mini paper application problem - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

After update to Android 2.3.4. mini paper application doesn't work...

same here! ever since XXKG2 Firmware... still the same thing on I9100XXKH1 firmware.

Try ColorNote
Had the same problem a while ago...
It depends on how you use it; if you want the contents of the note to be visible at all times, use Whiteboard, a good app with widget.
If you want to make efficient notes, lists and checklists without the contents being important at first glance (with list count), use ColorNote Notes. I was unhappy about the PostIt app to stop working at first, but after all, the ColorNote thing was a real improvement.

Hello!
Ive just updated to Android 2.3.4 too. But now my mini paper applikation widget failed too
So any news on that? I dont want to use another widget for that feauture! original just worked fine for me.

Well, this happened to me as well after upgrading to KG6. Now on KI4 (and on KH3 earlier) the widget started working again.

I´m also on XWKI4 flashed from KF3 XEU to DBT... mh..

Thinkfree office on CM7? (or pdf viewer with invert+remember position)

Hey,
used to use official ROMs for the past year and just now switched to CM7. Main thing I miss is the pre-installed Thinkfree Office. I tried grabbing it from an official ROM but it seems to have dependencies on quite some stuff that's missing in CM7 so installing it there doesn't work :-(
Main reasons I need Thinkfree: Night mode which inverts colors + remembers scrolling position in PDF files.
While the Thinkfree from market has the position remembering it's missing the night mode. Other Office suits don't seem to have a night mode either.
So is there any way to get the Samsung Thinkfree version on CM7? If not, any Office suite that has these 2 features?
I second this request, i also switched to CM7 and i really want thinkfree office back.

+1. If some great guy could manage and make Thinkfree work on miui or cm7. Merci
office
i was not able to get working any of the offices, thinkfree, quickoffice, polaris which were working perfectly with amestris 5.0 ROM. Installed thinkfree lite from the Market which is working. I have tried extracting thinkdroid from froyo and installing, but failed.
Hope anyone can manage the above three working in CM7.1.
Nobody who can help with getting it to work?

Samsung Messaging has a crappy theme but it's superior to the stock Messaging app.

Superior in what way?
Thanks a lot!
The standard samsung app is better than stock but graphically deviates too much from holo.
I immediately downloaded the application that you have shown me, but unfortunately doesn't work ... After having opened app it crashes.
In particular, he shows me the list of all messages (distinguishing read from unread) but when I try to go into a conversation stops everything.
I use GoLauncherEx on Samsung official 4.0.3 rom. When the application crashes, even golauncher crashes! For a few seconds the screen is all black (it show me only tray bar)!
I know that GoLauncherEx isn't optimized for ics but is the only launcher that lets me create folders in the program list (I have much application and I need it!).
Actually ICS isn't very stable on my device and I'm almost regretting gingerbread!
I can do anything about it?
Thanks again for your support,
I hope one day I'd help forum people.

That is very strange. Which firmware did you install? I installed XEO (polish version) and didn't get a single crash or problem what so ever. I had a few problems in rooting it, though (needed to wipe it first and re-flash the orginial ICS firmware before rooting to get the root rights recognized). But once that got fixed, everything was and still is perfect.
Or maybe it is because of the go launcher ex? I was using TW the entire afternoon (13.03) without crashes. At night I installed Apex launcher as system launcher and no crashes either (one day running), very low battery consumption and awesome looks. You can add the ICS Theme Pack from kovdev to get the ICS icons.
Hello element!
I've installed the XEO firmware, then polish, just like you.
I have not done the wipe but updated via OTA.
I had already installed GoLauncher. When I've upgraded I've selected Golauncher instead of Tw.
Currently I have encountered frequent application crashes and one total block of the system. The battery, to be honest, I can not tell if it lasts more than gingerbread why I used the phone a lot for various customizations.
I do not know if the problem is that I did not do a wipe.
If he continues to give me problems I do a backup. After I install the rom again.
Tonight I remove the battery and after power on. Tomorrow, we'll update on my test.
PS The biggest problem is GoSmsPro. it sends multiple messages at one time. If I send you a message, you will receive two. I do not know how to solve.
PS2 The root I did with Odin and had no problems ...
Thanks for the help,
Hello!
As I promised you I a write updates.
I solved the problem of low stability: I made a deepclean and then installed applications without syncing (I installed all the applications manually).
Now I have one problem, the phone crashes when I try to change the background. If you have any idea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23727272#post23727272
For the rest new rom does not seem bad ...
Thanks for your help,

Hey, check it out: One so called Tim Hutt put the stock calendar, messaging, and launcher app in the market and they all work just fine for me. The apps are called "Android 4 ICS Messaging SMS", "Android 4 ICS Calendar", and "Android 4 ICS Launcher".
The only bug I have (and it's not a big one) is that the screen doesn't light up when you receive a text message... Perhaps this is because I disabled/removed the official Samsung messaging services though... If you leave the default services enabled, then the screen lights up like normal but you have to select a setting in the ICS messaging app to disable the message receiver because then both the Samsung app and the ICS app will both write the text message to the database and you'll have duplicate incoming messages. Just go to settings and scroll to the very bottom to see what I mean... Enable that option if you don't remove the Samsung services/apps.

[MOD] Google Calendar with Textview (month) - 31.05. Update

Guys, although the Nexus 7 and the GNx have almost the same screen resolution, the N7 shows events in Textview whereas the GNx shows only small lines for an event, so I modded the Stock-JellyBean-Calendar for my GNx as you can see in the attached screenshot or here at directupload:
http://s7.directupload.net/images/121119/o9bix4gi.png
For any ROM out there I recommend using the latest market version of the calendar, as this is bug fixed by Google.
But which version you take is your own choice, both work perfectly on all JB-ROMs (4.1/4.2) including AOSP, AOKP, CM10, TWRP...
Just flash the zip from CWM, but do a nandroid before (for your own security).
Update 07.11.2013:
- maintaining the newest version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47222855
Update 31.05.2013:
- Updated to new market version (v 201305280)
- CWM package
Update 13.12.2012:
- Updated to new market version (v 201212060)
- Lockscreen Widget for 4.2
- New event picker in month view (long press)
Just flash in CWM. If you encounter errors, please uninstall any previous calendar with Titanium Backup and try a new flash. The problems with my old mod were signing problems, sorry for that.
Update 16.11.2012:
- Updated to new market version (v 201210220)
- according to Google, the battery consumption should be lower
- If you don't see the calendar after flashing, please flash the first market version first, reboot, then flash the new version.
Thanks to Finner42 for this idea, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34591851&postcount=64
Update 18.10.2012 the 2nd:
- Added modded new market version (v 201210120)
Update/Changelog 18.10.2012:
- CWM flashable zip
- Changed from GoogleCalendar 4.1.1 to 4.1.2
- some small fixes with the color squares
Old (archived) files:
Market Calendar 201212060: http://ul.to/h25nmaoz
Market Calendar 201210220: http://ul.to/0p2w4aqh (don't use!)
Market Calendar 201210120: http://ul.to/mxq278r8
AOSP 4.1.2 Calendar: http://ul.to/53ih6ior
Differences between the stock 4.1.2 and the market calendar:
The market version syncs back events up to one year, whereas stock calendar syncs back to 3 weeks only (standard android behaviour). To get synced one year when you had stock calendar before: you have to delete the data in -> settings -> apps for "Calendar" and "Calendar Provider" and sync again manually after that.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you have updated the calendar via market before, you have to uninstall this update before flashing, otherwise you will see nothing. Android prefers the .apk in /data/app over any system-apk in /system/app - that is a pretty normal behaviour.
Enjoy!
Additional Information:
Just a note as some people are unsure about GApps and CM10/AOKP. This is only important for people who like to know deeper. If you flash via CWM or are on Stock ROM, you don't have to worry about this:
In every official GApps (even the newest ones) are the old sync adapters from ICS which work with CM10 calendar (and have dark colors).
The market calendar and the stock-JB-calendar have its own sync adapter included, so you should delete GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk too, when you delete (CM10-) Calendar.apk
NEVER delete calenderprovider.apk, account information and the data is stored in there!
My modded calendar has an update script which cares for either situation, so that it can be used in CM10 and/or StockROMs.
Besides: Paranoid Android users don't need the modded calendar, as you may use tablet UI in market calendar for sure.
If you like to mod yourself, here are instructions for code changes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35414528&postcount=80
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ROM-COOKERS:
Surely you may include this mod in your ROMs if you like it. I got a few PNs the last days but wasn't online here, sorry for that.
I got so much from xda and from other (real) developers, that it makes me happy if you consider this mod useful!
Added CWM flashable zip, should be easier for all of you.
Works on every JB-ROM, odexed and deodexed (AOSP, CM10...)
Please do a Nandroid before, just in case...!
Thank you for this mod. I like it. But can you please do this with the calendar from Android 4.1.2. or tell me how I can do it by myself. I don't know if there is something new in this version of the calendar but it got a new version number so maybe some Bugfixes.
According to the official Google changelog there is only a widget background change in 4.1.2, otherwise it's the same as 4.1.1
You have to modify "integers.xml" for the text size labels and "bools.xml" for general work of the new layout (in /res/values)
In addition, some things are hardcoded in /smali/com/android/calendar/month/MonthWeekEventsView.smali (text size of event time and the color squares)
In summary there's no real difference between those calendars. If I'm on 4.1.2 I will change this and update this post, in the meantime you can use the 4.1.1 with no loss of function.
[edit]
New 4.1.2 is online
I flashed this on top of the 4.1.2 Calendar update published on Google Play but did not work.
I then restored a 4.1.1 Calendar backup from Titanium then reflashed the zip but still didn't work.
I then uninstalled the 4.1.2.Calendar update directly from Google Play (not from Apps or Titanium Backup) and then it worked.
FYI.
I will update this thread in a few hours, am on mobile now.
New market calendar is already modded. If you can't wait get it here:

Thanks for this note. This is a normal behaviour in Android, I put an explanation in the first post.
Updated the opening post with the new market calendar!
Read the change between stock 4.1.2 and market version there.
Thank you for this mod:victory:
Thank you, everything works fine
Will try this out later.
Shameless post to subscribe to this thread because I'm lazy.
Also, thanks for this... Fixes one of my biggest gripes with gapps. I have a friend running cm9 on his galaxy s who is pretty outspoken about how crap the stock calendar app is... Is this apk likely to work for him?

Just flashed after uninstalling the market update, and after the reboot the market downloaded the update again and installed it. Uninstalling again fixed this, but has anyone else seen this behavior? Am I going to have to uninstall the market update often?

I wasn't trolling, it's just that I thought you were exaggerating the size of Galaxy Nexus' screen.
And by the way, they don't have the same resolution either. Nexus 7's screen is larger in width by 80 pixels.

Is it possible to have a quick guide on how to do this mod ? thanks in advance

Accuweather there, but not working.

I've honestly searched high and low for the answer to this problem, but I can't seem to be able to find it.
I have a Note II (N7100) with Telcel (México) with stock TouchWiz + root.
First of all, when I started my phone, I wasn't greeted by the typical samsung AccuWeather widget in the homescreen, and I couldn't find it in the widgets section. I thought it was a simple matter of my phone not shipping with the widget, since Telcel is very liberal with modifying people's phones. I searched for the files and found a thread where the three components of the widget had been uploaded.
I downloaded the files (AccuweatherDaemon.apk; AccuweatherWidget.apk; & AccuweatherWidget_Main.apk) and proceeded to try and place them in '/system/app/', but there were already files with the same name, but with a different extension (AccuweatherDaemon.apk; AccuweatherDaemon.odex; AccuweatherWidget.odex; & AccuweatherWidget_Main.odex). I tried copying the .apk Widget & Widget_Main files figuring that I would be able to since these had a different extension, but I wasn't able to. I also tried installing from widget.apk without success.
Does anyone know what is preventing me from using the Accuweather widget if it's already installed, or if it is indeed installed in my note II?
Thanks.
I have this exact same problem. On either stock or ARHD, the widget is there on a clean wipe but it's not available to choose in the widget drawer, and if I remove it I can't get it back.

I removed the syncing apk for calendar and then I never made a sperate installer so people could install apps that they need... I will make it as soon as I can
That would be nice, thank you.
I'm using the calendar via Browser atm, but ... kind of uncomfortable
Syncing in Hyper-Gamer 1.4
hey, just an update
since i had still Problems with the new HyperGamer 1.4 and the CalenderSync with my google account, i dug into that..
Seems that the CalendarProvider.apk is missing or removed in the System Folder.. i installed it manually, then the Google Calendar apk. now its working for me.
If there possibly were any more glitches before that you may have fixed them as well with the new rom
thx again for the awesome rom!
