sim unlocked telcel? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys
if i bought xperia play from telcel mexico, and then sim unlocked it with a code from a website, would the phone then be considered an unlocked phone, and therefore can unlock its bootloader?
thanks

It seems that it won't work. I read a post of someone saying that it has to come pre-sim unlocked to get unlocked bootloader

I have paid for sim unlock with cellunlocker.net just waiting for code now. Are you sure i cant get fastboot when i unlock sim lock? Please dont tell me i paid for sim unlock and now i still wont be able to get fastboot

We must tell you the truth: unless the phone was bought sim-unlocked from the factory, you won't be able to use fastboot. Phones bought to carriers can't access fastboot even if you sim-unlock them later.

Hi, can you give me the link to the unlocker at [email protected], I am not finding any sim unlocker in US for the phone from Telcel.

if you get sim unlock it will not unlock bootloader but if you unlock bootloader it will sim unlock
I mean when unlocked via test point

The answer is no, with the unlock code you can use the phone with any carrier like movistar, iusacel, unefon, telcel etc, but it doesn't unlock the bootloader.
The Xperia Play model from Telcel it's R800a, the only way to unlock the bootloader from R800a phones is with software like Setool or Omnius, those softwares need credits to unlock the phone
Here's a video to solve some frequently questions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn-Vubgka1M
If you want to unlock your bootloader, you can do one of these:
- Buy credits for Setool or Omnius and follow youtube tutorials for these softwares
- Contact this forum user Alejandrisimo, speaks English and Spanish, he can help you to unlock your bootloader from Remote Desktop (obviously for $$$, he use one of these softwares and need to pay the credits)
- If you live in Mexico City, you can go to Cell Phone Plaza ("La plaza del celular"), in some of these business offer sim unlock services using Setool software (if you watch the video, you will notice that using Setool software for sim unlock also unlock the bootloader). I unlock my bootloader of my Xperia Play from Telcel in one of these business

Unlock the phone

hey guys, ive been reading a few places and read that you need to unlock the Bootloader to unlock the phone, is that true or can you unlock it using a Code? I plan to buy this phone soon and would probably end up using overseas hence the questions. Thanks
What do you mean by unlock the phone?
If you mean to root it, then no, you do not have to unlock the boot loader.
If on the other hand you mean unlock a phone from a specific carrier, then I truly do not know... bought my own phone carrier free.
[EDIT]
And now I saw that you will be using it while traveling overseas, so I suppose you mean unlock the phone from a specific carrier
[/EDIT]

thanks
The only way to unlock a usa phone (verizon or att) right now its through Alejandrissimo over in the general forums (I think...)
I don't know if once you unlock the bootloader it can change carriers...

In my case I sim unlock my phone w/o unlocking my bootloader. I dunno in r800x & r800at.. But as pax said, you can try to contact Blagus or Alejandrissimo.
You can both sim unlock without unlocking the bootloader (with a code you can buy online) or unlock both Sim and bootloader at the same time thanks to Alejandrissimo.

Possible to unlock bootloader of unlocked R800a?

Hi, I have checked around xda and have not found the answer to my question so my apologies if I missed it during my search. I have a Rogers branded R800a Xperia Play. I understand that carrier locked plays can not have the bootloader unlocked. However, I have found someone who can carrier unlock my phone for me (Use it on foreign networks). If I get my phone carrier unlocked would that allow me to unlock the bootloader myself or do I have to go through someone like Alejandrissimo to properly unlock the bootloader? Thank you!
Only factory unlocked plays can use the official unlock method, if you paid to get your device sim unlocked, you would still have to pay for a remote bootloader unlock.
By the way, when you pay for a bootloader unlock, it also sim unlocks the device, so paying for a sim unlock first is a waste of money.

Ok thanks for your help, I guess I'll pony up the cash to get the bootloader unlocked remotely.

[Q] Sim/Bootloader Unlock

Hai!
I have a question:
I have a Xperia Play that is Sim Locked and so i cant unlock my Bootloader.
My question is, if i pay my cellphone company to Sim unlock my Play, will i be able to unlock my bootloader after that? Or unlocking the bootloader only works on phones that are native sim unlocked?
Thanks!
It is still possible to unlock the bootloader of your phone as I have a sim locked phone but unlocked it and unlocked the bootloader altough to do this you are going to have to sim unlock your phone with a software like omnius which uses a testpoint connection which gives you the option to unlock the bootloader of your phone it will not work if you unlock your phone using a unlock code.

[Q] Rogers Sim-Locked

I'm kinda new to Xperia Play, I'm a proud owner of a Xperia Arc.
Nevertheless, the Play in question is Rogers sim-locked, I'm from Brazil, and I want to use a "Vivo" sim on the phone.
My question is: If I simply flash a default firmware via flashtool on my Play, I'll be able to use another carrier sim or i'll need to pay for the unlock code in a third-party site.
Thanks in advance.
You'll need the unlock code, flashing firmware wont help you. However you could also opt to get your bootloader unlocked instead which will also sim unlock for you. The difference is a sim unlock will cost about $12ish whereas bootloader is closer to $24ish. However with an unlocked bootloader you can run unsigned kernels allowing you to overclock, undervolt, easily root, install custom ROMs and more. If that all means nothing to you just do the sim unlock, just giving you the options.

I think if you have Alejandrissimo unlock your bootloader, it also unlocks the sim.

[Q] If I root my phome will it also get SIM unlocked for all carriers?

I am portuguese and I bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play which is SIM locked for TMN this means i can't use my Vodafone SIM card on it.
Since all my friends are Vodafone I'd really like to use my Vodafone SIM card but its sort of expensive to get the unlock code so I was thinking that maybe if I root it maybe it would also get SIM unlocked so I could use another carrier's card.
Nope
.nope rooting your phone just gives you extra privileges but it doesn't unlock your SIM... Unlocking your bootloader unlocks your SIM but you have to pay for that to

You do not have to pay to get your phone unlocked if its a 800i. you can do it directly from Sony's website. If you have a US version of the phone then yes you have to pay. tho i have the 800i and unlocked it my self directly from Sony's Developer side. it's free so assuming you have to pay for it is wrong in some cases ! when it's infact free just as often
