SD Cards...
Although most places I've looked they are pretty expensive. I just found it funny that the two links you posted showed regular price and what seems to be their "Special" price was the same amount at both places. I'd do some more research but I can tell you, finding a good quality working SD card that will last will not come cheap especially at 16 or 32GB. Good luck and posts and great deals you find out out there.
Jim

I have an A-RAM class 10 16gb which I got for about $40 (australian). I don't think it lives up to it's speed but it doesn't get corrupted and is reasonably fast.

future shop is like a canada-only best buy, so i have no worries about that

16GB MicroSDHC $29

No this isn't one of those 32GB for $20 thread but it's a known MFG at a reputable website (I've ordered from them a number of times). Best deal I've been able to find.
PQI 16GB MicroSDHC

For those Sandisk fans out there:
http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=SDSDQ016GA11M
Newegg has this one for $45
And before you get caught up on that Class 2 vs Class X, there is no rigid adherence to this standard. Search the web and you can find examples of Class 2 cards spanking so called Class 6 cards etc... For a phone this is fast enough.

fry's ftw. Thanks for the link
Thanks for the links everyone!
Boy I don't know a class 2 card kinda sucks. Although 30 bucks is a good deal. Thanks OP.
I just don't get it. We all buy a truly awesome phone. (This is my first Android OS phone. I was using Palm Treo's with Windows; 700wx and 800w.) But yet, all the threads about putting cheap components in it. I fully understand trying to save a buck as no one wants to pay full price. I ordered my Sandisk 32GB microSD card on 7/22/2010, when no store had them and most online stores were back ordered, from Verizon. Cheapest price for item was $199.99 on Sandisk.com (and even they were back ordered). I got it for the same price you can today online from Verizon, $99.99. Except, I got it from the local brick & mortar and it's $149.99 via this method now.
I'm not sure these are no name off brand cheap componets. If you search around you'll seen plenty of reviews on respectable sites where so called premium Class 10 cards get romped by less expensive cards. These are quality cards just inexpensive.
From everything I've read your phone can't take advantage of a class 10 anyway so why spend the extra money?
The Fry's is a great deal but I never buy anything based on a MIR price.
lol then you got ripped off.
When it comes to flash memory buy whatever is cheapest. Read speeds hardly vary. Write speeds are what the class is referring to and isn't very important in our phones. You wont notice an apreciable difference. It can use the nand as a buffer if it needs to write faster anyways say for video recording in hd.

WOW that right there has got to be the most incompetent statement of the day. No I am not calling you stupid, I am saying the comment shows lack of flash memory knowledge.
Cheap gets you cheap, and that’s a fact.
Flash memory is very volatile, and when you buy cheap flash, you get cards that die quickly, or are partially dead out of the box.
i have gotten cheap before and every time i got burnt. Most memorable was a 4GB card that would only hold 2 GB because anything past that caused the card to bomb out. Up to 2 GB it worked fine.
Cheap flash will absolutely cause you troubles, and we already know that a goofy or bad memory card in these phones will cause you to have all types of whacky issues. Including but not limited to reboots, lockups, and bad flashes, or inability to flash the phone.

Looking for a 32 GB MicroSD card for my Evo....

Preferably from Amazon as I have prime and it'll deliver quickly.
I'm not looking to spend anything more than $70-80, but obviously I'd love something even cheaper. Anyone have any suggestions or anything?
Speed isn't a concern to me as long as it isn't TOO slow. Probably only using this for music.
I'm an FORMER iPhone guy (had a Nexus One, but not for too long - bought it when it first came out exclusively for T-Mobile's 3G network and I had AT&T.... loved the phone, but couldn't stand Edge) who doesn't have much experience with expandable memory. I don't really know what to look for! Thanks.
Just a laugh for you, but being a former dual iphone family I went into a AT&T store (I wanted a 32GB card then...that moment and locally) and asked if they had any in stock. Salesman rung up my purchase and asked my phone number...I replied I used to be with you guys and switched over to Sprint and sold my etch e sketches.
He replied its ok and off I went.
Granted I paid 150+ then, they are available just about anywhere for the price range you are looking in.
I got a SanDisk. I do recommend however you get one with an SD/micro sd card adapter and USB for microsd as it was so simple to move everything from one card to the other in one shot.
You dont have to have these, just really makes it easy to move all from old card to card in one click.
Here is the the one I got and its $94 and 5 stars by all 4 people at amazon.

With the exception of a few occasional and short lived deals on the Sandisk 32GB, you're not going to find anything less than $70-80 for a legit 32GB MicroSDHC card. Even $70-80 is a better price than you may find at this moment. Fakes are a very common problem -- smaller cards that have been altered to appear to be 32GB, but won't let you write anything more than the 2GB or whatever they really have in them. So even if you think you've found a great deal, be sure it's from a solid seller (and watch out for Amazon marketplace as well). There was a brief deal from Verizon earlier this year, and one from Sandisk direct a month or so ago that made it available for $50 and $57 respectively, but those are rare.
This Kingston is the card I have. It's sold out in this packaging from newegg right now, but I bought it for about $87 a couple months ago. Prior to sellout, it was going for $95.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139391
This appears to be the same card in different packaging (full size SD adapter instead of a small USB microSDHC reader), and it's also $95:
http://www.adorama.com/KGSDMC432GB.html
As far as I know, the Sandisk and the Kingston are the only legit 32GB microSD cards on the market right now. I haven't looked in the last month or so, but that was the case when I looked a few months ago. But there are also fakes sold as those brands, so be very cautious on any deal that looks too good to be true. Odds are very high it is.
I'm waiting for a steal of a deal on one of these 32GB cards also... my 16GB one is almost done for
I've been looking and waiting for a deal on one as well. My best advice would be to register on a site like slickdeals.net, setup an email alert for 32gb micro sd, and wait for a deal.
Here is a class 4 from Kingston for $105. This is the one I'm getting.
Or, even better, here's a thread about the 32GB Class 10 by Lexar for nearly the same price. Some of the links provided are even cheaper!
I got one off E-Bay for about $55 and it works fine.
Edit: Also check this out. I don't know if the code is still good or not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852567
Personally, my advise would be to stay away from Ebay. I got 3 counterfeit cards there in the last couple of months. I got refunds for them all, but shipping one of them to China set me back about $25, and in each case I had to open a dispute before they'd provide me a refund. Now I'm trying to decide if I've got the money to splurge on a legit card in the $90 range, or if I'm going to wait and hope they come down in the next couple of months. No more eBay for me!

Its what i bought. Class 2 isnt bad but i had 20gb of music so i went class 4 and it works great all music loads up fast with album art and a couple movies i put on it play fine

I just bought the same one! You can get 10 dollars off (to make it $39.99) if you buy it with a new account. Use the promo code NEWCUSTOMER10. You have to add something small to the order to get it over 50. I went to Newegg gear and added a Newegg wristband, as it was the cheapest item with free shipping.
I wouldn't buy any cards off Ebay. There's as much incentive to sell rigged cards as there is demand for high capacity. My roommate just bought a 32 GB off Ebay and he got lucky. Make sure that the seller offers returns and when you get it immediately run h2testw.
I just have one question for the OP..
Are you feelin lucky?

My wife and I picked up Patriot sd's from Micro Center... I think they were $39 they work pretty awesome. Price wasnt bad at all compared to online prices. it seems like it is luck of the draw on the Generic ebay ones so we stayed away from those.
Fakes are extremely common for flash memory on ebay, especially on any kind of "OMG WHAT A DEAL!" type of things. The fakes are usually a 2GB card that's had a 3 painted on it in front of the 2, and hacked firmware to make it appear to be 32. But when you try to fill it, it won't let you, because it's still just a 2GB card.
Basically, if it's substantially below the going rate from reputable sources (looks to be roughly $60-80), you're going against probably 80-90% odds that you'll get a fake.
I made the mistake of buying one and I can put 32 gb worth in info on there but when I put it in the phone it can't access it.
I wouldn't buy from anyone but a trusted source and right now I wouldn't buy one for less than about $50.00.
In a year or two they'll be going for $25.00, but right now anything that cheap is bound to be a fake that doesn't actually hold anywhere near 32GB.

16gb class 10 (14.8 formatted)- ~$35
32gb class 10 (formatted size unknown)- ~$82

i bought the 16gb c10 and it shipped fast and works perfectly for me. it is a real card, not a rip off too. sdtools (i think its called) for android said it has a r=10-12.5mb/s w=20-25mb/s or something in that range (been a while since i uninstalled the app). never had a problem and i highly recommend it, the 16gb one atleast since thats the only one i can speak for.
Patriot class 6 32gb micro SD card from Fry's for $69 about 3 months ago.
It's legit, not like the fakes on Ebay. Google it. You will find out the truth. Even if you pay near to the going price, you run the risk of getting a fake. IMHO, it's just not worth the hassle.
Got one it works pretty good..

I got one off Ebay for $39.99 and its totally legit. I got lucky I guess... this time.
Got to be careful with SD cards on eBay. I got a fake. I tested it with a program called htest or something like that. Seller did refund my money before I sent back the cards which was quite nice of him. I ended up biting the bullet and bought 2 from best buy.

*Never* buy a memory card from a Chinese ebay seller expecting the card to perform at the advertised speeds and/or advertised capacity.
I got burned 3 times buying a 32gb memory microSD card from ebay. All of the them came from different chinese ebay sellers and all cards were only 1 gb. I complained to ebay and said these were fake microSD cards. The ebay wanted me to ship back the cards to the seller. Since, the cards were at a low price of less than $20 with free shipping. Shipping it back would cost me $24. I didn't make sense for me to ship it back. I just declared it as a bad purchase and suck it up.
with the 3 bad purchase, I lost $60. I could have bought this from amazon instead:

I was thinking the exact same thing when i came in this thread.
Please do report back once you guys receive them, who knows they may be the real deal
I will keep you guys posted when the item is received. I thought the price was kinda low so I took a chance. I did read through all the feedback on the seller and according to the feedback the product is legit. One of the responses said they tested the card and it was 32GB as advertised. The only negative reviews was that it took time to arrive, the other said it wasn't proper packaging. But nothing about the actual MicroSD card not being 32GB size as advertised.
Again, you can't go completely by the feedback, but at least it gives you a starting point when the seller has good reviews.
Worse case I am out $30. Sucks if I am but not a huge loss.

Lexar 32GB Class 10 microSDHC Memory Card $27.99 (PM @ Best Buy Canada)

Hey Everyone,
Just called in and purchased a Lexar 32GB Class 10 microSDHC Memory Card for $27.99+tax from Future Shop.

Price match against Best Buy (until tonight only).

I've heard some pretty reviews on this...seems like a great deal too! It is a Class 10 with adapter!
Don't know how much they'll cost in US but in UK you can get SanDisk Mobile Ultra 32gb class 10 UHS-1 cards for £18($28.50) including tax and delivery from play.com.
And those Lexar cards really aren't much good really compared to the SanDisk which is probably the best card you can get for a mobile.
Just picked one up, thanks for the heads up!
Also, I wouldn't use play.com to save my life. The reviews about that website scare me to death.
There is something fishy about price matching a sister company. Why are there two stores where the only difference is the colours?
Oh that's a good deal but it's late hope I can get one tomorrow.

Dont waste your money shopping at Futureshop or Bestbuy. I live in Vancouver and the 2 best computer stores are NCIX and Memory Express. I have a 32 in all of my devices and can say that there is no difference between Lexar, Adata, Gskill, or SanDisk. They all do the same job at the same speed. Here are some links:

I price match Best Buy to Future Shop and vice versa all the time.
It's weird that their pricing isn't consistent...considering these two stores are less than 5kms from eachother.
I've read some pretty good reviews on the Lexar....so I'll see how it is...if it isn't that great...its only like $31.xx and I am sure I can use it elsewhere....in a digital camera or something.

I AM THE ONE who first went to FutureShop in Vancouver and got them to do the initial price match against BestBuy for $27.99. The price match must have registered in the computer for future sales like yours. It was originally a $30 BestBuy 3-day door crasher.
Also, this Lexar MicroSD comes with a USB card reader, not a microSD->SDHC adapter like most other cards come with. This Lexar (a division of Micron) comes with a 10 year warranty.
Reviews say it is a fast card (especially with the card reader) but may have issues with Android, so lets put it to the test and see.

The Lexar card that you purchased at Futureshop is also available at Memory Express. Memory Express has an unbeatable price match system. They will beat the price by 25% if the difference where as Bestbuy/FS will only do 10. You could have gotten this card for $22. Not that 5 dollars is a big deal, but keep this store in mind. Especially being how you live in Vancouver, it may save you some bigger $$$ in the future. Nearly a year ago I purchased a RAT 7 mouse from them when BestBuy had a Special offer on it. I got the 109 dollar mouse for 72 after the price beat. They will do limited stock or online only prices also. Their website has a price beat calculator if you care to look. I do not work for them and am not trying to plug them, I just like to see other techies save money.

Thanks - the ME 25% matching is good to know! Certainly could payoff on larger ticket items. I actually got my card for $18 after using a $10 FutureShop gift card I had lying around for over a year, $28- $10 = $18. I live relatively close to a FS, and the drive to the nearest Memory Express (Richmond) would have easily burned $5 in petrol (hopefully not Tar Sands).
As a side note, that RAT 7 gaming mouse I mentioned a few posts back is available for a killer price right now. Memory Express has it for 109 right now while NCIX carries it for 69. Memory Express will price Beat it down to 59. You can do this all online if you are interested. You just need the link to the lower price on NCIX and enter it at checkout via green price check button. Just wanted to point out a good deal. This is a great mouse, and a must have for gamers.
