We all do.
You might have better luck if you search the forums before posting questions that have already been answered.

OMFG.
Do people even read the other threads before starting a new one?
IMHO this thread is useless and should be deleted.
People should first SEARCH and then ASK.
XDA already has enough threads about this matter.

Have you at least tried to read the other threads/topics?
There are LOTS of people that need to root their WFS.
In order to root you need to S-OFF (turn off security in laymans terms) your phone that is something only possible (at least until now) with a hardware device called "XTC Clip".
If you Google "XTC Clip" you will find lots of info on this subject, stores selling them, etc.
Rule of thumb, first search (really take some time reading) and then ask if no other person has already posed the same question.
What you want is what most of the XDA community WFS owners want.

S-ON = Very difficult to root
S-OFF = Easy to root
(these aren't actually the meanings. But it's a simple explanation.)

[Q] a newbee

hi
well i'm a newbee here, just got my hands on htc wildfire a couple of week back, after reading a series of threads, here's my question :
1. should i really need to root my device?
2. how can i find my hboot version?
3. if anyone of you senior players have a full rooting video, pls snd me the link.
Thanks
hey its me again..
just found out the specs of my device :
hboot 1.01.0002
microp 0622
radio 3.35.20.10
now the new question :
can i root with this ver of hboot???
What phone do you have and also what version are you running??
gingerbread or froyo??
You don't *need* to root. All rooting does is give you privileges to do things to your phone that you otherwise can't do, like install custom roms & other apps that have extended "root-only" features. You will most likely enjoy your phone more if it's rooted. You will also get more help if you post your question in the Wildfire section.

I use my phone about 2x more since I rooted it. Rooting the phone gives you access to customize the phone more to your liking. I use the HTC Incredible with CM and I am still looking for different customizations. Overall, I would root the phone if given the ability.
Agreed!
1st. go to Wildfire dedicated section
2nd. Root is not a must but will give you more flexibilities and extra functions of your phone. Consider like having 150% of your phone.

+1. If you like to tinker around with your phone - root it.
If you want it just be a phone - don't worry about it.
Only way to make the Wildfire and Wildfire S rootable is to use the XTC clip.
Thankx guys for all your suggestions, but i tried rooting it with unevoked, but after wards its says, that your firmware is too new to be rooted,
I use : HTC Wildfire , froyo
hboot 1.01.0002
microp 0622
radio 3.35.20.10
please guys help me out, i need to get 150% control over my cell
Thankx again...
You're in the wrong forum, this is for the Wildfire S...
Exactly, maybe you could find answers in the Wildfire section and also here
http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/
People say this beta version is working for Wildfire.
But be careful, read and ask questions on them IRC channel.
Good luck with rooting

[Q] "Noob" Root Question

So, I was just wondering if someone could explain this 'S-ON' and 'S-OFF' thing.
I think I have seen that you want S-OFF due to warranty and stuff, but I don't really understand what it is?
Thanks

I'm quite a noob to but it has something to do with WHAT you can acces. S-ON means you can only install roms and that's it.
S-OFF you can install new radio's and tweak the device a lot more!
Since we are both noobs I think that's all we need to know ;-)! S-OFF won't be possible through HTCDEV, you need a community build unlocker for that!

well sorry about that u can report it to the mod to move it to the proper section
There is no section for it, there are enough s-off threads ! A bit of xda search would have pointed you right to it.......and no, rumrunner does not work

Free s-off local service thats freeeeeee

Im making a new thread because other s-off threads i guess i cant post in ? or others are dead last post 2013 .......
Well let me tell you what is going on here , as i have seen all over htc forums on xda people demand a free or cheaper s-off method and also there's no s-off for verizon m9 ..... What im offering is FREE S-OFF it takes about 1 sec for me to s-off any htc any android version , and not void the warranty !!!!
Questions?
will my phone be rooted ? NO
will my phone have custom recovery ? NO
will my phone have a custom rom ? NO
can you do this remotely ? NO Local only im in austin tx
Can i contact you directly? Yes i am not scared to give you my phone number just PM me for it, as i may be braking some internet rules if i post it here ?...??...??
Closing this thread as its duplicate to the efforts you have already joined in the javacard / clip thread.
