Locus - Another GPS and mapping App (Free)

Death Worm - An old game I used to play on the PC ported to Android, and it works pretty well. PAID
Words with Friends - There is nothing I enjoy more than schooling my friends with my near encyclopedic knowledge of English. Sure, there are better scrabble apps out there, but this is the only cross-platform one. FREE

Business man here, I use these daily.
CamScanner - It works like this, you take a photo using your phone's camera of any document, business card etc. and it will automatically optimize the image i.e. sharpness, contrast as if it were scanned on a scanner, it will then convert it to a .pdf file you can email. Say goodbye to fax machines!
Smooth Calendar - A widget that displays your next 3-5 calendar events. I stick it on my homescreen.

Let me please rephrase myself. I meant when someone states an app they use, put a "what it does" beside it.
Example:
Sirius App - Sirius Satellite Radio app allowing you to listen to Satellite Radio.

List of "good" apps

My list from a few other threads, but very relevant here since everyone is probably wondering what "app" to get.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnAJoa0-ynONdGJiVDRSQ0p4VGtCaklESmtEbkJzNUE
edit: you guys can add to it ^_^
Great list, a few I couldn't live without:
Badass Battery, 4.7
Mobi Calculator, 4.8
FX File Explorer, 4.7
N7 Player, 4.7
Gtasks, 4.5
DIGI Clock Widget, 4.6
Palmary Weather, 4.5
GasBuddy, 4.6
YouAreHere, 4.7
Navfree, 3.8
Widgetsoid2, 4.6
I've found some of the widgets by this dev are excellent and he supports them very well if you mail him.
The Pure Grid calendar widget has options for tablet size widgets, multiple calendars, colour coding etc.
Also imho HDR Camera+ should be up there with ZoomFX
OP - amazing list!
That is a very clean and comprehensive list of apps you have OP. Thanks for posting... I am definitely going to try some of them out.

Here's my Android tablet list of "best of breed" apps:
GTasks - syncs with Google Notes, has reminders, great widgets. Augments my calendar for many things. Free.
Dark Knight - good tablet chess app. Free+no ads.
AndroXplorer - first-rate file explorer with CIFS support. Free (minor advert), but I bought Pro with my Play credit. Better than all the others I've tried and has proper tablet interface.
SuperSU - fine-grained control of root permissions. Free+no ads, Pro has some sweet features, bought it.
AdAway - prevents ads from even downloading. Probably the biggest performance booster you can get. Free, no ads. This is one of the killer apps that will hook you on Android.
System Tuner - you won't believe the crap that starts up automatically. Fix it with this free app (minor ads). Pro is worth it.
AnkiDroid - Can't believe it's free w/o ads. Flashcards app to study nearly anything, many study decks available. Better than the $25 Anki iPad app which I bought.
Cool Reader - ebook reader, lots of useful features. Free and ad-free.
Aldiko Pro - slick reader, works with most formats, worth the $3.
Apps I'd like but which don't work yet:
Moon+ Reader (incl Pro) is broken on Jelly Bean, doesn't show text. When it works I'll buy Pro again.
Encore Learning Platform - free, no-ads, flashcards app.
If I could have clicked the "Thanks" icon 10 times for supplying us with this great database I would have. But I couldn't so THANK YOU X 10!

So, for some reason I can only pull this doc up at work. Now my problem is I can see where it's seperated into sections, but the apps aren't organized into their respective sections, they are in alphabetical order. What am I doing wrong?

(UPDATING)Must Have Apps, Games & Widgets For Galaxy SII

Hiya everyone. This type of thread isn't new to XDA as it's on almost every device fora, but I decided to bring it over here aswell.
I'm going to share the most useful applications I have on my S2 and would like you to share more must have apps to add to this list.
Check out post #2 for some of the best games on Android and check out post #3 for some of the best widgets we can use.
1. Power Toggles - This is simply the best toggle app around. Able to toggle lots of main features.
2. Picsay Pro - This is a brilliant photo editor, but limited compared to some others. My personal favourite.
3. Rotation Locker - WYSIWYG. It locks your screen to either Portrait or Landscape. Really useful on some apps.
4. XDA App ICS Blue Colours/Themed - Our favourite forum app but with a complete red or blue colour theme thanks to our own Whiskey103

IF YOU'VE FOUND THIS POST, OR ANY OF THESE APPS USEFUL, BE SURE TO HIT THE THANKS BUTTON!
If you know any unique or useful applications, games or widgets please suggest them in this thread so I can check them out. If I think they're good, I'll add them to the list.
*NOTE* - If you wish to know what the best app is regarding your needs, ask in this thread and I, or others, will be able to help you out.
So, if you want to know what the best music player is, ask here and I'll suggest the best ones available.
If there are any apps that you feel shouldn't be in this list, please let me know and suggest a better one. I can then test it and maybe add it to the list, in place of the other one.
If you don't suggest a better app, I won't change anything.
[INFO]Must Have Apps For Galaxy SII
The idea to add widgets into this thread aswell was an idea taken from Goku80 and I hope you lot like it.
So, the list in this post is strictly for widgets. I'll add some widgets myself as a base, but as always feel free to suggest some of your favorite widgets and they may make it into this list.
1. Beautiful Widgets - Beautiful set of Widgets containing clock widget, clock and weather widget, weather widgets, date widgets and toggle widgets with skins/themes support!
2. Fancy Widgets - Personalize your Android home screen with highly customizable clock widgets, weather widgets, home (clock & weather) widgets, forecast widgets, and more with lots of customization options.
3. Ultimate custom widget (UCCW) - If you enjoy customizing the look of your homescreen then this is pretty much a MUST HAVE app for you. It allows the user to create their own pure custom clocks with a near endless array of options to customize it how they'd like. However you want it, you can make it with UCCW.
4. Desktop VisualizeR - Here's another really useful widget if you love to customize your screens. This gives you the ability to make shortcuts and widgets with any image you specify, rather than just the default logos. You can also use this app to give apps a custom icon of your own, which is handy if your icon design doesn't currently exist.
5. Minimalistic Text - Minimalistic Text is a widget app that displays information in a minimalistic way. It can be configured to display time, date, battery and weather information. The layout of the widget is highly customizable throughout.
6. Eye In The Sky Weather - This is for all those who like their weather clean, simple and beautiful. The app includes 12 of the best weather icon sets and the ability to add your own icon sets.
[INFO]Must Have Apps For Galaxy SII
Due to popular demand via PMs, I've decided to add a slot to this thread to display some of the best games we can get on our Android device.
As with the app list above, if there's a great game you'd like to be added to this list, let me know and I may well add it in
1. Pool Break Lite - If you like to play pool, snooker, billiards etc. on the go then this is a great app you. There are a few different variations to play in either single player or multiplayer online mode and even more variations if you buy the pro version.
2. FIFA 12 - This game speaks for itself. It's the latest mobile version of the FIFA franchise and is easily the best so far, with it showing vast improvements. There's a load of different cups and leagues to play through and with great graphics with no lag in the slightest.
3. World Series Of Poker - Probably the best game from EA (in my opinion). If you like to play poker I totally recommend this game. You can play Texas Holdem and Omaha in either cash games, tournaments or play for a WSOP bracelet as the main prize. Guest mode is now available for no login from Facebook is needed.
4. iAssociate2 - This is a good choice if you prefer a bit of a brain tester. iAssociate2 is a word association game you have to figure out which words and phrases are associated to each other. Sound easy? Give it a try and you can soon find out differently.
5. Need For Speed Most Wanted - Another brilliant addition to the EA family, Most Wanted finally brings one of the best racing experiences to Android. It's a brilliant game all round but the only thing it's lacking, in my opinion, is 'free roam' mode. But apart from that, it brings brilliant graphics and flawless gameplay.
6. Grand Theft Auto III - Grand Theft Auto III was a crime game which changed the future of gaming and is amazing to play on the go with our Androids. The full console game with great graphics, full features and surprisingly no lag considering it's such a huge game. Countless hours of gameplay, HD quality resolution and visually stunning graphics make this a must for our devices.
thanks that was i time saver

Anyone got any suggestions for a gallery app? I don't mind the default gallery, but it would be good to see what else is out there.

I think I'll stick with Quickpic then cause it's definitely one of the more popular ones and does the job great.

ROM Toolbox Pro has been added to the list. It's a brilliant app and a definite must have for any root user.
It combines Titanium Backup, ROM manager, root explorer and others, all into one app. All that for the cheap price of £1.90

Apps you must install on N7!

I have been playing with my N7 for a few weeks now and have just rooted it ( after realizing my cable wasn't fully pushed in after an hour of banging my head on brick wall).
Forgetting Facebook, G+, Twitter & Games what are the must have apps that should be downloaded to show off the N7.
I am thinking wi-fi killa, Pulse and any other apps that are truly used daily and really have the wow factor on the N7.
Thanks in advance for all the help I have got before joining the site.

Granny Smith is such an odd game. On paper you'd never think you'd like it but I've honestly replayed the entire game 4 times and counting now.. The replay ability is fantastic..
Whatsapp - Obviously this has to be side loaded but its so much better than on a phone!
... well, I've got an 8GB; so I figure that the most crucial apps to me would be the cloud ones (i.e., Google Drive @ 5GB free, SkyCloud @ 7GB free, Dropbox @ 3GB, and the pre-installed Google Play Music @ 20,000 songs free...)
As a perk, GrooVeIP Free (tablet to phone) is a true Wi-Fi Calling experience on top of the Google Voice app.

Because Gameloft tend not to optimise for Tegra 3 devices and most of their games are laggy. I've got a few Gameloft games and the main culprit of an unoptimized game is Amazing Spider-Man! Incredibly laggy. But some others work fine (for me at least), like Where's Wally Now, Asphalt Urban 7...

LG Optimus G Recommended apps [Last update: 2013-12-30]

Hello. I had very much problems with apps. I didn't know which is better and which is really usable. So I will try to help you with apps - this is list of the best apps:
Apps for all users
Everything for browsing:
Browsers:
1. Boat Browser: I think it's the best browser and I'm using it right now - it is really fast, faster than Opera Mobile, Dolphin or Chrome! Supports almost everything, has some themes and add-ons. Also, it has nice speed dial.
2. Opera Mini: Browser that will help you save some data, but it doesn't support flash, backround JavaScript and etc.
3. Skyfire: An alternative browser with flash support, but quite slow.
4. Dolphin Browser: Quite fast browser. This one is very customizable and it has very much Add-ons, themes and etc.
5. Dolphin Browser® Mini: Something between Opera Mini and Dolphin browser HD. This browser is slower than Opera Mini, but faster than Dolphin HD. Also it is more customizable than Opera Mini, but not as customizable as Dolphin HD.
Social:
1. Facebook: If you are using Facebook you must have it.
2. Community Reader by Tapatalk 4: For going to the forums like this.

Other apps for better browsing experience:

Customizing:
Launchers:
1. Go Launcher EX: I think it's the best Launcher. Many functions (I think the best is folders in app drawer, or hiding apps in app drawer), many themes. But it eats more RAM than other launchers.
2. Launcher Pro: This launcher is very fast, but not as customizable as Go Launcher. But if you want the best performance you shuold use this launcher.
3. Swapps!: This is a side launcher that is always there, when you play, read or listen. Just swipe and switch to another app. Good for heavy multitasking users.
Homescreen:
1. Fancy widgets: The best free app for widgets (like HTC style clock and etc.).
2. Beatiful Widgets: The best of the best widgets app. Simple and beautiful widgets. Pro version has more functionality, but costs.

I bought a LG Optimus G so I'm ready to support this thread again.
Moved it from Galaxy Mini forum and now I'm updating the list,
because all these apps that you see now are a bit old and this list
was dedicated to Galaxy Mini forum, not to the Optimus G forum,
so all these games are really low graphics and apps can
be old or something. So, I'm starting updating this list, don't worry
guys, don't worry.

Power Toggles - added.
ADW Widgets - couldn't find this one.
MTG 2014 - I don't know why, but I even didn't donwload this. I think their presentation is bad. If even presentation bad, game probably is not really good too. Sorry dude.

Swiftkey - already here.
Proxydroid - Not added, I must to try at first.
Chomp sms - not really. Yep, it's faster than Handcent or Go SMS Pro. But it's much more disgusting than Go SMS Pro. When you have such as fast device as ours - speed of app doesn't matters very much. Go SMS is simple, beautiful and I love it. I couldn't say this about Chomp. It still needs some improvements on look.
Aviary - I love it, much better than PicSay.
Swapps - added. Reminds me Ubuntu Unity .
Network Monitor Mini - added.
App backup & restore - I think Titanium Backup is enough for everyone . So - not, I won't add this one.
Water Logic - added. Really good one, if you like logical games .

I just play the real MTG Card Game though, that's why I suggested it. For the ADW, it's APW or Android Pro Widgets. It is really useful to me.
why chainfire 3D? i thought it bricks your device on 4.0+?

Add Real Racing 3 in racing games. Very addictive, played it for 60 hours until now
Also ES Explorer is great and in my opinion better than Astro since ver 3.
