I've been trying to change the APN settings on CM9, but whenever I save the settings they're not there for me to select? I've reinstalled the software and tried many things, but it doesn't work. Any help?
Im trying to use the GiffGaff network, phone calls and texts work, but I want to use data too
it is a known bug in that rom,latest cm9 already fix it but still cant connect,waiting for bin4ry to fixed it..

Hi. I recently flashed and rooted my Xperia Arc from Rogers to ICS I was quite proud of myself and spent an entire day. Anyways long story short. I've had a few issues since then.
1. My keyboard settings seem to stay the same (EG: I keep having things spell checked even if I change the settings and save them)
2. I have a notification that says "Internet & MMS Settings Could not download. Tap here to try again."
I have a feeling they are connected.
So. From what i have learned from other threads and people experiencing this issue it means my APN settings are all out of whack because of the flash to ICS. I finally hunted down the APN settings I need from Rogers on their website. And as I was entering this in. Settings crashed.
"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" I have restarted my phone numerous times and experimented with wi-fi and data being turned off/on. Nothing is helping me with the crash.
I just now also factory reset my phones settings.
How do I get rid of this error so that I may fix the problem I had to begin with?
Also... The error for internet settings disapeered...
But I still think Im unable to use the MMS etc.
No one knows how to help me out ? It must be fixable.

I am sad now. What happens... When I re flash it. And I have the could not download internet settings ALL OVER AGAIN?! I don't understand still I need a nerd! I need one now!!!

Seriously though. I don't see how re-flashing and rooting will help me T_T. If I end up with the exact same "Could not download internet & mms" settings stuff again.

after you reflash your settings will not crash when you go to the apn setting
then you have to manually enter the internet settings

For what its worth, whenever I'm flashing a new rom ( which is like most weekends) I keep a few screen shots on my sd card of my apn settings.
where I am in Australia the automatic downloading of internet and mms settings doesn't accurately pick up my carrier, so it never works for me. but yeah, i found screen shots were a handy way to keep the info handy.:laugh:
I have Problem with sending and receiving MMS messeges ...
I'm on UHD 2.0.3 Locked Bootloader ...
first I thought it's a problem from my provider .. but I was wrong ... I tried to put my sim card on another phone with same settings on my phone and it worked ...
I didn't have this problem before UHD ... but now I noticed that because I needed it now ...
so if any one have this problem and know how to fix it please tell me ...

Hey I don't know whether this will help you,but MMS sending/receiving is sometimes restricted to use of mobile data.Make sure you're not using Wifi for sending it.Also if this does nothing,then try using a Third party app like go sms pro.Lastly , you can try restoring a backup or reflashing the rom again .
You must setup your phone to send MMS.
Go to settings>"More...">mobile networks>access point names and look for a MMS profile for your provider and if its not there then push right hardware button and create new apn. You should find a setup guide on your provider site.

well I have MMS settings .. and I tried to setup new one (just like the phone I tried to send MMS with using my SIM card) but nothing worked ...
I think it's a ROM bug ...
I had this prob and fixed by going to Settings>-Xperia>-Internet settings and redownload internet and mms settings! It worked for me, if it works pls hit "thanks"

Hello, welcome to a great site with loads of info on our model, plus 100's of other android models!
1. Get an APN app from the google playstore, such as Tweakker or Offline Apn, use it to get access to the APN menu then manually add the APN settings you need.
2. You can make changes in that ##DATA# menu, you just need to get your MSL #, when you hit edit, a box pops up, enter the MSL and it will allow you to edit these fields, I only changed 2 fields in that menu MMSC and Multimedia to my carrier.

i had installed tweakker but there is not pakistani networks available in that app and about offline APN can you tell me the exact name of the app please.

no problem, cheers..... it is called Offline SIM APN Database, use the free version and hit the "search APN settings for this SIM" button, then pick a carrier (any will really work, just to get the menu) , then hit the "Go to Android APN Settings" button there a menu will pop up and you can add a new apn, enter your needed APN settings.

Thanks i have tried this app and it's not saving the apn setting saying problem in creating apn setting
and also tried APN Manager pro.. not working anyone. i i have i think there is not any option are working
it's saying " you are using Ice Cream Sandwich. change is this version no longer allow for the direct writing of APN settings. the setting found will need to be manual copy and pasted. click go to android apn settings. and create a new apn entry then press back button on your device and press the copy button next to the value on the screen. return to the apn entry and paste each value into the new apn one by one" .when i am going there nothing works there is not any option of creating new APN or anything.
find YOUR apn settings for YOUR carrier, open the APN settings menu, add NEW APN, fill out required fields, then you hit the menu button on your phone and choose SAVE APN, it will save and you will have a radio button next to the newly created APN!

tried that also. unable to get/open "Add New APN" option
when you are in the android APN settings menu, you have to hit the phones menu button, the 3 lines, it will say add new apn

i have tried all things but i am also not getting my setting done. except one thing which is upgraded OS. but i am aware that if my phone get locked or i will be unable to install new firmware. i dont know which firmware i have to install after 4.2.2. and i have not tried that before.

I would not upgrade to kk 4.4.2 to fix this issue, I personally would look into changing radios, you might also try doing the SIM unlock tutorial look for the part about making APNs stick.
Are you sure you have root permissions? confirm with root checker, root with ioroot if not

ok i will try to sim unlock tutorial and yes i am sure i have root checker installed. and rooted with ioroot..
and i am afraid if my phone get locked by trying that. i have't tried that before.
and can you tell me which method i have to try ?

Hey guys ive updated to 10 today and discovered that plenty of apps doesn't work with mobile data, including play store. Already did factory reset, everything with APN settings. Same thing happend to my mothers phone. Any clue?

I have the same problem. But it was working before I factory reset the phone. So maybe something went wrong during the process, but I don't know what.
3G or 4G is displayed on the status bar, signal is good but no connection.
Right now I am using a custom rom and no problem so far.
What is your provider?
It's Orange Polska, what rom are using? Could you sent me instructions how to get through rooting? I haven't done that in years.

We dont have the same provider. So maybe it's something about the install of the system.

A10 update change configuration of access point. You have to enter settings->Network & Interrnet->Mobile network->Orange. Then tap at "Advice" and at the bottom you have option "Access Point Names". Here first AP will be "orange Internet Ipv6" that "v6" is a problem. You can't eddit this AP, so You have to add new wth IP addresation as IPv4, not V6
