OTG cables finally available - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Accessories

Just thought I'd let everyone know that OTG cables are available on ebay now for under $20. This might be a decent alternative to the bulkier samsung adapters.
Rob

Wow thats expensive the reason why they came out with these is we don't have to pay 20$ for the Samsung one
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

bought one already, looks promising to me
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gala...ht_5664wt_1157
seems that there is higher chance for logitech keyboard and mouse set to work properly

I can't believe they're charging $20 for those. They're worth $5 max. Just because samsung is shooting themselves in the foot by overcharging doesn't mean I'm going to be suckered into paying for one.

These aren't official Samsung cables, they're 3rd party ones. I'm expecting that the price on them will probably drop very quickly...

so what's the major differences between this and the samsung oem stubby one? aren't they both host dongles?
granted i have not been able to run peripherals on my tab... at least not my ps3 controller

What is the main use for these guys??

Connect pen drives, memory cards adapters, mouse, keyboard, gamepads.
Only thing not working is powered usb like hdd usb.
9.5 Bucks on Ebay.

Mini USB to Micro USB Adapter

Does anyone know where I can buy a mini USB to Micro USB adapter for my car charger? I don't want to have to buy another car charger.
i bought a few of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002N8JJ04/ref=oss_product
they're pretty great
i chose them over a smaller rigid converter, because these are less likely to break your usb connectors
Check Monoprice.com
I went looking for low-cost adapters while waiting for my phone to ship, and there just didn't seem to be any that were cost-effective.
I wound up buying a brand new car charger for $6 on amazon and a handful of new USB to micro USB cables for less than $2 each on monoprice.
I can't see the economy in spending $5 to make my $4 mini-usb charger compatible with my phone, when a new charger is just $5 anyway. I really hope that monoprice starts selling some ridiculously cheap adapters in the near future.
Thank you very much!
Exactly what I was looking for. Now I need to come up with $25 worth of stuff to get the free shipping.
you can also get them at radio shack or bestbuy.. except at best by you have to buy it with a short cable as well cause that the only way they sell it, at radio shack you can by it by itself
I called Radio Shack, $12.95, ouch and no thank you. I can buy a whole charger for that price at WalMart.
Petronic's point is well taken. Gonna follow the same route too.
Thank you for all of the replies!

dealextreme.com is real popular in the GPS hacking world. I have never had any issues. Google them and I think you will find they are well used and received.

Dealextreme got some great price. But shipping take about a few week because of international shipping from china. And customer service is bad. I purchase many thing there. For the price you will pay for a item there is a you how you say, "you get what you pay". Ebay us buyer is the best choice for faster shipping and little pricer item for HTC Evo.

i and my friends have used monoprice for all our cables/cords for years, never a problem
I use them all the time.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
For us lucky enough to be near California we get the best of both worlds. I get over nite express shipping for like $5 or so. This is probably faster then me getting around to going to a store.
I also use monoprice all the time. I love it. Cables and other stuff are so cheap and great customer service too.
I use them all the time too, no complaints at all here, only compliments! I buy ALL my cables (HDMI, audio, Cat6, power strips, etc) from them! Bought a 50' HDMI cable and it transfers full 1080p just as good as the others and it was only ~$20...
yes! monoprice is the best! i ordered a 10ft usb cable for my e4gt it was like $5 with shipping. great prices! i have ordered from them a few times without no problems
one thing I would recommend, don't just buy one or two cables at a time. Your shipping would cost more than the cables itself. The over night shipping (less than 10lbs) is only about $4 (to CA). Still not a bad deal considering the prices at brick and mortar places. When I want to order, I always call up some friends who need cables and we do a group buy. Or just, buy a bunch of extras for your travel luggage, laptop bag, cable in your car, ect. You can never have enough cables... lol.
Side note: I've been shopping at monoprice for years. I also have their graphic tablets and dual monitor arm clamps. For the price, I was surprised with the quality.
Monoprice is the way to go.. I recently took delivery of 11+ pounds of A/V, USB & MHL cabling and some crazy adapters for about 100 bucks. Some of the audio cables look like garden hoses :0. Same shipment would have been near a grand from Worst Buy.
Their stuff comes from China, but so does everything else.. No probs at all.

I can vouch for this place. I've been purchasing my HDMI cables, TV wall mounts and such from here for the last 2-3yrs. About 45min drive away from me, but overnight shipping is cheaper than gas, so I usually go with that.
I have also bought the MHL adapter from here, works great!

Micro USB cables - overpriced and cheaply made

My first micro USB cable broke the other day when my phone fell off my bed... it bent the metal plug (lol) and broke the cable.
I bought a replacement cable from best buy. 20$ down the drain. A month later the cheapo cable was not charging, and I had to force the cable through yoga positions to get get it to charge.
And like me, the cable was not supposed to do yoga every night and it ceased to work.
Best buy had failed me. (Surprise surprise)
So I went on amazon and ordered a 6 dollar cable. Woo! Cheap!
....
2 days later (Amazon prime )
Cable arrives.
HOLY CRAP
It is a gold plated cable, and feels to be about the most durable USB cable I think I've ever seen.
I've been using the cable for the past month or so and its awesome. The connection is great, (no wiggle. Hehe) and the cable is just durable.
So to all of you with micro USB cable woes... go to Amazon and buy that 6$ cable (so lazy I can't even link... smh) it will ruin all other cable experiences for you.

I totally agree with you! I went to radio shack looking for just the USB cable as I dont need the plug that you connect it to bc mine is fine..They wanted 20-30 bux for just the cord!!! Im like no way...I went to amazon & read sum reviews some neg sum positive but the one that came in works great for me so far (knocks on wood)! Here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004T0GHOU/ref=oh_o04_s00_i00_details
Also got this micro SD reader: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012Y02CE/ref=oh_o02_s00_i00_details When I plug it in it says its a sandisk...working fine so far so much easier than having to use my phone to transfer files!
Mediabridge - USB 2.0 A-Male to Micro-B Cable (6 Feet)

here is the one I bought. Right now its only 3.99 as a prime user!

wow guys, never, and I mean never buy cables from Bestbuy or any other retail store. Always buy online, and if you spent over 5 bucks for cords, you overspent on cords! a great website to find deals on any cords is slickdeals.net (there's a saying at those forums that if you spend more than 5 bucks on HDMI cable's, you are either ignorant or a moron that likes to waste money.)
P.S. - HDMI is digital so its either you have a connection or you don't, gold plated **** is still ****. Don't waste your money on things that doesn't even effect picture quality. Sorry for going out of topic, just want you guys to save some money.

i'l like to add my support for monoprice as well, there's no reason to buy any sort of cable from anywhere but there unless you're getting it for free... 9 times out of 10 when i buy something from there i usually end up getting 2 or 3 plus some other stuff since everything its so cheap. Quality is never an issue, in fact my monoprice hdmi cables have outlasted other store bought (Expensive!) hdmi's.... i dont understand how the people who work at monster cable, etc can sleep at night knowing they's built an entire business based on lying to, misleading, and ripping people off who don't know much about tech....

Yes best place ever to buy any wire. Don't let people in best buy or any other retail store try to sell you the same exact wire for $20. They convinced a friend of mine into buying one of those $50 monster hdmi cables, and I was like bro you just got robbed. I took one of my hdmi cables that I purchased from monoprice and hooked it up to his tv and asked him if he could see a difference. He ended up taking that cable back.
monoprice is the ****. i got a 50' hdmi cable on sale for like 10 bucks, along with a 1/8th to rca audio for my stereo system, for dirt cheap. i think it was like 5 bucks. the left channel died a year after i bought it so i emailed them and they mailed me another no questions asked. i have a micro hdmi to hdmi for my phone and it works great got that for a few bucks most likely.. their stuff is so cheap. my friend does audio work for theaters and concert venues and he uses monoprice for everything. they're a solid company with a really good rep.

I go to comcast for HDMI cables. They don't have anything long but if you have hd service from them (and probably if you don't) you can walk in and tell them that your hdmi cable dies and they'll hand you a new one. Between that and moving a few times in the last couple of years, I have 6 comcast hdmi cables still in the baggies they come in ready to go

Looking for a case/keyboard combo & xtra long charging cable

I'm really disappointed there aren't more 3rd party versions of the Tab's USB cable though. God forbid they use something like PDMI.

I own one of the Juiced Systems extra long cables and can vouch that the cable charges at about the same speed as the stock cable. Make sure you buy from the Stoned Organics Seller. The other people that are selling cables, i have no idea what kind of crap they may be selling. Good luck.

USB OTG?

Does the USB OTG cable work with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ ?
Sent from my EVO 4G LTE using xda app-developers app
It does.
If you are looking to mount a USB stick, you will need to have root and an app called stickmount. Other wise, you can plug in a keyboard or mouse, which does not requires root but you will need to be on 4.0.3 and above.

I just bought one USB OTG (micro-USB - USB-A-slot) from Amazon, no brand, certainly made in China, but it just works. Probably like you say, all OTG cables are the same. My advice if you want to just expand your memory, buy a very small USB "plug" stick like this one: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Cruzer-Flash-Drive-SDCZ33-032G-B35/dp/B00812F7O8/ I only have the 8 GB model, slow data transfer, but small plug. Fits in every pocket.
I hope I could help you.

I just wish I knew why amazon.com and .ca had such drastic price differences. Its $35 on amazon.ca and our dollar is basically the same. Not fair at all.

Hi Pepper67, that price is a great deal. I understand your frustration regarding price differences. I'm British, but I live in Italy, I often use the amazon.co.uk site for research and checking user reviews because my Italian isn't brilliant. When I check the same goods on amazon.it they are normally higher. Sometimes by as much as 50%.
But the food and the weather here in Italy are way better than the UK.
You may pay more in Canada for some goods, but correct me if I'm wrong. Don't you guys have a public health care system? Unlike the US which is primarily private insurance based. Which is more important, health care, or saving a few bucks on Amazon? Just a thought.
Have fun. Anil
