I lose the option to double tap the home button to bring up those options such as apps, widgets and wallpaper. Looking under gestures though the toggle is on that says "return to default page on first tap, action on second" but there is no thing from the second.
The only time it seems to work as the settings suggest is if you have more than 1 screen. Once I created a blank screen to the right of my default page then it worked as it should. With just one it doesn't.

This is how I have it set. Edit: it works better if you set home button to go to default page
Well my initial problem was fixed by setting the home button to the default screen. However if you have only 1 screen you then lose the ability to add screens and widgets, even if the toggle is 'on' that says double tapping the home button will still give you that option. But once you add a second blank screen that toggle switch enabling the action of double tapping the home button then works. So it has to be a bug, I just don't know if their aware of it or not because I suspect most people use more than 1 screen and have never noticed it doesn't work with 1.

Open Beta 20 Got Rid of Google Assistant

Saying OK, Google opens Voice Search and tapping on google assistant icon opens up Google Search.
What I have tried:
Clearing data and cache for both Google App and Google Services App
Going back to previous versions of Google and Google Services Then updating them
and that's about it
Here's some screenshots:

I have been having this problem for quite a while now. I'm using a rooted stock version with TWRP, Nova launcher. Always get the "can't reach Google at this moment" message.
Like it sucks. I tried literally everything. The beta is fine everywhere else, but the missing google assistant.
I've been having all kinds of issues with Assistant as well. I asked it to "navigate to Michaels craft store" and it just kept asking which Michael from my contacts I wanted to navigate to over and over and over. Kept glitching out till I rebooted and now it only loads the search widget lol.

works here i tried to upload a screen record but wont upload.
Have you guys figured this out at all? I don't understand why no one else is having these issues? It's persisted through all Open Betas thus far. Look at my screenshot. This is the screen I get when I use the assistant shortcut app. It will kind of work if I do say Ok Google but then it just bugs out in all future searches. This is maddening.
Had the problem also in stable. Switched to Beta (clean install) to get rid of it and try out pie, but still the same.
I found out a solution myself
Go to "Phone Settings"
Select "Buttons & Gestures"
Enable toggle for "Quick activate the assistant app"
Go back to home screen and hold the power button for less than a second
This will enable Google Assistant app and you will get the welcome screen
Click "Get started" on the bottom and click the "Agree" button to activate and select the features on next screen
This will solve all the issues. Now you can go back to "Google" app and go to the 2nd tab named "updates"
Don't forget to press the "THANKS" button on this post

[GUIDE] Make a stock "screen off" shortcut that works with Fingerprint/SmartLock

[GUIDE] Make a stock "screen off" shortcut that works with Fingerprint/SmartLock
Hi!
One thing I've always thought that was missing in this phone was a "screen off" shortcut that so many brands currently have.
Third party options have caveats. Using device administrator locks the phone but disables fingerprint or smar lock, using timeout often didn't work well as the black screen sometimes continued to show the status bar or was responsive to touches during the timeout.
This method shuts the screen off as if you pressed the power button using bixby.
To do this:
- Open Bixby - Click the 3 dotted menu - Quick commands - My commands - Click on the plus icon to add a command.
-Name it as you wish in any language, the name you give it here is the name of the shortcut on the home screen.
-Then in what bixby does choose "type a command" and write "Screen off".
- Save it
- Then click the 3 dotted menu in front of the command you've just made and choose Add to Home Screen.
That's it, enjoy!

Great
doubleHome
There's an even easier way to do this and it works anywhere on the phone, not just the launcher shortcut. I've been using this utility called doubleHome from Jawomo since my S8+ days, and it lets me double tap the home button from anywhere to turn off and lock the screen. Just installed it on my new A50, still works great!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-doublehome-double-tap-home-to-off-t3611220
It's no longer on the Play Store or even supported anymore, but the above thread has one of the last versions (v1.30). There was one last update to v1.31, which is the one I've always used since I originally updated it through the Play Store before it was pulled. This last version can easily be found with a Google search.
There are a few miscellaneous options to customize its behavior and some Pro features that were unlockable at one point but no longer. One little "glitch" if you can even call it that, the status bar will stay on for a second or two before turning off like the rest of the screen. This didn't used to happen until Oreo and later, but it's not a big deal at all - actually looks kinda neat.
Give it a try!
This is great!

Question Getting rid of a home screen

Hello
I just bought my op9p, and so far we get along.
On my home page, there's a page with Goggle news and things to the left that I do not want.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I've looked at many settings.
It is symbolized by 3 little lines, like a menu bar, on the home screen.
Thank you

I'm using another launcher for now, but there must be a way to get rid of it.
