1) GB source code is incomplete and work work. HTC screwed up.
2) the source code for the GB MR was just released, the code that has been available we have been well aware of (you know, since some of us have been using it since before s-off was publicly available).

[Q] Gingerbread Sourcecode

With the release today of CyanogenMod7, (http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/cyanogenmod-7-0-released) I seem to remember that the Gingerbread source code was released for the Galaxy S line of phones a couple months back. Are there any Dev's working on Gingerbread for the Epic4g?
Facepalm
That is all.

I knew about this one but now that 7 has been released the EPIC is not being supported from what I saw on their website. Maybe the Epic4G Alpha 4 is a special project that is just not covered in the link that I provided.
Any other Devs working on 2.3 for Epic4g?
Yes, but it is a gingerbread port from the original galaxy s, since the source code for gingerbread is not out for the epic, we cannot code for much, so no developers are really going to work on making a rom for this. Cyanogen mod is made up of custom source code, so it is basically built from scratch, thats why this is the only gingerbread rom avaliable to date

Its based on the same source just doesn't have official support from the cm team yet.. they have to make sure their fixes don't break anything for other phones before they can become official, cm team seems to not want hackery, they are wanting to become a distro, not a port.. the epic team has come a long way in a short time so I don't think it will be long to gather official support, but who know...

Breaking News: Source Code Released for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
http://youtu.be/QQ_fiepb2Mc
Breaking News video by QBKing77
original post:
Hi! We just released a bit of code we thought this group might be interested in.
Over at our Android Open-Source Project git servers, the source code
for Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is now available.
Here's how to get it:Follow the instructions at
http://source.android.com/source/downloading.htmlCheck out the
'ics-release' branch:repo init -u
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest -b android-4.0.1_r1
That's it! However since this is a large push, please be aware that it
will take some time to complete. If you sync before it's done, you'll
get an incomplete copy that you won't be able to use, so please wait
for us to give the all-clear before you sync.
This is actually the source code for version 4.0.1 of Android, which
is the specific version that will ship on the Galaxy Nexus, the first
Android 4.0 device. In the source tree, you will find a device build
target named "full_maguro" that you can use to build a system image
for Galaxy Nexus. Build configurations for other devices will come
later.
Unfortunately we still don't have our Gerrit code review servers back
online. That remains our top priority though, and we hope to have them
back soon.
This release includes the full history of the Android source code
tree, which naturally includes all the source code for the Honeycomb
releases. However, since Honeycomb was a little incomplete, we want
everyone to focus on Ice Cream Sandwich. So, we haven't created any
tags that correspond to the Honeycomb releases (even though the
changes are present in the history.)
JBQ, on behalf of the AOSP team.

[kernel] ICS source codes?

Dear all,
I am the kernel developer from i9103. As both our machine and i927 shares v. similar hardware configurations, I could help to build a custom kernel with features like init.d support, rooting, overclock, auto brightness adjustment and etc. for i927.
As long as I could get the source codes from Samsung Opensource, then, I could help to start cooking for it.
As our i9103 still haven't get ICS official update (but, we get a leaked one), after we submit the ICS source codes request to Samsung, we get it! So, without any official ICS release, we can still get the source codes from Saumsung!
I have already submitted a request for ICS kernel source for Captivate Glide, so, maybe all of you could help to submit a request as well. Hope that the more the requests, the faster the release time.
Link is here:
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=inquiryView&uploadId=799
My template is here:
Code:
Dear Samsung,
May I have the latest ICS kernel source code for Captivate Glide (I927)? Thanks.
Best Regards,
xxxxxxxx
Submitted the request. Hope you get the source code soon.

Agreed, BLN is probably my most desired feature.
I guess we will have to wait for the official ICS release before we get the source code. This is the reply i got from samsung :
Dear Customer,
We can provide open source code for official release only.
You can download the source code of SGH-I927R from the site below: http://opensource.samsung.com
(search by SGH-I927R)
Thank you.

News flash, Samsung got there buts kicked by apple and didn't win the current lawsuit they were in, Thus them losing money meaning not so much hope..
Sent From My Iced Creamd SGH-I927 Cappy Glide
They're also appealing that ruling. It seems unlikely this will mean bad news for us in the short-run. Long-term it might mean they won't give us JB officially, but from what I understand our trusty developer(s) could as soon as they have the ICS stuff. Will take time, but it is realisticaly feasible.
Also, Samsung has already put in the time to create the version we've got now with ATT. Unless the ruling covers our phone specificaly we've got nothing to fear from the law suits. And even if it does cover our Glide, legally things won't take effect for us before the final ruling. According to Google Apple's claims don't cover anything they could relatively easily work around.
So, as every hitchhiker already knows: Don't Panic

Eventually we'll get ICS officially, apple lawsuit won't hurt us. Just give it time, and hopefully we'll have JB sometime in the next few months too.

Already done that yesterday, waiting for the reply now. Let's see how quickly they come up with the sources. With samsung releasing the half baked ICS with keyboard light still broken, they need to give us the source if they can't do better.

Does this mean users of primoc phones can expect to see CM9 support improve to reach parity with primou, now that the developers no longer have to work blind? I always find it amazing how much those guys can accomplish without source, so you know good things are coming now that they can see what they're doing better!
