Video Review: SGP Glas Screen shield !! - Galaxy S II Accessories

Hi guys,
Got my hands on the SGP Glas and wanted to throw up a quick video to show you all what it's like. Super easy to install, fits great on the phone and shows off the Super Amoled Plus display perfectly. Does show fingerprints but much less than the naked screen since it has a coating on it. Overall, I love it.
Check out the video:

Thanks a lot for the review! You really made it easier for me to justify the amount you have to spend for such a screen protector. Now I can order this without worries besides trying to choose a case to match it still xD.

Thank you for the review as well, I will think about it, since it is readily available here in Hong Kong.

Just wanted to thank you for the review and to say they you're a great on-screen speaker. Well Done!

we all know you've already bought the wedding ring.
One thing, is the oleo glass less prone to finger prints than most screen protectors? I currently have the steinheil crystal (something) protector, and oils/fingerprints are in full bloom.

Def buying, thanks!

Great review!

It's better at repelling that the Crystal Clear and the naked screen. It is not as good as the Ultra optics BUT it is much easier to clean, the Ultra Optics clings onto the grease really well once it builds up.

Thanks Ploone, by the way, I'm from Frisco, though currently in Hong Kong.
Sorry, I meant that I currently have the Ultra Optics protector. Does the Glas resist oil/prints better than the Optics? Because the Optics is CRAP in that regard, it is pretty nasty, and very hard to clean off the oils without a microfiber cloth.
Once again, thank you for your video, you have sold me on the product. I just gotta wait for HK to stock up.

Plug the phone to charger and test can you use the phone like normally would?

Yeah, been experiencing those issues. Impossible to do anything on the phone, can't scroll, tap - seems like the phone is laggy but the moment you disconnect it, works just fine.
@chiefroastbeef Coolio, I forgot to change my location though - I used to live in Rowlett, now I'm in Las Vegas lol. Glad to help

Did they give you any coupon discounts that we can use?
After all this screen shield is quite expensive

That's interesting. I've seen the same symptom when charging from a/c using a cheap usb cable.... I wonder why that is (and if, hopefully, that's the reason your seeing this with the glass shield).

I hear it has something to do with the electrical discharge being so low that the touchscreen is not powered correctly, however I don't see why the Screenshield would affect it.

Just basic info: I am using Samsung's original wall charger. When charging is on, you can't use drop down menu and screen is 99% unresponsive. When phone is fully charged, all is working. You can keep charger plugged in and touch screen works again. SGP screwed this one.

Hi guys, I just bought the Glas, it is indeed nice, and adds a slight but noticeable weight to the phone (after all it is glass).
I do not have any problems with the touchscreen sensitivity with the Glas on, I am using a Amazon Kindle usb charger, with a normal usb->micro usb cable with it. I've also plugged it into my Mac Pro, and I do notice a decrease in sensitivity, normal scrolling around isn't a problem, but typing on the keyboard becomes a problem, because some key inputs would not register. So all i gotta do is man-up and press the keys like Chuck Norris would. Not a big problem, since all other touch screen input still works.
The Glas looks very very nice on the phone, I think the colors are even better than the SGP Optic protector, or any other screen protector I've had on. It repels oil very well, I am very happy overall, other than the price.

[Q] Screen protectors

Hi all,
Is it suitable to use a screen protector (e.g. Brando) with the Wildfire?
I'm wondering whether it reduces the touch screen's sensitivity, reflection , ...
What are you using?
I've got a Brando screen protector for my HTC Touch Cruise (3 years now) and I'm pretty happy about it. The protector looks pretty scratched and greasy but when I peak under it, the phone seems perfectly clear.
So what are your opinions? Thanks
I have a Zagg Invisible Shield on mine ant it`s great. The sensibility is only slightly reduced, you don`t even feel it`s there. But that depends on the type of protector you`re going to use. Mine does not interfere with the viewing angles ot luminosity/contrast. If you want to see more pictures check my blog.
My wildfire is a pretty rugged phone, i dont think it really needs screen protector. On the other hand, my htc desire wouldn't last a month without the ZAGG invisible shield, or is it maybe the desire costed me double?
I think the Zagg is good in application mine had no bubbles the next day but using Swype is a really drag ! literally too rubbery I'm afraid
Any suggestion on a good protector that works well with Swype ? I'm in UK

Ok Alex will see how I go ,only had the Zagg protector on for a couple or three days
Mine took about 10 days in order to smooth out. As long as you installed it properly, you should be fine.
I've heard good things about this Brando one which has a matte finish so no greasy finger prints or reflections. I'm thinking of getting one if I can find it for sale in £GBP
http://hemorrdroids.net had a review of one on their Youtube channel.
Try phantom skinz, can't even tell its there, and I use swype! Little expensive, worth out through!

Can somebody please recommend me some good screen protectors from ebay (by posting the correct link)? I found many of them and I don't want to buy some bad ones...
i dnt think the screen protectors affect too much. mine came with my case all for $12, which is considered cheap in NZ. n it works pretty good
whatever you do don't get privacy screen protectors, the ones i tried were just a mirror finish, they look ridiculous, screwed up colours on screen, made it impossible to see anything outside, and made my sensors play up( my soft keys wouldn't light up). i'm like kevin just using cheap ones off ebay and they are fine.

[Q] ZAGGsparq 2.0 + sgs2?

1- thank you for your reply.
2-what kind of bad experience did you have with it?
I work a lot and i'm always playing music and other apps on my phone so my battery runs out quick, do you you have any recommendations on portable power?
it's a pain in the arse to put the sticker on, zagg is basically a sticker for the lack of better analogy
it's not easy to apply, and if you make a mistake, it takes a lot of work to fix it right
the feel of the rubber like sticker makes it really bad to do things naturally on the screen, if you apply it to the screen as well
now all that was in relation to their skins protection stuff
your Zagg-plug is a whole different level, so you might get lucky and it might actually just works right.
it's just a big chunk of portable battery after all, is hard to go wrong with that

oh i see, I'm mainly looking for some feedback on their portable battery chargers.
there's an existing topic about that already http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329494
well that post is about some other type of battery pack.
the zaggs battery pack its actually 6,000 mAh, (they also claim that their device can charge a phone 4 times before you need to recharge the battery pack) and only 45 $ (on ebay), i just want to get some feedback from people that have used, i want to know if it really does what they say it does and if it works well with the sgs2
IMO i find a solar powered ones to be more efficient, as it can do both, solar and plug in to the wall
with the one you are investing on, you can only plug it in to a wall for refill
the Zagg screen protectors for the sg2s actually work very very well
i use one on my phone.. as well as the back cover
EVERY Zagg screen protector ive ever seen put on is riddled with so many bubbles its annoying to even use the phone .... BUT .... Every single bubble disapears on its own ( without massaging the screen with a card or any of that nonsense ) within 3 days. my Zagg screen protector was annoying for the first 3 days but now you cant even tell it is there... it has a very natural smooth feel to it, not rubbery unless you accidently get your nail into it then your nail catches ( but doesnt damage the screen protector )
I have a Zagg Sparq and the GS2, haven't used them together though, I could try. My roommate and I both got Sparq's and his was defective right out of the box. From what I've read this happens A LOT from Zagg. Honestly, I don't like them after that whole experience (it was meh). I'll test it out maybe tonight though when my battery is dead. I'll also be receiving this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005K7192G soon and doing a full review for XDA/my site.

While the Zagg Sparq 2.0 worked amazingly well on my iPhone 4 (I got 3 full charges to 100% out of it and atleast 4 hours of runtime for each charge), it's UTTERLY USELESS on the Galaxy S II.
First of all, even though I connected it to the "Optimized" USB port, the SGS2 drained the battery faster than the Zagg could charge it!! I plugged it in at 95% and began using the phone. 3 hours later the phone was down to 60% and the Zagg battery was DEAD (All 4 points depleted). I got another 1.5 hours out of the phone battery.
Just carry a second battery for the SGS2.
meh
Yeah, I would have to second that notion - go with a second battery. I'm using it at we speak, and it doesn't do that great of a job. It might be because my unit is defective, but the sgs2 not only charges slowly but uses up more mah in the process. Good luck getting two charges out of it.
Also, I believe it works best when plugged in to "general" port, as opposed to the optimized one.

I have no doubt that it is not an original Samsung battery but it has been good. I've used it a couple of times but my advice would be the anker battery seems to be better quality but I will do a side by side test when both have been charged and discharged five time. (wasn't sure if you meant the white anker battery or the knock off Samsung lol)

No I live in Canada as you can tell by my information, most of these are located in Hong Kong, and Korea the only one from Canada is the GLASt screen protector ( you could've also noticed that they are all form different sellers )
I noticed you bought 2 screen protector, a SGP glass & Bulletproofbrand. Do you use them both or just SGP one?
the Bulletproof SP looks interesting

I ordered both at the same time and got the GLASt first, so that is the one i currently have on. I received the bulletproof one about three days ago. It seems to be of good quality and maybe just a touch thinner. The only thing I noticed is that the white has a slight shimmer to it, like specks of glitter. The Glasst has been excellent and i have had it on for over two weeks and not a single scratch on.
Since I haven't yet installed the Bulletproof one its hard to recommend one over the other. If you want a nice invisible protector go for the Glasst but if you want something a little funky try the bulletproof. As for installation I can't comment but the Glasst was pretty simple. I have one small bubble that isn't noticeable.
I can post some pics if you would like of both of them. I'm just charging my camera
Some pics would be nice. thank you

No bubbles at all. Lay it on and bubbles get sucked out, really interesting to watch.
We've had our S3 for a week now and the curve is not as severe as you think, it is extremely minimal.
Does it interfere with touch screen responsiveness? Just considering how thick it is compared to other screen protectors. Does it distort the screen at all?

99% of the time is works flawlessly, usually the screen will not respond if you're doing something very precise, but it doesn't happen often. The thickness is comparable to 4 pieces of paper. No screen distortion at all.

Its suppose to be the same as having no screen protector because of the liquid glue they use in between the glass of your phone and the glass protector. No actual testing since I wont have my phone until mon
I can confirm it is working, Withestone Dome screen protector, fingerprint reader works as it should, it was a bit tricky at first but then after few hours it is much better and is getting better with every minute. It looked like a perfect install to me (no air bubbles or anything), but the fingerprint scanning became barely usable even 24 hours after applying it.

Then it got better and better after few hours. Don't know it might just me getting used to it but i think it works much better now. I have x2 thumbs and x2 additional fingers done and all are working well.
I tried again with he second screen protector and it seems to be working much better. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't let the liquid sit long enough before the first curing process. Glad it is working now though.

I tried again with he second screen protector and it seems to be working much better. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't let the liquid sit long enough before the first curing process. Glad it is working now though.
