[Q] Record sound from external mic? - General Accessories

I have an external mic (called an iRig Mic) that connects to a phone with a headset-jack.
On an iPhone it can be used to record audio when shooting videos, but when i connect it to my Nexus S running android, the sound from the mic is not recorded. Instead the audio from the internal mic i used.
Is there any way to change the audio source when recording videos? This would be a great feature for journalists using their phone as a camcorder for interviews.

Recording audio via 3.5 jack on android using external microphone
You have to buy adapter which will split the signal for microphone in and audio out (you probably know 3.5 jack in your phone is 2 directional as it supports headset with mic)
You can try to look for it on Amazon (headset buddy)
or solder into headset in the pins which are responsible for mic signal.
Then,
I know only 1 app for android which supports recording from external microphone:
Arabela Audio Recorder - choose DEFAULT audio source and it should catch the signal from external mic connected through adapter via 3.5 jack.
I THINK it can catch the audio while recording video because it works in background ... so later you will be able to remove the audio from video recording and join it with the one you recorded using Arabela with some kind of video editor
regards

couple of questions,
for the external mic is it stereo or mono?
any other programs you know that can capture external mic input since this post?
thanks!

[Q] Audio Input?

Hi,
Is there a way to use the Captivate's 3.5mm jack as an audio input jack instead of audio output? I'm wondering if there's a way to use the phone as an audio recorder since it has such a large internal memory

Sure, the earbuds that came with the phone have a mic - you won't get stereo recording, but you can get mono recording.

thanks, but i was actually wondering if there were a way to get stereo recording?
There is only a single audio in line - so unless you can simulate stereo with one input, I don't think so.

Using external microphone when filming

I have managed to get an external microphone to work with my fairphone but only on the voice recorder. It seems to automatically take the audio from true external (radio) mic. I can't get it to work with the video which is crucial for me because I bought the phone to film from a distance y=using the radio mic. Ideas please?
Maybe try a different Video capture APP? Or record audio separately with the voive recorder.

[ Q ] Video recording using External Mic ( stereo )

It's there a way to use the tablet like a high def camcorder as Lollipop supports now USB audio?
- video its great
- audio not really
Purpose is to use mics like Zoom h2n, as a stereo mic for videos recorded with our tab s beasts .
The TRRS workaround its only recording MONO.
The AUDIOFI software I use its only for AUDIO rec.
Need a program that eats video and audio simultaneously.
Any ideas ?

Strange thing with sound recording

I accidentally discovered strange thing while recording the sound via external microphone (the headset that came with the kit) in default recording app and camera app (maybe in other apps too).
That's what it's all about: when i plug the heaset 3.5mm jack in, the message pop up: "External microphone will be used to record audio". Ok. But! The sound can aсtually recording from extenral mic only if you immediately start talking in it, otherwise it will be recording only from internal mic! Is it a bug or feature?
P.S. And the second question, maybe it stupid:
I tried to record sound from Nintendo switch to Galaxy S9 by connecting them via 3.5mm cable (male-male), the sound did not recorded Now i know it was useless, but is safe for both gadgets to connect their 3.5 ports?
