Thanks alot dude. It worked
It formated the SD card and recreated a gold card
also as you advised, I reset the phone to factory reset and then it worked like a charm. Now my device is S-off and ready for rooting. Any idea how to root?
Thanks alot for the help. I appreciate it

Google translate????? And make a account and download recovery

How can i check, if XTC Clip works?
I let somebody make it s-off and i don't know if its done or not.

Boot into bootloader mode by doing power +vol down. When it goes into the bootloader it will say at the top S-Off

Thanks man

I've got the same problem. Every time I follow the procedures to s-off using xclip, my phone simply reboots into Android and the phone is still S-ON. How are you guys doing the factory reset ? I simply did 'clear storage' from the boot menu, but still have the same problem.

You need to disable Fast boot, go to settings, power, deselect fast boot.
Then power down, leave for a minute, then press volume down and power button at the same time, the bootloader should now be visible, go to recovery and select factory reset.
Then go through the xtc process to enable s-off.
Tip:
Make sure you push the cable right the way down into the sim card slot or else you will not s-off the phone.
Also look at the 1st page of this thread for links etc.

thanks, but when I go to recovery I just get a red triangle with an exclamation mark, no option to factory reset.
cheers.

Just try doing the s-off with the xtc clip again, I think it isn't working because you haven't pushed the cable fully into the sin card slot.

man i've tried it 20 times with 2 different cables. Still no joy.

just reboots in android every time.

Very strange, maybe you could give us a step by step of exactly what you are doing.

1. I create the gold card and insert into phone
2. insert ribon cable into clip and insert into sim socket on phone
3. power on clip using usb on laptop
4. power on with vol down, I then get present with hboot, after 10 secs or so its boots by itself and I get 'Get OEMSBL timeout, pls check security flag, pres vold down to exit' - I press vol down
5. Then get 'waiting for GSM ready' after a few seconds I get two options Power=Reflash or Vol dn = DIAG - I select vol down
6. Then goes through TP calibration after which I get two options 'Clean S58 data or device info' - I select power down on Clean S58 data
7. Then get asked to confirm on S58 data a few times by pressing power, then reboots into android after about 5 secs,
8. S-on still.....booooo
Tried both cables

[Q] Stuck on recovery.. Please help

Hi, I have searched everywhere on XDA and on google and couldn't find a solution for my problem.
I wanted to root my device using VISIONary+. When I tried to do the permanent root, it rebooted my phone once, and then black screen, reboot a second time and I get stuck on the recovery screen.
I took out the battery, sd-card and sim, tried again, same result.
If I try to do a wipe (both data/factory reset and cache partition), I end up with the same result.
When I try to "Apply sdcard:update.zip", I get -- Invalid operation. -- and then the same result.
What causes this to happen and how can one fix this?
Oh and on the screen it says: "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"
Android system recovery <3e>
...
Reboot system now
Apply sdcard:update.zip
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
--------
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Did the temp root (which you WILL have done first) work ok? Did you remember to tick the required options?

Thanks for the quick reply!!!
Yes. The the temp root was fine. When I went to do the permanent root, it asked for root access, I selected "allow access" and then my phone rebooted.
Now I'm stuck with a black screen, a phone and a red triangle (Recovery mode).
Racking my brain as this happened to me but was a while ago now.
There is a way to reboot the phone without pulling the battery, some combination of volume button and power button but failing that if you pull out battery the phone should reboot as usual. If you can get it to there double check the Visionary thread to ensure every step is followed.
Sorry, one question I should have asked is what HTC version are you on? You will probably need to downgrade or use the gold card method if it's 1.82+

Even I take the battery out, I still end up back in the recovery mode.
Is this gonna cost me to go to go back to the store and have them fix it for me?
I would love to be able to do it myself.
And yes, I followed every step.
Sorry, it's the software info I need (settings -> About Phone).
I will bet that you're on 1.82+ in which case you will need to create a goldcard (there's a recent thread in the General section on this matter) and downgrade the software first.
That was what I had to do.
Turn the phone off by what ever means then press vol - TOGETHER with the power button (takes you to recovery) then select reboot option there (again, can't remember what the default options are but one should be for rebooting device.

All the help forums require me to be inside android and set it to be HTC sync... Doesn't help much if I can't start android in the first place.
I went to the reboot device, and I'm still stuck... How can I get out of it?
Nothing I own has windows on it thus I did manage to sort this out, when I was in same boat, without windows thus without HTC Sync. I just needed a windows machine (work) to create the gold card.
I am almost certain that I could get the phone to reboot after getting to the same stage using the volume buttons and power button from the red triangle screen (sure it was vol+ And power button (press vol+ first). You should then see a new menu.

I can access the menu. It's vol+ first, and then power button. As I said in the first post, I am presented with 4 menu items. None of them is helping me.
Is there a way to flash from recovery mode, etc? Or do I have to go back to the store and have them fix this for me?
Even I create the gold card, I can't do anything in recovery mode. I need to get out of recovery mode first.
I've googled some more, and I found that you can recover using backup.zip, but I like I said, I get "-- Invalid operation. --".
Sorry, I need to go out for a few hours.

Htc desire z stuck - please help

hi, my desire z crashed during a upgrade 2 days ago and not its stuck on the htc green logo page. I've read a little and i can get to the S-On page and get to the boot loader etc (factory restore does nothing).
Am i right thinking if i get the UK rom i can place it on the sd card, and then turn the phone back on by holding down Volume Down and Power until the bootloader screen comes up. It should then automatically find the rom file and ask you if i want to update the phone, select yes and wait for it to finish updating and Click reboot??
Please any help would be appreciated as I'm lost without my mob

then recovery works
re
does it have to be a uk tmobile recovery or any recovery for a htc desire z?
The fone is stuck on the HTC logo screen but i can get to the HBOOT and have the following:

FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
*FASTBOOT brings up: bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader and power down
*RECOVERY goes to the HTC logo page > black page with green circle> vibrates 7 times and goes off.
*FACTORY RESET just doesnt do anything
I have never rooted my fone and am not 100% how to but am willing to if it gets my fone back up. Any advise will be appreciated as i cant afford a new mobile right now and htc are not repairing it.

My DZ was running stock rom, not rooted and one day it just stopped working! My data somehow became really sluggish and I had to reboot, but it wouldn't go past the Vodafone splash screen afterwards, had to do battery pull. After that it will only boot to the white screen with just HTC on it, without the Quietly Brilliant. Tried to factory reset but nothing works.
Since it was still under warranty, I can't be bothered and sent it back for repairs. Guess what, they can't fix it, probably dead eMMC chip or mobo from what I read from this & other forums.

Sons HTC Desire HD stuck on white HTC Screen, Can Get into Bootloader HELP PLEASE

Hi, my son has just infromed me that his HTC DESIRE HD is stuck on the HTC white startup screen, if you take the battery out & put it back in & hold the volume key when pressing the on button you do get in to the Bootloader (i think its called that) screen but we cant go any further. The phone has been hacked & has a custom rom installed on it but he cant remember with one.
If someone could explain what i need to do to get it working again i would be very gratefull & not worried what rom goes onit.
Thanks All

Read post#7, it should have everything you need to know. If you have any questions just post them there since this is the development section.
Sent from a dream.
Insert a ROM into the SD Card! Go to the recovery through the bootloader. Full wipe and flash the new ROM! Tada
Sent from my Desire HD from Outer Space!!!
If you can get into the bootloader and the phone was on the stock ROM, you can pretty much reset it through the bootloader itself.
1. Reboot into Bootloader(Yes, the white screen with colorful text and options) by holding the Vol Down key while pressing the power button.
2. Navigate to the "Bootloader" option in that screen(Navigation can be done by pressing the Vol up/down keys) and select it(by pressing the power button).
3. You should see a screen with options like "Fastboot", "Recovery", etc.. Navigate to the "Factory Reset" option and select it by pressing the power button. Your phone should reset to factory setting and work fine(if it was on a stock ROM).
If it still doesn't work and you can get past the splashscreen into the bootanimation, I'm pretty sure you can flash an RUU. Its an executable file that installs the stock ROM on the phone. Get the appropriate one according to your region and carrier from here : http://www.filefactory.com/f/efa28fefafc4af9c/
Start your phone, connect it to pc via cable. Make sure you have HTC Sync installed on your pc and then run the executable RUU on the PC. The rest I think you'll be able to manage via on-screen instructions.
Hope you solve your problem.
Oh and yeah this is not the correct section though.. Please request the moderator to move it to the Q&A or the General Section. Helps keep the forum organized.
Responsibility
To be honest, if your son is old enough to have a smartphone and smart enough with a computer to unlock a locked boot loader, he should be able to use Google
If I was him, I would Google "unbrick desire HD" if i was stuck, but I think he could fix it by loading a ROM, maybe jelly time, that's a nice stableish ROM, onto the sdcard and try rebooting recovery by doing the power volume button combo. If he is in able to reboot recovery, only boot loader, he could try using the fast boot commands from the android SDK. If he doesn't know what they are, he shouldn't have rooted his phone, I don't recommend rooting unless you know what each piece of software you install on PC or android does.
I've had this issue as well when I installed a rom with a wrong md5 hash. It also wiped the recovery which was strange. Finally I got it working by placing the PD98IMG file on my sd card which it automatically installs when you go the bootloader. So that might fix it.

^^this^^… really though, if you're stuck, try getting into recovery from the bootloader... if he rooted his phone then more than likely he has a custom recovery installed, such as clockworkmod, twrp, 4ext, etc... from there he can flash a new ROM, wipe his device of the one causing problems, etc... just follow on screen instructions. If he doesn't have a nandroid backup made (or any kind of backup you can restore from whatsoever) then just wipe everything and install JellyTime... download the latest release (a .zip file) from the thread (search DHD, JellyTime)... transfer onto his SD card, use the custom recovery to install from the SD card, and there ya go...

ok, Just follow what Teichopsia said. Ignore the rest of the comments as they only troll and won´t solve your issue. The main thing to know is how the phone was hacked. In bootloader, in the top left corner you see something like ACE PVT.....just find if you are S-OFF or S-ON.
If you are S-ON, then tell me if it says *UNLOCKED* in the top. That will determine how you can sort your issue out. Follow the post Teichopsia suggested and you will be fine. If you have any doubts or get stuck just post your questions in that thread.

Thanks All

Go into HTC inspire general. First thread click it. Read it follow it. I had to do this. I tried the first step. It didn't work for me. I had to do the last step. Which was run a RUU. Once I did that my phone was back up in 5 minutes

via a card reader if you have access to one, or any device you can connect to a pc that will show card contents, that you can write to and from.

Ok, just to be sure... Did you check the md5 sum on the JellyTime-R10 zip to make sure it downloaded correctly?
And when flashing the ROM, did you follow the instructions exactly in post #7 on the procedure thread you followed to root (flashing the boot.img separately)?
If you did both of those, try downloading a different ROM and flashing it, just to see if you can get it to work. If not, try going through the root process again step by step and make sure you didn't miss anything... At this point, you make also want to consider going through one of the guides to manually s-off after unlocking with htcdev, since flashing ROMs is easier if you're s-off.

Is there any fix for our bootloop?

I purchased my son the Droid Inc on EBay and all was well for about a week and he said it would reboot randomly often and then a couple days ago it started the boot loop but it only goes to the white boot screen with the Droid Inc screen and reboots over and over.
I do not have the phone with me at the moment but it is fully stock with S-on and I tried recovery and everything I have read here but it just goes back to bootlooping. I have been lurking around XDA for quite some time trying to educate myself but have never rooted or installed any ROMs, I am a total noob and I really enjoy reading XDA and I am a android fanatic and keep up on all the news and equipment daily.
I currently have a Maxx which I received for a replacement for my Rezound which I went through 7 of them because of various issues such as the temperature reaching upwards of 138 degrees and bootloops and other issues and I eventually had enough and insisted on a comparable replacement and they sent me a droid inc 4g first and I was not happy just seeing how small the screen was and the internal storage being only 8gb so I had them give me something else so ended with the maxx.
Anyway, I really envy all the knowledge everyone here has and hope to learn how to do all this eventually.
Is there anyone who knows if there's a fix for the bootloop issue, and if so I would greatly appreciate the help and any direction which I may be lead. I am looking forward to any answers available.
Also this is my first post so I hope I put this in the correct place. Thank you in advance!!

You can try a factory reset from the hboot menu. To get to hboot pull the battery, reinsert, and hold vol down and power till a white screen appears (hboot). From there select factory reset. If that dosent solve the issue, you will need to do an ruu. Download this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip, and place it on your sdcard in no folders. Then boot to hboot as described earlier. Hboot should automaticly find the file and prompt you to press vol up to install. When its done press vol up again to reboot. That should fix your issues. Note that either one of these options will wipe all the data on the phone.
Thanks a Bunch! I did try the factory reset from hboot and that did not work so I will be trying the alternative method later. I will let you know if it works and if i have any other questions. Once again Thanks for the help and it is greatly appreciated!

I pulled my sd card before bed and let it do it's thing at 2 am. That fixed it for me. Never did it again after that night. Worked for some other people as well. My phone had been booting every night for weeks before I tried this. Not since. Just put sd card back in in the morning and should be good to go.

I did the ruu as your instructions stated and it went through the install and all seemed well, after it installed it asked if I wanted to reboot and i said yes and it went right back to the bootloop, going through just the white Droid incredible screen over and over. at the top of Hboot it says:

Not sure if this helps but if there is something else that might work it would be greatly appreciated. Do I need to root the phone for this to work and if so where could I find those instructions? Thank you for your time and I hope there is a possible fix.
One more question, I added it to the card which it had other files on. would it matter if I re formated the card and had just hat file in it?

I would backup the sdcard to your pc, format it fat32, and try again with just the PB31IMG.zip file on there. It really shouldnt matter but its worth a try.
If it still dosent work, your next step would be to try to root. You will need to go to http://htcdev.com/bootloader and unlock the bootloader skipping the ruu/hboot update part as you are already on the newest ublockable one. You can use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506258, following steps 1 thru 21. Or this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600904 following steps 1 thru 3. Both do the same thing just wrote up a little differently. Once you get that, post back and i will tell you what to do from there unless you already know.
Sounds good, I will be doing that later and I will keep you posted!

I have not had time to attempt the root up until now and I totally forgot to backup the memory card before formatting it. Is that a problem? There is no important personal information that I needed on it but was there anything else which I needed to save? I hope not! I registered on htcdev and I am ready to unlock the bootloader but before going any farther I just want to make sure there is nothing else I need that may have been on the memory card prior to reformatting?

Hi,
Had same problem.... HTC Incredible
Found this....
youtube /watch?v=sCdTmE-OpAs
worked for me....
Hold volume button, then press power button quickly.
Displays Menu.
Select Clear Storage.
Reboot phone.
As far as I could decipher.... and I'm probably wrong...
It has something to do with email attachments and an errant update. They also indicated it was a Verizon issue.
Since I use Verizon I could not chase that info down for validity.
Hope this helps...

Hello,
I know this thread is old, but I still use my droidinc as an ip camera at home and it is still my backup phone if my current phone fails. The other night it went into an endless rebooting cycle where it never gets past the first HTC screen. This is what my hboot screen has:

I've tried removing the batter, the sd card, clearing storage, and factory reset with none of them working.
Then I tried formatting the sdcard in the fat 32 and then putting just the PB31IMG.zip file there and the booting hboot, but nothing happened. So I tried to begin the process of rooting my phone by following the instructions above. I wasn't sure if I needed the ruu/hboot update since I believe my phone is up-to-date before it crashed. I followed the first guide you listed, but when I get to this page: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install, I am unable to complete the steps. The Android device briefly shows under the Other tab, but then windows finds the driver software for it and it becomes listed as HTC Serial Interface (COM3) under the Ports (COM & LPT) tab which is not what the instructions show. So I'm lost on what to do. I'm also a noob so I apologize for that in advance.

I decided to try to PB31IMG.zip file one more time. This time it actually tried to load the file when I went into HBOOT, then I got this message:
Parsing...[SD ZIP]

[3] RECOVERY - OK
[4] SYSTEM - OK
[5] SFLAHS1 - OK

Do you want to reboot the device?
<VOL UP> Yes
<VOL DOWN> No
So I rebooted the device, and it still is in the reboot loop
ok, i have here a droid inc, unlocked bootloader and cwm recovery installed (a phone I rooted for a buddy, and idfk what he did to it) AND i have a recovery.img for it even. but the phone wont mount either internal or external drives. How do you flash it solely on pc? I also have the original Unlock code.bin file if that helps any...

umm...that seems to be a corrupted emmc chip. But before conclusions flash a ruu in fastboot.
You are not S-OFF and therefore don´t have custom recovery. Have you unlock the bootloader?

bootloader not unlocked, and I tried to do a flash from FastBoot but always appears an error that is not appropriate rom (I tried several versions of the factory ROMs)
Hmm.. it seems you are stuck. Only thing I can think of is to maybe try and flash a P98IMG (have I spelt oy right? Glevitan, help?) and see what that does. Only other thing would be to put in in the bootloader, flash an RUU and root. Other than that O can't think of anything..
