Sent from my s#ift (drunk) using XDA App

I've done it myself after I lost my Arc on the pavement. It's not that hard really. It took me an hour or so to complete the exchange. The hardest part is splitting the screen and backframe (or what it's called) from each other. There are lots of clipses holding this beast together.
But it can be done

Lol an hour sounds time consuming...on a side note tho the design of it seems flawed. my friend sat on it with the phone in the back pocket. i do this with all my phones and never had a screen issues...i think the curved back may have bent the screen more than my friends fat a$$
sent as pixels travelling on an invisble superhighway!! via XDA App on the s#ift

UPDATE: finally got the screen from hong kong for 66$, it was easy to take apart, actually 1 of the easiest ive taken apart so far. the motherboard chip set separates easily from the front housing holding the lcd and digitizer, theres also a guide available on how to disassemble it on xda. thinking about getting my own arc now...hmmm

The part that you are referring to is just the LCD. You must first check if the LCD is still working properly by turning it on. If you can still see the whole screen light up and function properly under the crack, then the only thing you need is a Digitizer, which you can also find on eBay. In the event that the LCD isn't working properly, you need both the LCD display and the digitizer. Oh yeah and don't forget to order some TORX screwdrivers, to open the TP2 up!
the LCD and digitizer both work fine, this actually happened about 2 weeks ago and ive been using it every day since then.
the only thing broken is that little piece of glass, which your saying is part of the digitizer? its not cracked on the outside, thats why i wasnt sure which part i needed
thanks

Oh really that's weird xD as far as I know there's an LCD screen, with a Digitizer on top that changes your touch into a digital signal (hence the name Digitizer).
You might have to wait for another person to prove me wrong
have the same issue (and no warranty), glass cracked few months ago lcd & digitizer both work fine but the crack is a bit annoying while using, hope your problem was solved ... so did you find out which part was affected? thanks for any info cause I'd like to buy the right part too

Next time, please start your own thread instead of hi-jacking one that is months old.
The glass is always sold as part of the digitizer. I have never seen it separate. Ask whomever you are buying from if it is the glass+digitizer or digitizer only.

[Q] Which Screen to use to fix my cracked Evo?

So I first cracked my Evo's screen in January, but it wasn't such a big deal since I could still use the phone just find. Then two weeks ago took my phone to Jamaica and dropped my phone on a concete floor. Now it's cracked even worst and the touchscreen stopped working. So do I just need to replace the digitizer or the lcd? And which website should I get the digitizer from (or lcd :/)?
Ebay at $12.98 plus free shipping: http://cgi.ebay.com/USA-TOUCH-SCREE...aultDomain_0&hash=item4aaac3e980#ht_605wt_973
Amazon at $15.98 plus around $4.00 for shipping: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00427PUMK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A1M0J6UC9S4O6R
I trust Amazon, but never bought anything from Ebay before. Yet I like Ebay's price.
Also, In the photos you'll noticed my Evo is plugged in charging but there's no notification light. Idk what's up with that.

Just taken w/ screen off
Screen on
Go with a digitizer that has many positive reviews because i got a digitizer with a hardware issue and it pressed itself all the time which made my phone pretty much unusable. But my digitizer did come with all the tools i needed.
Make sure you go to the durapower global site and purchase the HTC EVO 4G Digitizer Adhesive as youll need it to put the new digitizer on. Be patient with it because at first it will seem like its not double sided sticky. I reccomend taking off the more difficult side first because i did it the opposite way and had to cut some adhesive off kus i got dirt on it
When taking the digitizer off make sure u heat it up really good with a hairdryer or heat gun. and then very carefully peel it up with a pry tool starting at the top. I did not do this when i replaced mine and ended up breaking the lcd so you want to be super careful.
So I ordered the one from Ebay on Wednesday and FINALLY got it this afternoon (longest wait ever!). It took me nearly 4 hours to replace it. In case anyone want to know for in the future, the hardest part is separating the glass from the LCD. That part alone took me about 3 hours. Ended up that I was doing it completely wrong. I had to use a hairdryer and a flathead screw driver to separate it. And I just used the same adhesive to put the new touchscreen in.
So now the only problem is touchscreen isn't responding. I'm hoping it's just a loose cable. Also, the screen I got from Ebay looks used, fyi.

Cracked screen--Bought replacement--Dies when I swap

I have a black SPH-D710 on Sprint. I cracked the screen, so I bought a white replacement (glass, LCD, and digitizer) on eBay.
I took the phone apart and swapped the screens and reconnected the boards and it powers up great... except that I have no service. If I connect back to the cracked screen, it powers up great and I get great service. I was hoping for a quick and dirty swap, but it seems like there must be some code in the screen-side circuit board that is foiling my attempt. I found this video [goo.gl/YNLZE -- xda won't let me post links, yet] where the guy seems to suggest that my problem is the IMEI, but I don't have the first clue about trying to find that in the old part and moving it to the new one, if that's even the problem. I've combed the forums and don't see that anyone else has had this issue.
Ideas?
Did your original LCD get damaged? If not try just swapping the digitizer and using the original LCD. May require use of a hairdryer to separate the adhesive

That's how I had to do mine..One day I was drink a little to much, climbed a tree and fell out, my screen was shattered. Hairdryer is the key, the lcd i got from ebay, was brand new but..I now have the ghost menu issue ever since I swapped digitizers (don't understand how or why). Also check the connections, I know it's basic, but hey you never know

LCD is fine, just the glass is broken
The glass is cracked in one corner. The LCD itself is fine. The digitizer is fine. Basically the only thing I NEED to replace is the glass. The thing is, I have a replacement LCD with the glass attached, it's just that I lose service when I connect it. I'm just wondering if someone knows why, and if there's a workaround so that I don't have to screw around with trying to heat the glass off, break it even worse, and then be SOL.
Right now my phone works and the broken part is really only over the search button on the screen (which I never use anyway), but I was just hoping to restore it to 100% since I already bought the parts.

N7100 Broken Glass

So after 2 weeks and on the 1st drop my GAlaxy Note 2 glass broke out... but the touch screen is 100% working. My question is, can i just replace the glass with this:
http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-samsung-galaxy-note-ii-n7100-glass-lens.html
Or do i need to change it all:
http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-samsung-galaxy-note-ii-n7100-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly.html
I want to know if like the i9100 and i9300 the gorilla glass is attached to the touch screen or not in the note 2.. i hope not.. thanks!

You do need to change it all.
I mean in Galaxy Note screen comes as glass + touchscreen like one part
Glass seems to be attached by glue
Sorry.
:crying:
If the touch screen is still working, you definitely don't have to replace the whole thing, just the glass on top which should cost only 30 dollars ish.
Sorry this happened to you

the glass and touch is one-part.
I just replaced the broken glass of my N7100 with a 30$ one from ebay.
It took me about 1.5h
You will need a heat gun and something to lift the broken glass of the actual display.
Start on top and work your way down, be very careful on the bottom of the phone, because the soft buttons are actualy glued to the glass.
My phone works ok now, i did get some small scratches in the display from the metal plyer i used to remove the pieces, but they are barely noticable when the screen is turned on.
Sometimes the digitizer misses a input, i only recognize this when playing a game with heavy touchscreen use, does anybody know a way to fix this..
Good luck!
Oh god.. $280 dollars!!!, might as well buy a used S3 then trade that for a note 2.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
The only Thing I know is, that you must replace the entire display because super / amoled displays hermetically encapsulated ,so that oleds not age as fast / oxidize. I Think you have to replace the whole one.
Durango
It IS possible to just repair the glass..

[Q] Cracked Screen - Which part needs replacing?

Hi all,
Just my luck, and what a way to start the new year!
My nephew managed to knock my phone off the table and onto the tiled floor, cracking my Galaxy Note 2 N7105's screen. (My new case comes in tomorrow T_T)
It has a big smash to the glass front, and I was just wondering if someone could tell me which bit was broken? E.g the glass or the digitiser etc, and how much it would cost to fix?
The phone still works PERFECTLY, S-Pen works flawlessly too, so I'm guessing it's just the front and not the digitiser that's the problem.
Here's a picture of the damage.

The digitiser or just the front glass screen? If it' the digitiser it'll cost me over £100
However, if it's the glass, it'll cost me £15.

You only need to change the front glass. The glass itself doesn't cost much you can get one easily from eBay. Unfortunately the glass is bonded to the LCD by strong adhesive and you need to carefully remove it so as to not cause any further damage to the display. You need some tools and also hair dryer/heat to remove carefully. You can search in YouTube for tutorials before proceeding to try on your own. Good luck :good:
Just wondering if you tried changing the glass? I have the same problem and am trying to decide if it's within my abilities to tackle this

Wow, maybe your lucky, search on YouTube there are many videos of how to fix your digitizer. And you need heater, i think hair dryer can help, tiny both side tape, and free time.
