i know this is the wrong area of the forums to post this, but this is where every one is hangin this days,, so i was wondering if any one has the activation code for the deep fish browser from mocrosoft???? i got the cab from some where else, i got to the live labs site to late< and the beta had allready been closed,,, ps i have the cab if any one wants it but it needs a activation code thus my delema,, thanks for any help

Dont follow the directions you find with google (using the promo code DFPRESS) just sign up for MS beta's with your live account and then put those same details into the deepfish download section. I got a code first time and second time(2 pda's). No i wont give one to you. I dont know what all the fuss is anyway. Its not that good.

Yeah, I just signed up again today and got an activation code about an hour ago. So, I'm sure they're giving them out pretty liberally. But I'm with you, I'm not a huge fan of it (so far). It is somewhat difficult and clumsy to use. But hey, it is in it's earliest beta stages, so I'm sure it'll better later on.

Sadly that promo hasn't worked for me on any of the 5 accounts I registered for most of which were done yesterday afternoon when that was posted.
Thanks though for the assist and I'll have to sit tight for a bit until they release further codes to test with.
(This and WM6 BE 2.0 are the only reasons I may keep my 8525 and not go to the BlackBerry world...)

This new version seems to work better in WM6 ... I can now drag my screen to move the map without the annoying data/refresh errors I used to get in the last version.
Good catch.
The initial version of the program was pretty unuseable due to the error messages.
Hope this version is better!

Street view is so rediculously stupid. In fact I was talking to a director at Google a couple of weeks ago and told him to stop focusing on that poc street view and fix gmm. GMM, after their search engine and maps is probably the most useful thing they have going.
I then proceeded to show him how gmm was incapable of finding the party we were trying to go to because of all the errors. We eventually got there. This new gmm came so quick after that incident... hmm I wonder...
Seriously though, street view??? Can you think of a singe legitimate use for it beyond the cool hey there's where I used to live in manhattan?

Yes, the new GMM is nice, in that the wininet error is gone. I haven't played with it too much yet, but the one thing I DID notice is that there is still no hybrid view, with streets superimposed over a sat view.
Again, haven't played with it too much yet, but I haven't seen anything new, outside of the error fix. Has anyone noticed any new functionality?

[EDIT] Well, I clicked around with it a bit, and while I AM happy they fixed the glitch, I'm saddened that they couldn't add a few new features, for instance:
1) Hybrid view, as mentioned above
2) The ability to move it's cache to a storage card
3) The ability to preserve my historical locations, searches and directions between upgrades
But again, I'm happy they fixed the wininet glitch. And I guess ... what do I want for free, right?

Ok, heres just one easy one to explain..say youre disabled, and you arent able to get around much for certain reasons etc..would give you a chance to kinda go exploring, and see things, which you otherwise wouldnt be able to....Im sure I can come up with a few more, thats just the easiest/quickest to explain.

I'm just excited to try the new GMM.
How about a legitimate use for an average person. Everyone needs GMM, very few need street views. Street view is the kind of thing that seems cool and you can talk about at cocktail parties, but you will never use. I use mapping software nearly everyday. And if they get traffic working, could increase productivity in this country by millions if not billions of dollars.

yes. i love it. i live in nyc. now when i go somewhere that is unfamiliar i check it out on street view first so i know exactly what im looking for when i get there. i love it.
I will agree that the street view is not that important. It's more like a 'wow, this is cool' kind of feature.
All in all, this new release appears to be very stable. No annoying errors.
I think this is the future of GPS programs. It is much easier to distribute new maps when available, and add new features.
I envision a program similar to this which simply caches the maps you use most often on the device, and updates them via your data plan whenever an update is needed. If you go to a new city or state, the device starts caching the new area.
GPS works better. yey! You can now configure the GPS, so there's actually a chance of it working
new option in GMM
DTX is corrrect, there is now an option to specify which serial port your GPS is on unlike the previous version. I didnt find this useful because I always set my GPS up under Start-Settings-GPS but you do have an option now to over ride this setting.
I drove around all day yesterday trying out the new GMM to see if the WINNET error would reveal its ugly head and it didnt. I was even out in BFE yesterday and when I would loose cell coverage and then come back in the GMM went to work to catch me back up.
My only wish list thing would be to orient the map depending on which direction you are heading. This was a feature in Pocket Streets that I found very handy instead of playing a guessing game as to which direction to turn...

I'm a pretty helpless human but I still like my sig telling people to go play in traffic. I appreciate the informative radio info. I sometimes need a daily laugh so sometimes it's entertaining to read a noob thread. I think if a mod is ever elected they should create a "Noob" of the day thread. You must award where credit is due lol.

haha, i was about to ask a similar question, what do you do to keep the spark in the relationship between you and your phone? i've upgraded from a raphael and apart from the hardware differences, its still windows mobile, so the WOW factor of having a new device kind of dies off quickly because you keep doing what you were doing with your previous device.
I just went through the "What do you have installed on your device" thread and picked up a couple apps that i previously didn't know about. Other than that, still looking to put the spark back in our relationship before it gets mundane.

Roughly in the same boat as you. I had a Raphael and was swooned by the Tilt 2's screen and keyboard. I d/l Energy ROMs and try to get Sense 2.5 to function as best as possible on the Tilt 2 (I love the ROMs and appreciate all his dedication and work, don't get me wrong). Right now I'm trying to get Facebook contact images to show up when people call (it reverts to the Outlook contact photo). I attempt to get a decent GPS lock and also look for games that run well. It's a constant battle to get things functioning nicely. AND I know that Sense 2.1 runs nicely and I brought this all upon myself.

Single Program.. that will be conected to a web address, in the web address can have actual INFO of alost everything.. from Wheater, Finances, Cinema, News, Sport, Flight tickets and many more.. you name it..depends how hard you wana do it..
So imagine one single APP in your device.. when you run it.. directly to appear like web page all the INFOs and you just choice what you wana chek today.. also will recognize the Country AREA and will show you exactly the INFO you need.
For example if you are from UK... when the app load you will be able to see the curency GBP to all other.. the corect wheater for your city, what movies will be played in the Cinema, Events, News and all this for UK... so with app like this you will be always in touch you do not need any more.. to read newspapers, or surf in internet to read some news etc.
Application like this will be inovation and will change everything in the MOBILE bussines.

I'm all for it! Hopefully Google will put it on android at least, but it would be amazing to have it on wm too, the mobile web version at the moment isn't very good.

Hey are you an ID.OT ? i wrote about app idea if some developer have interest to create something like this.. what cash to make from this? i think befor to write you need to read so i think YOU need BAN not me

and - like i said - software able to do what you say is made long time ago, but people like ya are too lazy to make their own scripts to solve your wishes.

Now i understand why you been baned befor. i was thinking to not answering anymore but its seems that you do not UNDERSTAND anything, and again writing Sh..ts about ME without to know ME and without to atack you.
1st Im not a Begger and i do not begg anyone to do a script or any program for ME, i wrote a IDEA because i cannot do it by myself if i was able to do it i will do without to write here.
2nd I know there already have similar apps But this app can be even better, simple and with alot more INFORMATION.
3rd Im not lazzy and i do not WIN or do not wana WIN anything from this.. and im shocked WHY you talk me like that? explain me please HOW i will make Money if some developer create such app because really I DO NOT UNDERSTAND YOU what you mean.
The final is if you cheked my post and replyes here will see that when someone need help or have questions if im able to help or i know the answers im doing this all the time..SO IM NOT LAZZY and i do not begg anyone.
I do not need application like this and i do not begg anyone to make it for ME i just give an idea if there someone create application like this will be forALL of US all mambers of XDA and all peoples around the world who have Pocket PC..
