[ROM-ish] OV Port of ath3nos's Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) 7/15 - Optimus V Android Development

While I was creating a way to port Zefei's CM7 to the Optimus V with working MMS, I guess I accidentally created a way to port a different Gingerbread Rom as well. The MMS works on this port! Thanks to Raul720 for figuring this out.
Boot into your recovery and do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Next flash these in the following order:
1. [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread)
Direct link to rom:
07/15/2011
2. gapps
3. Sprint-to-OV_ath3nos_signed.zip (updated 7/15/2011)
4. ath3nos_bloat_remover.zip Optional (updated 7/15/2011)
Removes: some ring tones, support for non-English languages, bootanimation, some themes, and other stuff that most people don't use.
This only increases space in the system partition.

Known Issues:
No voice search button for now. I remapped it to the power button.
160+ character SMS auto split doesn't work like it is supposed to. See below for a work around.
TIPS, TRICKS, AND FIXES:
1) Voicemail - Go to Settings/Call Settings/Voicemail Settings and change "*86" to YOUR phone number. You can now hold 1 to check voicemail in the dialer.
2) Proximity Sensor - Go to Settings/Call Settings and check "Always use proximity" to fix proximity sensor during calls.
3) Electron Beam - Open Settings/CyanogenMod Settings/Display and Check both Screen Animation boxes.
4) Split SMS - Open Messaging, Push Menu button, Select Settings, Check "SMS split" and "Split counter" to auto-split messages over 160 characters.
5) Battery Percentage - Go to Settings/CyanogenMod Settings/Interface/Status bar tweaks, you can check "Battery Percentage" to enable battery percentage in the status bar.
6) Front Key Wake - Flash this from recovery if you want all the front keys to wake the phone: Optimus_V_Key_Swap_signed.zip
7) Wrong Timezone - Settings > Date and time > Uncheck automatic. Then select the proper timezone. Finally, recheck automatic, and it should be fixed. (Thanks Eollie!)

Cool! Interested to see how this runs compared to Aosp's version. I love his rom but it still needs quite a bit of polish for me.

we've had some good discussion at another forum as well, but let me be the first in this forum to say thanks and great job!
i've been running this for a day now and it runs very smooth. the camera is fully functional as well. i've noticed that my battery life has been better than when on AOSP, though i'm not sure if it's ROM related. it's always hard to tell with battery life.
one thing i should mention is that after flashing the ROM, when you go under "About Phone" in settings, it will still say AOSP.

So far, and IDK if this is really a bug on your end but my Voice dialing button doesn't work.

I fixed that with the latest sprint-to-ov swap this morning. You can flash it over what you have now with no adverse effects. The only difference is the build.prop and the key swap is included.

oh cool. thanks mmarz!

That is a bug in the original rom. I updated the Sprint-to-OV file to map that button the to power button until it is fixed in the rom.

Or (and I know this is a radical idea) you could compile the source for the Optimus V and get working key mappings and the 'aosp' kernel without any additional work.
If you're getting better battery life, it may be due to using Zefie's kernel (which you get when you configure for the OS) vs the 'aosp' kernel (which you get when you build it for the OV).

What recovery would you use with this rom. Not sure.

Darn, I was perfectly happy running bumblebee waiting for a fully functional aosp GB build.... Now I have to try this.....

Any screenshots?

How does Bluetooth work on this? I'm trying to find a ROM compatible with Wiimote IME for emulators, Bumblebee is a no-go.

Same I didn't go back to bumblebee either

Rosie lines fixed in 1.0.1
looks good man. thanks
edit....
good, fast, stable stock rom. only thing I've noticed so far is that the lines are still in the app drawer like it's still paginated (forgot to remove). I flashed the TSM gingerbread theme on top flawless (themed on same base). I'm liking the speed of the rom, and being on stock is a breath of fresh air sometimes. And the boot animation is awesome!!
Reserved for my bug list
Hope it goes well.
E1 Can this be used on ext4 partitions?
E2 Sick boot animation. Just sayin.
E3 Flashed drel's #21 kernel, maybe a little preemptively. All is well so far! Except for the pagination lines existing in the app drawer.
E4 Every setting has been tweaked for battery conservation, including undervolting. Using smartassV2 at min and 1024. Gonna let 'er run all night and see where it is in the morning.
E5 No SMS screen on which is quite depressing to me...but anyway, after leaving it on all night it's still at 89%. Do note that I'm using smartassV2 though, which is probably the reason it's still that high

No, I want the screen to turn on when you get a message. Or any notification for that matter. Notification screen wake is also a name for it.

So been using this rom all morning and Havent found any major issues at least not for me but the page lines in drawer are not astetically pleasing if you could put up a patch or tut on how to remove that would be sweet.

Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
Figure out how to reproduce the fc, then do a logcat. It may be kernel related as I am running the stock kernel and haven't experienced this.

Absolutely loving your ROM! Silky smooth and refined with the awesome custom additions. Big thank you.
Folks, get this ROM. Put it on with the Apex kernel and it's beastly. With fairly light use, I only dropped 10% after three hours. Every other config I did was 10% within the first half hour even idling.

Same on the cdma build.
I updated from build 6 to build 7 and now I'm missing the music app :/ Aside from that, this from is great! Barely lost any battery on power saver mode and its been 6 hours! On Francisco Franco's kernel ( on nightly 2)
Just one suggestion though, is there any way to make the custom setting options in the notification tray customizable?
Id really like to have the ability to add custom apps and toggles
Nonetheless, great rom!

EDIT: Just checked MD5, it was a bad download, works great now
Just installed this after a full wipe. It shows that the build is 4.0.1; Google wallet crashes immediately and repeatedly; No system menu options in notification menu; It seems like this is just a renamed stock ROM... I'll try V6 to see if it was just posted incorrectly.

where i can download lastest gapps working on this rom?

Hi,
really like your rom. GPS is working fine on this one and really nice bootscreen
However, there are a few things I've found which could be optimized (attached a few files).
Replace the old gallery with the new one from 4.0.3 (old one has a 30 FPS limit...)
Replace Genie Widget with the new one from 4.0.3 (old one is ugly compared to the new version)
Remove first line in /system/lib/egl/egl.cfg for better 3D acceleration
Otherwise it would be nice to have the possibility to reach the settings menu from status bar again without loosing the ability to set wifi and display brightness etc...

OK sounds good. The kernel issue may be any number of thinhs. For now you can just skip anything to do with boot.img and it's components (/system/modules, /system/lib/modules) and just advise users to flash a kernel of their preference after 1st boot.

Q: How can I make my phone look like the OP images!?
A: Easy, in jellybeer settings, set the DPI to 213 and the uimode to tablet.
Q: The status bar is tiny! WTF!?
A: Remove SystemUI from the 213 DPI group.
Q: How's the battery life in this ROM!?
A: Awesome of course.
Q: Can I flash a different kernel!? I NEED to over clock!
A: Right now no, the kernel options we have are stock based
not AOSP based so DO NOT FLASH THEM.
Q: Oh man wtf!? Where are all the SPen apps!?
A: You need touchwiz for that, stay on a stock ROM. Use papyrus if you
just want to use the SPen for notes. CM also has a few SPen gestures.
The man has done it again... ..
Simply amazing ROM.. Flawless victory!!

I tried to install on the T-Mobile GN2 and it looks like it has a device check in the updater-script that causes it to fail. Not sure if that's the same thing that happened to the other user or not but that's what I got.

Does this ROM have 64gb microsd ex fat support if I can't flash other kernels?
This ROM is perfect..just like before when you made it..nothing is broken on this ROM...for the people that don't have a lot if experience with cm.....
Remember you can download cm/aokp themes in market or thru xda..and install them in settings/ theme section..and disregard what it says and install it anyways...it will work....
This is getting sick up in Herr Mr man sick ROM much alohas bradah boooyaaaah

I got an updater script failure. I am currently running CWM, so I'll try TWRP since it's suggested.
Does everyone else have to enable LTE manually by selected the right APN? Also manually changing the preferred network type to LTE/GSM auto (PRL) in the *#*#4636#*#* menu every boot?

[APP] Tabletizer Alpha 4 (2013.03.02)

! WARNING !
This is Alpha version meaning app is in active development! It may contains lots of bugs and may damage your device! Use on your own risk! Always backup before using!
I'm proud to present you Tabletizer - one-click solution (someday in the future, more clicks today) to turn your phablet Nexus 7 in to a real tablet. It should work on any AOSP 4.2 based ROMs and original ROMs from Google. Your ROM should be deodexed and you should have TWRP/CWM installed. Root is not required
Installation:
Have your N7 charged to at least 30% - the process eats a lot of battery;
Reboot to recovery;
BACKUP!
Reboot to OS;
Install APK;
Run Tabletizer and tap "Run Tabletizer" button (WARNING! Do not rotate device until process is finished!);
Wait until !FINISH! message is shown or any error message appear;
If you see error - send me a screenshot;
If everything is OK - reboot to recovery;
Install update.zip generated in /sdcard/data/tabletizer/temp;
Reboot;
...
PROFIT!
Uninstall:
Reboot to recovery;
Restore backup;
Reboot to OS.
WIP.

Any feedback?
Just thought id point out a bug. Rotating the device stops the process/makes it invisible. ie; press run tabetizer, rotate the device, no text anymore just the run tabetizer button.
Nexus 7:
Unlock/Root
PRIME D
M-Kernel
PimpMyROM

Don't rotate UI is not ready at all, sorry. BTW, rotating will cause patching run in background thread and you will not know when it stops.
Patched, rebooted, installed update.zip, rebooted - and it looks great!
So, so far - so good!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this effort!!!!
Same here patched fine flashed zip and no errors so far looks nice, good job AuxLV

AW: [APP] Tabletizer Alpha 4 (2013.03.02)
Works without problems on cm 10.1 latest nightly.
Just thought I should mention. Running the apk in landscape mode with full battery charge (not plugged into wall) caused the screen to timeout and the text of the process didn't scroll down. So now I can't see when the !FINISH text pops up. Figured I'd give it at least 20 minutes to be on the safe side.
How long does tabletizer usually take to finish the process?
Thanks for your work!
You are the man aux can't believe you got it working!! Gonna try it on aokp
My n7 took about 7-10 minutes to complete. I made sure to not let mine go to sleep (had the time out issue on his alpha3 version so knew better). Might want to add to the directions just to disable rotation and lengthen screen timeout.
Only oddity is it still goes back to default wallpaper (funky green grass) but that really affect nothing as you can then set the wallpaper as you desire after boot.
Excellent work, you da man!
On a side note, many status bar and notification drawer options in cm10.1 don't work, and tabletUI uses a different quick settings model so those don't work either. Please note, this is NOT a criticism of this mod or thought of as a bug. It is just an effect of enabling tabUI. To me I happily accept this trade off.

It worked and I got a tablet UI (I'm running cm10.1 nightly). When I open notifications and press the button for "clear all", it clears them all. If I press that spot again after the notifications are clear, I get "Unfortunately System UI as stopped".
Worked great for me. No fc's yet. Looks nice, especially with apex launcher in tablet mode.
Edit: It seems to shave a bit off the sides of app icons in both home screen and app drawer.

Yep, I know. Settings are per device in CM. If I had N10 I could port these parts easily Maybe I'll think about some way to make a proper settings.
