[Q] Proper [email protected] ROM ? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any GB rom that can record 720p video at 30 fps with normal flow (like the 800x480 option), no jerkiness and artifacts ?
I ve tried so far Leedroid 3.8.0.2, some builds of insertcoin and rcmixS but all of them had out of sync audio or artifacts and totally unacceptable quality.
Is there also any possibility that this could be fixed with the official HTC GB release ?
Thanks in advance.

Just to point out and throw it out there, our camera can't really do 720p, not the quality anyway. Just keep trying roms or knock it on the head.

Tried a couple ROMs - bottom line - no quality (like you need) 720p for the Desire.

Ok I got the point, thanks for your answers. Let's hope that HTC will do something about it in the forthcoming update.

[TEST] OpenDesire vs. AuraxTSense 720p video quality

OpenDesire 4.0.4 against the AuraxTSense 7.6.1 version
Pure Google Android against HTC Widget UI
I was a long time Sense UI fan, then out of curiosity and love towards Google i tried the OpenDesire project by Adam and i like very much the speed and beauty of everything.
What bothered me though was the lack of some settings in camera/videocamera. No touch to focus during video especially.
Today i tried one last test, to see who will win my heart and my Desire over.
THIS is the OpenDesire 4.0.4 shot by video.
Wiped, flashed the AuraxTSense 7.6.1 version (contrary to the title in the actual video) and shot THIS video.
Do you agree that the video by OD is far better and smooth? Only if there was that darn touch to autofocus. Maybe even DURING the shooting?
As for me, i'm nandroidRestoring my way back to OpenDesire.
Thanks for reading!
Says that the video's are private...
yeah, cannot view the videos
I forgot to change the settings.. Will do.. Check in a minute..
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
shooting videos is 1 thing..being able to view them decently is another..if i had the sense music player , video player, gallery, radio app, camera functions, video functions pretty widgets that exist in sense, i would go od in a heartbeat..but nope..noway..even the keyboard has to be changed to b fanctional for my language..
I've done this test many, many times.
AOSP roms with Nexus One cyanogen ported camera (like cyanogenmod, defrost and opendesire too) have the advantage of a lower datarate (6Mbit vs 7.5Mbit) which is easier on the microsd and also sometimes of a better auto-iso management especially in not-so-ideal lighting. On the other hand I think the camera app is crap in itself and lacks autofocus badly.
If you have a fast enough microsd and adjust a bit the iso on HTC Sense, you will end up probably with equal or better results.
Oh and by the way, I can't stand stock android lack of polish

[Q] Desire camcorder recording at 30fps?

Hi, I've been using the DeFrost and CM ROMs and I notice that their camera app records 720p videos at 30fps. Does any Sense ROMs manage to do that?
hi Malaysian, well Sense ROM can get close to 30fps, but not there, basically because of limitations within the "Sense" itself, that's why CM,DF and OD chose to abandon "Sense" and go open source ROM
A month back, OD/CM were no better than HTC 2.2. I used to run these three. In the recorded vid, except the bit rates, there was hardly a difference. All managed 27-29FPS average and 10-11FPS lows. So how do you say 30FPS fixed... Rumors?

I should clarify. It "looks" 30fps with rather good framerates. So you guys are saying that AOSP camcorder and Sense camcorder is virtually the same?

I can't speak for others but there is definitely no noticeable difference between the video output in my experience of ~3months. The Sense ROM cam has options and UI unmatched on the AOSP ROMs though.

ROM without Sense and 720p camcorder

Anything, I've tried a lot...
Try the gingerbread ROMs with lgcamera... people said that 720p is working.
No idea about 2.2 Non-sense ROMs.
I want this as well.

Both should have 720p but the desire will never be a star at recording 720p.
Sorry for bringing up a zombie thread, but is there any other new non-sense ROM with 720p video-recording? I have tried to use lgcamera, but it doesn't work for me. 720p recorded videos can't be played back. I managed to record one 800x600 video in 1 try out of 10.
I know, I know the quality is not that good, but this isn't a thread or question about quality. It's about the possibility.
Pretty sure the Sense framework is required for/does the 720p recording; I'm looking for this, too. But I don't think it's possible on a Sense-free rom. Keeping my eye on shaky156's ICS Sense rom in my sig.

[Q] Poor video playback with GB ROMs

Hi folks,
I have been using Leedroid 2.2.3 till now and vidoe playback has been superb. I now tried a few GB roms - a stock rooted one, and Leedroid 3.03, and both play back video poorly (I'm talking about downloaded tv shows etc). Sound goes out of sync, and the picture gets jerky.
Is anyone else finding this? Are all GB roms like this? Its a shame because audio quality is alot better with GB than Froyo.
Gary.
Just gonna give this a little bump. No one else having video playback issues with GB ROMs?

720p camera htc desire

guys and ladies
720p was working 100% on the official froyo rom right?
or was there issues also?
wondering why its not working on the 2.3.3 roms and wondering if it will be fixed with the official release?

I had some problems with sound.
It was always dissynchronized.
I think it happens because of MPEG-codec..
also fps was bad
even with change in ISO settings to 800
basically it tries to reduce noice by lowering Framerate.
that suck...too much motion blur and low quality video recording in the end
i loved my 30fps recording on nokia
I have the Leedroid 3.3.3 ROM on my HTC Desire, and when i try to record 720p in the mp4 format it does lag alot. However when i changed the file format to .3gp it seems to be working alot better now than it did on when it was set at .mp4.
