Root to new SD card?? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I wanted to upgrade my SD card would I lose my root?? Also would i lose my ROM that I'm running also??

Short answer, no. root, rom, kernel, radios, has nothing to do with your sd card except during the installation process.

You may want to move all apps to internal memory first, though.

32gb. Microsd card question.

I just bought a 32gb sd card for my phone. When I try to flash a Rom or do a nandroid backup it fails. Do I need to do anything special? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Make sure your backup is being sent to the sdcard and not internal memory ...cuz the internal memory may be full and therefore causes the back up to fail because there's no room....if your using rom manager go to the settings and it'll let you choose whether you want to do backups with internal or external.....this can also be done within recovery as well but I don't have the options memorized to dictate them to you

SD card required to flash/backup in recovery?

Hi guys, just got my gs3 last week, coming from the evo 3d. I tried searching and couldn't find anything, but I'm sorry if this has been addressed already. Anyway, once I root, will I be able to backup and flash roms without an sd card? Im just confused because rooting doesnt require one, but I thought that doing data wipes/factory resets in recovery will also wipe the internal device storage. Clarification would be very much appreciated!!

You do not need an sd card.... Twrp or cwm will work without it... I suggest twrp... Which you can find over in the development thread....

Hope this isn't too off topic, but I have a 32gig class 10 sd card from my htc evo and am seriously considering the S3 when I upgrade. Can I use this sd card or do I even need it with the S3?

Flashing affect SD Card?

I just rooted my Note 2 and transfered some apps like zombiewood and dragonvale to my sd card. Planning to flash the Omega ROM soon. Will flashing this rom affect the game data I transferred to my sd card?
And if you have any other recommended ROMs, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Anything that is on an external microsd card will not be erased when you flash a new rom. I really like liquidsmooth rom. You might want to try it out if you like AOSP roms.

Try twrp. It could be your sdcard going bad. Its definitely not a common problem though.
Is the card mounted?
You could save to internal, then copy it over.

Try on another sd card if you have one. That will tell if the sd card is faulty or not.
