[BOOT ANIMATION] Waving Samsung-Droids - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Hi there,
I created a bootanimation for myself, specially for the Galaxy SII, and I'd like to share it with you. I mixed "The Waving Droids" with Samasungs Boot logo.
What you need:
-Rooted SGS2
-Bootanimation compatible Kernel
How to:
1.Copy bootanimation.zip to sd card. (Do NOT rename)
2. Move it, using Root Explorer (o. e.) to /system/media/ or /data/local .
Tested to work with "CF-Root v4"
Have Fun!
How to uninstall:
1. Open Root Explorer
2. Navigate to /system/media
3. Delete bootanimation.zip
4. At next reboot the S-Samsung Logo will be back.
If you had a backup (bootanimation.zip.bak o.e.) of the previous animation, rename backup to bootanimation.zip and replace it.

Lol! LOVE IT!!!!!

This seems pretty cool! Keep up the good work! However if i wat to go back the way I was (Without the droid), what do i need to do? Sorry for the dumb question

I presume rename the original file to *****.bkp and then copy new animation over.

edit.............

I added instuctions on how to uninstall.
Has anyone an idea of another bootanimation that has to be mixed?

2. Move it, using Root Explorer (o. e.) to /system/media/

You need to be rooted. If you are, press the button "Mount R/W" at the Top and retry.
(When using Root Explorer)

Thank you janis Keep up the good work!

Works on Villain 2.0, very nice! Reminds me of the boot animation of the HTC Hero

Hii , could you make for : [ROM][2.3.4] Cognition S2 v1.12 | Now Live . (clockworkmod recovery 4.0.0.8)
Please

As long as the Roms Kernel does not support bootanimation, i can't do anything.

Thanks great animation!! but i still got the sound of my previous lightning rom animation.. can i kill that sound??

Quick and Easy Bootanimation.zip Swap for the G2

Ok, I like playing with boot animations on my device. And I have this quirk for running everything I can on the device, rather than through ADB, unless I have to. While digging through assorted threads, here and abroad, I ran across a nifty app called GScript lite, free on the Market, and amazingly useful. On another thread, someone pointed out that if you copy a boot animation to /data/local, it will take precedence over any boot animations that your favorite ROM may install. So, I decided to simplify changing boot ani's, so I can swap them around whenever I feel like it. I now have it down to about 30 sec, and decided to post this for everyone interested to try it. Ok, so, here's the details;
Requirements: GScript lite, file manager, new boot animations
1) Download the animation you want to try to your SDcard
2) Copy the zip to /mnt/sdcard
3) Rename animation file "bootanimation.zip"
4) Open GScript and hit menu
a) Type in whatever you want to call the script in the top
box
b) Make sure "Needs SU?" is checked
c) Type cp /mnt/sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local
<enter>
reboot
d) Now hit "save"
5) Just press your scriptname in the list and enjoy!
From here on out, to change boot animations, all you need to do is copy the renamed file to SD root, and click on that script, phone will reboot showing your brand new animation. "Share and Enjoy!"
I'd like to thank the GScript devs for a very useful tool, and Kaanha for the commands
Click the Thanks button if this helps you.
Nice...definitely makes switching them pretty simple. Thanks!

Works like a charm!!!!
Thanks Much!!!
There are a few apps on the Market that can do this as well, no Terminal knowledge required (or scripts)
Simply search for your bootanimation from the GUI and it should do the job for you...
Boot Animation Changer Lite comes to mind, it's free.
There are a few other ones if you search for bootanimation on the Market.
Hope this helps. Good luck
perfect, worked like a charm, enjoying my honeycomb animation now. thank you.

okay. Different method. Download this (rename it to splash1.img for simplicity) and put in c: and download the fastboot.exe attached and put it in c: (remember to unzip it)
boot into fastboot mode (power off, hold back + power) and plug in via usb
open cmd and type:
Code:
cd\
fastboot flash slpash1 slpash1.img
uhm, you do realize, that kuljit55 wants to change the bootanimation, not the splash-screen?
Can't help you with your question tho.
Edit: I'm having the suspicion, that you just need to drop the zip-file into /data/local .
crap, my bad got confused (that's why I gave android flasher in the first place).. lol sorry ^_^
In /data/local or /system/media you should find a file called bootanimation.zip. Replace this file with yours and reboot. Now you should see the new bootanimation.

Nope, not in Oxygen. I think the oxy-bootanimation is in the framework-file, but if you put a bootanimation.zip into /data/local, your phone should show this animation during bootup instead of the original one

Yeah, that's right. Had a bootanimation.zip file in /data/local from old theme there. I just deleted it, rebooted and the original bootanimation is shown. By implication this means, when you put a bootanimation.zip in /data/local, this one should be shown.

Your current kernel must be able to support bootanimation.zip in order to allow changing your boot animation. Currently the only kernel that is able to support that is the one cooked into the Cm7 Alpha ROM.
My current bootanimation is of cars drifting

you can download the zip from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?de2dzq711h37o08
Theres several ways to install custom bootanimations but the easiest one is this (atleast it for me):
Step 1. You have to be rooted in order to do this.
Step 2. Download Root Explorer from the market.
Step 3. Rename downloaded .zip to "bootanimation" and Copy to SD Card
Step 4. Unmount your Droid.
Step 5. Open Root Explorer, tap on “sdcard” and locate bootanimation.zip.
Step 6. Long press on bootanimation.zip and choose “Move”.
Step 7. Hit the back button once and locate the “system” folder.
Step 8. Tap and open “system” and then “media”.
Step 9. Hit “Paste” which should be an option at the bottom of your screen.
Step 10. If there is already a bootanimation.zip file, let Root Explorer overwrite it.
Step 11. Back out of Root Explorer and Reboot your phone.
Step 12. Enjoy your new Droid boot animation.
Samsung ROMs use .qmg files rather than just a bootanimation.zip for the boot animation in system/media and shutdown animation is under system/media/video/shutdown
I found a couple in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206374
I think the Droid Charge has a red eye, you might like that one. I like the stock I9100

bootanimation is kernel driven...so it doesn't matter what ROM you have as long as the kernel supports bootanimation.zip

It's a little of both. You need the kernel to have the right init.rc entry to start the binary. The ROM has to have the proper binary to run a Bootanimation.zip. The current binaries from Samsung don't support it. I have a GB Bootanimation binary from the I9000 that kinda works. You have to rename the Bootanimation.zip to sanim.zip. The down side is it just runs the animation but doesn't boot into the ROM. It needs to be called via a script and then killed. So that means a custom Ramdisk in the kernel then add the binary and a sanim.zip to the ROM.

I'm pretty sure he said he was waiting for the bugs to be squashed in the cm7 kernel. As it is a little unstable to build on.
Mr.x has a cm7 synergy kernel going though

greatly improved, thanks!
I pushed the bootanimation.zip with "adb push bootanimation.zip /Data/Local" and it said the file was transferred, but nothing seems to have happened. Any ideas?
EDIT:
Nevermind, I got it by trying a few different things at once. Not sure what I threw at it to make it stick, but something worked
Thanks. Big Improvement!
When you run the "adb push bootanimation.zip System/Media", where does the bootanimation.zip need to be placed initially?
Sorry for the noob question

The format for the command is:
adb push <full path to source file> <full path to destination>
Hence where you put is is up to you, given that the example usage just states "bootanimation.zip" then it will look for that file in the current working directory.
Also note that the destination should be "/system/media" (no caps)
Cool thanks a lot!

I decreased how fast the animation happens so it doesn't look like such a jump when the kernel is finished loading
i used Root explorer to copy bootanimation.zip to system/media and i tried data/local as well
i just renamed the original to bootanimation.zip.bak
but it doenst seem to be working =/
I tried both folders but it still looks like the low res boot animation
do i HAVE to use adb to push the file? I thought root explorer would be the same because i mount the drive as R/W before copying. Or maybe it has to do with permissions...
I'm using AndroidHD 1.3.1 ROM which supposedly supports custom bootanimations too btw

Bios Bootanimation

Yo Guys
I took J_M_V_S http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562694 Bios PDS sources and modded this for our devices. Took a while though. Very Pleased with the outcome:laugh::victory:
To change stock boot animation your device must be Rooted. This is for MM. Go to your root explorer > System Root > etc > media. The stock bootanimation will be there.make backup of that if u want to revert back. Copy and Replace the bootanimation.zip with the downloaded one. RW-, R--, R-- permissions. Reboot and Njoy ur New Boot. Hit Thanx if like:good:

In case anyone struggles with installation but would like to check it anyway - please find attached flashable ZIP file. Requires TWRP (should work with CWM), compatible with EMUI 4.0.
