Internet Pass-Through Unsuccessful... - HTC Wildfire S

Been having issues lately with my Wildfire S, which is deciding to misbehave...
When I am at home, I often connect the phone to my laptop and enable the Internet Pass-Through option to take advantage of the faster net speed via the laptop (my network (Vodafone) only registers on E and not 3G or H).
Most of the time it works perfectly fine, but recently it has been failing to connect to the PC, but HTC Sync works 100% fine everytime.
Any ideas?
Phone has been debranded to European 1.33.401.2 from the standard Vodafone OS (of which I cannot find an RUU for - any suggestions or links to that would be amazing).

Orbit as modem for Laptop on hols?

Peoples,
I would like to set up my Orbit to work as a modem for my Laptop whilst on holidays ie use it to connect to the internet etc
Question is how can I do same, and the best method given that my laptop has bluetooth and wifi (or direct cable connection?)?
Many thanks
I assume you're on O2 and don't mind paying for GPRS roaming while aboard, which I assume your holiday is also aboard.
You can follow the below link from O2 (setup for windows) which tells you what username/passowrd, phone number and ips you need to put in the settings.
http://www.o2.co.uk/assets/O2HybridNav/Static-files/PDFs/Windows manual set up instructions.pdf
as far as the installing the modem goes, turn on bluetooth, discoverable, and your PC should see your phone in the bluetooth browser and you should be able to add it as a modem.
Thanks for the reply humps
...will try here (UK) first, but back in Australia will use a local SIM for data and calls....cheers
It's not that hard..
You simply need to pair up your orbit with the lappy... the blootooth should detect and install various components (modem etc)... but the one you need to use is Bluetooth LAN. On the orbit, go to intenet sharing, make the pc conenction Bluetooth PAN, and hit conenct - I've not tried it on USB, as the bluetooth is perfect...
Then, just double-click the bluetooth LAN connection on the laptop, and it should piggyback on the back of the orbit's GPRS connection.
USB is easy, start Internet Sharing in the Programs menu, tell it what connection settings to use, select USB, then touch connect. Plug the cable into the laptop and your done.

Except it runs the battery down very quickly. USB will charge the battery whilst you browse.... But other than that it is fine.
i was wondering is it possible to share ppc's wifi connection through usb to a lappy without wifi capability?

It might or might not work though!
This really gets me in the UK... I have hundreds of mins free calls yet get charged sill money for going on line GPRS.... When away its cheeper to plug into a phone line and go on dial up and the same speed.... why hasnt someone come up with a way of using the phone as a 'modem' old skool style. that way i could use the phone call mins and pay for the on line time rather than kbs
Interesting thought GPRS v GSM
Have you tried settings..connections, add a new connection and just specify 'Cellular Line' arather than GPRS...
You'll need an ISP with a dialup number, but it would count as a standard call.
Problem, of course, is that most ISP dialups are 0845 numbers which won't come out of your call allowance, but if you could find one with say an 020 number, you may be getting somewhere (line spped would be v slow, but it would be good enough to download mails and then read them offline)

Wi-Fi Disconnects

Hello,
I have an issue with my TyTN that's been bugging me for some time. I've searched the forum with no avail.
Everytime I connect to my college's wireless network using PEAP authentication (WPA2), the wireless connection is dropped after a couple of minutes. From then on, I can't connect to any wireless network (the list of available wireless networks is empty even though there are access points around me). I have to soft reset to get it working again. I never have this problem with my router at home. The problem is reproduced both using then newest WM6 ROM from HTC and the i-mate/Telstra WM6 ROM.
Anyone can help?

[Q] Bug with Froyo portable hotspot?

Hey guys, I've activated the Froyo Sense wifi hotspot feature, and while my XP laptop can easily see the network and connect, it can't actually receive any data. I've checked the HSPDA on the phone and it's fine; but trying to view a website on my laptop in Firefox when connected just does work, it just keeps saying 'looking for', e.g. 'looking for google.co.uk'. I'm on T-mobile UK in case that's relevant.
Does anyone else have any issues?
Make sure that you have DHCP enabled and also automatic DNS detection. For me (Vista laptop, phone on Vodafone NL) it works fine.
And it may also be that T-Mob is somehow detecting what you are trying & then blocking it...
In the end I ran Windowx Xp network diag repair and that finally seemed to fix it. Weird, never had any issues with any other hotspots I've tried using! Very strange, although I did notice the IP address Froyo gave my laptop was exactly the same that my normal router serves up, maybe this was the issue and Windows just got a bit confused, poor thing...

[Q] Desire's internet Unstable...disconnect on itself?

[Q] Laptop says connected to Rooted Desire but can not access internetc
