Evo 3d owners - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Any buyers remorse? I for one so retreated upgrading my line and wished I waited a lousy month and a half more.

definitely, i got the 3d on launch date.. was hoping for more but i just don't have the same feeling i did when i got the evo 4g.. so i will be getting the epic touch, but i'll also keep my 3d for the hell of it..lol

me did not like it
3d was not good
screen colors looked really bad
screen was tilted
bad viewing angles
bad camera
very meh phone
speed was not that great, the bionic was noticeably faster than it

same way i feel, and i went in very open minded.. i gave it a huge chance hoping it would live up to the og evo but to no avail.

I'm just trying to figure a way I could land a epic touch. I have a OG epic and a 3D I'm sure one needs to be sold...decisions decisions

Some of you same guys will be saying the same thing about SG II when a newer better phone comes out lol. Some of you talking about the speed of the phone is slow. My Evo3d has never had a problem or any lag doing anything. Now if all you want to do is look at benchmarks and brag then I guess the SG II wins lol. But for day to day usage E3d runs fine. I'll take realistic looking colors vs over saturated colors where white look like yellow.
Not saying the SGII is a crappy phone, but I guarantee it will have its fair share of problems once the newness wears off lol

problems
I hate my 3d .... really sucks when you cant depend on the phone to stay on and just quit not responding so i can use it as an alarm ..... several times have had to reset phone because of not responding .... Evo 3d is a piece of junk ... they rushed it out and not even that fast quality control horrible at htc right now .

None here. Hated the 3d. It was a failure.. I wanted to love it but it had a few serious flaws I couldn't tolerate. Specifically the washed out screen and terrible reception
sent from my damn EPIC TOUCH 4G!!!!

I'm switching. Not happy with the 3D. Still skeptical of Samsung though.

Yea I fins myself reading alot about this phone and I'm guessing I'm wanting it ..now like alot of other people I need to figure out a way to get rid of my e3d. To an ex 3d user ...is it worth the trouble of selling and paying the difference to get this phone? Is it really leaps and bounds better ? My phone functions fine so you guys saying the e3d sux ass and had problems need not answer
..I want honest opinions if it lived up to the hype ..also. wanted someone to compare the camera quality between the two

I think you should just go to sprint and try it out. I went into my local sprint store and they had one. I was waiting to be wowed but I was not. Now that does'nt mean its a bad phone, its just not for me. I played with it for about 15 mins. There are some things I like about it but overall I'm sticking with the e3d. For one sammy should've used a qHD screen. After using the the e3d screen everything things else looks way too big on screen.
My GF has the og evo and she's using her upgrade to get the SGII so I'll have more time to compare.

It had the EVO branding so I was sold. My EVO 4G is still getting rommed to death by it's new owner and I got to use it today after a few months, it's still a beast of a phone...
...so I figured the EVO3D, while a peculiar way to follow up the 4G, would be a fantastic (of odd) continuation of it's legacy.
I couldn't have been more let down. Nothing is sacred at HTC. The screen aspect ratio of the Evo3D is downright offensive to me. My phone spends most of it's time in portrait mode...sure the resolution made up the difference so far as on-screen data is concerned I'm always constantly irritated by the aesthetic displeasure it caused me....but I swallowed that one, times they are a changin', right?
The next was the wonky power button behavior...doesn't always turn it on right, sometimes you need a battery pull, sometimes you wake up to a green light a locked up phone and a dead battery all at the same time.
And then the coup de grace, the signal strength is noticeably weaker than my EVO 4G....and I waited for an updated radio...and the past two radios just made it worse. Then HTC dropped the ball on releasing the (complete) kernel source, it's taken forever for CM7 and I'm sure it's because of HTC no cooperating...all the while Samsung is shipping unlocked phones and hiring Cyanogen himself.
After the NS4G I got for a week or two between all of the EVO 3D's I REALLY TRIED TO LOVE I realized that it was actually a very good phone. My faith in Samsung renewed.
I tried to love the EVO 3D...but I'm not a hopeless fanboy enough to eat that much trash and call it delicious. The phone sucks. There, I said it. I tried....
...and that's without mentioning that the UI experience on the 1ghz single core NS4G is MUCH smoother than a heavily modded 1800mhz dual-core EVO 3D....

I would agree with you more on that if it wasn't for the slew of random games and other apps that don't resize perfectly to the qHD. Sure, it IS the app's fault, but, the OS could handle it--and it doesn't yet...ICS I'm sure addresses this...but GB doesn't and I'm sick of waiting.
Will I be getting the Nexus Prime? Without a doubt...but I probably won't have a laundry list of reasons why the SGS2 sucked... I don't need to justify it, if I want it I get it. Period. The end. I would have been the same with the E3D if it didn't take so many opportunities to kick me while I was down.

I dont know how so many people have problems with their e3d but other than a few hiccups my phone has been fine. And thats the number 1 reason I will not install any custom roms because they usually come with problems that we spend some much time trying to fix. I had the og evo and I use to install a lot of roms. With lots of roms there were problems. With the new sense theres no need for me to install any custom roms. Apart from a few tweaks and themes I'm good.
Everything works on my e3d and I get great battery life

The evo 3d is a great phone for most people...
I personally and switching to the epic 4g touch tomorrow, and giving the 3d to my fiancee.
I am pumped for it.

Honestly I think a lot of us got genuine duds...it seems almost all of us bought on release day. There was no prior platform-sister-model to the E3D. The EVO 4G had the Nexus1 that was nearly identical. The SGS2 has the entire worlds worth of SGS2s. The Shooter and Sensation were the first of that new platform.
But I'm on my 3rd E3D, though all still probably release day models, over the course of 3 months. I give up. I tried. I really did love the whole idea of the phone to start with.
So far as buggy roms goes it's usually pretty easy to tell genuinely buggy roms from solid roms with a few rare bugs...and the stock roms are not immune to bugs. I got more FC's on my bone-stock E3D than I ever got on a daily or RC of CM on my EVO 4G.
But to each their own. Though I've gotta ask, what are you doing here?

You may have gotten a dud bro. Stock roms are not immune but custome roms do mulitply the chance of more bugs. Only time I got a FC on my stock e3d is if I restore certain app from titanium backup. And I'm here because like most of your guys I love technology and gadgets, plus my GF is getting the SGII tomorrow so I'll be sticking around.

Using the phones everyday I think they will be similar performance lol. The biggest difference will be in the screen lol.

This phone stock blows a rooted and overclocked 3d out the water. I just switched from the 3d and its better times 10.
Better signal. Better screen...even at lower resolution ..exynos core is a BEAST..plays n64 games on emulator stock smoother than overclocked evo. Better cameras..better speakers...this thing screams dude. And most of all...its a GREAT PHONE before anything. Great call quality..stronger reception than the 3d. If your on the fence..jump man..it's worth it

Cool. No mal intent, honestly curious why someone who is a happy E3D owner would be here...now I know.
But, yeah, I think I got 3 (yes, three) duds...all HW001's, I'm sure that has everything to do with it. The 002's likely have a much lower failure rate and much higher tolerances.
I got FC's on every E3D I had from the music app on countless occasions, the youtube app all over the place, the browser....all reliably. In fact, until I flashed Synergy I was plagued by FC's. Again, I'm sure my hardware was at fault here.
FC's I can live with...it's no kernel panic, it's no blue screen and it happens fast and is absolved relatively fast (except for youtube which became unusable eventually...web-version, problem solved).
If the screen width (in portrait) fit my preference, if the battery life was phenomenal, if the signal strength/lock was good....any one of those...I could and would be able to completely ignore all of the things wrong with the device--and I haven't even begun. But sadly it was not to be.
Glad to have you on board either way.

I know you...You know me...and you are saying what we both wanted to know: So it's true? Great signal strength/holding? Tower locking? higher roam-threshold?
I can't wait,.

My biggest complaints about the evo 3d:
1. Camera Quality (in 2D and 3D), 2D pics were grainy and i could not get nice 3d effects unless i tried really hard in perfect light, etc. 3d Pictures were just a blur otherwise.
2. Meh screen
3. Dropped calls and poor reception, dropped calls in my house all the time, never did with my EVO 4g. Palm Pre reception is poor too, but still better than the E3d. EVO Shift is also very poor in my house, but better than the e3d
4. Battery life was significantly better than a stock evo (Of course, not nearly on par with EVO 4g + my savaged-zen kernel lol), I made it through a short day with minimal-moderate usage. But of course, it is likely because of the poor signal I had in my house. (I'd roam in my basement, with the OG evo i always had a signal)
That's about it, I returned it 22 days after launch day (when i got it)
It had good things too:
1. 3D was very cool, except when I took my own 3d pics/videos I couldnt get it to look right, but movies/games/etc were all very cool.
2. Sense 3.0 is usable, maybe even a little better. I still prefer AOSP, but I absolutely hated sense pre-3.0 and couldn't stand it.
3. Very quick phone, not GS2 quick, but miles ahead of the OG Evo and most phones
4. Felt better built than the OG evo. I liked the flush battery cover
Bottom line, I didn't feel it was worth an upgrade so I returned it. It's just personal preference. I skipped on the photon because of the dated tegra 2 and lack of developer support. I waited WAY longer than i wanted to on the ET4g but I'm finally getting it tomorrow and I'm excited about it.
Oh yea, I got mine on launch day right when they opened lol. I see all the people talking about random reboots and software glitches/hardware glitches. I never had any of that it was very stable, it just wasn't for me

Epic or evo

Have two days left before I'm stuck with the epic. Just wondering if I'm making the right choice. I love the keyboard but I only use it for gaming. The screen is great but the software is lacking. Do you guys think that the evos hardware compares to the epics? The phone is fast but the gps sucks. Just trying to get some input from the other side.

try the evo for 30 days
, you can root it, play with it, flash all you want and still return it to stock to return if you dont like
Well I walk own & walk around with both phones & even though on paper, spec wise the Epic beats the Evo, in real world use, the Evo is a better phone IMO with wayyyyy better support from Sprint, HTC & the devs on Xda. I hardly ever use my Epic.
No I'm not happy to see you but yes...that is a Evo in my pocket!
I would say the Evo, but maybe if you like a keyboard try the shift. Try the Evo for 30 days and if you don't like it stay with the Epic.
It is a nice phone but I just don't want to get stuck with a forgotten phone like I was with the pre. As far as the keyboard I use swype and I heard game gripper is coming out with a bluetooth game pad. If I knew for certain that samsung would update this phone and get rid of all its bugs I would prob keep it. I think my biggest prob is having to walk around my backyard trying to get a signal with gps.

I'd go with the EVO, even before last weeks FroYo update fiasco. HTC's are more reliable, in my opinion. I just moved my wife from a Samsung moment to the EVO shift and she loves is. granted, it's not fair to make a comparison regarding the EPIC based on experiences with the Moment, which everybody will agree is not half the phone the EPIC is. But my experience with Samsung compared to HTC in general is that HTC is the far superior brand.
I would go with the evo. I have a friend who tried both and really just liked the evo better. The only thing that made me a little apprehensive at first was it was all touch, but I got used to it quick and would never go back.
hardware wise i think the epic is better, but its samsung who have proven they don't really support their newer tech and their UI skin isn't my favorite. The evo's aftermarket community is probably second only to the nexus phones and on par with the droid phones and the Evo is still sprints flagship android phone. Plus HTC build quality is nice and i like sense and it allows me to use it with my work email so for me its a no brainer
Evo without a doubt. If you are on these forums and are interested in future development, has to be evo. Samsung seems to be pissing a LOT of people off and it doesn't seem like there are really that many devs working on them.
HTC and EVO are the way to go IMO. All i can say is i have had my evo since launch day and i dont see a phone coming to sprint any time soon that will make me want to get new one. I LOVE MY PHONE...
And like people have said, Get the Evo, try it for 30. You will probably not go back to the Epic!

Htc build quality is nice? Let me hit what you're smoking lol. But seriously I'd go evo if you want to be a power user
Swyped from my cyanogenized and gingerbreaded EVO
My wife and I recently changed over to Sprint and at first, we both got Epics. Within my 30 days I changed to the EVO and I don't regret that choice for a minute. The factors in my decision:
1. I knew I was going to root and flash a new ROM anyway (CM7 is amazing) so I didn't care what it had to offer stock.
2. I hate having a physical keyboard.
3. I don't play games on the phone.
4. Display: the SuperAMOLED screen on the Epic is gorgeous, no doubt, and oh how I wish the EVO had one, but honestly it wasn't a determining factor for me, and it shouldn't be for anyone. You can tell that it's a different type of screen (sometimes you can see a little tracing) and the colors aren't as vibrant, but it's still a pretty display on the EVO.
Yes, the Epic has a better processor and GPU, but having had my EVO for a while now, it feels solid, which is important for me. My wife likes her Epic because of the "pretty screen" and the keyboard, but whenever I am doing something with it (installing something for her or whatever) it feels like a cheap toy compared to my EVO.

I second this. For the longest time I fell in love with this thing a little more every day. A few months ago we kind of got in a bit of a rut, then CM7 came out and she's more beautiful than ever (No CM7 for Epic). As everyone has said, there's no comparison between the two when it comes to development. A friend has the Epic and I taught her how to use it and have played around with it extensively and for me, my EVO is superior.

There were some build quality issues at the beginning (I swapped out my launch day unit due to screen separation) but I think they've got that all fixed. The Epic just feels to light and cheap to me.
For anyone who talks about the Epics faster CPU/GPU, how much of it can it really use while it's stuck with 2.1. This is my quadrant score running CM7 RC1. Granted, synthetic benchmarks aren't a totally accurate gauge of performance but I'm pretty satisfied with this.

I don't disagree and I hate synthetics. I do know though that the performance of the EVO with all the development that's gone on since launch is competitive with the Epics performance.
Its just a really hard choice to make. If this phone ever gets the support it deserves it would rule. But that's a really big IF. With the way samsung is going I don't know if it will ever see a fully functional 2.2 prob never 2.3 or above like we all know the evo will
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Quadrant scores don't mean real world performance. You can have a regular setting and get "okay" scores, but throw on setcpu at max overclocking and take the test and have high scores, it just superficial and can't be accurate. But the Evo does have excellent performance while not being overclocked at all.
My wife and I have both. The key board can be nice but the evo wins everything else. My sister inlaw tried both and went with the evo and never looked back.

It really just comes down to what you want out of your phone. If you want a phone with a phyiscal keyboard at least now the EVO Shift is an option!
As another member previously mentioned, I would take full advantage of the 30-day trial peroid. Just don't get too attached to the phone (unless you plan on keeping it)!

OG Epic 4G users - worth the upgrade?

Have had the original Epic 4G for about a year. Love the phone. Running Syndicate Rom v1.1.1 (EC05 froyo).
Things that I would like in an new phone: better camera, better battery life, reliable GPS.
Things that are holding me back: future compatibility, questionable updates from Samung.
Any og epic users made the jump? Any thoughts?
This post has been removed!
I made the jump. Battery life is awesome. I used to go through two full batteries a day on the epic and now at the end of the day I still have like 30% battery left. Awesome. And the speed is not even comparable. My epic overclocked to 1.6 is not even close to this phone. Its worth it.
The Evo3D Killer!!!
Its definitely worth the jump. Just know that the sound quality on the og epic (even without voodoo sound) is better.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I would have to agree with all of the previous posters. This phone is light years ahead of my OG Epic. My wife is still using the Epic and whenever I am updating her apps or checking out her phone, I am amazed at how much better the new phone is. Not to mention that I too was going through 2 batteries each day. Now I can make it all day with some to spare on a single charge.
JUMP!
HTH,
Chad H
Extremely happy I made the jump. And maybe it is just me and my old ears but I think the sound is better on the Touch then the Epic.
I was on SFR 1.2 running the Honeycomb Explosion and loved it on my Epic. The only issue I had was the now and again sleep of death that was infuriating. I went in to a store and doubtfully upgraded to the Touch. My fears lasted all of two minutes once I got my hands on the device. The speed, sound, the clarity, even the ability to customize are all awesome. I added GoLauncher and I'm amazed at how awesome this phone is. No regrets at all here.
I would say upgrade if you can cause this phone is amazing screen is beautiful without being at full brightness, way fast , camera is nicer etc... but it does feel like you really have to baby it cause it feels like its easily breakable/fragile wifi reception on the og epic is better..thats just imo either way i still got it as well

who came from the evo

so i was wondering how many of you guys came from the evo 4g, and what you guys like over the evo other than the amoled screen of coarse that is a no brainer, how the battery life been treating you so far i record it to be about the same 6 to 7 hours wish i could get more i might be upgrading to a bigger battery soon.
i'm actually wondering about switching in the other direction.
i know at least on paper, epic is a better device.
but it seems like evo owners are having more fun with their devs.
no knock on our devs... (thank you to all)
i know that they are working hard.
i was thinking about picking up an evo on ebay/craigslist... and playing around with it. any one on the fence?
Nope. Lack of a download mode kills it for me. I've already bricked my phone once with a bad flash. Thanks to a download mode, I was able to recover with ease using Odin. I don't think I would ever use a phone without one now, provided there was an option to get one with one.
That and the news on HTC phone logs that are easily viewable by others is a little shady. Shame on HTC!
I agree with the development very high seriously about 40 flashable roms downsise I hate sense love the g.b based rom cynogen etc... how ever I have noticed the super quick os versious evo just feels smoother even at 1 ghz plus evo highest o.c is 1.2 and I have seen 1.6 so I am happy with the change just need to figure out how to get better batt life cause it sux but again so does the evo

Came from EVO 4G. Missing nandroid and the plethora of ROMs that were available for that device. The only reason I chose the Epic Touch over the 3D was for the extra memory. The screen is nice on this device but the resolution lacks behind the competition and I don't really care for the oversaturated look. Looks like both phones are "obsolete" anyway as we never got 4G in Detroit and it looks like we never will. I was really tempted to get the Motorola since I do travel occasionally and it would have been nice to have GSM capability. The lack of a gyro on that bothered me though since I like playing with google sky. It was pretty erratic running on the EVO 4G without the gyro.
Anyway I'm looking forward to the experience.

[Q/Advice) upgrade from Evo 4g

Has anyone currently on the Galaxy S II previsouly came from using the Evo 4g? I am thinking about updating to this one, I have my upgrade but im pretty happy with the evo 4g and the development its recieved the past years..
But I wanted to get input if someone has switched from my phone to this and the pro's and con's..
I'd appreciate any input!
I came from the EVO 4G to the EVO 3D to the galaxy SII. Honestly I would go with the EVO 3D. I gave mine to my wife and think I will switch my phone back with her. Sense is just so far superior an interface it is enough to make me hate using my galaxy SII. If I could get sense on this phone it would be awesome.
Thanks for the reply, Sense is good, uses a lot of battery life. What launcher is most comonly used for galaxy s2??
I came from the EVO 4G and I have to say I love this phone. I thought I was a sense fiend but once I go this phone I like not having it. It just seems snappier without it. And once we get a full ICS rom I won't miss sense at all.

You mean what launcher does it come with or what launcher do we prefer to install from the market? Touchwiz is a lot less intrusive than sense and i prefer ADW launcher but all other ones are great options. I still use my evo 3d since it has great development but this device is far more superior than both the evo/evo 3d that it really isn't a bad choice.

If you like the big screen of the EVO 4g, then you'll love the screen of the ET4g. I had the evo3d, it seemed really small the radio is very weak. It was the only phone that has had no signal in side my house. I felt the build quality was sub par also with the evo3d also. Just my opinion.
Here is my 2 cents.
Pros...e4gt brighter screen, smoother operation (no lag), much easier I think to root and customize. Better battery life and much more pros I know I'm missing
Con...radio....the radio signal sucks compared to evo. If you are in an area that your evo gets 2 bars your lucky on the Samsung to get one or have signal at all....could be different for you in your area.
This has been a few of the items I have noticed about the 2 phones.

I came from the Evo 4G and this phone by far out does the Evo. Speed...graphics power...screen...1080p video is 100% better..battery life too. It would be nice to be able to switch between Touchwiz and Android Gingerbread Stock layouf...but otherwise...its a no brianer.

Sense is just so far superior an interface it is enough to make me hate using my galaxy SII. If I could get sense on this phone it would be awesome.

I could not disagree with this post more.
I too came from a long history of HTC devices (most recently the Evo4G), and thought I would miss Sense. Nope. Not one bit. And I wouldn't touch an Evo3D with someone elses 10 ft pole.
Like mentioned in previous posts: Screen, batt life, CPU/GPU, camera!, massive amounts of internal storage, and yes, even touchwiz, make this a Far Superior phone.
And dev support is really picking up, new roms all the time.
do it.

I might be in this forum soon too. Over the past couple of days my Evo's charging port has been totally screwed up and my battery went from charging perfectly well to not charging at all. Can't even boot it up now to unroot it so I figured I might use the upgrade subsidy I've been sitting on since June. I had really planned to wait for the Nexus or SGS3 this summer/fall but I may just say "screw it" and upgrade today. Then when fall rolls around and there is some new badass handset I want, I can decide if I want to sell the SGS2 and put the proceeds toward the new one.
Traded my evo after my original gave up the ghost charging.
Now with e4gt. Love it!
Only annoyences is that i cant take pics while talking on the phone and i cant play music while on the Phone either.

FYI - I am on UnNamed and I can take pics and be on the phone. Quite simple as others have pointed out, this phone is clearly an upgrade from the Evo. I have them both and like others I thought it could not get any better than my Evo and I have been proven wrong. Also I just got the SGII for 48.88 at Sams club....
Ya i too came from an evo and let me tell ya this phone is soo much better in every way!! The evo's screen was horrible it was kinda laggy and battery life was just rediculous! This phone has an amazing screen you can crank the brightness all the way up and the battery is still gonna last you all day! This phone is a major win!! I have never had this phone lag out on me once and i have had it for months now. Even with all the apps open!

I had EVO 4G (which was great) but must say Epic is awesome. Compare to Epic - EVO feels like a brick now.

Considering an S3, but have questions!

It has been about 8 months since I've had a "modern" Android phone, I was really frustrated with the lackluster experience of my Tmo Sensation--it was a dual-core but it honestly didn't seem much better than my Mytouch4g, or my MT3G slide. Many times I would find myself with a laggy experience, which is why I am so hesitant with newer phones still...Well that and the level of development is normally a tadd sketchy and rough around the edges for T-Mobile devices.
1. Is there a high interest in development?
-I know this may sound like a silly question, however it's essential for me because I have had terrible experiences with Samsung dev support for the two Sammies I've owned(Sidekick 4G+Galaxy Player 5). I know the S3 is from may but I would really hate to spend all this money just to find out it's development will play out like the Sidekick 4G's did(never passed froyo, and the player never passed ginger).
2. Bleeding: Is screen bleeding a common issue, and if it is does it get worse over time?
3. How do you guys feel about the CPU/GPU? (can anyone tell me the "min" cpu value?)
4. How do you feel about the screen quality?(this will be my 1st AMOLED & 720P device)
5. Do you experience lag? (if enough people say there's lag that will really turn me away--it's one of those nitpicks that I will not lose...I mean I have a iP4 that's smoother than recent phones--which is saying a lot honestly. )
6. Can someone please explain the whole IMEI loss to me? ( I am willing to remain stock if it means Devs can find a solution--I've rooted, flashed, adb'd, and what not many times but the risks are higher with the S3)
7. If anyone of you are using a S3 in nyc, can you please tell me what kind of data speed it's tugging?
(my sensation had pretty bad 4G/HSPA+ #'s which is why I'm asking this now)
8. Is the 2GB RAM a superfluous feature, or does it partially future-proof the device for 4.x or 5.x?
I know I am asking a lot from you guys, though you have to understand that I don't want to get trapped in a renewed contract with a device that will be cut loose only a few months only after release. I am not into the whole scam of receiving 1 update(as in going from 1 android ver to another) and then never hearing of anything again.
Bump. Doesn't anyone have any input about this phone? -_-
Most if not all of your question are answered in other post, people just get tired and rewriting everything. So dont expect the same questions to get answered every time.
So your coming from some less desired devices, you will deff see dev support on a much higher level. I mean this is the Galaxy S 3 not some low end device.
My advice is make the jump or go try it for the 14 days and return if ya dont like it ( i bet you will like it).
Well good luck,

Actually the G1, Mytouch 4g, and sensation were really active with many projects. It's just that my experience with samsung phones is a bit shaky.

That's what people said about the Amaze 4G, Rezound, Galaxy SII(tmo), and Galaxy S Blaze...Those aren't low end but they never took off development wise. I am wondering whether or not Devs are scared away due to the S4 being in the Galaxy instead of the Exynos--so far I see about 20+ ROMs for the int'l S3 and 1-5 active ones for this S3. That is why I show great hesitation with new Android phones, their futures are always uncertain if the device isn't international or a Nexus. I tried this device briefly at a tmo store and I though it was really okay, but that's cause it was hooked up to a display stand so I couldn't get a real feel for it.
I came from the sensation to the S3 and am very happy.
It really all comes down to how you use your phone. I did like HTC sense, and sense 4.0 was nice through some of the custom roms available.
But the S3, in my opinion is way better. But its going to come down to your personal opinion.
I have not had any problems with the phone- granted I got it 2 weeks ago and not at release so I haven't had it too long. But still no problems.
THe screen is very nice, again in my opinion. There are some that say they don't like it and it could be better.

Well since you've owed a Sensation, can you tell me if you notice a difference in performance. I mainly ditched the Sensation because it didn't seem very fast, it lagged very often but keep in mind this was before ICS was out for it. Honestly I have lost faith in Qualcomm's competence--they really threw me off when they made their S3's as a A8/A9 design.
Thats probably one of the main reasons I switched from the sensation... that and i couldn't seem to find one with a speaker phone I could actually hear...
I haven't noticied any lag at all on the S3. Not like the sensation. It was definitely noticeable, esp on the stock rom. I've only had S3 for about 2 weeks and love it. I haven't tried any custom roms yet, but have rooted and installed google wallet which works great. I still haven't tweeked it too much or loaded it up with apps and media.
Keep in mind, you have 14 days to decide if you like the phone.

Im coming from the Mytouch 4g, followed by the HTC Sensation. Their is not a better device on the market then the s3.
My First thoughts were, its a little bigger than i hoped. But after a week worth of use, Anything smaller seems obsolete.

Its a completely different animal. I can promise it will meet and exceed your expectations.
On another note. I average 18+ hours of pretty decent usage.
My sensation goes on the charger @ noon typically. Not this. I get home with 40% left..

Well that is very good news, I prefer to hear experiences from people who have at least owned similar or same phones as myself.

Well I am happy to hear that it's not a mess like the Sensation. It had a nice look to it, but speed wise it was a joke for a dualcore phone. If you say there's no lag on ICS, then I can only imagine what would happen if it got JB+project butter. I guess you have put my fear of lag to rest. However I will wait a little while longer to see if Dev support picks up, right now it seems to be where tmobile's SII+amaze were at in their early life(which was a bad place). Once I see at least 10 active aosp/aopk/CM10 ROMs I will definitely get one. Thanks for everything! :fingers-crossed:

1) The phone has been out for a month so development is merely getting started. It will pick up as time goes by and we will see major roms like cyanogen andothers here (CM9 already and cm10 preview available). Many custom made kernels out there that are amazing.
2) Haven't head of screen bleeding on this device and mine (2 days old) has none. Be warned if you have not heard about the black splotches look into it. When screen is on and completely black you may notice some black splotches around the screen (you wont notice on day to day use unless you try to look. Every device varies you might get one with minimal blotches. This is a side effect of the AMOLED.
3) I believe stock cpu was set at 1.4ghz and I'm not sure what min was. Currently have mine overclocked to 1.89ghz max and 385mhz min.I camefrom the HTC one S and they have the same cpu. The snapdragon S4 is a powerhouse bro you will love the fluidity and performance here,
4) I first compared my HTC One S HDLED screen to my friends samsung blaze and I fell in love with the AMOLED screen. It is just has more POP and vibrant colors. You will love it, idk how anyone can dislike this screen it is beautiful and blasphemy to those who use it on anything lower than max brightness.
5) Only time I have experienced lag has been when messing with the CPU clock and when my min profiles are set on setcput to anything lower than 1ghz
6) As far as I know the IMEI loss has been happening when flashing recoveries or flashing cyanogen using a recovery other than CWM. I Rooted and flashed CWM with no problem. Still havent flashed CM9 until it is more "complete" and I make sure the IMEI issue is not ROM flashing related. (again i have been browsing the forums for only 2 days so im still learning the issues here)
7) I live in the Bronx and work in Manhattan. The data speeds in my apartment suck compared to my HTC One S. I was getting 2-5mbps down and up on it but on the S3 I am rarely pulling past 1mbps down and up. This doesn't matter to me as I have wifi on 24/7 at home. At work (85th and Amsterdam I pull an amazing 15-20mbps down and 3-5mbps up in that area. I go giddy when doing speed tests at work.
8) No device is future proof but the 2gb will help keep the device more current as different Android versions are developed. It is also beneficial when dealing with many apps opening one after another multitasking and such. IF you are a power user it is beneficial. To most it's the same as 1gb
Hope I've helped.

Thanks for answering all of my questions. From all of the responses it sounds like I will be able to get the S3 without having to worry anymore. However I hope tmobile increases the 4G speeds in the bronx to match those of manhattan at least. :fingers-crossed:

You are welcome bro. Don't get me wrong most of the Bronx does have terrible speed in comparison to Manhattan but there are a few areas where the speeds have surprised me. Like a train stop away from here I get great speeds. 10mbps on avg.

the only problem i had and it happened with 3 from tmobile was the phone was getting very warm. so i got the note from t mobile and the performance difference is very noticable. the s3 is a power house fast internet load speeds smooth and the screen compared to the already beautiful screen on the note is sharper and brighter. I had the black crush issue with the note blacks were horrid so i received another s3 today i have them both in front of me and love em both but am gonna stick with the s3 because of the performance and the screen. If the new note has the inners of the s3 and a 5.3-5.5 inch screen the s3 will be history i love the size of the note..what im trying to say i would not buy a phone with anything less then the s4 snapdragon in .Plus if you want to upgrade the s3 will be desirable and hold its value for a while so you could sell in the future for the next best thing..
