Wildfire S WiFi problem! - HTC Wildfire S

I can't seem to connect to my home network on the Wildfire S.
When I turn WiFi on, it shows my home network but I can't connect to it.
I tap 'connect', the window closes, and that's it. WiFi keeps showing 'scanning'.
I'm in India and I'm using a Belkin router.

A friend owns a Wildfire S and says that in his home router, getting out of the room where thw router is, Wildfire loses it's signal! Is it common in W S devices?
Could it be the firmware or a bad router?

Depends, what kind of walls does he have, and doors... do other phones/devices get the signal from the same place ? ...
If no other devices get signal at same place, it's router ?
Otherwise .... well, we will see after you answer

Try using the libril.so file from the latest HTC Stock that you upgraded the radio too. Rename and replace the original libril.so in your CM7x /Sytem/Lib/ folder give the HTC libril.so the same permissions and reboot.
There is a thread on it by me in the general index thread.

Solved by following this thread
I had a similar problem after having flashed an unofficial CM 10.1 on my HTC Wildfire S
Solved it by following the easy steps here

I had the same problem a couple of days ago. The phone kept reconnecting to the router. Now this happened during an arctic blizzard and only for a few minutes. I had the impression it was a temporary hang up in the ADSL modem that made the router "hang" waiting for connection outwards. The problem disappeared by it self so I didn't get around to troubleshooting but I'd probably have tried re-setting the wired connection, re-setting the wi-fi router & then scanning for a new WiFi connection. But, as mentioned above, it is only a guess.

Any solution to this, getting the exact same issue, just been seraching the forum for help, and your thread is the only real one ive found with the same issues.
Was out the country the other day , and in a bar trying to conect to there free wifi,
found the network instantly, just got stuck saying "obtaing address" then after a few mins, changed to network available and the wifi said disconected.
Now im home having the same issues, tho eventually it conected to my home network, i switched off the wifi and on again and just cant get it to conect again!
This is a big issue, as really need the wifi to work.
btw, mines factory 2.2 rom, no rooting etc build no 1.39.110.1
hi,
I have a problem with the wifi connection of my desire hd.
The desire hd shows "connected" status and obtains an ip adress.
But when i try to visit a website, it takes a while and then get an error "server communication failed. try again later"
I already did a factory reset and yesterday i did a rom update to Android 2.2.1
hi
i had same problem with wifi connect
i check connection in system infomation
i saw the connections is UDP not TCP
so every internet connect is error
after i turn off wifi and restart the connect will be ok
this problem start after update 2.2.1
does anybody can help?......
I had a similar issue with my Orange BB Router, where some things would work and others not, and some things very intermittent.
In the end I used my old sky router as the wireless access point and this seemed to solve the problem, so i assume it was a router issue rather than a phone issue. I've not had any problems since.

[SOLVED] How to connect to Wi-Fi with hidden SSID

Hi all,
I have try searching the massive Q&A, but can't find the answer.
Can anyone tell me how to connect to a wifi network with its SSID is hidden (not broadcasted)..?
FYI,
I'm using ROM Oxygen 2.0.1
-----------------
Solution:
1. delete the "remembered" network on device
2. set the router to broadcast the SSID
3. let device acknowledge the network
4. connect to network, and save
5. disable/hidden the SSID broadcast
Reference
hxxp://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1041
(change "x" with "t")
NOTE:
each network may need different steps, depends on the security and broadcast setting
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Go into Wireless and Network settings then press Wi-fi Settings, click on Add WiFi network. You just put the details in a voila.
I've tried it, but it won't connect even if I stand directly in front of the router.
Not sure if it's cause by the Oxygen ROM (AOSP)..
But I cannot find the option such as "connect even if SSID is not broadcasted"..
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I saw a .apk program that was supposed to do it. Not sure how to upload files from Tapa talk.......but it was called "hidden.ssid.enabler.apk" and I got it from the leedroid thread I think about 6 weeks ago.
Sent with Desire.
I have tried the hiddenssid enabler, and wifi connector, but both didn't worked..
Perhaps they don't compatible with GRI40 rom..
But thanks for the suggestions..

The boot.img is also from the same rom and all else works fine . What could be the problem? please someone guide me.

i have had similar issues since moving to official JB and HTC aren't that helpful, just say must factory reset the device and see what happens - have now installed viper 3.3.1 and get the same problem - never had the problem when i was on ics - get full signal - and using wifi analyser also shows full - tried on 2.4ghz and 5ghz - it just wants to stop transferring data - if i disable wifi and reset it then it works fine for a while before no data transfer again
i've even re-configured one of my access points with a different name and set the phone to auto-switch to strongest signal, but that don't work either

i'm still in discussion with HTC on this - i purchased my phone in May 2012 and it wasn't until late June that HTC acknowledged the problem
Some routers will give you a bit of **** when trying to connect to them, had a similar issue when trying to connect to my Belkin N at home and fixed by:
1.Open command prompt on your notebook that is connected to your wireless network and type "ipconfig/all"
2.Make a note of your Default Gateway ie 192.xxx,.x.x
3. On your HOX whilst connected to your wireless network go into settings press on wifi.
3.Long press on your wireless network name.
4.select modify network and select "show advanced options"
5.Make sure "none" is selected in proxy settings.
6.Make sure "static" is selected in ip settings.
7.The default gateway you noted should be entered into IP address on your phone however change the last number so if the last number is 2 change it to a 3 to keep in your routers address range.(Make sure it isnt the same as DNS 2 on your phone)
7.Enter the Default Gateway you noted in gateway on your phone as is.
8.Set network prefix length to 24.
9.In DNS 1 on your phone enter the Default Gateway address you noted as is.
10.In DNS 2 on your phone enter the Default gateway settings you noted however the last number should be changed to the following number so if the number is a 2 change to a 3.
I am having the exact same issue, was having it with ICS too! However i think its router dependant because here in my apartment in finland i get the issue, but back home on my router at home it doesn't happen at all! Its definately not a hardware problem it has something to do with software or configuration. Is there an official bug identified by HTC that we can track or something? Its so annoying having to disable wifi cause you know if you leave it enabled you won't get whatsapp notifications after a while
oh also for the record the same router that my OneX stops sending/receiving data from has no issues with my older desire HD, wifi works on it perfectly
@mathrania, Thank you for opening the thread. i have the same problem of yours and we live in the same city!
@all
I have the same exact problem of the OP's.
WiFi has perfect signal, Perfectly connected but data transfer just does not happen. I need to turn WiFi Off and then ON to get the connection working and then in a minute the problem comes back!
I am running stock JB 4.1.1 and my phone's mother board has been recently changed last week by HTC.
Adding to this JB 4.1.1 does not connect to Enterprise networks which is a well known issue in android 4.1.1 which makes me unable to connect my phone in office... so it's like completely un usable wifi.

I may not completely agree that it is a router issue because i have my nexus 7 which in-fact helped me to identify that my phone suffers a problem.
Even my Sony Xperia Arc works fine..

Yes it definitely is annoying, i too had the same issue with ICS ... but i took it so seriously, it was my nexus 7 which made me realize that i have a problem.. the notifications were there on the N7 and the HOX slept nicely without anything :-/
The service center before replacing my motherboard claimed that it works fine. i would not agree and sent it back, i had an unlocked bootloader and they took special approval to change the motherboard and still the same problem!

Thanks for the advise.. i would definitely love to have a solution for the issue. If i remember correctly i had the problem even on my office network.. in other words, was just wondering if you had the problem in all networks ?
Again to make the issue more clear, the WiFi gets connected, however the data transfer dies in sometime, at the same point of time the signals are clear and strong.
i can be 100% sure that this issue is not the same as the famous manufacturing issue with HTC one X as i got my motherboard replaced last week for the same problem and still face the issue.

i should say that this problem has become more evident after the Jelly bean update. I think back and recollect that this problem was there in ICS but in Jelly bean it is noticeable very easily.
I believe your right that you have a different issue to the infamous grip of life wifi issue.
If you did suffer the grip of life problem you would struggle getting a connection with your/any router, (unless you squeezed your phone) you don't struggle connecting to the router so don't do the "squeeze test" or it could damage the phone further.
I'm no expert with your issue, but if it happens on stock rom then it could be hardware related, but you already know this.
Best of luck and sorry I can't help further.

Thanks, no problems.. i am going to record a video to get the problem across to HTC and our forums for help
pretty sure its not hardware related because it doesn't happen on all routers/networks. If you've only tested it on one or two then try on a couple others and see. for me it only occurs on one or two out of about a dozen wifi networks

[Q] Wifi doesn't work

Hi there,
Today I recognized that my wifi doesn't work. I can switch it on an there is also a massage that there is a wifi network available in the notification center. But if i open settings/wifi the phone writes no wifi networkes available.
My Z1c is rooted (KK .757) and locked bootloader.
Has anybody a idea how I can solve this problem?

This happens to me sometimes, after a restart works for me. May be next update may solve this problem
I've already restarted 3 times but doesn't help.
You can try: 1. restart your router
and 2. delete the settings for your network in your Z1C and make a new registration.
Is the problem solved?
I think no.1 will solve the problem. What a router do you? Many routers can do a automatic restart after flashing DD-WRT or Open WRT. These firmwares are available for the most routers.
greetings
What do you mean with 2.??
I've already tried to restart my router. But I'm pretty sure that the problem isn't the router because I can connect with other devices to the router.
go to settings - WLan and tap long time on your network and delete it.
It does not matter, that other devices can connect to your router.
I had the same problem with a TP-Link router after few days running. A restart helps only.
Delete the network doesn't help too.

For sure you have problem with your router since low cost routers is nothing than an s***t ! I had the same trouble with an low cost router until I come back with an good Dlink DSL2740B router 5 years ago, everything working flawlesly constantly ~5 years, no wifi isues! My sugestion to you is to buy an good home router! I have plan to bye this one http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/connect/routers/dir-880l-ac1900-wifi-router which will work for sure perfectly next 5 years (probably more)!
I've solved the problem already. The problem wasn't the router.
I had to wipe DATA and then my WIFI worked again.
Then I tried to restore a backup what I've made befor but then wifi doesn't work any more.
So there was something buggy with my DATA..

Problem wifi and google play

Hello.
From shortly after I got the phone, in the signal strength icon, I get an x. I can navigate, the wahtsapp works without problems, but I can not download applications from google play. If I restart, there are times when the x disappears and I can download without problems, but after a while it appears again.
With the wifi, at first it worked without problems, but now, it connects but there is no internet.
Any idea why that might be?
Thanks

A. Probably your ISP / router configuration. Check them. In PHL, sometimes our ISP will have problems with internet without acknowledging customers about their problems.
B. Your phone is far away from the router (it will randomly connect briefly and disconnect in long periods if I'm like 8-10m away from the router).
C. Try resetting network from Settings (see pic)

Thanks

Hello,
The 4g always is on. I have enabled/disabled it several times and the problem continues.

Hmm, I guess it's the weakness and having that behavior of connecting WiFi with SD 625, especially our device (daisy_sprout). I've read somewhere on XDA, 4PDA (Russian site) and Mi Forums that after updating it to Android Pie, the WiFi connectivity is not stable, especially when Bluetooth audio turned on.
Hello.
I updated the software from the updates I came in at google play, and for one day I was able to use the wifi without problems, but the next day I did the same thing again.
Looking at the connection, I saw that the mac changes it. In the connection, instead of appearing the mobile mac, I appear another. It doesn't always do that. Now the wifi connects, but there is no internet.
Greetings
Hello.
I figured out why I had the problem. I have an application with which I define which programs can connect to the Internet, and which not, and I did not have an android option activated, which was the one that allowed to connect to the wifi without problems.
Greetings
