I recieved my notice but haven't downloaded it yet. Waiting for the best advice weither I should or not

Wifi doesn't need to be on, does it? Or will it just take a while with 3G(barely)
EDIT: Whoop, nevermind, it changed now and says the update is available. I'm probably just gonna go ahead and do it, I'm sure someone will find a way around it later on if Froyo disappoints.

I know it's not Froyo, I'm saying WHEN Froyo does come, if it is not as good as I hope THEN I will root and hopefully people will have worked around this update.
Anyway to stop this from automatically downloading to your device?

i used the CR_OTA rom to keep my root, but wife did get the notification the other night, she is using it and so far there has been no problems at all only one thing we found out is
she cant send MMS through third part apps(Handcent) it only works through stock Messenger

Thank you for that heads up, I guess I will be rooting my mytouch now. I need to use a ROM that is still stock. I personally like Sense and I'm not ready to be rid off it.

My phone was downloading it, but when I noticed that it was, I killed the process! I heard it prevents root, so I wasn't particular find of that.

The update should be waiting for you. If not, check Settings >> About Device >> Software Update.

I'm with bell and the update was 86mb.
Nice to see they didn't bother to fix the standby battery usage issue. Then again, with how much power I seem to save when I'm in service area, I wonder sometimes if its really a misread at all
My update was around a 100MB. I noticed some changed settings in the camera app, the messenger moved the attachement icon to the side instead of underneath the send button, I noticed some setting changes in the settings (or maybe I didn't notice them)

Maybe i read the original post wrong , i thought it said the carrier had released this ota, but it hasnt showed up on my phone yet.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I'm still waiting. WTF?
I had to get my update via Kies, nothing came OTA.
Not a major issue on that, although after the update was pushed, my SD card was corrupted and had to be reformatted.
So make sure you either unmount or physically remove any external SD card, I lost all my photos :\
OTA update was waiting for my sasktel phone this morning when I woke up. My phone is rooted, so I was a little cautious to perform the update, but after reading around, it just breaks root.
Did the update at work, re-rooted, and away we go.
Only problem I've noticed thus far is that it broke the auto-detect of the headphone jack on my phone, which if I went and installed my PowerAmp, would be nothing at all.
Otherwise, phone seems snappier. I'll give it a full day tomorrow with my usual routine, to see how well it performs battery wise.
OTA upgrade Crashes my Email
I upgraded yesterday, on Bell
Since then, my exchange email crashes constantly, and now my touch wiz has started to randomly crash.
I reinstalled email, and still random crashing................not sure why
Anyone with ideas ?

First, try booting into recovery, wiping both dalvik and system cache and rebooting. If this does not resolve the issue, backup device, perform factory reset and restore device.

I searched the web today as well, but did not find anything. Do you have kies installed on your PC? There was a kies update detected and an update for my phone. Attached is the kies version
just checked my phone via kies, and the up date to 4.1.1 was available. your phone must be at 50% charge to apply update. so im on the charger as we speak!!! will post results later!
I can confirm, just connected and shows the update.

So far so good! It seems to be pretty responsive, no lag as of yet , Google Now working as expected, face recognition(screen unlock) seems to be working OK, the recent apps has some additional options, when you open a file for the first time to associate it with an application is different, the pull down notification has some new options, there is this new Home Screen mode that allows you to pick between Basic and Easy mode, a blocking mode which all you to block notifications for particular scenarios you setup, and who knows what else I have missed.

Yea, I think I might be done with the custom ROMS. I was flashing my phone every few days. But the CM10 stuff seems to be pretty impressive, especially with the nightlies

Your presentation needs a lot of work.
I have encountered a bad problem. I no longer have any cell service. It just says "no service" in the quick settings. This has never happened to any phone I have rooted before.
I have been running PA but the ROM is not the issue as I have wiped and flashed different ROMs. I charged my dead phone over night and when I woke up and turned it on, there was no service whatsoever.
I have flashed the newest radios as well.
I went in to Verizon to see if it was my sim card and put a new one in. That didn't work and I'm out of ideas.
Please help if you can. Thank you.

Seems to me you did all you could. Bad luck pal.
can you see your imei number (phone info)? is it the original number?

I searched and didn't find anything. So my problem is I have a stock i317. I randomly lose service. Sometimes it's just data, I'll have 3 or 4 bars but no data. Other times it is everything just the no service symbol. I usually turn airplane mode on and off and everything comes back. Any idea what the problem could be ? I just updated ota to ucamh3. Hoping that would solve the problem but there is no change.

Some devices had internal antenna issues that required a repair /replacement ....
If a stock rom is used and the device has been factory wiped ...but you still get antenna issues ...
The device may have a problem ..
It's not uncommon ...
And if the device is truly stock and no tampering has occurred ...then the odds of a hardware issue certainly go up...g

I found what works with my phone is a quick smack to the thing. On the side or the back Im not sure I hit it a few times. Then it goes from not being able to find a network to having full signal strength. Im not hitting it hard enough to hurt it. I hope this continues to work for me.
(Update)
Upon further testing smacking it does not seem to make a difference. We are on Straight talks BYOP sim plan using AT&T towers. My wifes skyrocket does it sometimes and has Cyanogenmod Rom. And my note2 I just got and immediately flashed with Pac Man Rom does it a lot. Cyanogenmod Rom has some of Pac Man rom built in it hmm. My skyrocket never does it and it is still stock 2.3.6. Im thinking of doing a nandroid backup of my hard work setting up my Note2 and then flashing back to stock to see if it still does it. Or try to see if it only does it on a low charge. Or only wail plugged it. Or flashing a different radio, or different modem or baseband how ever you are supposed to say it.
Right now my Note2 is on baseband I317UCAMCE.
My working Skyrocket I727UCLD2.

Yea i have tried different roms now. It was official.tried a couple diff roms. Just did the new leak and sll having same problem.

RIL is like a driver for the modem, it allows Android to talk to it.
What the hell, worth a shot.
Easy fix. Set the SE LINUX to permissive. Can be done in withe x pose setting using Wanam or down loaf the SE LINUX changer app. If you have any questions I can walk you through it.

Iam having a very similar issue with my Note 2(sgh-1317).
If you could please walk me through this. Permissive and Enforced are both greyed out using WanamSELinuxModeChanger. It is rooted(CF-AUTO-ROOT), os IS 4.3, IMEI under battery matches IMEI as listed under [SettingsAbout Device/Status] as well as that listed using Android System Info from play store. Radio is "UNKNOWN", KNOX status empty
This is the 4th phone, all note 2s, that I've had "No Mobile Network" issues with since I originally got this device last Christmas(2012).
the 1st 3 were replaced under warranty by AT&T. But now I'm on Straighttalk and rooted and the issue remains.There is an iPhone 4S in the house, also on Straighttalk, that has no network connection issues at all. I have verified APNs etc etc and am at a total loss.
Any help is much MUCH appreciated.
