Word processing and samsung keyboard dock - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Accessories

What is a good/the best program to use for word processing? Id like to use the tab as a substitute to my laptop for a lot of my word processing.
What is a good/the best program to use for word processing? Id like to use the tab as a substitute to my laptop for a lot of my word processing.
Also, has anyone tried the Samsung keyboard dock? It is a bit pricey. Does it offer anything beyond the keyboard, such as ports, etc? Any real advantage to it over a Motorola Bluetooth keyboard, or even a universal Microsoft one?

What type of features are you looking for in Word Processing?

As for the dock or bt keyboard, I'd probably go for the bt setup. The dock seems to be a bit cumbersome to be carrying around everywhere.

Is the docks only added benefit is that it charges the tablet?

I use Documents To Go, and Quick Office HD.
I can pretty much open and create any word document, that will in turn open up just fine on my computer.
The same pretty much applies for documents that were created on my computer.
I have come across a few documents created from a computer that had advanced features, that did not work too well.
For the most part, it can handle all of the basics.

I noticed today using quick office hd that on large documents there is severe lag when typing.... Real serious. Is this a problem with the app or lack of power in the tab?

So it appears that this is a problem with docx files, and present across apps and devices. A 25 page docx file causes unusable lag, while a 120 page doc file is perfectly smooth.

Not quite what I was hoping...

I use my 17 inch laptop (Windows 7) all day and wondered a long time if a tablet could work as an occasional laptop replacement for conference trips, working on documents at a cafe, etc. So far, the a100 has been great for email, netflix, music, calendar, fb, and the like. But it just comes up short for Word-like functions (typing, editing, PowerPoint and pdf's). I have bought Docs To Go, trialed Quickoffice, use Kingsoft, but they are all so clumsy and awkward. I don't think the formatting is very good on any of them. I use a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard, so typing isn't really an issue, but the apps are so limited. A tablet so far just hasn't been what I hoped for, or adequate to occasionally replace my laptop in the main use I wanted it for. Other than that, for the most part, I really like the a100.
Does anyone else share my experience/perspective?
Would going to a larger tablet help (don't really want to, but would be willing to consider it)?
Any opinions??
More simply, would a larger tablet work better typing Ms Word compatible documents? Anyone have this experience?

Larger or smaller, you'll still be limited by the quirky app workarounds, at least for MS Office. You CAN use the web UI for MS Office offered through MS's SkyDrive. Works great. Still isn't exactly like a full inatll of Office but it's really close... Much closer than the 3rd party apps.

Tx Redneck,
i went to download Onlive Desktop and it says 'Your device isn't compatible with this item'. I think it requires a 10" inch screen minimum for compression. At least that is what I read by one user.
How did you get it to work on the a100?
I downloaded the apk from the website and works nicely. A greaaaat app.
Ok, I finally downloaded it and now to learn how to use it. Thanks for the suggestion!
If you are doing a hard core word, spreadsheet or presentation editing no tablet can satisfy you even large or small even with ipad premium apps. Maybe wait till a stable windows 8 powered tablet is released.
If Im in your place and I will need to make an occationally hard core editing I'll Just leave my 17 inch laptop on and connected in the internet then I'll just use Team viewer to remotely controll it and do the editing I needed.

[Q] iPhone users. What do you miss?

*****UPDATED 11/30/12*****
tl;dr -- It was the best freaking decision I've ever made in my cellular life.
Things we miss:
- iMessage (Use something like Kik as an alternative)
- iLife and iWork for iOS (Various replacements. I started using ePrint by HP for my wireless printing needs. Works almost as well)
- Game Selection (I work on my phone, so playing games doesn't affect me much, but a lot of the core games are still there)
Things you gain from the switch:
- Bigger screen for easier reading.
- Battery life is omg good.
- The cameras are just as good in my opinion. Low light shots are grainy.
- S Pen is really useful for taking notes in a pinch. Pull it out, jot the note, put it back, note autosaves.
- Other S Pen functionality is really nice. Things like previews in the calendar, cutting out parts of the screen to save in notes, etc.
- Performance is bar none better 10-fold perceptively. I never have a moment of hesitation on my phone.
- Tops out at 128GB (Eat that 16GB iPhone 5)
- Size doesn't really hurt your pocket that badly. Bigger screen catches the bosses attention. I have had more than one comment at work about how I take my job seriously being ready for anything like that.
************************************************
I have an iPhone 5 presently and have been debating for several days now whether of not I want to get the Note 2. I have watched Phonedogs comparison and read article after article and it feels like the phones pretty well break even. So I thought I'd ask some former iPhone users about their experience with their switch.
I have Apple TVs and Airport Expresses all over the place. I stream things almost exclusively while I'm at home. I also mirror my phone to the TV at night laying in bed (doing that now typing this). That being said, I know android has apps that support airplay but not necessarily a screen mirroring solution short of VNC that would require a PC hooked up to my TV and a whole lot more of an inconvenience to get fired up.
I don't know what android has that is directly on par with iWork for iOS. I love typing up documents, syncing them to my phone with iCloud, and being able to edit and print them from my phone wireless on practically any and all wireless printers regardless of brand. iWork for iOS works completely and with a full feature set that I don't ever remember finding in Documents To Go. Has this improved at all?
Not knowing much about the Android ecosystem, what kind of apps are equivalent to iMovie? I use that quite a bit and am curious what android solutions match that in ease of use and functionality. I can't stress enough that when I ask these comparison questions, I'm not trying to prove one better. I'm actually wanting to make the switch. I'm just looking to be more informed about what I'm loosing and what I'm gaining before doing so.
What have you iPhone users missed about your iPhone since you made the switch?
I miss iTunes and some of the apps from the appstore. However, it all makes up it when I remind myself that "can't do no work on a 4" screen"
I switched. No regrets
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
In my opinion, the only thing missing on Android is the robust game/app selection and consistency in layout/design. I have an iPad 3 anyway, so I have the best of both worlds regardless. The iPhone in both 3.5" and 4" alike simply isn't useful for my needs anymore.
PS: I have a WDTV Live that will allow the equivalent of "Airplay" without any hassle through the Note 2. In terms of exclusive apps (e.g. Garageband, Numbers, Pages, iMovie, etc.) there is no equal. If you are heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, it may be somewhat difficult to switch.
I know the Note 2 comes with Polaris Office included in the stock ROM. Probably won't touch the iWork suite in terms of interface and usability, but give it a try on a demo model and see if it may work for you.

I thought i was the only one who misses that little feature. Aside from that, I currently own both phones and theyre both fantastic but sadly I prefer my Gnote2 over my iph5. The big screen is a huge plus and the S-Pen is really neat. But I do like the apps more on the iphone.

I'm not so deep I can't get out. I can return the Airport and iPhone still and swap for the Gnote2. I need to google around more about DLNA devices because streaming is nice, and if there's a.... 'cleaner' product of method of doing it, it may be worth it.

This can be done in 2 ways on the GN2. One wny is to switch on the feature in the settings under "Motion"/"Double Tap". Otherwise, assuming the long text is in a browser you can use Boat Browser (which is very customizable) and has this feature.
Regarding AirPlay and the other things mentioned in this thread, can you not simply keep you iphone as a Wifi only media player/streamer?
I use my old Galaxy SI as such with Spotify. Without a Sim card and a 3g data connection the battery can last almost three days also

The question is per user. I prefer the non-locked down system of Android. Watch a lot of movies and the iPhone has to be jailbroken to do anything other then basic usage. XBMC on my Note2 + MHL adaptor and no rooting. I love the customization.
Another reason I switched was because of iTunes. What a mess. I have a lot of mixes for music and iTunes splits it up. I prefer just being able to dump on my sd card.
Only thing I miss is the gaming apps. But not that much that I would switch back.

Does it work for the browser? That's where I need it the most.
I've owned and used as my main device every iphone up to the iphone 5. I'm loving the Note 2, but there are a few things I miss:
- Overall simplicity. There was a lot of handholding in iOS that I didn't even necessarily realize was happening, which I miss. Biggest/most annoying example so far: sending videos via MMS or email. Unless you have the "limit size to MMS" or whatever checked when you record the video (which would mean a crappy source quality in the video, should you want to use it for anything other than an MMS), you can't MMS it to someone (and unless it's more than a few seconds long, it'll likely be too big to email as well). There are some apps out there for transcoding the video to a lower bitrate, resizing, etc, but this is a royal pain to have to do any time you want to send a quick video. iOS did it all automatically when you went to send the video.
- Better versions of apps. Some apps are just better/smoother on ios. Examples include facebook, Steam, The Weather Channel.
- Photo Stream. My wife is on an iPhone, and we have an old ipad that we use as a photo frame. I miss being able to easily have photos I take appear on both her phone and the iPad.
- iCloud. I miss stuff syncing with my mac desktop apps for things like notes, reminders, etc. I'm sure I could find something to get me by for the notes, and the others I mentioned would sync to a Google calendar, but still. I miss all that happening automatically.
Overall though, I'm very happy to have made the switch. There is no way I could go back to that tiny iPhone screen now.

Those are good points to know, thank you. Looking back I do remember video sending being a pain. I eventually ended up doing private Youtube uploads all the time and linking people to the videos. An extra step.
Not that I'm saying that's a deal breaker at all, but it's those little things. Does Android have a response to Photostream out of the box? If I recall, doesn't it automagically upload to Google+ or something of the sort?

Come on, if there's a way to do it and you know how, just tell the guy rather than being snarky for no good reason. This thread is obviously targeted towards people making the switch from iOS to Android, and there is a definite learning curve involved there.

It does upload to Google+, yes. I wound up turning that off, though, since I rarely use Google+. I did turn on automatic photo/video uploading for Dropbox, though, and I am absolutely loving that. I know there's photo/video upload in Dropbox for iOS, but this all happens via a service running in the background, so you don't have to have the actual Dropbox app open for it to happen.
Something else to note about the auto-upload for Dropbox (and Google+, for that matter): you can use that to share videos/images easily. Only issue is the person receiving it has to download/stream the full-res video or image, and you have to wait for it to upload before you can share itg. Still much easier than transcoding just to send a video, though.
I'm using both....Loving both

OfficeSuite Pro 7 - Two Thumbs Up!

I keep a personal journal and really value using my N7 for quick entries. I do have other word processing tasks, but my journal is the high-frequency doc for me. Since the journal is now approaching 50 pages - it covers many years - I don't keep it in a "notes" app like Catch or Evernote. I like using Word for docs like this.
So, when I got my N7 I looked around for a good "Office" type app. Kingsoft Office rose to the top real quick since it's free. OfficeSuite is highly-regarded, but it costs $14.99, and I decided not to spend the money.
I've been using Kingsoft for two months now and man, does it suck. I realize that there are plenty of good reviews for that app, but those users may not be using it as frequently as me, or maybe they are working with 1-pagers. Otherwise, anyone really using Kingsoft has to run into the same crappy unstable and unpredictable behavior that I've been living with - it's so pervasive in this app. One frustrating example is the backspace function. It might do nothing, it might delete a letter, or a word or a sentence or a bunch of sentences. Then, when you begin to type the words back in that it deleted, the app will begin to toss in some parts of the words it deleted. The app doesn't reliably call the keyboard when you tap in the doc. There's more to dislike, but I'll just stop there. The Devs are totally non-responsive, BTW.
In a fit of Kingsoft rage the other day, I bought OfficeSuite Pro 7 and I wish I had done this earlier. It's not that OfficeSuite is just better, it's in an entirely different league. It's beautifully designed, the UI is perfectly human-factored. It's fast, offers every function I can think of, and best of all, it's freak'in stable - like 100% stable. Integration with cloud storage is fast and reliable.
If Kingsoft is your favorite Office app and it works perfectly for you, then life is great - for you. For me, IMO Kingsoft is not ready for prime time.
If you've been on the fence regarding shelling out the $14.99 price for OfficeSuite, I can tell you it's worth it. It really is an awesome app.

Yea, yea, yea...
I almost pulled the trigger on it back then too.
That made it harder to pay full price for it. But I am still glad I did.
Interestingly enough, I seem to recall that people who got the app on sale had to pay full price to get the update to the current version 7.x. Also, the sale app didn't include all the fonts you get with the full price version. I recall that some folks were quite unhappy about that. Could be mistaken about this though...

Not only was I mistaken about that, but when you pay full price, it appears that you still have to pay extra for fonts and dictionaries. Oh well.
If there are free dictionaries available, someone give me a heads-up on that.
Still, really happy to have this app and I am using it every day.
It really is an amazing app! I bought it back in September, when it was still version 6, for .25 and have watched it evolve over the past few months.
It's grown so much and the devs are very responsive and helpful. It's worth the full price.
Nice app. Needs PDF annotation support.
Bought this when it was on sale was able to get 7 but the fonts package was not included and costs $4.99.

Great post. Thanks. I agree with you.
STEP 1: I am using OS-Pro v7.1.1237. On the Home tab, I created a new W document. I type in a few words, nothing much, e.g. Hello World. Then I hit save, Save as, Word Document(*.docx). I keep the Untitled.docx name and save to Remote Files, Google Drive, My Drive. It prompts Save, Convert file(s) to Google Drive format? You can choose No or Yes. Up to here it works great.
STEP 2: But, then I select Menu, File, Print. I have previously configured a printer as "Save to Google Drive". This can be done using Add Printer, selecting account, checking Save to Google Drive, and Add button. After printer configured, when I press Save to Google Drive there is an Error dialog prompt saying "Could not print to PDF".
STEP 3: So, I back up, and on the same file select Menu, File, Save As, Word 95-2003 Document(*.doc). Then I finish up saving Untitled.doc as in STEP 1. This also works great. Again I select File, Print, Save to Google Drive. Now I get toast "Print Job submitted successfully".
STEP 4: Swith back. Menu, File, Save as, Word Document(*.docx). Finish up as STEP 1. Overwrite previous STEP 1 document. Again, File, Print, Save to Google Drive, gives Error dialog "Could not convert to PDF".
The Google Cloud Print feature of OfficeSuite Pro is *not* working on new documents formatted in *.docx. This problem only occurs on *.docx where every other format I tried works. I can verify other tests pass because on Google Drive there are files like Untitled.doc.pdf. I can even print the sample *.docx provided by MobiSystems. But, creating a new *.docx fails to print.
I do not understand how a major feature like printing to Google Cloud Print can fail to convert a simple PDF. Maybe the support team at MobiSystems is not capable to perform simple testing on their releases? Unsure.
I have Google Drive, but don't use it with OS Pro, so I can't comment. It really should work, so I agree with you.
I use Dropbox with OS Pro and it works perfectly. Fast, reliable, predictable every time.

Just out of curiosity, can you try the same test as above and test print to Google Drive? It is very fast, automatic and simple.
Is there a feature to print to Dropbox? Is that even possible?

Totally agree HANCOM is as close to Microsoft Office as it gets. IT IS GREAT!
i purchased the 7 pro probably like over a year. but now when i bought the pro 12.2 i didnt bother to install it because the HANCOM is freaking awesome! this is the reason why i returned the surface pro 2!
Hancom is better. Comparing it directly with Microsoft Office 2013 on a Touch screen laptop. This one is better.

I like hancom but I havent been able to look at these side by side. Is this a legitimate opinion based on using both?

Does anyone know if they will offer on the 10.1 2014? My friend wants the SP2 for PA school because of OneNote, likes the NotePro but 12.2 is to big for her. She would take the 10.1 but Office suite is just garbage.

Evernote is so much better then one note. I used Onenote first and did a lot of stuff and thought this was great, but the first issue was I couldn't sync my one note without using extra software (2 years ago), but then found Evernote and it does everything for free AND with the 12.2 it gives 1 year subscript to premium service. You can share evernote notebooks with different people ect.

Provided you don't need advanced editing features then yes.
As much as I think Hancom Word is one of the best of its class on Android a full replacement of Microsoft it isn't. One feature that may be critical for those in the market for a "Pro" product is track changes support. I may be wrong, but I can't find it. There's commenting but no track changes options. A simple test that I did was create a document in Word 2007 and saved it into my Dropbox with track changes turned ON. I then loaded that file with Hancom Word, edited and saved it, at which point the file was immediately updated in dropbox. At no time did Hancom Word give any indication of track changes being on, and upon opening the file back up on my workstation the edits were visible with no trace of the changes being tracked. To verify I deleted the edits that were made on the tablet from within Word 2007 on my workstation and immediately the changes were flagged as deleted. Back on the tablet, the markups were invisible BUT the space within which the deleted text should have been was still there (i.e. if I deleted 3 hard lines between two paragraphs there would still be 3 carriage returns visible between those paragraphs in Hancom Word but not visilble in word with review display options set to final).
Lack of track changes is not a deal breaker for me since when I travel I carry my laptop and my tablet and when I'm without my laptop its because I do not intend to do serious editing, but I could see it being an issue for those looking to replace a laptop.
To me if you must have full office compatibility get a surface pro and use office on it. This comes in second, and how close it comes is subjective based upon needs. Unfortunately there's very little information on Hancom's site to sell the product to users on its features so it's difficult for people to decide prior to purchase.
I work for Samsung and during my training on the new software they told me that Hancom office has approximately 60% of all the features of MS Office. It does not however have some of the programming features that some people may need, I have found out the hard way as a student needed these features and I was unable to help him out. Most people will use about 40% of MS office, so this over exceeds what the majority of people need from the software.
the only thing that will be better is the red line or the blue line that come under the word when you make a grammar or spelling mistake. I would love if they have it so you can type and check it later becasue sometime I have some Idea and I have to type it fast then get back and fix any mistake I made because it is clear with the line below the worlds

It has a spell checker that scans the entire document for mistakes and lets you replace them

Spell Checker
The spell checker is a bit hit and miss, if you use a word with an apostrophe in it it won't count the whole word together, ie it doesn't count the t in "didn't" so it thinks you spelt it wrong.
The major glaring omission is the lack of a word count feature! I contacted Hancom about this and they said they would consider adding it
Other than that though it really is great, far better than anything else I've tried.
I know from my experiance (cause of my language is RTL) that is polaris work perfect.
I have bought the note pro also to use excel for work so really wonder what would be the best ☺
Edit:
Just checked it and it works perfect !!!

As a writer/journalist, I think hancom word is great, and does all I need it to do. I do most of my writing on word for the mac on my desktop mac. But now I'm using the np and Hword more than I did with my macbook air that I sold when I decided to buy the np12. I'm hoping Hword becomes available for my note 10.1 2014. I use a bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth mouse when using hword. Btw, there is an app called big cursor. Makes work in hword much easier because the stock cursor disappears.

Link? I didn't find anything by this exact name in the play store, and "big mouse" seems to not work on JB+
It is called big mouse. I went searching for a big cursor to use with hancom word -- tere are many in ios -- and big mouse was the only one that fit the bill. It works with my stock np12 in hancom word with my bluetooth mouse attached and is far better than the stock cursor. However, the settings for the app don't work, don't even show up anywhere. The settings should allow the cursor to be bigger and black. I emailed the developer to find out what the problem is. Still, it's way better than the almost invisible stock cursor.

OK, thanks, I will give it a whirl.

Let's talk about DeX

Moving from Tab S2 to S4 there were a lot of changes to get used to, some good, some bad. A good change was the S-Pen. At first I thought it was a waste of time. It was very awkward for me at first, but now I use it almost all the time.
I'm wondering if DeX is another "awkward change". I've played with DeX for a few minutes at a time on my TV with and without an external keyboard and mouse, but not much on the tablet by itself. Nothing has jumped out as superior in touchscreen / tablet mode. I'll say it does work better with a keyboard and mouse, especially for Microsoft Office products that utilize "right click". But here, I'm talking about touch screen / S-Pen, no external keyboard, mouse, or display.
Does anyone use DeX as their primary tablet mode? If so please post what you think is better for DeX vs stock Android. Why are you running in DeX!, and what are the advantages & benefits you are getting?
As an experiment, I'm going to try using the tablet in DeX mode for a week. I'm sure there will be times I have to revert to stock Android, but I'll post again next Saturday to say what I've learned.
Thanks,
Joe
I've been running SystemUI Tuner beta for about 10 days - since my Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 was upgraded to Pie. I missed the WiFi indicator. So I established permissions and had everything working. The SystemUI status app was always running because it is Samsung. In DeX, I had Moon+ Reader open but minimized, Firefox Beta downloading a file and was opening ES File Explorer when SystemUI went bat-crap crazy. It started opening instance after instance and froze the screen. After a few minutes it went blackscreen with the DeX logo. The power button wouldn't reboot it. After another 5 minutes or so,it popped up a message that SystemUI was not responding. Eventually it was able to reboot and I uninstalled SystemUI.
I'd really like to get the WiFi indicator back to the status bar, but I'm nervous to risk turning it back on. It was terrifying when I was locked an couldn't reboot. I sent an email to the SystemUI administrator.
Very scary experience only a few hours into my DeX marathon.
Joe
So I gave it up on day three. Too many things missing.
1) No widgets. We've had two thunderstorms with hail since Sunday. The AccuWeather widget is too important to miss. You can use Dex Max to float widgets over open windows, but not what I'm after.
2) No icon packs. I like my icons. My desktop wallpaper is admitantly busy - a photo of a brook in Maine. It is hard to read the white labels under the icons, and I can't see a way to change the text color.
3) Locked on the default Samsung keyboard. I'm a SwiftKey user.
4) One desktop. I'm a product development engineer at a semiconductor company. At work, I have four screens on my PC. not only does this give me the ability to have multiple open documents, it gives me four desktops. The only time I'm limited to a single desktop is when traveling with my laptop.
5) Can't use extended desktop with HDMI
6) Multiple apps have problems running in DeX without being maximized. Some of this may be due to forcing apps to resize.
7) I think there could be memory issues. When switching out of DeX, every app I used while in Dex. Would be open in the recent apps windows. After a long session there were more than 30 open apps, all that I had closed in Dex.
Anyhow, it took 2-1/2 days to lose patience.
Take care,
Joe
Yeap, the random stuck screen...I had that just recently.couldnt shut down or force shut down for some time.
Also some apps wont resize at all in DeX, which is a huge pain when watching a movie and doing emails as an example.
At this point I'm using the regular screen, bonded mode.
I like widgets.
I like my swipe up and down actions.
I like my easy to get to bluetooth and wifi toggles.
I like resizing the screens to what ever size I want.
I like minimizing process.
I hope DeX gets an update, right now its not very useful for me.
KC
DeX is not meant to enhance the tablet experience but rather provide the user with a desktop-like experience for those occasions where the user would prefer to work that way....say on a bigger screen with and external keyboard and mouse for limited business/professional applications or to develop in Linux.
Works pretty good for word processing, spreadsheets and photo editing. Media consumption, just use plain Android.

I wish I could use it for word processing, but I discovered that Word can't open two files at the same time and copy/paste from one to another. This made dex almost useless for me

Thanks, but it's a bit complicated. I have Office 365 and I wish I could use it both at work (Windows) and when I have my tablet with dex. I think Samsung and Microsoft should work together to make android a platform which can really be used for business, which unfortunately it is not yet, even with dex.

I think Office on DeX is much more usable than the stock Android version. If you have a mouse. I don't understand why right-click copy / paste is anathema to stock Android. I totally agree that you should be able to open multiple documents for all the Office programs. And multiple Abobe Acrobat pdf files. It's crazy you have to open files in two different apps to have two of a type open.
Hooking up to a TV is clunky - you need the power, adaptor, bulky HDMI cable, not conveniently done. And no extended desktop. The S4 is big enough I've stopped using my laptop to remote in to my PC at work - Microsoft Remote Desktop works fine on the S4. DeX should be as good.
I've kept playing some with DeX - Desktop Browser by the same developer who does Desktop Hub, lets you open multiple browser windows - awesome feature, worth a couple-three bucks for the paid version. I may get the Pro version of Desktop Hub too, to try the start menu feature - is anyone using it? It is more expensive than the browser... $10 I think...
It has been a few months (well, more than a few months), but I have some more observations.
Quirks and oddities
So first, I now have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. It is interesting to me that the mouse seems locked to the DeX monitor, but the keyboard is active on both the DeX monitor and tablet. I have video playing on the DeX monitor and the mouse is locked to it, but I am typing this message on a browser on my tablet. It seem the keyboard follows active input windows.
Second, I found a nice perk. So I like to read on my tablet while sports is running on the TV. Typically, this is casting the Indians onto the TV via Foxsportsgo and chromecast. Browns games are harder. To get the Browns I usually need to got to streaming sites that are stuffed with pop-ups and ad bait. The best way to get video going is to use a good ad-blocking browser, and I haven't found one with built in cast. So you either need to mirror the screen (and not run other programs) or run it on the tablet. Some video sources let you run in split screen mode, others don't. So best case I end up with the game on the top third of my tablet and the book two-thirds of the screen below. Relatedly mirroring the screen, unless things have changed, is garbage -- either casting or HDMI. Casting gives the message "not optimized for mirroring".
So I tried today connecting via DeX and running Firefox Beta with ad blockers streaming an NFL game on the TV, and reading my book on my tablet, and voila! Works well!
Let me know if anyone else has found anything new.
Joe
This all may only be interesting to me, but I'll keep posting anyways ?
So two new observations :
1) DeX for Windows does _not_ work with the Tab S4. Of course, they say it only currently works for the S10, but I tried it anyways.
2) New feature in Outlook for Android inside of DeX - you can open multiple emails in separate, independent windows. Very nice festure.
