[ROM/THEME] MIUIHO- ROM Idea [Update 8/31 Files Uploaded!] - Optimus V Android Development

MIUIHO - Inferior Human Organs Gingerbread with a taste of MIUI
So after a while of looking for a way to port MIUI to the Optimus V, and failing miserably, I decided to create my own MIUI port-ish ROM.
The concept of this ROM is combining the stability and features of IHO mixed with the stylish look of MIUI.
This is just a little taste of what it will look like:

4. Go through usual Startup Setup
5. Choose your launcher
6. DON'T FREAK OUT! Everything looks stock, I know.

White with Blue:

QQLauncher Transparency & Themes (Thanks dr.notor)
"Hold your finger on the home screen for a while. Select Wallpapers from menu. From the next menu, select Live wallpapers. From the next menu, select MultiPicture Live Wallpaper. On next screen, tap on Settings, go to Common Settings - Picture Source. From the popup menu, choose either Single Picture or Picture Folder. On the prompt, do not forget to check "Use by default for this actions" and tap on MIUI Gallery. Go to wallpapers folder, choose a wallpaper, duh! Press back several times until you get back to the Set wallpaper screen. Tap on Set wallpaper. You are back to your homescreen."

Extra*
As you can see, I've added 3 different launchers, this is due to the fact that some people may prefer the MIUI Launcher(qqlauncher) look instead of the Touchwiz Launcher, or vice-versa.I decided to include the 3 for more customization. When you first install the ROM, you will have the option to choose which one you want after you setup your Google account.
Also, if you want to restore the stock apps, just download the Stock_Apps.zip and restore them using File Expert. If you need more info on how to do this, just post a comment and I'll write detailed instructions!
Credits!
This ROM is based on Jerryscript's 8/25/11 build of IHO

Glad you like it! Maybe I'll change some things to make it look better overall. Some things I'am considering is changing the notification area colors so that it matches the overall look of the ROM. Any suggestions?

I'd love to see something that shows battery percentage, but I suppose that's kind of anti miui, lol
Sent from my LG-VM670 using XDA App

Actually the battery icon on top shows battery percentage, but since it was charging when I took the screenshot, it didn't show the battery percentage lol!

So what launcher are you going to use?

I' am still not sure if I should stick with the original MIUI icons, and Touchwiz 3.0 (used in the creenshots) or go with LauncherPro and use the SuaveHD icons!

sweet, i look forward to trying this out

Neat. Looking forward to trying it.

Looking forward to trying it out. Would a circle battery be implementable?
Or if not, I imagine the framework files can be altered by UOT kitchen

Kind of a **** question, but might it be easier to make a theme for iho? Either way I like the look.

Yeah..at first I thought about that...but then I'd have to add all the different links to apps for MIUI look, plus the patcher for transparent status bar, plus the widgets, plus the touchwiz launcher, plus all the other things I'm planing.for this..so it was easier for me to just create the whole rom with everthything included xD

so far looks good, currently no found issues but i just installed it.
edit: ok, the bloatware needs to go!!! (news program and the tips widget). calendar widget, GV look like stock, im not sure if there was intention on your part to keep it that way or if it should be themed somehow because facebook looks themed somehow but cannot be read since the text color is too dark with the background, (cant speak for twitter as i dont use it or even have twitter on my phone)
gmail, market, fm radio, email, icons could use the blue color to match.
not sure how to install the zips for battery and lockscreen posted above....
overall it has great potential, i love the sharp looking icons in ADW launcher when long pressing an app on home screen and the options box pops up!
On landscape, the unlock buttons for the scrolling lock are not all themed.

First off this is a very informative comment, Thank you. As far as the "bloatware" those are Gapps and can be uninstalled. I do not plan much for Gapps as there are themers that specialize in this and it would be double work.

I had not heard this issue before as the other devices running this theme do not have a keyboard and so the lockscreen is in portrait only. I will fix this for sure.
No prob, I removed the apps asap anyways. I didn't know they were stuck there. Glad I could help, so far I like it. I haven't wanted to remove it asap or anything.
Maybe a little bit of background on the top of the pull down so the wallpaper does not show thru its hard to read and see the icons as its too transparent.

Updated with #54
After much consideration I have decided not to make flashable themes anymore. The apk for the T-mobile theme engine will be used from now on. It has been a concern by some people how this will affect the lock screen theme as well as other things. I will include a metamorph theme to apply to fix this too.
The advantage to using this method is that I can include things like inclusive skins for paid apps such as Fancy Widgets, Launcher Pro Plus.
The other advantage is that from now on if you update CM7 you do not have to wait for me to update the theme since you already have it, the only extra effort on your part is to re-apply the MM theme.
I hope this will be good foe everyone. At this time I have a few issues I am trying to work out. The main one being the dialer. The theme engine doesn't like to resize the images so it looks bad. My proposition is to add a poll for now to get your ideas. Please vote HERE so I can know what you would like best. For now try the apk and let me know what you think.
Looks nice. Will try it soon!

Yeah the problem with that is the edit I made to get the black text was in the services.jar in the flashable version. I cannot add that to the apk. How would you feel about an inverted Carbon lock screen? If not I will remove that image and leave it stock.

[THEMES] Sisterchick Collection - Gingerbread and Froyo

UDPATE: 18Aug11 I've just finished up a port and addition to Pandroid's DropTheme in White for Froyo and Gingerbread MDPI Dream/Sapphire! Screenshots are attached below.
Download and instructions can be found at www.sisterbird.com/android-themes
Enjoy!.
I've finally gotten around to setting up a website to house my collection of MDPI themes. Each has been set up as a Metamorph base for Gingerbread and for Froyo. Thanks to kellinwood for the ZipThemer app on the Market, you can create a flashable zip on your phone for whatever Gingerbread or Froyo ROM you are running.
All downloads, instructions and more screenshots can be found at http://www.sisterbird.com/android-themes.
Enjoy!

I restarted the service and reindexed the files. All links seems to be working now. Sorry for the trouble.
Awesome themes! Some amazing work you've done!
I was wondering, how can i get the dialer in the Minimal Blue theme?
Ooops!
Thanks for your kind words! You caught my mistake in including that picture of the themed dialer. My metamorphs do not include that for the sake of consistency. I tried to include the same parts in all of them so that you could go from theme to theme without reflashing the ROM to undo the changes or ending up with some pretty wild color schemes.
BUT...Rhamej's original metamorph did include the dialer. You can get it here and use ZipThemer to add it to your flashable zip and make an undo flashable at the same time. His original theme did not include the icons I use in settings, has some extra pngs not needed in framework and does not have the SystemUI for Gingerbread. You can use ZipThemer to pick and choose the parts you want out of both. Of course you could use Metamorph to apply just the dialer, but you wouldn't have an undo.

Also, Is it possible to combine two themes? As in, for example: Using the notification pull bar of one theme & using the system UI of another?
I believe so...you can pick and choose sub-parts from different themes and combine them in one flashable zip. Let me know how that works out for you.

hi,
I want to use the theme Minimal Blue on ADS_Magpie, based of Ezgingerbread 2.3.4. I was just curious to know, how will it effect on performance, battery use etc ???
also, please tell me, if it will work with launcher pro? or it is meant for ADW launcher only?
Themes typically have no affect on battery life, performance, etc. The pngs have been optimized.
hey sisterchick, what thread was I talking to you in last night?!?! I cant find it here or on the cyanogenmod site.. I was asking about Honey B... should it include the clock, wallpaper and dock bar as in the picture in th OP on froyo for Laezlo??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1083639
It was in the Sapphire thread (see above).
Ahh...I understand now. Yes, all those things you mentioned are personal settings/preferences and not part of the theme. BUT, I can point in the right direction to set that look up for yourself.
The clock widget you see in the screen shot is Simi Clock Widget available from the market. (The analog clock that is part of the system is part of the theme.)
In ADW and Launcher Pro, you can customized your app icons in the dock. Those are minimal text icons I made and/or collected. I've attached a file with an assortment that you can use. Save to your SD card.
The wallpaper is courtesy of National Geographic Photo of the Day, resized for the phone. I've posted it below as well. Save to the DCIM folder on your SD card and apply.

[MOD] Transparent notification bar/pulldown background

*I made this before any of these new roms came out and as such it was meant for and has been tested on only the stock Gingerbread rom that comes with the phone. I doubt it will be compatible with the new roms.*
So, thanks to the AMAZING people who brought us Clockwork Mod for the Nitro (I owe ALL of you a beer!), I could now make a backup of my ROM and take the risk of messing with what I needed to to make the notification bar transparent!
Basically, I needed to deodex SystemUI.apk in order to make the necessary changes to the smali file. All of this is gibberish to me, but I just googled what I needed to =).
To deodex, I followed this guide:
How to deodex a ROM
(I only deodexed SystemUI.apk)
And to make the necessary modifications for transparency, I followed portions of this guide:
[MOD] [Guide How To] SystemUI.apk for Transparent notifications background (Thanks AdamTt!)
(I didn't end up using step 2 of that because it didn't look very good on the Nitro)
So now the status bar and pull down background look like this!
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So I've bundled the necessary files so it's easier to make yours transparent too! Keep in mind, I am NOT a dev and was not sure how android would handle a single deodexed apk in an otherwise odexed rom (hence waiting for Clockwork Mod), so this may not be the slickest way (programming wise), but so far it's been working great for me. Haven't noticed any performance issues of any kind. Regardless, try at your own risk! =)
Preparation!
1.) Backup your phone with Clockwork Mod! (Yay!)
2.) Using root explorer, back up a copy of your SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex (both in /system/app)
Make it transparent! (Again, everything done with Root Explorer!)
1.) Download and extract attached .zip to computer
2.) Copy your SystemUI.apk to your desktop and right click, 7zip, open archive
3.) Drag and drop into open archive (and let overwrite if it wants to):
-"classes.dex" into root folder of open archive of SystemUI.apk
-"status_bar_tracking.xml" into SystemUI.apk\res\layout
-"shade_bg.png" into SystemUI.apk\res\drawable-hdpi (hdpi, NOT xhdpi)
-"statusbar_background.9.png" into SystemUI.apk\res\drawable-xhdpi (xhdpi!)
4.) Copy this new SystemUI.apk onto your SD card
5.) Move to phone's \system\ folder
6.) CHANGE PERMISSIONS with root explorer (Owner: read write, group: read, others: read)
7.) Move into phone's \system\app folder and let overwrite other SystemUI.apk
8.) DELETE SystemUI.odex from \system\app folder on your phone!
9.) Restart your phone!
*The typical limitations of the transparent notification bar on gingerbread are present here. If you use a launcher other than stock or ADW, the bar will only be transparent if you use a live wallpaper. If you use ADW, you have to uncheck the "hack" setting, and then it'll be transparent regardless of wallpaper.*
**You don't have to use the PNG's I provided. You can put whatever you want there and have as little or as much transparency as you want!**
itis, thank you for the nice mod will look great with great wallpapers. Speaking of wallpapers, that one you got looks hella awesome. Mind sharing it? post it over at the wallpaper thread please so those who are interested in it can obtain it too Thanks again.
looks schnazzy!
I'm going to wait & do thismod when I change backgrounds, for the obvious reasons
Scott0,
What weather widget is that?
That looks good, however in my past experience on Atrix 4G such transparency could be problem when your have text on screen and text in the notification bar, very hard to read.
Bat mod
What is a simple way I can get the bat % only?
Thanks.

Well, it's transparent, so if there's a light background behind it, white text might be harder to read, but I tried to make the transparency somewhat dim so white text is still pretty clear, even on top of a white background like here:
thank you!
i will try!thank you!
Has anyone had their camera fail after doing this mod? I'm not 100% sure that this was the cause but that's the last thing I did before I noticed that the camera didn't work. It did work before I did this.
Sent from my LG-P930 using XDA App
Hmm, that's kinda random. I don't have any camera issues. Can you restore and see if it fixes the cam?
I did a factory reset and put the original files back. No camera I flashed a new rom and the camera worked. I ended up bricking it beyond repair and got a replacement.
Sent from my LG-P930 using XDA App
That's weird restoring the files didn't fix it. I wonder if there was something else causing the cam issues then. That sucks you had to get it replaced! Do you know what happened to brick it?
I bricked it by not following the directions for flashing the kernelpanic rom. I did a factory restore in cwm and poof I had a nice HD brick. Good thing att labeled it as doa and gave me a new one.

Hello itiskonrad. I really do not understand how to do this. I lack experience. Can you please make my SystemUI the same as yours? I am just asking. I hope you can help me.
Hey there!
Since this is my first post on this board, I hope it's not too misplaced. :>
I decided to post in this thread as it seems to be the most up-to-date.
I tried several other guides on xda and other boards, but for my device it won't work. I even tried to find the necessary files on my own, but with no luck.
I'm using MIUI 2.7.13 (Android 4.0.4), ArcKnight Kernel 2.6.32.9 and Apex Launcher on SE Arc S/LT18i. I've installed the Suave Theme v4 1.5, of course with Apex merely the notification icons (ribbons) are visible from that theme.
Now, cutting a long story short, when using MIUI Launcher the notification bar is completely transparent, only the ribbons are visible (that's my goal), when switching to Apex the bar becomes black again - except on the unlock pattern screen.
I've read that the notification settings do not depend on the launcher, but changing background images in SystemUI.apk has no effect.
I hope I made myself clear and that somebody has any direction to point or some solution.
Thanks for reading my crappy english. :>
Regards

Blue Themed G-NeXicons {updated 15/4/12 - 78 icons}

Updated 15/4/12 - More icons added
For those that don't know the G-NeXicons by shakeyabooti are proving to be real popular and look stunningly good, well I have themed some of these to give a more blue ICS theme.
Firstly I must thank shakeyabooti for firstly giving me permission to mod his icons and secondly giving me some great tips which have allowed me to create a much better icon than my earlier attempts (I'm learning all the way !!).
If you like these icons and plan to thank me then make sure you go here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493269 and thank the original designer cos without his efforts then these icons wouldn't exist full stop.
Included so far are:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
+ some more I can't show here.....
I've mainly done the apps I use so there are a few random ones in there,I'll get some more done as and when I get time.
If anyone has any requests i will try to oblige but please be patient, if you could post the icon for the app (preferably the png icon file pulled from within the apk)you want then that would save me some time and speed up the return. I've noticed that shakeyabooti has had masses of requests and credit to him he's managed to sort them out really quickly and I won't be as quick for sure but I'll try my best...
I think they look pretty cool !
The attached zips contains all the icons so far.... Enjoy people
These look nice, but a bunch have a white rim around them. Just a heads up...very nice work buddy. Looks like Shake started something really good here.

Looking good there daz!
Keep up the good work!
I've done a load more icons (including yours hsj1906).
The new icons are in the update zip added to OP......
Good looking icons! I am using a bunch of them... a few requests:
Amazon AppStore
iHeartRadio
Alarm Clock Plus
AdAware
Camera Zoom FX
Thanks!
D3 - Hash's ICS - Beta 1
Thank you for taking care of my requests! Love the theme.
Question: Is it just me or are the blues in each of the icons in different shades? The icons would be even better if they were all the same shade of blue and matched the official ICS hex code.

No worries, happy to help out....
The blues ARE different shades and I like the look of them like that when they're on my homescreen. I think if they were all the same blue then it would be a bit 'samey'. The official ICS hex code (#33c5e5) is a bit dodgy when it comes to icons - I did my drop down navigation bar icons and found that the 'official ICS' colour was a crap match for the existing blue icons (clock,frame of dropdown, etc) and I in fact found #05b7eb to be the closest match (to my eyes anyway and after lots of trial and error)......
What do you guys and gals think then ? Use the same blue throughout or stay as it is ??
im super new to this stuff but i already have CWM installed and i have the .zip on my sd card i try to install zip from sd card and i get installing aborted.
in other words how do i install the theme?

Welcome to xda, its not a theme its just a set of icons. It can't be flashed in cwm. Find an app called Desktop Visualizer on the market - it let's you place an icon on your home screen and link it to any app you like. Or some launchers like nova let you do it too....
Zzandrewst - I'm away for a couple days but I'll sort out your icons soon as I can ok.
Thank you so much!
Works and looks great

[PORTED][APP][HOLO] Holo themed TouchWiz ClockPackage

First of all, big thanks to kage00 for porting (de-touchwiz-ing) the ClockPackage.apk, and allowing me to use his work as a base. (Go to his thread and say thanks)
Second, another big thanks for Master Vertumus (for inspiration, and because I've learned much by analizing his themes)
Holo themed version of Touchwiz ClockPackage
I've themed and slightly modified the Clock application to bring it as close to the AOSP style, as possible.
A lot of touchwiz resources were replaced by original Android resources, the holo theme was also applied to the application activities. (AOSP menus, popup windows, etc)
Hope you like it!
Requirements
ICS or JB rom. 240 DPI
Screenshots
Album with 46 screenshots (including landscape)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Known issues
The map for the world clock does not work, it is removed for now.
The toast message (saying alarm will alert in x hours later) does not show up.
In JB, the checkboxes on the "delete alarms" and "delete cities" screens does not show properly. (The checkbox only updates when the "delete all" checkbox is pressed.)
Solved issues / Changes
The "alarm repeat" / "snooze" / "smart alarm" radio buttons now have an indicator image.
The "My files" app is not included in this version. If you want to use your own alarm sounds, put them into "sdcard/Alarms"
Unnecessary resources were removed, therefore the apk size is reduced to 2.1MB (from 4.9MB)
Download
Download the CWM flashable zip (apk + media files)
Download only the apk (if you already have the media files)
Installation
1) Remove your previous clock from system/app (Move ClockPackage.apk to the sdcard). For CM10/9 I recommend disabling the default Clock. (Apps / Clock / Disable)
2) Install the cwm zip package.
or
Extract the cwm zip and manually put ClockPackageHolo.apk to system/app, and media files to system/media
3) If you have any problems with the app, post it here! (You can come back to this thread using the link under Settings / Credits)
If you find this useful, please hit [Thanks]! Thank you!

Thanks again for your work invested in porting this! :good:
Great effort, Gyebro. It looks really nice and I'd love to use it a lot but I'm using 182 dpi. Nobody has done a multi-dpi version of this app and there are a lot of Slim ROM users who would love it.
Any chance on that?

Next week maybe I'll have some time to make an mdpi version. (But cannot guarantee that)
NICE.
atm i use the Clockpackage v2.4 from kage00 under 215dpi without problems on my phone.
especially with smart alert and there the touchscreenfunction (v2.2 worked, v2.3.5 doesnt work for me, v2.4 works again).
Witch other problems can be, with other dpi?

The alignment, especially in the stopwatch, of numbers and : characters is off. Things aren't centered either. Functionally everything works, but how it looks is also important.

to fix your bugs restart from scracth, edit manifest xml and replace "DeviceDefault" stuffs to "Holo", this will save you lot and lot of work.
And edit clock style in framework res to match holo clock style.
Excuse the dumb/silly question, but what's the difference between this app and the one found here?

This Here is the holothemed Version of the app in the Thread you Has linked!

Yes, the difference is that this one is holo-themed. And one minor thing is that the radio buttons are now visible in the alarm repeat / smart alarm options.

I have done it that way (replacing touchwiz themes, with holo themes in manifest, and replacing most of touchwiz styles with holo styles), but evil coders at Samsung have used a lot of custom elements (for example TWSoftkeyView and TWSoftkeyItem) which cannot be styled or modified easily (and there is no drawable resource behind them in the apk! -> They are getting resources from framework-res). And because I am not allowed to modify framework-res, I had to edit some smali, to redirect these custom elements to the drawable resources of the apk.
Sorry for a year late question. Does this remove the clock widget? Mine has dissapeared.
Thanks for the Touchwiz ClockPackage, I just love the Smart Alarm function !!!!
I've made a small change in the LockClock (the Clock Widget from CM10), so that it automatically launches the Touchwiz ClockPackage when clicking the clock, as it used to launch the CM DeskClock. Now my system is complete again !
If someone wants to try it, just drop me a line and I'll send you the file or instructions...
Is there any reason why this wouldn't work on NeatROM 4.8 (4.1.2)? I've flashed the CWM package after removing the old clock package apk, but the new clock app won't launch when i try it. Just getting a black screen and then FC.
I love the look of this and would really like to have it working. Any ideas?
Thanks!
I fell in love with the "soft alarm" function of this app when I was using that ROM, and I missed it! Thanks for your work.
Running this on an SGS2 with Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Dirty Unicorns, and the app is working perfectly for me!
Afraid Ilve got problems...
Hi.
Thanks for this mod. Generally it works, and I've got my smart alarms (and programmable snoozes) back on my SGS2. But I've got two wrinkles, which I think may be related, and I wonder if you can shed any light on them.
1. There seems to be three copies of all the smart alarm sounds!
2. Countdown timer breaks. When it reaches zero, it says "Unfortunately, Clock has stopped". When clock restarts, that's when the alarm sounds. The only way to cancel the alarm is to countdown again, let it stop again.
If it helps, I installed the clock manually.
Any help gratefully received!
I am too looking for a version of this alarm that works on 4.4.2 (CM11)
I have a S2 and I just left the stock Samsung firmware and I managed to get the radio working.
I am now just missing the soft alarm from this app.
Please let me know if there is a port or a similar app with soft awake mode (Intelligent mode).
Thanks !
