XDA - About xda-developers.com

I haven't been a member here for a long time, yet already I feel part of this community. This one of the best online communities I've ever participated in and a large amount of the readers are very helpful. At least it has been so in my experience. Has this been the common experience? Does everyone feel satisfied with XDA? I'm eager to find out what the community thinks about this
Optimus M XDA Premium

i feel the same way too

i love this community too except for the restiction that all members with 10 post less can pose a thing in the development boards

It's the one and only forum with 4 milion members with phones or tablets XD

Pretty cool if you ask me. Good development too

Why was my thread deleted

I posted a new thread earlier asking advice on how to get my money back from some criminally acting devs of the game app "Bakery Story " and my thread was removed, why are mods encouraging criminal behavior or are they in league with these app devs and doesn't want people to know the truth about these loopholes. Also this is general section and I see a lot of questions being asked here, on a last note isn't xda about enlightenment and education to the users? .

Perhaps you presented your inquiries in a slanderous manner, based on your approach this time around Id bet that that was the case. Xda is a developers community and without proof or first addressing the developer, attacking them is really no way to initially present yourself.

Well, what exactly occurred? I know you explained it once but some of the mods have a rather cavalier attitude and it sounds as though it's be suitable for this section.

Please contact via PM to the Moderator who apparently deleted your thread, sure there will be a reason.
nerogold, you currently have 2 threads, one in off-topic and one in the thunderbold section.
I can't see that either of these were ever deleted.

[Idea]Closed Community?

Would be possible to make XDA a closed invite only community?
like there are so many people that just download the roms and leave without even a word of thanks to the developers and also many registered users spam just to increase their status here,i have been a part of many communities and out of my experience i would suggest making XDA a closed invite only community will make it reach great new heights....!
Like with a closed community only mambers useful to the community can be retained thus reducing spam as well as making XDA a great community....
Please do suggest your thoughts and opinions....
Fail thought is still fail.

are developers dropping XDA as primary site?

More and more custom mods on this site are moving to another forum, and posts in forum sections seems to point away from xda forum when you click download?
Is it really getting so bad for xda forum, that developers starts to link outside this forum?
Seems the rules around this forum are getting to strict.
Anyone else noticed?
Only ones ive ever seen linking to a different forum are villain roms,

Problem is...No other community would have such a large fan base, XDA has well over 400K users I'm assuming, finding another development site like this would be hard. XDA has been around for some time, and many are using this place to share their work and work with others. If Devs leave perm, they won't have as much of an impact IMHO.
It is better as a developer for your portfolio to link your work from your own site. just because a developer links to his own site does not mean they are leaving this wonderful site. XDA in my opinion is far better than Microsofts apphub forums any day plus most are nice here compared to other sites.

Most are nice... But its been getting worse. Back when winmo ruled xda, I never saw near the amount of flaming or just terrible conduct in general. Thus this new "iron fist" method by the mods.

No, but some developers are dropping devices... Such as the G2x.

Ok, I just noticed a desire rom and i remember several roms from acer and asus being on other sites as well.
maybe just team specific, but it seems a little strange that i find it here, and then in some cases i need to register to download from another site. could also just be a way to pull some members to their site.
The only devs that leave are the ones that aren't getting their own way, and leave in the huff because they think they are entitled to more. No one forces them to leave.
There are still a huge number of devs still producing great work on xda
The developers have two options:
Either post their developments in this forum
Or host their developments on their personal dedicated website.
Most of the developers follow both the routes. I doubt if there's any other option, that can get them an instant large user-base.
a very good example is CyanogenMod
he has his own website/forum, yet his ROMs are everywhere
so it's not strange to see ROMs here linked out to their own download places
as there are Thousand if not Million of fans for any given ROM
some DEV can afford their own website, some other cannot, and they will just host it where they feel more comfortable with as simple as that
I'm guessing having your own website helps with getting ad revenue and such? But in order to get traffic, you really have to be on XDA.
A lot of devs are leaving due to issues with users, other devs, and the mods. The mods don't always make the best decisions and don't care to explain their actions. The users always ask for things that annoy the devs. The devs argue about who kang'd what, stole code here, etc. It's pretty childish conduct for a forum made by adults.

It's more or less model/dev/team specific.
XDA is more or less an American site and so phones used widely in US have active development in XDA.
I have an LG GT540 Optimus. Most of the ROMs/Guides/Apps for this phone on XDA come from and are linked to Russian forums. This is due to the reason that active developers for this phone come from Russia and don't care about English much.
Plus, most downloads are linked to file distributions networks since XDA has an upper 8MB file size limits.

No duh. Most of the developers for my phone, LG GT540 Optimus.
Devs for other models might be from other countries. Most of the XDA devs who use XDA as primary forum would be from US.

Xda is NOT an American site. Do your research first. It's home is in Europe.....Just because the rules require users to post on English doesn't mean this is an American site.. ..

I didn't say XDA is American in origin. But, most of the devices in here are the devices sold around America. That's why I said more or less American. =)

Leaving the HOX Forums :( ? Bid your farewell here

Are you leaving the One X forums ? Post your farewell messages here. Again this is to avoid the opening of more farewell threads by individual members. Post your final words here, your wishes, regrets, good times and bad times while you were here...thank anyone in particular and perhaps share some information about your future plans or devices . Credits go to Recognized Contributer deedii from the X8 Forums for inspiring me to open this thread . Again, farewell and take care ...

My guess is, this is a necessary evil. People just don't give a damn about forum rules. Things are slowly getting out of hand
A bit late for this but here it goes...
I was the author of the mod "One eXtreme Sound Enhancer" (Now Deprecated)
Thanks for everyone who have supported me over this year, you guys have really been a great help. I didn't want it to end like this but I force myself to because of some individuals had been trolling/being disrespectful to my work (*ahem* sammy users...)
I have been thinking countless times on coming back to this forum but haven't made a decision yet...
I really do regret moving to somewhere else but I had to get away from all of this kanging (This guy in the Xperia S Forum...), the XDA community wasn't as good as it was a year ago
Again, Thanks to EVERYONE in the ONE X Forum for supporting me along the way and also helping me when i got stuck, I really did appreciated it
Anyways, if you must find me, you can always PM me for my whereabouts
Another pointless thread in the jungle of threads that xda has become

In love with XDA :)

I am java android BPM .net developer carefully following xda for years.
Gathered courage and became member here. Sometimes replies are hard be cautious. Yes, do you hurt your girlfriend or boyfriend? Here no different. People responding are our friends working for us. They are one of you and me.
We are talking with master brains challenging proprietory developers. This is research world. You get into it and you forget yourself.
Whereelse you find tools and programs to make life easier?
XDA I still do not know fullform but need not as am interested in technicals.
Long live xda I always love love love you ummmmaaaaah.
One suggestion please bring spell check feature in xda dev application or suggest me if exists.

•Be short
•Be simple
•Be polite
•Search before you speak
•Acknowledge research effort
•Criticise for betterment
•As english as possible in post
