I was playing around with this this morning, and installed it over my MIUI ROM. I wiped Dalvik first, and flashed it. MIUI didn't really like it, even though I was using jcase's 1.8 ghz CM7 kernel with it. It caused it to bootloop (or what appeared to be a bootloop), but came out of it and loaded the ROM after about 6 loops. It ran fine after that, but then on a reboot, caused a ton of lag.
I now have it running on CM7 fine. I didn't overclock it, and am getting 2200 Quadrant scores running the 'lagfree' gov. Very snappy.

I know this is probably a pretty general question, but how does this kernel compare to the stock CM7 kernel?

v2 is out.

Updated with version 3.

This looks great. I will try it out. Smart ass governor did wonders on my dinc1.

So let me be sure here, Im running the current CM7 offered here, I can just run this zip in recovery over my current Rom.

Its from jdkoreclipse, I won't be downloading

In case you are wondering whether or not to download this kernel, hopefully this will help.
Take a look at this guy's signature here:

That sig highlights the conquests of user JDKoreclipse aka rr12106, droidhacker26, m0rt4l s0ul, romflash, & k_chupe.
This is relevant because the kernel in this thread is being hosted at jdkoreclipse.com.

I understand that, but I have been working with him for over 6 months and he has helped me learn when most people wouldn't even respond. He has been trying to make good with all he did in the past but no one will give him a chance. Well hell I don't need to apologize for him- so read this POST Now back to the kernel. I will be taking over development of this very soon, maybe this weekend.

Exactly, it seems he has apologized for his actions in the past, non the less everyone should be aware of the history before flashing one of his builds

Okay everyone, and let's get this thread back on topic. Has anyone else tried this with MIUI?

This should work on any AOSP Rom.

[Kernel] Yennob-Base | 8/23 Update

Updated - 8/23/2011
Note - 8/19/2011
I pulled out the BFS builds for the public because almost nobody uses it and it takes extra time for me to keep up multiple builds. If you like one of my builds and you really want to use BFS, shoot me a private message and I can patch it in for you.
Also, I'm redoing the governors I'll be adding a modified on demand and interactive to each one when I play with them a bit more. All of these are running ondemand if you flash them, just so you know.
Currently all kernels are built from source 2.6.35.7
Base1 -1.2 Overclock | Tiny Undervolt
Base2 -1.2 Overclock | Tiny Undervolt | BLN Support
Base3 -1.2 Overclock | Tiny Undervolt | Voodoo v10
Base4 -1.2 Overclock | Tiny Undervolt | BLN | Voodoo v10
I have made versions of my kernel available with the ability to change your voltages using at least setCPU, if you are using one of those kernels and you have played with the voltages, please do not comment on here about an issue as I'll only support issues for the voltages I've set.
Base1 -1.2 Overclock | UserVolts
Base2 -1.2 Overclock | UserVolts | BLN
Base3 -1.2 Overclock | UserVolts | Voodoo v10
Base4 -1.2 Overclock | UserVolts | BLN | Voodoo v10

I figured I might as well throw this out here. I know this space is already eaten up by a few other kernels but hell with it. I've been running stuff I've been building since the CDMA Hero but I quit releasing things during drama. I'm not a big fan of a million features packed into a kernel so be aware that this might not be what you're looking for.
Most of my inspiration is from a few years back but I have contacted current devs too... so thank you to to all the inspiration from dev's with open githubs - netarchy, cyanogen team, cayniarb and I'm sure I've browsed through others. Mathkid also helped me figure out why bluetooth didn't build right on the Nexus S, so thank you.

Built from source 2.6.35.7
Default Governor - conservative
BLN - I dont personally use this, just added for a friend... your call if it works.
Overclock - Clocked at 1.2
Extra Governor - dfconservative - scales up slower and down faster
I've noticed an issue that if I clock at 100/800 then sometimes my cpu jumps up to 200 randomly but I cant seem to find anything while watching the debugging so I'll probably play with the voltages some. Right now its not undervolted and I havent decided if I want to deal with user issues due to modifying voltages.
I'm not currently using a custom recovery, so let me know if this .zip doesnt work for you. Its based on AnyKernel by Koush.

I like the way this sounds. I've been looking for something like cfs @ 1.2ghz without the need for a cpu oc tool and WITHOUT BLN. Any way you can make this a reality?

I was asking him which default governor he'd like(which now I've decided I should stick with my roots)... I'm a fan of the conservative governor on this phone. All my HTC phones did much better with interactive/smartass but this phone pops the cpu up randomly (even while asleep) when you use those so I didn't include them in the release, though I tried them in testing.
My git is super ugly and will be changing - http://github.com/dfbonney
adb commands I use for watching my cpu stuff:
cat /proc/cpuinfo
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
Awesome! No issues so far... Using Ondemand gov and running smooth... Conservative is not my thing The more options for the NS4G the better. Looking forward to this and more.

I had same issue when I first got my ns4g, but after settling in on a rom and conditioning my battery, I'm consistantly getting about 18 hours of usable time. And I consider myself a fairly heavy user.....streaming Pandora and MLB, lots of browsing, texts, twitter etc..... and averaging about 4 hours of screen on time.

Just flashed awhile ago and so far so good. I like the additional governors
First boot takes a while people so be patient.
Running CM7-Stable.
Is this a CM 2.6.35.14 based kernel?
Anyone got a working link? Thanks in advance.

Comment:
Running this on CM7 Stable RC 7.1.0 and using the stock setting of SmartAssv2 governor I had to bump the bottom Mhz from 100 to 200 to stop lockups on my device....
Of course we know kernels can vary from device to device but it seems like it didn't like having to wake from 100 Mhz.
Looks interesting!
Question: How does the touch-wake feature impact the battery life? Anybody notice a significant difference?

Few pointers: why do you have swap? We don't need bloody swap in this devices. BFQ scheduler? BFQ is for rotational devices, we have flash devices. Why SLAB and no SLQB or SLUB? Why smartass2? Smartass2 isn't working good, even after changing the tunables for SMP. Why interactiveX? We already have interactive and it already has a built-in sysfs screen off freq parameter. Lagfree governor? It looks like Minmax to me.
Merry christmas!
i don't have any tech knowledge about kernels and such so i can't comment on franco's input but i have to agree with lordofcamster;
i'm too running the latest MCR release and together with this kernel the thing is really smooooth; oc'ed at 1350 ( 1125 uv ) with interactiveX governor
batterylife seems pretty ok too; i'm trying to drain the battery to see how much screen time i can get...
so far 2hrs + some minutes screen on and i'm down to 56% battery;
( in between i restarted the phone 5 times )
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what does tuna refer to?

Governors are not mods that you can download. They're inherently built into the kernel that you're using. Eugene has smartass built into his streamline kernel, as does synergy. Although I definitely do not recommend using smartass, it doesn't play well with our chipset. Usually after locking and unlocking the screen, it'll stick at max frequency
yes, you are correct, the black edition remake rom came with the synergy kernel, I saw the smartass governor when I open the setcpu app.
But I don't know what happened the smartass governor is now gone! I reinstalled the black edition rom, Hoping to get the smartass back, unfortunately,I still do not get back the smartass governor that came with the synergy kernel. I don't know how to get it back.
I instead flashed the darksideX kernel, it is much smoother, do you know if the darkside X kernel has an update?

yes, you are correct, the black edition remake rom came with the synergy kernel, I saw the smartass governor when I open the setcpu app.
But I don't know what happened the smartass governor is now gone! I reinstalled the black edition rom, Hoping to get the smartass back, unfortunately,I still do not get back the smartass governor that came with the synergy kernel. I don't know how to get it back.

Nope, the only updated one is included in his own ROM and can't be found anywhere else.

The reason the smartass governor disappeared is because black edition has been updated to ics and currently there is only one kernel that is compatible with ics and it's the leaked at&t kernel which does not support smartass. If you're on a gingerbread ROM you can just install the synergy kernel to get it back. But like I said, smartass doesn't work for our phones so I don't know why you're so determined to try it

Governors are not mods that you can download. They're inherently built into the kernel that you're using. Eugene has smartass built into his streamline kernel, as does synergy. Although I definitely do not recommend using smartass, it doesn't play well with our chipset. Usually after locking and unlocking the screen, it'll stick at max frequency

i saw this happening with other governors based on smartass as well.
as far as i know, synergey and streamline have the most supported governors.

Yeah savagedzen and brazilianwax are both based on smartass and don't work either
Yea, unfortunately Smartass gov is not compatible with our hardware, there are no fixes for this. Faux tried to get this to work ad-nauseam a few months ago.

Can't wait. Your kernel kept me from jumping to the JB leaks until clark44 just released his rom.

I don't know.
If sprint's rom/kernels running on it this might run as well
But try it at your own risk.
Already yes

Same here, I was really just waiting for source so I knew a custom kernel was close behind the roms
Version 0.2.0 is up and running,
Added few governors, hotplug support, Updated to linux 3.0.35.
Enjoy.
Does this support custom voltages? If so, what would be the recommended app for adjusting them

I tried ktoonservative and deadline and was getting some weird "hot restarts". Not sure how to explain it.

OC UV Support?
Agat, will you be updating this so that we can OC and UV in the future, I know that this is just the second version on JB but I loved what you did with the ICS version. Thanks in Advanced TIA.

Of course and that's the only governor that exhibits it so far in my testing.
So does this give better battery?

Have you tried Ktoonservative and Noop? This is what I am using and it is working fine. I am currently running a stress test using SetCPU and after 126891ms there were no errors from the CPU.

It should because if you use the correct governor it will ensure that the second CPU is in sleep mode unless it is needed to process phone requests. I have used Agat's kernel with ICS Roms like FreeGS3 and it has run great.
