[Q] Google Maps no longer downloadable through Market - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone! New member here.
Just installed Virtuous 2.0 on my DZ 2.3.3 (downgraded, rooted and upgraded) and I realize that I now do not have access to Google Maps. I've tried Market Enabler, and none of the settings allow me to download Google Maps again. From the PC, it says it's not compatible for my device, and from my phone Maps isn't even available through search.
Could anyone help me?

I'd try looking around for a flashable gapps file somewhere that will work with your rom. Also - unless you've been attacked there before, i'd recommend asking this same question in the thread for the rom you are using! Others (who don't look in this forum) may know exactly what is wrong.

I resorted to downloading the .APK from some shady site. I have not reached 10 posts yet and thus cannot post in the Development forums ): Thanks anyway! Thought Maps should have been available for any device on any ROM ):

EDIT : Well, in fact it downloaded it, here are the maps.apk and streetview.apk, dunno if there is more needed. The maps.apk alone may work tho.

You have to push it via ADB (I think something like root explorer would work too), you can't just install it like any other app.

Always happens when you try to download an attachment from xda from the browser on the SGS.
Mine updated fine from the Market, but i can't get 3D to work or rotation, do the 2 finger swipe and nothing shows. Anyone else getting this?
Mine didn't work for a while then suddenly did. Make sure you are in a compatible city.

And you need to zoom in quite a bit...
Hey guys , i'm on Darky's 5.5 and the update got installed just fine.
Make sure you are looking at one of the supported city's to view buildings in 3d , you aldo need to be close enough for 3D to trigger.
Other than that , great update , maps load waaay faster!
somethings wring with update
I'm having problems though. Galaxy S i9000 2.1 stock ROM not showing any update in the market. What could be wrong ? I just go to the market and it's not there. Also any mobile google sites with links or QR are not helping me.
I have Samsing preinstalled maps, do they update somehow different or also through the market ?
Eeerm yeah still not working over here, i searched for new york empire state building, zoomed in fully and tried the 2 finger gesture to enable 3D, nowt.
if anyone have a problem with installation procedure...
and don`t know what push through Abd means...
just rename the file that you downloaded to Maps.apk and just instal it
it will work

i wrote google maps in the market but it didn't find anything ://
Hate to ask, but which country? Maybe the market is regional, but I don't think so.
Because I just checked again, and it's there (telling me there's an update)
This is really strange....................................

Are you using a custom rom? If, which one?
Some customs have problems displaying some apps on the market.
Klewe
three ideas:
1. browse with your device this site market://search?q=pname:com.google.android.apps.maps
2. sign in and try installing it remote here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.apps.maps&feature=search_result
3. if this doesnt help try market enabler and check a us. provider
ps.:if this also fails, try asking in the rom thread (something with proper.build could be change this)

[Q]Can't install applications like Endomondo or SportyPal

Hello there XDA Developers. I am a new member here.
I did use the search button before I posted too.
On to the main topic,
Recently I started cycling and I wanted an app that would measure my passed distance while cycling , so I decided I'd get Endomondo.
I did get the APK and Tried installing it, but it said " Application not installed".
I thought its some problem with Endomondo so I just did a bit of googling and found SportyPal which IS compatible with HTC Wildfire.Got the APK for that too, same problem. I did a few searches on google about my problem but yet I can't find no solution. Also no answer on the SportyPal forums.
So I am asking for your help XDA-Devs, If you can help I will be forever in your gratitude.
~W0ot
Note :
HTC Wildfire
CyanoGen 7
s -off
Try using the web PlayStore not the one on your device (I install most of me apps using this methods as it is even easier for me)... It shows app compatibility with your device... If it is compatible... It should install. Hope this helps.

I already tried this, says not compatible with device tho both programs are compatible with HTC Wildfire (that's what it says on their websites at least.)
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
~W0ot.
Well... Maybe older versions are compatible but the new one (The one on PlayStore) is not... So... It won't run. If you can get older versions to try out... Good.
Enjoy!

Xperia Play Games Launcher Trouble

Hi there , New to this site and i must say this is just one big book of knowledge about phones haha!
Anyways.. I installed last night the XDark ICS (Android 4.0.3) and realized that when i slide i my gamepad up that the launcher never came up so i went to the play store and found the installer so i downloaded it and every time it gets half way to being installed a error box pops up and says.. "Incompatible with other applications using the same shared user id" SO I THOUGHT OKAY AND THAT MEANS WHAT EXACTLY!?! so i searched around this forum and found people giving download link for apk files so i downloaded it put the apk on my sd card and tried installing that but this just gives me another error and says application not installed.
I do realise that this rom may not support the game launcher but there is no mention of it is the post and thought that someone out there could shed a little light on this matter.
I am not that botherd if i cannot get this running but i find it useful when i was running the normal stock software.
The link to this rom is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729250
If anyone could help it would be most apprrciated! :good:
Many Thnaks

I think the game launcher doesn't work on ics.
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.
Ohh okay I never knew. A bit dissapointing but thanks. And no your English is perfect and very understandable
There is actually the Game Launcher from the leaked ICS builds that looks nice. I have it on my 2.3.3 Xplay and it works great. just look up ICS Xperia Game Launcher and you will find it.
Thankyou I will search this and let you know the results.

Google play services apk

Hi,
after I was looking for answer to this thread, I have decided to uninstall Google Play Services.
Now, I want to reinstall it, where can I find a Google's official apk?
Thanks
I use Cyanogen mod and installed it via opengapps by the clockwork recovery. In other words, depending on what you got you might need other stuff than just the apk. Google Google play apk and you should find a xda thread about it. Or even search via the forum.

Thanks for the response.
I use Revolution HD 31.0 Rom.
I have a twrp backup of my original TW, can I extract google play servicea from there?
Maybe something of this works for you www.android.gs/download-install-and-flash-google-apps-for-android/

Thanks.
But I am waiting for a new release of Google Play Services, hoping it will solve my problems...
Edit:
Google have updated Google play services to v 8.3.01 but it haven't solved the problems.
I am switching to Ivan's ROM
