Swype 3.5 with English/Greek [root] - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Since many of us Greek users have a problem with the lack of Greek language in newest Swype, I am making this dedicated thread so that people can easily find the solution as well as to resolve future problems we might be having!
This should work for any ROM
Download Swype.apk
Download LibSwypeCore.so
For Greek language to work, you have to select French language in Swype settings. It is named French, but it is Greek
*Do this using a file explorer that supports root operations (my favorite is ES File explorer - go to settings > advanced > enable root operations)
Note: I do not know how made the modded files but I really appreciate his work

I really don't know!
What matters is that Greek works

do we have to have the mobile rooted first?

Swyped from my Galaxy S II using Tapatalk

Why don't you make a .zip file so we can flash it using CWM? Or someone who knows about those stuff.

Sorry but you are not allowed to distribute Swype unless it's embedded in a ROM
this is the Swype policy and XDA policy as well

[APPS]Working keyboards for most EU countries (JPY)

Seems that there're always someone missing a language in the keyboards for new ROMs... I've gathered working keyboards tested on Darky's v7.7, and to me it looks like most European countries are in there.
Install with rootexplorer.
Unzip the the files in a folder on your sd-card.
BACKUP ORIGINAL FILES FIRST!
files in sys-app goes into /system/app
files in sys-lib goes into /system/lib
Open rootexplorer, go into "system", click "mount R/W" in upper right corner
AFTER you've backed up the original files, find the unzipped files on your sd-card and it's just a question of long press the files (eg. AxT9IME.apk) from from my .zip file on the keyboard you want and select copy, enter /system/app for .apk files, "paste" and let it overwrite, and /system/lib for the .so files.
Take them one by one if you're not used to working with rootexplorer.
When you're done, click the "mount R/O" in upper right corner and your done.
REMEMBER.. you can do serious damage to your rom if you delete or move essential system files.
This is at OWN risk!
If someone is willing to make a CWM zip-file please do, I just like the rootexplorer way better.

Normally I can always find something I don't use in the system directory. A widget or a program... (on the Desire I always removed games like Teeter and programs/widgets like Stocks) Maybe you could look through the directory and find one or two things to remove, then try again. Again, make sure you're in R/W mode.

Predictive Keyboard Spanish WP7

Friends, here I bring a breakthrough ... install the architect to achieve predictive Spanish (rom is for those with no alternative in English language).
It is very simple, install the xap (need to have the phone unlocked), after installing the program will touchexplorer to my ringtones folder and rename the file, sticking out the extension. wma
would file this name: dictionary.0409.dat I cut and pasted in the windows folder of the phone (asking whetheryou want to replace and say it did) .
Restart the phone and ready ... the Spanish dictionary ...
I can pick up other languages, but for now only supported by windows ...
I read his comments, I hope you find it helpful.
Greetings

When I've explored the windows folder (with touchxplorer), and there are only two files with the name dictionary...-> one ...0407... and other ...0809... but not ...0409... Could you tell me what can I do?. Thanks a lot and great job.

good afternoon
The application installs the folder / My Rintones / if you do not have is not correctly fitted. Has the phone unlocked? chevron to use it?
Hello again. Thanks for your answer. Yes the phone is unlocked with chevron and the folder name is 'My Device/My Documents/My Ringtones' (in the phone). But the problem is I don't have the archive 'dictionary.0409.dat' in the windows folder, I have 'dictionary.0407.dat' and 'dictionary.0809.dat' (maybe english and german), when I install the aplication the archive 'dictionary.0409.wma' isn't copied in the phone, nothing is copied... Thanks a lot
Hello. Excuse me I forgot to execute the program ChevronWP7 Ringtones, now I see the file 'dictionary.0409.dat.wma', but as I said to you I don't have the file 'dictionary.0409.dat'in the windows folder, I have 'dictionary.0809.dat' and 'dictionary.0407.dat', then can use the file ...0409... as a dictionary? Thanks again
Excuse me, I forgot a step ...
After installing the application, go to the menu of installed applications and CHEVRON RINGTONE appears and you click on ... doing that you add the file to the specified folder.
Sorry, did not understand your problem ...
Strengthen me you could do
Greetings

rename the file, but that time the numbering indicates the language that replaces ... In your case you can rename the 0407 or 0809
example, the renamed file change 'dictionary.0409.dat' for 'dictionary.0407.dat' and overwrites
Now it works fine, I have english and spanish (instead of german). Thanks a lot
can anyone post the english dictionary? I forgot to back it up... Now i want it back since its only in spanish now.

Greek Text Prediction for Gingerbread Keyboard

Hello all,
I recently became a ZTE Blade owner and I decided to flash it with the latest CM 7.1.0 RC1 ROM, only to find out that the stock Android keyboard does not yet support text prediction in Greek. Since I didn't want to install a third-party Greek IME from the market, I decided to inject a Greek dictionary found in a previous CM release (6.1.2) inside the already existing LatinIME.apk.
Other than the addition of the Greek dictionary, this LatinIME.apk is just like the stock one found in CM 7.1.0 RC1. It was decompiled/recompiled/signed with APK Manager. I don't know if it's going to work on other devices/ROMs, but you can try and share your results.
UPDATE: Apparently there was a minor problem with the keyboard, causing the "&" symbol to display as "&amp". I corrected it a couple of days after posting the APK here, but I forgot to update this post. I have now uploaded the correct APK and updated the link below, let me know if it works.
How to install:
1. Navigate to /system/app using Root Explorer and copy your existing LatinIME.apk to a backup folder in your SD card (just to be sure, should things go wrong).
2. Use Root Explorer to mount /system/app as R/W and then paste the new LatinIME.apk inside this folder. Change the file's permissions to rw-r--r-- after pasting.
3. Reboot your device and go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Android Keyboard > Input Languages. Under Greek, it should now say "Dictionary available".
Download Link:
https://rapidshare.com/files/1386317323/LatinIME.apk
Works perfectly with Cyanogen 7.03 and wildfire.
Thanks!
Works Great on HTC Hero running Elelinux-7.1-Hero-Custom-v2 (Cyanogenmod 7.1 based)
A.I.type Keyboard will support Greek text prediction soon
We are releasing Spanish and Hebrew today. German and French next week. Then Arabic, Italian, Portuguese and Greek (in no particular order). So we hope to support Greek within a month and a half.
They keyboard itself already supports Greek, but doesn't provide text prediction, corrections and completions in this language.
FYI.

Fantastic work
Works really well with my Acer Liquid Metal
Thanks

[HOWTO] Get your native language dictionary back in custom ROMs

Hi guys.
This is my first contribution to XDA, so I hope you'll like it and find it useful.
After searching thoroughly through the forums and Google, I couldn't find how to get back my native language in a custom ROM, but finally found a *very* easy way. It's weird no one mentionned it anywhere before.
While it might seem obvious to modding gurus, it was not for me that just started modding my phone.
As you might have noticed, there are a lot of custom ROMs with Sense 3.5 these times. But the original stock ROM being chinese, there are problems with the languages dictionaries, word-prediction and spell-check. I tested it on MindHacker's mod, but it should do it on any of them of course.
Here is an easy way to get your native language back :
1) Delete /data/data/com.htc.android.htcime/udb
2) Find a suitable HTC_IME.apk
For this I recommend extracting HTC_IME from another ROM. I myself deodexed a n european HTC MARVEL Gingerbread 2.3.5 stock ROM to retrieve it. Edit : upload of the file failed because it is too large, and I can't post external links. Buuuut you'll find it on comax dot fr slash HTC_IME.apk
3) Copy it to /system/app with your prefered method. I recommend using ES explorer.
4) Make it executable. In ES explorer, long press HTC_IME.apk, go to properties, permissions, and set them so that the user can execute the apk.
5) Reboot.
6) Go to setting, and set them accordingly. #For me it's working just like it used to on the stock ROM : French as the only choice in international dictionary (I don't need to switch to write in English...) and English in the second language prediciton.
7) ???
8) Profit !
Does this work with CM9

[FILES][DEV] translated framework and apps from verizon 2.3.4 + translatorscript

first things first: always do a backup before, this files are for testing / development only!
you should install the bootmenu dettofatto posted in order to do a restore
if your phone doesn't boot anymore.
Bootmenu thread
atm i am trying to build a fully translated rom with the stock blur apps
from 2.3.4. on top of dettofatto's rom but after testing a little bit i've
found some issues and i want to fix them first before i release the rom.
the issues are:
-after updating the google search you'll get a force close when pressing
search button in the app launcher, this problem is also with the original
files, so if anyone knows where to find the eventhandling let me know
-after wiping the phone with cwm almost all social networks disappeared in
the account settings and the social network setup doesn't work anymore,
at least in the german translation ... so it only works if i give you my /data backup
which isn't a good solution ;o)
files that haven't translated yet:
BlurUpdater_VZW.apk
BuaContactAdapter.apk
Cmas.apk
ConnMO.apk
EncryptionSettings.apk
GlobalNwSwitch.apk
LAWMO.apk
LocationConsent.apk
MotoAtCmdQcPlugin.apk
MotoVzwAtCmdPlugin.apk
PhoneConfig.apk
PNI-Moto-2010-09-17.apk
PNI-Moto.apk
ProgramMenu.apk
ProgramMenuSystem.apk
QuickTutorial.apk
Vvm.apk
VZWInstaller.apk
but i think all the verizon stuff doesn't need to be translated...
i've also wrote a quick and dirty translatorscript, read the readme in it
first to find out how it works and what it does.
btw: the most files have the following languages: en, de, fr, it, pl, nl
translator script, translated framework and app files:
THE FILES
have fun with it
last but not least: thanks to dettofatto and to all the creators of the tools i've used
To translate dettofatto's rom in italian, i have token string*.xml of pro+ and copied all strings into string*.xml of gingerbread rom
Now italian is at 99,9
Tnx to dettofatto
Edit:
i don't understand how i can use your script.. in notranslated dir i put in original apk.. and in traslated dir what apk must i put in?
translator software is never as good as handmade translation, but nice try....

did you even know what the script does?
translatorscript sounds like a automatic, crappy translation. if it works well, iam your biggest fan
only want to say that i like your intension and i´m waiting for translated german language on 2.3.4 german pro!
maybe it´s very useful to take the translation from the pro+ like hnktc already said!
did i undestand you right..you wanna make a stock 2.3.4 rom for pro with german translation...
For putting home made translations..
Copy and past the same file (example: settings.apk) in nottranslated and in translated.
Copy your home made values-xx folder (not past, copy only for now...)
run "run.bat"
wait, see the script and wait some seconds
go into /translated/decoded/settings.apk/res
past your folder (values-xx) now (overwrite)...
wait...

i thought about making a rom for the middle european main languages ...
but to be honest ... i doesn't think its worth the afford, since there are
some things broken and i'm not in the mood to fix things that even
broken in the original 2.3.4 files from verizon ... but maybe the
translated files can be used by others to create a fully functional rom
