[24.JUN][DEV ONLY]Telus HTC Desire HD OTA 2.3[SENSE] - HD2 Android NAND Development

Just released
Source: http://www.unwiredview.com/2011/06/...droid-2-3-gingerbread-update-now-rolling-out/
http://www.multiupload.com/EDWCXFPKAL
DO NOT TRY TO FLASH THIS TO YOUR HD2!!!!

Do you maybe mean this is Desire? Not the HD? Because the filename doesnt sound like its the HD (gb s = I dont know so maybe it is HD). If it is HD, I dont think this is any different from what we have now?
If its really desire, then OMG! This would be Christmas in the middle of the year! No more graphic bugs and no more overall lagging/incompleteness. Nice find, I do hope its the desire source!
Thanks
(And 100MB? Thats pretty small for HD I think...for sense even, IDK.)

Desire gingerbread is coming!
The Gingerbread Desire rom is coming very soon!!!
At a dutch site this was announced after an earlier news bulletin which told it was canceled:
original Dutch version:
http://tweakers.net/nieuws/75145/update-htc-desire-begint-volgende-week.html
http://tweakers.net/nieuws/75073/htc-schrapt-beloofde-gingerbread-update-desire-niet-update.html
Translated version:

http://translate.google.nl/translat...rbread-update-desire-niet-update.html&act=url
I thought it wouldn't be sense 3.0 because htc claims it doesn't perform on the Desire serie including the desire HD.
Also the gingerbread Desire HD has been released for some months ago.

We didn't need the Desire GB rom, we need the kernel source of the Desire Gingerbread kernel to fix the graphics and camcorder problems (imilka post). We have enough Desire HD GB rom's.
Look at http://developer.htc.com/ and wait for a new entry "HTC Desire - GB -2.6.35 kernel source code". When HTC release the Desire update, they have to publish the needed kernel source.

HTC originally said they weren't going to give the desire a gb update, but the retracted that post and said they will be doing it soon. Which means the source code will be out soon

The DESIRE HD IS THE WRONG PHONE! WE DO NOT HAVE A HD PHONE! WHEN THE ORIGINAL DESIRE COMES OUT WITH THE GB UPDATE, WE CAN ALL JUMP FOR JOY!
CLOSE THIS THREAD MODS

so none of the variations of Desire (ie HTC Desire S or Z) would work either?.....jus wondering lol

No, they have different hardware than our phone. The DESIRE, NOTHING ELSE, just PLAIN old DESIRE will work perfect for our phones. But ANYTHING else, WILL NOT WORK.
They need to sticky this one sentence. Let everyone know that the original desire is what we need. They ARE in progress to release as everyone keeps saying.

Great, now we have even more misinformation... ^^
You should edit your post to say "The Desire source is what we need to get everything working perfectly on our phones. Everything else will work but just not that well. "
Hell, we even got the sensation/kingdom roms ported on the h2d, so I don't see what you remotely mean by "No, they have different hardware than our phone. The DESIRE, NOTHING ELSE, just PLAIN old DESIRE will work perfect for our phones. But ANYTHING else, WILL NOT WORK."

What crack are you on?
Yeah Desire is good for porting to HD2 but its by no means the "only" device that will work.

Obviously others work, I am not blind....we are using them.
Im saying
For REAL working files/roms, we need the desire release, I assumed (which I was obviously dumb for) everyone reading it knew I meant the source, what we have ALL been waiting on. Graphical bugs and probably performance issues because of that plus other 'closer' related phone code can be used.
We (the devs - not me) are using patched code/files that are working but will work better once we get the desire release. All I was saying was this is for the desire hd, and we need the desire release. Its known we need that. What the hell do you mean these other work? They do but are not working as WELL as they CAN be. Lets wait for the release then discus. Either way, this should still be close its irrelevant.
EDIT: And YOU didnt even read the thread. If you read who I was reponding to, he knew we were talking about this 'perfecting' our phone with the source, and asked if any other 'source' would work. I responded. Read before accusing next time

Desire HD/Z Port camera error. Need help fixing camera.

So as everyone know there is a problem with the camera on htc desireHD and desire Z ports, so please who have an idea or knowledge of making drivers, help us. We will very thankful.

Hmmmmm. It seems like everyone already knows this. Now there's another thread too. Awesome.
We are in need of new ideas and knowledge of making drivers to fix it, i think.
heh.....bascally this is the show stoppers for these ROMs...
It's amazing how very few people seem to care about the new sense roms, their is almost no interest at all, i think everyone is waiting for the official one from htc because of the fewer bugs? I think what leedroid said about the the roms not being the final builds has also got alot to do with the fact that very few devs are working on getting the camera sorted, maybe we should remind everyone how long the official froyo update took!

My only problem with the new sense is that I don't to put part of the system on my sd card. If a rom can install fully on internal memory then I'll use it without thinking.

there have been conflicting reports about this
but from what can be read in HTC statements, they most likely wont port it to Desire or older HTC models
considering all of those mobiles have lower memory, even HTC would need to struggle to port those large ROMs to older devices (and i doubt they would release ROM which required to be installed on SD card and not on the internal phone memory..)
I checked lib, bin and other files which contain "cam" in name in HD ROM and old Desire ROM, and all of these are almost the same size. So changing it won't do anything with camera.
Moved to Q&A as not development.
This is a know issue everyone's aware of and the devs are working on afaik.

[Q] Any chance of a Desire S port?

Hello,
Since the Desire S is now out, running gingerbread with sense, is there any chance we might see a Gingerbread/sense rom for the normal Desire soon?
It seems to be possible to port rom's from the Desire HD, although I never understood what the advantage of that would be.

Read the rules, the 1st one is SEARCH BEFORE POSTING.
Not only has this been discussed, but there already are such ports, 2 or 3 to be more specific. Go find them yourself, that's what the search button is for.
To add to the story, the official Desire GB will come out in a week or two,so why bother with AceS rom's anyway...they're rubbish.

GB for Desire/Bravo with Sense 3.0

i just got response from htc regarding my question will GB update for Desire/Bravo contain Sense 3.0...this is what they sent me:
Thank you for contacting HTC.
In regards to your enquiry, kindly note that the 2.3 gingerbread upgrade has not been released for the Desire phone yet, but it will be relased soon.
kindly note that that the upgrade will include the new HTC Sense 3.0.
Wow! that's really great!
So they are suggesting that the leaked Rom was a very early test build and not close to final.hmm
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I highly doubt this.
If it would contain a Sense upgrade, it would be 2.1, but certainly not 3.0
First of all, the hardware of the Desire isnt capable of running Sense 3.0 without a bunch of hacks (see custom roms) and secondly, it would affect sales on their newer devices.
Also see:

I also find this highly unlikely.
Why would HTC want to update what is an end of life device with their latest sense version?
It doesn't make sense (excuse the pun).
From a commercial point of view, if they did that, they would be shooting themselves in the foot, and I don't think they are that stupid.

Imo they would be stupid if they do not provide updates. I will never buy a Samsung smartphone again just because of that...
Apple always provides latest updates for their phones and that is a good thing.

HTC is anything but stupid. Look at the way they market discriminate their products, adding and subtracting bits and pieces here and there. What they can't do is stop unofficial development, hence the upcoming invite to developers to contribute to making their products more "desirable".
Here's an idea: why pay for r & d when you can get it for free?
i just got another reply from HTC, it looks like they were to hasty with the first answer:
"In regards to your enquiry before, about the HTC sense version 3.0 with the 2.3 gingerbread update for the HTC Desire phone.
I do apologize for contacting you again, but I have just received an update from HTC, that the Desire phone will receive the 2.3 gingerbread upgrade/update soon. However unfortunately, there is no confirmation yet in regards whether the updated Desire phone will have the new sense version 3.0 or not.
I really do apologize for the inconvinience."
looks like the modders here on XDA will still have something to work on... but, fingers crossed....

I think u will get an other reply that will say "unfortunally htc said the update will have sense 1.9"
We can just hope for sense 2.1, we will never get sense 3.0 officially, of course not now already..
HTC seemed to plainly say awhile back that no phone other than dual cores (being Sensation and Evo 3D) will get sense 3.0 going forward....
So I still think the best you can hope for is 2.1
No we will get sense 2.1for sure cause 2 ppl from Netherlands sent an email to HTC and told them that gb will roll out with 2.1

Hello everyone!
I just chatted with someone from HTC [HTC.com]

Please wait while we find an agent you are now connected helpen.U Dries.Dries: Hi Nick, thanks for contacting customer support from HTC. Currently I am here to read your question.
Nick: Good morning
Nick: Okay
Dries: What is meant exactly with your question?
Nick: I have a Desire
Nick: but I read some rumors about an update end of May
Nick: but I would like to clarify
Nick: And some say there is in sense or sense 3.0 2.1
Nick: So I thought I take a minute contact
Nick: Because I mean the HTC Wildfire S has the same memory as RAM and ROM which has Sense 2.1, so I thought why would not the normal Desire
Dries: I ask a moment. Please be patient if you please
Nick: Okay I wait
Dries: It comes with Sense 2.1
Nick: Wow I'm really happy!
Nick: And you also know when it comes around?
Dries: Unfortunately I can not say exactly when it will roll out this update, but was soon to begin.
Nick: Okay so before July?
Dries: I can assure you unfortunately.
Nick: Okay, because the earlier leaked test builds gingerbread still had a 1.9 older sense, but I am glad that my desire so with a recent version of sense comes
Dries: I understand that.
Nick: Well I know just enough until now
Nick: Thanks a lot for everything!
Dries: That is welcome. I can today somewhere else help?
Nick: Oh no it is enough
Nick: I wish you a nice day!
Dries: Thank you for contacting, I wish you a nice day.

EDIT: im going to ask again for confirmation hahaha just to be sure (A), PS: the chatting is so funny lol..
Sorry to say this, but he probably mixed the desire with the desire HD, a regular mixup from HTC customer service rep's.
All indicates that the Desire is getting a modified Sense 1.9 update, with bits from the 2.0 Sense that came with the Desire HD release.
(ref the leaked test rom)
I refuse to jump with joy before I can see this with my own eyes ;-)

perhaps suggest calling it the HTC Desire (BRAVO) ORIGINAL - not the Desire HD - Ace...
and/or make them say which model they are referring to, rather than you saying it
I still don't believe it. Until I see it on my Desire it won't exist
We will see it this month!

I dont really see the point of this as right now the "Sense" scene is all about Sense 3.0 which already has a working beta ROM in existence. Most Sense users are all using either InsertCoin, RCMixS or like me Reflex S which has Sense 2.1 + 3.0 features and most are stable.
When the Sense 3.0 ports are our of beta i bet that even if HTC do officially release this update, no one is really going to care.
The devs here have been rolling out updates faster than you can get used to the new version they just released yesterday.
I chatted today also with HTC and he said that de Update comes in Q2 - THIS MONTH! I asked him "Is this true? or will it be an desaster like the Hero update?" The Said: "No, it comes this month!"
The question of Sense 2.1 he answert with: "Desire will get Sense 2.1 but it can be with an later update! But the chance is big that it comes together"
He said this in german and i translated what he said quick and dirty

The point is that there is probably a big HTC customer base that don't wanna root or flash custom roms. Actually I believe it's bigger than the custom scene. And this is their only hope for an update.
The XDA forum has become a place for any kind of Android fan for info and such, not for just developers and cooks.

But who comes to XDA with a stock Desire and just looks at all the custom goodness and decides not to partake.
That's like going to a bar, buying liquor and just looking at it.

That's not the right place to ask.
Anyway, GB kernel source can be found at htcdev.com
Only kernel and core android is subject to gpl. This means you can download HTC kernel and android source code but you cannot download HTC android source code as its proprietory

wait what? Are you asking which devices has the desire source code?
That seems very odd and I doubt very much that any DEVICES will have desire source code laying around..

Learn reading I mean which HTC Sense devices got Sense sources, not desire. It doesn't take much to understand what you're reading

You are disturbing too
i presume your trying to build a htc rom with sense from source. If so this is impossible as sense is not open source, all sense roms are modified stock roms or ports of stock roms for other htc devices. An aosp rom can be compiled from source but not directly for the desire you must compile for another supported device, nexus one is the closest to the desire. Then you must swap the kernel for a good desire one. Then you must add desire drivers, which i am trying to find myself currently. Cyanogen can be compiled from source for the desire

Seriously when you're the one writing, apparently it is.. here is what the above sentence would look like in english:
Learn to read. What I meant to say was, "which HTC devices has got the HTC sense source?" I didn't mean desire source even though that was what i wrote. It doesn't take too much effort to understand what you're reading.

Had to add quite a few words, but this reflects what I, the general reader, understood from your sentence after quite some effort..
Also you start out by asking for HTC desire sense source-code, which a quick search would have told you is unavailable, and then you ask which devices have this before-mentioned source. In no way did you indicate that you weren't still looking for the desire Source in other devices..
Additionally I'd like to specify, that source-code is the raw coding, which is compiled into software capable of running on our devices. meaning that what is shipped on phones doesn't contain source-code as such but a version of the compiled software for this specific device so no there is absolutely no HTC devices containing this software. And finally the HTC sense source-code is proprietary and as such it'll never leave HTC's development department.

Thank you. But,I googled sense sources but found only kernel ones,so was asking here.
Ye it might have required some more extensive reading than the Google search overview page.. But when you choose to skip this step and go ahead and ask the forum, you'll want to put quite a bit more effort into formulating the question properly. Especially if English isn't your native language.
