Thanks

wow that skin looks amazing...im actually in the market for something of this nature right. thanks for the informative review

Looks really nice, but no protection to speak of.

Looks nice, but doesn't seem practical!

Actually it provides quite a bit a protection. I've dropped my phone before and its been fine. Not as much as case protection, but, not as bulky either...

Its very practical. I've had a similar skin on my phone for a few months now and the best part is you can STILL use a case on top of it if you so choose. That way no dirt particles can get into your case and scratch your phone...

I don't know what kind of protection people are looking for?
I have had invisible shield as well as clear coat... and I stuck with clear coat for my Atrix because your finger will slide much more smoothly across the surface of the phone. Pinch to zoom would always be tedious with the invisible shield.
The only protection this offers is scratch protection. If you need something that's shock absorbent, then a case is probably the way to go.
The best way to prevent an accident from happening is to be abstinent in the first place though

Sorry for bumping a dead thread, but i just ordered this skin from Amazon.com and have a question about it, and didn't want to make a new thread about it.
is there anything preventing me from using this screen protector, AND my hard Speck case? i want the most protection possible without making my phone too bulky, and this seemed like a good idea to me. i don't see why i couldn't, but would just like some clarification. i still have time to cancel my order, after all.

There are a couple references to doing that in the posts above yours.

[Q] What's the thinnest case for HTC Desire?

I've searched a bit online, but can't find the answer. I have a case, but I think it takes all the beauty away from the phone because it's pretty fat.
What are the thinnest cases for the HTC Desire?
Thanks in advance.
I like the stock Desire leather pouch, it doesnt add anything on thickness.
I actually meant a plastic/rubber/metal case.
Google "Stealth Guards"
They're the kind of screen protector like stickers that cover virtually your entire phone.
Got one on my desire. Feels strange and makes the phone look a bit tacky and cheap but does the job (and is really thin)
There actually giving them away for free as well (you just have to pay p+p)
What if you drop it?
Do check out 'Case Mate Barely There' case for HTC Desire, it fits your requirement well.
thx. you have that one?

Yes, i'm using it and am pretty satisfied by it.
I also have the Barely There Case Mate and I love it.
The quality of it is great.
If you don't want to pay the monies for that case, you can visit netimes.com and find something similar there.
Like this:
http://www.netimes.com/shop/rubberized-back-cover-for-htc-desire-g7-a8181-p-2625.html?cPath=80_753
search on youtube, i got mine (a transparent thin rubber one) after viewing a video there
I also have got the Barely There case-mate. It has several scratches on it already, so i'm very happy not having them on the phone itself!
FYI: It came with a screenprotector, so the whole phone is protected since the case only covers only the back and edges...
if you want protection and yet invisible case, try iDefense

Video Review: Otterbox Commuter Series Case For Galaxy S2!!!

Hey guys,
Super excited to bring you the full review of the Otterbox Commuter series case for the Galaxy S 2. This case met and exceeded my expectations, definitely recommended. It is super protective, clean and feels great in the hand. You can watch the full review below:
nice review mate (yet again) you are a good talker on camera do you do them off the cuff 1st time or is there much editing
about the case , i think i prefer the casemate tough . same sort of style case yet doesnt seem to have as much silicone exspsosed to attract dust and also seems to fit a bit tighter to the handset then the otterbox .
The top bit that wont lay flat would annoy me like it did you so thanks for pointing that out .
nice review mate keep them coming

Many thanks for the compliments. I usually make a mistake here and there but nothing major, if you look at some of my older videos you will see it's just a matter of keeping at it and practicing haha.
I've got a Tough for the HTC Sensation and I can relate to what you mean, the Tough seems to cover up more of the Silicone, however the only thing I'm not a big fan of is that the Tough leaves the bottom portion very flimsy.
Thanks again, more videos to come!
wow mate keep up the videos, love the content, thanks
I actually don't have the raised silicone at the top that you complained about. It may be because your phone is White and modded that its dimensions differ from the original galaxy s2

Someone commented stating that as well, it may be because I have an SGP Glas screen protector which adds some thickness.
I have the same issue, and it doesn't have a screen protector.
This case is perfect without the front silicon.

Thanks for letting me know that. I was starting to think it was my SGP Glas but now that you're experiencing it, perhaps some cases have their silicone a little more stretched than others.
FYI, some people were wondering if/when Otterbox would release their Defender series case; my contact said this:
Also, to the best of my knowledge, we will only be making a Commuter Series for the Galaxy S II, not a Defender Series as well. Sorry to disappoint. If that changes I will let you know.

Hi Ploone,
Awesome reviews you do here! Glad to see you like your Otterbox case as much as I do. One thing your review doesn't cover (it didn't really need to) is the included screen protector. Here is my short review of that:
The included protector appears to be there for the sake of being there. It isn't sticky, which is about the only pro I can think of. It is a fingerprint magnet. It's finish is one that not only do fingerprints look awful when the screen is off, but actually interfere with the colours of the screen when it is on, mostly when viewing lots of white. It is hard to tell if it is interfering with my touchscreen, I really do think that it has affected sensitivity just a bit, but that could be a placebo.
All in all, if you are cheap and anal (like me), you will find yourself using it because it was "free" with the case. I do want to look into getting an SGB Glas protector, but don't want to spend another $35 on that, and then get a 32gb class 10 microsd at another $70+ lol this phone is costing me too much money!!!
Or maybe I'll live with it as is

Hopefully Trident Cases makes one, they usually take their time to release a case (as they did with the Nexus S) but they are good quality and I've been pleased with their products.
Thanks for the nice review. IMHO the Case-Mate Box is probably better as the four corners of the SGS-2 are protected by the hardcase as well. The Otterbox seems to protected the corners only with the silicone parts.

[CASE] X10 Best Case Poll!

I have been through many cases recently with my x10 including:
Alumor by Capdase
Edge by INCIPIO
Commuter by OtterBox
Silicone/Plastic Skin by (unkown)
Invisible Shield by ZAGG
I found that all of the cases were good in their own ways but had their downsides obviously.
a) Alumor, very snug design it has a great metal backing for excellent protection of the phone and really nice rubber/silicone inside for shock absorption. The rubber around the keys felt a little thick and I found myself often doubling click a button to get my desired keystroke. I found the case a tad bit bulky but obviously spared no cost in the protection department. I really liked the smooth feeling of the metallic backing against my hands. Overall a great case for in-and-out of pocket use. The rubber eventually peels but it does NOT discolour.
b) Edge, extremely tight fitting which leaves little room for screen protectors. But this tight fit ensures a small fitting case making it less cumbersome. Direct access to all of the keys and speakers was a big plus for me, it really made it feel like I didn't even have a case on my phone. A big downside, I thought, was that it covers up the notification light entirely which I consider one of the main reasons why I got an Android phone. Overall great case except for the lack of notification reminders.
c) Commuter, tough like a rock this case hit the ground many times and I was damn glad I had it on because it takes a lot of hits! Again the rubber sheath around the phone left me disgruntled when pressing the volume keys for example. It's a great case for anyone really worried about damaging their wonderful x10. Of course this great prtoection comes at a cost; the Commuter is by far the bulkiest case out there. The rubber innards serve as great protection but I feel like they didn't spend enough time really trying to get a tight fit around the x10. Overall great case for those worry-warts!
d) Silicone/Plastic skin, this was actually my first case and I am not a fan of silicone/plastic cases. I found that they discolour easily, they turn your pockets inside-out when you check your messages, and the protection is minimal. There is just not enough between the phone and the ground I drop it on to really save my phone. I suppose it's better than nothing though. Keys are hard to access through the silicone/plastic even harder than the rubberized bodies on the Alumor and Commuter. Overall it's not a bad alternative if you don't really want a heavy duty case.
e) Invisible Shield, probably a dream come true to anyone who absolutely despises cases. I had a back and front protection on my x10, and I do believe there is an entire body cover package. The invisible shield almost melts to your phone and becomes part of it, the design is fantastic from protection of scratches and nicks. Unfortunetly this isn't a case at all. It's great for scratches, etc. but contributes a minimal amount if you ever drop it on the ground. Zero protection of the corners of the x10. Overall it's the best choice for those who don't want a case.
Alright there's my little rant on cases. Sorry if this has been done over many threads and posts but I thought i might shed some light on the topic. Hope this clears things up for any skeptical people out there.
But the real question is...what's your favourite case?
Leave your awesome responses in the comments and please leave your opinion!
i've got one from unknown brand, hard plastic or something like that, and it's perfect, the buttons are completely accesible because they're not covered, and also it doesn't turn my pockets inside-out. I've also used an invisible shield, which is very good indeed, but the only problem i found was that after some time it starts to get dirty and out of the phone, so i have to remove it and replace with new one. i decided to use the plastic case and the only problem i have is the phone now is not as slim as it is without, like 2mm more than before, but is no problem
Sounds like you've got yourself a great plastic one, very interesting how the buttons are not covered! Maybe ill look around. I'm currently using my Edge and it is great I find. If you ever get the chance or have a little extra money you could try it out.

I've got the Otterbox Commuter. I'm not overly worried about breaking my phone but it has saved it on a few occasions. I personally don't find it as bulky as others might but I do agree that the rubbery part could form more nicely to the phone. the top part of the rubber is much looser than I'd like.
@Pawnty, I totally am with you the little slot where the notification light cut out is seems to be incredibly loose. I thought mine was just maybe a deformed one and I got unlucky. Good to know I'm not the only one. Overall though it is a great case IMHO.

Also as a recommendation I would try the Incipio Edge its really great, that is if your looking for a switch or just an alternative.

Hi people. Great thread! I've been searching for this for a while.
I'm thinking about buying a case for my x10. I've already dropped it once, resulting in a broken screen, and I'd really like to avoid having that "accident" twice.
Since I'm from Argentina, I would have to buy it online and have it sent, so I'd really like to be sure of what I'm buying.
I've checked all the ones you mentioned, and I'm still trying to decide between an Edge and a Commuter. However, I wanted to ask you (warning: girlie question ahead): aren't there any cases that come with designs? I don't mean colours only, but pictures or logos or something extra? Something to spice things up! I love my x10, but I'd really like to have something more... bazzinga, let's call it!
Thanks for the post, it's been really helpful!

Video Review: Casemate TOUGH case for the Galaxy Note

In summary it is a fantastic case and the only drawback is the fact that it hand't been released earlier.

How thick does it make the device now?
It's not actually that bad to be honest. It gives it a "nice and comfortable" feel

How about when you put it in your pocket? is it still comfortable in there? I use TPU cases right now, and they're fairly slim as they are. But I never feel comfortable with them if I were to drop my device. They're just good for scratches, not for falls (which never happens, but I'm sure it will happen sooner or later).

It fits into my pocket alright a nice fit without making it look like i am "excited" . I am 6'2" however so my pockets might be slightly bigger. With this I literally have no worries about it dropping. I probably don't even need the screen protector on the device.
If you look on my youtube channel there is another case review up from casemate too and the phone does seem just as secure without the added bulk.

I just love the case because it is soooo comfortable to hold. I had it on my GS2 and I couldn't wait until casemate released it.
It would be worth trying it if you get the chance you won't regret it

Sure mate, might buy it later i guess...
Its always good to have choices..
I have a TPU gel S-Line wave case on my Note right now.
I intend to buy the Case Mate Tough, but there are some things I want to ask you about.
How does it feel when you press the power / volume buttons? I mean... do you feel it, or it's like... erm... dang. The feedback, is it good or bad?
Also, how "slippery" is it on the top/bottom edges (where the polycarbonate shell isn't holding it as tight as on the sides)? Bad enough to "slip" off a bit when you take it out of a tight pocket, or even when you drop it...?
---------- Post added at 11:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:57 PM ----------
Oh and one more thing (not likely to be the last )... Did you get a screen protector inside the package? The store where I'm about to buy it from claims there is one in the package, although they don't mention whether it's made by Case-Mate (do they actually do screen protectos?) or some other firm, or if it's clear or matte or whatever...
The feeling is really good I loved it. The button feedback is great. I buy tough cases for all my phones as I love how they feel. The buttons are easy to press and the phone stays clean without any dirt getting in between the phone and the case.
With regards to screen protector, no there wasn't one and I am not aware that casmate do do any screen protectors. I usually go for zagg ones as I like them the most.

Thank you for the answer!
Then the store that is selling the case probably includes a crappy screen protector in themselves . Or CaseMate started to add this recently... who knows.
I'll buy it on wednesday. Hope I don't get one that has askew cut-outs and such, haha .
My case arrived just today!
It had a screen protector in the package... which was probably added by the shop, since the package was not sealed anymore and... oh well...
The screen protector was probably good, at least as good as those cheap ones you can get for a dollar a piece, but I f**ked up at installing it. I was planning to go down to a shop and buy a 3M Vikuiti screen protector (the vendor installed it, perfectly), anyway.
-----
The case is... well, it's bulky! It's really good, but installing it is a bit... well, it's hard. I did some drop tests with it, and the buttons were slightly off, also the lip... required some extensive pulling-with-teeth .
I'm dissapointed by the fact that they didn't add a few extra stripes of ABS on the top and bottom.... without those, those two sides are flimsy and easy to get off, you know... Anyway.
Also, the hard shell doesn't perfectly fit over the silicone glove, at least on the top side... but it's good enough.
For this kind of price, I was expecting utmost perfection, but it's good . To be honest, the S-Line wave TPU case I had before felt better in hand - also had better grip. Or perhaps I just need some time to adjust to this new case...
Also, hate how the silicone is a dust magnet.
-----
Anyway, this case is overall good. Definetly protects the phone well .
I used the case-mate tough case back when I had my Galaxy S and loved it! It offered outstanding protection from bumps and knocks so I purchased the case again for my Note. Used it for a few months but have since moved to the Mercury case. What made me change was the difficulty I had taking the phone out of my pockets. The textured surface of the case is nice to hold and feels good but it's too clingy to clothing, magnified by the size of the case's surface area ( probably why I never had the same problem with my Galaxy S). Still use it every now and again though.

Poetic Affinity Case Review

Got my Poetic Affinity Case in today and figured I'd write a quick review. These poetic cases are very similar to UAG in looks and design but for 1/3 of the price. They are single peice hard poly carbonate and very ridged. Overall a nice design with a clear back to show off the beauty of your aluminum backed phone, offer a nice lip around screen for medium drop protection. My only issue is that the buttons are a little stiff but I suspect they will break in over time. I'm satisfied with my purchase and feel like it was a really good deal at around $10. It plays well with my spigen crystal screen protector and offers a good grip and feel in hand. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask. Sorry for the quality of the pics all I has was an s3 to take them.
how is the grip on it?
I had the Spigen Bumper Premium and it was still too slick for me..
Right now i have this case.. Zizo armor.. Super grippy.. but had to modify the power opening.. plus it squares off the phone and doesn't really show the HTC Beauty..
i got a Poetic Affinity case, it's a PIA to take it off if you want to, after the second time i took it off never put it on again, using Orzly FlexiCase now

in all honesty the case looks and feels good, great grip, my 2 issues with it was the taking it off because its harder "plastic", and the other issue was that the case doesn't exactly fit on top of the back of the phone, so it gets a lot of dust under there and you're gonna want to clean it.
If you can manage to take it off better than i could i would recommend the case, makes the phone a lite more bulkier but shouldn't be a problem, it wasn't for me.
I just got the Spigen rugged armor today, it's really great too, using it now!
IMO:
Poetic: good protection and good looks, still showing off your metal
Spigen Armor: good protection and good looks, no metal show off
Orzly crystal: not as good protection (thinner) but still good, and very transparent
Sorry for mentioning other cases on this thread but those are the 3 i got and i can give my opinion on

First Impressions:
Good:
1. Case feels premium.
2. Phone has great grip and texture.
3. Cutout for charger seems to be large enough for all my chargers, but will test more later.
4. Clear plastic is thick and doesn't have any tinting.
5. Cutouts for camera and speakers and mics seem perfect.
6. Buttons work great and have grip on them.
Bad:
1. Headphone cutout is small, should work for standard headphone plugs, but for a computer speaker plug in, it will not fit.. i may need to modify.
It will be interesting to see how the case does after a few days of testing... hopefully it will hold up as I really like the style and feel.
Thank you.
Shadows?
Came across this case the other day in my internet travels looking for something similar to my Supcase Unicorn Beetle Hybrid for my M8. The only case SC has for the 10 looks like a gawd damn brick. Ok for some, just not me. So, my question is, can anyone please confirm whether photos taken in this case cause any kind of blur, or shadow, from the cut out. I'm not talking about the known issues with lens flare here too, just to clarify. I've never owned a clear case but have heard of some that do cause a shadow (I am assuming a reflection from flash off the clear cut out).
Cheers.

since they are completely cut out, should not have any interference.

only complaint after 1 day use was the headphone plug too small for the larger plugs.. like for computer speakers.. so i used a round file and widened it..
so now its perfect.. great grip. love how it shows off the phone.. slim and shaped like phone.

That's exactly what i'm looking for. Thanks for the replies J4G, and the review.
Hey man, I was just about to purchase from Amazon, thought i'd read through some of the reviews and some people are advising where the camera cut out is, the case sits up off the phone a little (i.e. not flush with phone), allowing debris in through the cut out. Looks flush from your last pic. Is this true?? I really don't mean to sound pedantic want to make sure I'm happy with case before I pull the trigger cause there's none to be found in Oz and I don't want to have screw around with returns.

from what i can see, that does appear true... I haven't seen much dust and debris get in there.. however i have only had it on a few days. :silly:
I will say that a lot of people said they are a pain to get off.. however I can attest that mine is like any other case.. it does hold on well, but just peel back a corner and then work on another corner, it pops right out.. so should be easy to clean..
