[Q] Can I do a factory reset on my r800a that was rooted with gingerbreak? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All of a sudden after getting an unusually high bill and inquiring as to why the bill was so high i no longer can access 3g internet. whenever i try to access a webpage with 3g it says: "you have attempted to use a data application without a data plan." I called my wireless provider and they say that I have a data plan and there is nothing wrong. They say now that I need to do a factory reset to get the 3g working again. I have removed some of the stock apps and so on, can I still do a factory reset?

Yes under settings, privacy.

[Q] Data Connection

I have a T-Mobile HTC Touch Pro 2. The data connection seems to turn on by itself. I am traveling to a foreign country soon and I don't want to get a HUGE bill. I went to T-Mobile and they didn't know what to do. I re-setted the phone and I am running the new windows mobile. Does anyone know what to do???
Use this program. Very easy and simple. It allows you to disable your data connection completely.

Yes, Modaco NoData works great. It allows the use of WiFi but completely shuts off the cellular data connection.
Sense connects to the internet all the time to refresh the weather data and other info. You should definitely setup a way to turn off the data connection. I learned this lesson on my old Tilt while traveling in Japan. I accidentally launched Internet Explorer while the phone was in my pocket, and it cost a couple dollars just to load my browser homepage.
I just want to make sure... does MoDaCo NoData COMPLETELY shut off all data use PERMANENTLY on my T-Mobile HTC Touch Pro 2 (assuming I have set it up to have all the connections disabled)?
Doesn't matter if, say, the "weather" app, is trying to update/force a connection? Will it still stay off?
The only way to allow the data connection to come back would be to MANUALLY go into the MoDaCo NoData app and enable the connections again, correct?
Thanks for the answer/confirmation... I guess I just really need it spelled out for me.

That's correct, the data connection will stay off until you toggle it back on again in NoData. No other apps can force it back on.
When you first toggle the data connection off in NoData, you will need to soft reset (power off then on again) before the data connection is off. But it will stay off until toggle back on (no soft reset needed to turn data back on, from what I recall).

Thank you very much. That is exactly what I needed to hear.
One other question now: Say I had my HTC Touch Pro 2 without a SIM card in it. I install the NoData Cab before I put in my SIM card. When I put in my SIM card, is there anything that will force the data connection to come on? Or will I be able to just plug and play without the worry of the data connection ever coming on?
I understand that not everyone does this, but I'm just wondering if it will work in the way I would like it to.
^ Anyone know, or have an idea?
You could try it yourself I think that it's possible, but maybe only when you put a simcard in from a differenct carrier. You can disable it faster true nodata then it can enable by itself.

Keeps disconnecting from cellular network

Hi, my phone keeps losing connection from cellular network.. I've had my phone for about a week and I keep disconnecting from cellular network, or sometimes when I'm picking up a call from home the reception is really bad this has never happened to me from my previous phone, Apple iPhone 3G
does anyone have a solution to this?
I had this issue as well. I know you won't like what I did, but it's the only way that Samsung knew how to fix the issue (I had tried things like disabling the LTE antenna to no avail). I did a complete factory reset, and it helped. What Sprint has you do is go into Settings, then Backup and Reset, then Factory data reset. What I did, however, was using Odin to flash the PALEN firmware to my phone, then do a factory reset as Sprint said above (using Odin will not erase data), and lastly doing OTA updates until I got back to LI3. I will post a video from QBKing below on how to do this. From there, I reinstalled all of my apps and re-synced my music.
I did this about two weeks ago. Since then, my phone has only disconnected from the network once, which it did so to switch from 3G to Wi-Fi.

This video shows you how to unroot your device if it is already rooted. However, you can use this video to know how to flash back to PALEN (just ignore the part about unrooting at the beginning).
Good luck!!

[Q] WiFi establishes but apps SELDOM can access it.

So let me describe my story.
I rooted my phone, removed some bloatware and used some firewall app to disallow certain apps from accessing mobile networks. Suddenly, my apps don't connect usually to wifi. The wifi gets established but the apps act as if there's no connection. Oddly, every once in a while it will work! Apps using Mobile Networks (data) works! I don't have a data plan but it works.
Here's what I have tried.
I tried a factory reset. No success.
I tried using ROM Manager to do a clockwork recovery. No success.
I tried downloading a toolkit for my phone and flashing a complete stock ROM. The ROM loaded and all the bloatware returned but the apps still don't (usually) access the WiFi
Any advice?
Have you tried disabling or uninstalling the firewall app? And check that auto switch networks is off in wifi settings. You may need to clear data on the apps in question as well.
