I purchased the Xperia Arc when it came out and was very excited with my first Android. I have played around with it and have flashed the North American Generic firmware (and rooted it) rather than keeping my Rogers branded one. Anyways I have done some studying and found out I cannot unlock my bootloader via the sony dev unlock key (unlockable bootloader is a no). I have read people have used Omni or SETool 2 (paid services) to get it to unlock. I have read that these paid methods required the TESTPOINT trick. Some people have unlocked their phones using the Testpoint method on s1Tool, which is a free application. I know that the s1tool supports the xperia arc, but I would like to know if the s1tool can unlock the bootloader of my arc. I have found little to no information on this. Many sites show instructions of the procedures and even pictures of the testpoints on many xperia models, including the arc, but the instructions are intended for other xperia models. I don't think I have ever read anyone even mentioning the arc unless they are quoting the s1tool's log.
I would appreciate any information about the s1tool and arc.

I recently bought Xperia Arc S but it is sim lock to my service provider in Bulgaria. Can I unlock it for free or I have to pay on omnius server. And also I want to unlock bootloader but in service menu it is writen BOOTLOADER UNLOCK ALLOWED NO.
I'm fairly certain that yes, you have to pay to get Sim-Unlocked. I'm not all too savvy yet on technical phone stuff, but I'm fairly certain that you'll be stuck with a locke bootloader.
I have a Xperia Pro on fido running xperia ultimate HD (stock kernal)
Sony's official boot loader unlock said that I can't unlock my boot loader.
SE1 Tool does not work.
Allendrissemo (sorry of I can't spell) told me that my phone hardware is too updated (12W24) and it cannot be unlocked.

Is there a way to unlock my boot loader? I want to install CM9 but it comes with a custom kernal. And for that I need am unlocked bootloader. If you have a CM9 with a stock kernal, would it work? Or if I have the stock kernal then can I flash that after flashing CM9 and would it work? But I can't flash .img files cause I don't have fast boot.

I was in your situation 6 months ago and I just went back to Fido and exchanged the phone within 2 weeks of purchase (using an LG Optimus 2X now that actually has an unlocked bootloader). Like you, I also tried to get Alejandrissimo to unlock my bootloader - didn't work!
Currently, only stock-based custom ROMs can be flashed on a locked bootloader. This applies to all brands, not just Sony.
Even SIM unlocking is in doubt here - I personally couldn't SIM unlock my Xperia via a purchased code (the site cellunlocker.net has never failed me before, except on this one Xperia model). The new security MCUs after 12w14 are tight bastards. Other users were successful with SIM unlock via code, but that did absolutely nothing to allow unlocking of the bootloader.
moral of the story: no matter what country you live in, never get a carrier branded Sony handset! If you really must have a Sony model, the only way to guarantee an unlockable bootloader is to get the stock, unbranded, unlocked model which is expensive.
In other words, if you gotta get a carrier subsidy, avoid Sony. Otherwise, Sony is great at supporting this kind of stuff, too bad most users can't enjoy it due to stupid carriers.
So, there's no hope? I always thought that this XDA community, and its vastness of knowledge would have a solution.

I am planning to buy the Sony Xperia ZL and i was think that in future i might root it and load custom rom in it.
I wanted to know if the international version of the Xperia ZL (with no carrier lockings) is by default unlocked or not. And if it is locked then is it possible to unlock it?

if it's unlocked you probably can unlock the bootloader (sony is very developer friendly, I guess it only makes sense for them to lock bootloaders because of carriers). For the branded versions it all depends on the carrier. I have a branded Xperia ZL from Vivo (ZQ here in brazil, actually) and it has a unlockable bootloader.
I would recommend for you to go to a local store and check it it's unlockable it's simple, just follow these instructions:

note this paragraph:
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your device by checking the service menu. In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu. If you have a tablet, click here to learn how access the service menu.
In your device, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.

Also, remember to backup your TA partition before unlocking, or you'll lose your DRM Keys and your Bravia Engine forever (and they will not work again even if you relock your BL).
No need to unlock it unless you plan on flashing any non stock kernel based rom.

I have a ZL, it's NOT my daily driver (my Z1 is), and it is carrier unlocked but the Bootloader is locked.
The phone itself was IMEI Blacklisted as I bought it off Kijiji, and the original owner tried to blackmail me out of additional money months after purchase. I let him blacklist it, then went and bought a Z1. I want to use my ZL as a testing platform for ROMs and Kernels and customizations and what not.
Problem is the ZL's Bootloader is locked, and I can't flash the custom ROMs and Kernels (as is my understanding of unlocked bootloaders).
Is there any way to forcibly unlock a bootloader?
The ZL is currently rooted on 4.3, with XZDR. I have long since recovered any data and stuff on it and am not afraid to wipe it multiple times or anything.

There used to be an exploit called Test-point for 2011 Sony Ericssons.
However, it doesn't exist for current Sonys.
Sorry to say but your bootloader will remain LOCKED till someone finds an exploit.
