[Q] myTouch 3G Slide - Replaced digitizer, Swype acting wonky - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

The screen on my myTouch Slide 3G was cracked. I replaced the screen and everything seems to be okay except using Swype. Instead of drawing smooth, straight lines like it used to, the lines will sometimes jump around the keyboard and it looks like scribbles. With this problem Swype is completely useless.
I'm fairly certain that this isn't a Swype problem. For example, sometimes when I try to open the app menu the pull-down notification window comes up instead. Strange little problems like that keep happening.
What I need to know is the opinion of the masses on whether this is a problem with the new screen or if I did something wrong when I replaced it. I got the screen off of eBay so who knows if it's a good screen or not, but I've never worked much on phones so I could have done something wrong when digging around inside the phone. I've looked around to see if there's a way to calibrate the screen but from what I've found that option isn't really available.
Thoughts?

[Q] Touch screen acting weird

When I press on the very bottom of the screen (edge of the glass), it acts as a click to about 1/3 the way up the screen. This is annoying by its self (and doesn't seem ROM related) but also my screen sometimes locks up, with a point at about 1/3 the way up the screen, and horizontally in the middle, and I can't do anything until I lock the screen and leave it off for a second. More recently, but related to this issue, the keyboard when typing hasn't been accurate. I've tried to type 'a' but got caps or 'q' instead, and I get letters I didn't press.
This is not ROM related, as it started happening on CM6 about a week ago, and I've flashed Ava V9, Myn's 2.2, FrEaKy Evo, and CM6, and I have tried stock kernels, and Kings. It seems to lock up more when plugged in also. I've been watching the forums and I haven't seen anyone else post about this, is it just me? It seems very hardware related, but if there is a fix for it that someone knows about, please let me know.
If I get around to it I might take a video of what I'm talking about, but probably only if it's requested.
I'm currently running Myn's Two-Point-Two with King's CFS #11 and am still getting the issues. I've rebooted, and wiped cache/dalvik, flashed new roms, reflashed, nothing.
I am having the exact problem, except that the spot that keeps getting phantom clicks is at the very top of the screen, so the drop down bar starts freaking out. I downloaded the program 'dotty' and it is showing that a touch is being registered in the expect spot, so I'm pretty sure it is just an issue with the screen hardware. I want to take it to a sprint store and see if they can replace just the screen instead of getting a brand new phone because I have so much stuff downloaded on it and I don't want to lose data/settings.
It happens a lot, but then I will have days at a time that it stops happening...its just very strange.
Its good to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Currently running rooted stock froyo. unrevoked forever. Original June 7th release device.
same here...was happening witht he W/q as well...but when your viewing a white page you can see a light on the screen brighter than the rest...

W/q? what are you talking about there?
also the light bright spot is completely unrelated: evo developing a light spot in middle of screen
Screen burn possibly due to overclock
Bright spot in the lower right of screen

I downloaded dotty, and it's saying my spot is at:
X: 159.6
Y: 363.5
and P which I'm assuming is the size of the area being touched at .937.
I tested P and it does seem to be how big of an area you're touching but the biggest that I could get using my thumb was only .235, so it's a huge area and constantly in the same spot. Some times it gives me two points or one a bit up and to the left.

[Q] G2 Touch Screen Woes.

I just bought a used G2 today for a ridiculously good price. The phone is in absolute mint condition, however I have one small issue.
I am unable to swipe. Not swype, as in the texting app. I can't smoothly switch home screens because as soon as my finger leaves the screen during a swiping motion, any movement on the display immediately halts in it's current position. I constantly get stuck in between home screens, and when trying to navigate vertical lists it's near impossible because there's no fluidity and the list stops literally as soon as the screen has no contact. Also, while trying to navigate vertical lists, every once in a while the screen position will 'jump' back to where it just was as you attempt to scroll down further, thus causing a piece of screen that just won't go away for a moment. One more related issue is the fact that when I try to tap things it will act as if I'm doing a long-press. For example: sometimes hitting the app drawer button will bring up the long-press options, clicking an app from the open drawer will move icon like you're about to place on home screen, etc. This is all very annoying.
If this could be fixed then the phone would be perfect. It was like this when I first got it with the stock 2.2 rom on it. I proceeded to wipe and root the phone, install clockwork, and get the latest stable CM7 on it. Please, somebody help
Not to offend, but there's probably a reason it was so cheap and you may have found it.
This may not be the answer you're looking for but I had an issue just like this not long ago.
I dropped my phone in a parking garage, it landed face down. The EXACT issue you're describing, started at this moment. I found that some "persuasive" force, IE slamming the phone on a counter, or, a "twisting" action on phone helped...
I know, being so abusive to a $500 phone that I haven't even paid off yet doesn't seem like the smartest idea, but I do have insurance.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm having the same problem. I dont want to go through the warranty process b/c I need to have my phone for the next few weeks. If any dev can help me solve this problem I would be very appreciative. Thank you.
Check the connection of the ribbon cable.
Could have been dropped and knocked loose.

hardware problem?

hi, had my desire z about a year now, since ive had it, quite rarely ive had a problem of it seeming to have a mind of its own, for example, icons may be selected, or the home screen will slide accross by itself etc. ive always put this down to a trackpad problem.
the other day (after having a miui rom installed for about 2-3 weeks, which was fine untill now), it started acting up strangely, the above problem started happening, but more severe, also the touch screen and softkey buttons would stop working for periods of time (or stop completely untill reset), but screen rotation etc would still be working, which shows that the O/S has not frose and is still working behind the scenes (making me think its a hardware problem).
now, i think ive worked out that this seems to be triggered (mostly) when i open the keyboard. (as also, when the touchscreen stops working etc, sometimes, sliding the keyboard open and close several times, will sometimes seem to unfreeze the touchscreen etc, and will be back to normal, for a while). ive tried doing full wipe and reflashing etc, but i still have the same problems mainly when using the slide out keyboard, which again, makes me think its hardware (possibly keyboard ribbon cable?)
i really dont want to send it off as that means getting it all back to stock etc, and last time i needed the screen replaced, took 6 weeks to get it back!
if anyone could pinpoint the likely source of the problem, id rather replace the part myself..
would anyone have any ideas, as they would be very much appriciated... Thanks...
anyone at all?
I got 2 Zs meanwhile but dont have any problem with the keyboard.
But sometimes when its charging i got the same issues like you - no touch is working and the screens are sliding nearly automatically.
I think this has nothing to do with the keyboard...
Hope this had helped you a bit

thanks for the reply, unfortunately im still no closer to finding source of the problem, its intermittant, happened lots yesterday, not so much today, maybe the digitiser? its like there is another invisible finger touching the screen..
This would happen when i was on stock froyo, like it would cause the home screen to hang, but if i was ion an app it worked fine. I would use it to refresh of sorts when my phone was hung up or i need to reload my apps from sd lol. Sounds weird I know, but even with stock froyo i had problems with my keyboard but with the prerooted GB its as smooth as butter...
still going on, and getting more frequent, i dont think it is to do with the keyboard anymore. im now guessing it is the digitizer, its like someone is pressing an invisible finger on the screen, roughly in the center. it comes and goes, it happens for about 3 days, then goes away for a couple of days etc.
also there is very little info anywhere on the net that can help, including replaceing the digitizer itself
anyone ever replaced one on a disire z/g2?

touchscreen issues

My Nexus 7 2013 model has some touchscreen issues. It's like the touchscreen craps out for a split second. when dragging icons from one home screen to another when i try to go to the edge of the screen to switch to the next screen it drops it on the side of that screen or the next one pushing another icon out of the way. then i have to move it again and move the other icon back only to have it happen again to the next home screen. always had this problem. also when typing it registers each letter multiple times so it looks like this: hhhhii hhhoooww aarree youuu. or something to that effect. it's really annoying. i finally gave up and went my computer to Facebook message someone. and then swipe is all messed up and it gives off the wall words and stuff because it doesn't register which words i'm trying to spell out. Often when using a news app i try to click to play a news video and it doesn't register my clicks. also on the web browser it has trouble registering my key-presses or touch for links or numbers or arrows when advancing to the next page in forums or web-pages. If that makes any since. and when trying to zoom in or out on the T mobile map is screws up almost every time and zooms completely out. anyways i hope you get the picture. has anyone else have this problem? it's quite annoying. I've been wanting to post about it for the last year but thought it was just my fingers.
My touchscreen is borked too. I can't type any sh*t, overall the UX has been f***ed up due to these non-sense touchscreen issues. Tried all possible hardware fixes available on net. Teared down tablet piece-by-piece, still no luck :/ . Bought this beauty in 2014, worked fine till mid-2016. Now it's a crap. I still can't find any worthy tablet to replace this beast. Will never buy any Mobile device from ASUS.
I know. I've reset mine a few times but that didn't help. It's working fine at the moment as I'm typing with it right now. Seems intermittent.

Pixel 2XL Touch Sensitivity Issues

I've had this phone for about 5 months now and one thing thats been bothering me for most of the time is the phones touch sensitivity. Lately also it appears to be getting worse.
Phone is completely stock
I am on Pie and I have the newest update.
I am not rooted
I am not using a screen protector
I do not have huge hands or particularly fat fingers
first I don't use a lock on my phone, so I swipe up to unlock it. Most of the time it take multiple swipes to unlock, most of the time its 2 or 3 but sometimes up to 5 if not more. Is this livable sure but let me tell you it's getting really really annoying after just 5 months.
Scrolling on the phone has always been odd, it feels choppy at times, especially when scrolling in apps like facebook or the browser, scrolling outside of apps seems ok. Its like it's missing some of my inputs or applying some sort of acceleration or deceleration based on how fast you swipe and its just doing it poorly. Now again this is just an inconvenience but still...coming from a Note 8 the scrolling was always smooth..never once did I notice it being choppy.
So these two I just chalked up to how the software was implemented..it was what it was
So fast forward to now....I'm noticing even more issue with the touch sensitivity....words dont type right , I often miss spaces when typing, I thought it was my bad typing but now I really think it's missing some of my inputs because its worse than just my bad typing. The worst is when I go to correct words and hit the right word on the top of the keyboard is misses the word. It doesn't always put it it..it misses the touch and it does this a lot.
If I try to highlight something it will at times highlight the wrong row or word...every now and then it will highlight something not even close to what I was trying to highlight, like another part of my hand accidentally touched another part of the screen, but it didn't. I try to duplicate this when it happens and I cant.
In the same vein, sometime I touch something on the screen to open a link or something like that and it will touch something else close but not what I was trying to touch, again sometime something not even close will register like I accidentally hit something somewhere else...again I cant duplicate it.
It will register touches when I'm not touching the screen, just holding the phone....I think maybe I accidentally "touched: the edge of the screen but also I can never duplicate the action
Im at a point here to I feel like there is either something wrong with the screen on my phone or I need to turn to rooting to see if the issue really is software and maybe its been fixed by the community.
I came here to check about rooting but I thought I would ask the question first and see what people thought about the issue. I did a search and there definitely seems to be others having similar issues and a lot of those people seemed to be having screen issues. So maybe it really is a hardware issue and I should just skip the root and talk to google?
I have almost the same issue. Any solutions !?!
Try a factory reset and see if that helps any. If it doesn't, contact Google; a warranty replacement may be in your future.
