[Q] does s-on survive reset? - HTC Wildfire S

Dear all;
If I manage to S-ON my device with XTC clip of a friend..will the device stay as S-ON if I will reset to factory settings?
Or after reset I will need to use the XTC Clip again?

You mean S-off
S-off will not reset itself no matter what you do. It is the security flag, down deep in HTC firmware, unless you manage to wipe the HTC bootloader and everything so it is basically a paperweight S-off will remain.

thx imlgl..
i mean S-OFF indeed!

That link points to the old Wildfire (Buzz). Don't confuse people like that...

Hi!!
Once you have made your device S-OFF there is no way to revert back your device to S-ON.
Please, be aware that there is a 100% software method that allow a HTC Sensation to be S-OFF and S-ON as you wish, but this method is not valid for a HTC Wildfire S at the moment, and if you try it you may brick your phone.
If you are worried about thw warranty there is no certain that if you made S-Off to your decive your warranty will be void as some devices are dispatched with S-Off.
Bye!!

Very slim chance of bricking the phone. The XTC clip and the HTC version are very safe.

As mentioned in another thread since S-OFF/Unlocking my Wildfire S A510E with my XTC Clip I have performed two full RUU upgrades including hboot and radios.
S-OFF is still there. Perhaps other's results have varied...
Check out my signature to see what I'm up to and still S-OFF.

[Q] S-OFF?

Hello,
I have a Wildfire S a510e unlocked with HTC Unlocked (code).
Put m1ndh4x8r rom on it and is working great.
Now ive read some time ago that S-OFF was only possible with a XTC-Clip
But since the bootloader is unlocked, does that mean that S-OFF is possible in other ways?
Or do i still need a XTC Clip to do so?
I want S-OFF to change my boot screen
I did search some topics but cant find the exact answer (yes/no).
Thanks.
You still need XTC Clip to get S-OFF
Have you tried this tutorial? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308169 don't think you need s-off

Looks to me like it requires S-OFF. The people who couldn't get it to work all had S-ON.

Did you htcdev your device to root?
sent from my ice cream sandwich powered HTC WILDFIRE B-)
yes it has been one of the methods i have attempted to root
Tbh mate there is no real reason to go to that boot, it won't give you anything new or useful aside from peace of mind, but, should you still want to try u think you would need to use the htcdev ruu again and lose your rom ect just remember to back up

I'm quite excited by any news of s-off. I'm quite sure that will certainly void the warranty, but hey.
any main advantage of disabling s-off?
How do i check to see if my phone has s-off?

Hi guys,
I've got an S-OFF Tegra 3 HTC One X and want to install CWM recovery and all that other good stuff.
I understand that I don't need to go through the HTCDev unlock process to flash CWM, is that correct?
I'm a complete beginner and not exactly sure what steps I need to follow atm. Would I be able to use ROM Manager app to do this?
Can't post an image until I've got a reasonable amount of posts.
So here is the text ver:

You're S-OFF, means you don't need boot-loader unlock, you have to root it yourself though, if you're that beginner, for the sake of simplicity, use any of the topics available here, but assume that your phone's boot-loader is unlocked and skip any steps related to unlocking your phone...

Sorry if I'm beeing a complete noob now, but could it be that HTC logger. The one that logs all your activity? I know something like that has been implemented in earlier HTC phones, I think android phones in general. I also think if it's activated and actually in your rom depends on the carrier.

Ok thanks. Sorry I forgot to mention that I've already rooted using the one-click method.
That would be nice. But I don't think It's that hard to flash boot.img manually.

how do i get rid of the tampered and secruity warning flags

I had to turn s back on on my phone, but now i have three flags Tampered, Relocked, and Secruity warning, is there any way to get rid of the tampred and secruity warning and change the relocked back to locked?
Are you S-OFF if you aren't check if firewater it's compatible with your device and you can S OFF I don't suggest you do this if you don't have some experience with things like this..
Can I unlock bootloader and root and stuff using the AIO toolkit, then S-off from there?

Yes you can but no guarantee that you can get s-off
So is it correct to say that if I S-off before doing any modding with the phone, s-off is guranteed? And will HTC check for S-off during warranty check?
